In this case he Spike used his revolver to act as a wedge between a spike and the advancing SpikesOfDoom and the cage he was in, wall, until the advancing wall it broke open the cage gate and he could escape.escape (the scene being gag-dubbed is a classic CliffhangerCopout as he didn't have the room to do that before).

His sidekick then arrives to open the trapdoor and let him out of the cell.
