** King Arthur is described as having been this, back in the day, as well as being the GoodKing - and on such a scale that it's heavily implied that it's why shows zero respect to pretty much any authority figure he encounters thereafter, as in his eyes, they simply don't measure up.
* In Fanfic/DreamofGodsandColorsChildren, a crossover of VideoGame/HollowKnight and WebAnimation/RWBY, Ghost and Hornet prove themselves to be exceptionally proactive rulers. Scarcely a day passes after they've taken their respective thrones and they've already set up a council between Hallownest's different tribes and set off to establish contact with Remnant.
* Fanfic/DungeonKeeperAmi has several examples of these. Baron Leopold and Duke Libasheshtan are warrior nobles who lead their troops in battle and are willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. King Albrecht and the Emperor of the Shining Concord Empire are always seen working to respond accordingly to the threat of keepers in general. Mostly the rising power of Keeper Mercury. Subverted with Queens Beryl and Metallia, who are only Queens in name, and depend entirely on their underlings to come up with plans and execute them to further their goals.

* The entire point of the TableTopGame/Pathfinder Kingmaker campaign is to become this. The player characters wind up taming a wild land, establishing settlements, and then ruling it. The whole time, they must continue to defend their kingdoms from threats both external and internal, deal with any consequences of their policies, and deal with other nations. Basically, it's TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons when you act personally, but similar to a 4x game when things happen to your nation.

** In Film/2018, the rulers of all four civilized underwater kingdoms (King Orm of Atlantis, King Nereus of Xebel, the Princess of the Fishermen, and the King of the Brine) personally lead their forces into battle. It's heavily implied by Orm that his his father Orvax was also like that. Even Arthur himself is the son of an Atlantean queen and spends his days helping others (although he wants nothing to do with Atlantis). Mera is the daughter of King Nereus and spends most of the movie helping Arthur and fighting; she's also an excellent pilot. Even Queen Atlanna is shown to be a competent fighter.

* Fanfic/QueensOfMewni:
** More or less expected of the Queen and her heiress, as they are meant to be sufficient enough in magic to defend the realm (and more or less was the reason Dirhennia was passed over in the succession). Further enforced when the Code of Etheria was created, as rules one (must learn magic), three (must learn the art of war), and five (will learn the art of music, vocal or instumental) were meant to force this upon heiresses, although, admitted, only one queen followed all the rule.
** Aside from the above, many of the queens had side hobbies that made them notable enough:
*** Urania the First One, before she even became queen, was first and foremost a weaver, and even after she led a rebellion into the Mewnipendence that saw her crowned queen, she would weave her own royal gowns.
*** Solena the Smitten was a ballet dancer, and would even be crowned in her troupe's uniform.
*** Estelaria the First Star was an astronomer and astrologer, and would put in words the prophecy that would define the Butterfly dynasty.
*** Hemera the Builder would get a degree in architecture and would construct Mewni Castle.
*** Cosmica the Explorer would earn a pair of dimensional scissors from Hekapoo and use them to explore the dimensions.
*** Polaria the Navigator would explore Mewni's seas.
*** Asteria, the Mother of Stars would personally rescue 100 children from mercenaries, and would also cement the Mewnian calendar.
*** Etheria the Knight would be the first heiress to be trained as a knight, and she was the one who created the Code of Etheria.
*** Soupina the Strange was a MedicalMonarch, who spent much time healing the sick, and found a cure for the Red Death.
*** Solaria the Monster Carver spent much of her youth wandering Mewni, earning a living as a mercenary for hire.
*** Hesperia the Singer of Dusk was an accomplished singer, actor, and songwriter, and while this was downplayed during her actual reign (due to, you know, reigning) she played this straighter as both princess and Queen Mother.
*** Celena the Shy was a PotionsMaster.
*** Diana the Huntress was a hunter.
*** Sky the Weaver was a weaver like her ancestress Urania, and made the tapestries that adorned the Grandma Room.
*** Comet the Chef was the Royal Cook long before she was named Queen .
