* In ''Animation/NanaMoon'', there is a certain section of Moon Haven near a forest that has numerous giant mushrooms fashioned into houses.

* The Belgian children's series ''Series/KabouterPlop'' revolves around a gnome called Plop who lives in a mushroom with a red cap with white spots. The series mostly takes place in and around this mushroom, in which Plop keeps an inn open in which his friends can come along to have a glass of milk.

* The Belgian theme park ''Plopsaland De Panne'' has a boat ride based on the popular children's show ''Series/KabouterPlop'' (see above) in which visitors enter the gnome forest from the show where all gnomes live in mushrooms.
* The famous Fairytale Forest of the Dutch theme park the {{Ride/Efteling}} features a gnome village in which all of the houses are mushroom-shaped.

* If you're in a pinch and need a quick shelter in ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'', a red mushroom and some bone meal to grow it will come in handy, since it produces a giant mushroom that you can then use as an impromptu home for the night.

** In ''[[VideoGame/TheElderScrollsIIIMorrowind Morrowind]]'', the nobles of the [[TheClan Great House]] Telvanni -- a Great House focused on magic and [[TheMagocracy ruled by wizards]] -- reside in magically-grown giant mushrooms in which rooms and corridors are hollowed out, essentially forming giant fungal {{Mage Tower}}s. The commoners live in smaller mushroom houses, the size of a cottage. A common feature BeneathTheEarth, in the MouseWorld and in TheLostWoods alike, it is not uncommon in fantasy settings to see people making their homes in hollowed-out mushrooms of various sorts. More often than not, this will happen in one of two ways, although exceptions and overlap of course exist:

* ''Literature/TheLightFantastic'': While traveling through [[TheLostWoods the Forest of Skund]], the protagonists meet Swires, a gnome living inside a mushroom with a red cap with white spots. The mushroom itself is described as belonging to a kind that a shaman they met previously, who habitually consumed hallucinogenic fungi [[MushroomSamba to trigger religious experiences]], would only eat "after tying himself to a rock".

* ''Webcomic/TheDreamlandChronicles'': The Fairy villag is built out of mushrooms, [[FungusHumongous some of which are large enough to be apartment buildings]].

* In the ''Literature/OctoberDaye'' series, pixies can and do set up housekeeping in the real world wherever they can. However, inside Faerie, they live in Mushrooms, many of which are puff balls that give off knockout spores as a defense mechanism.

* In ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons'':
** 11 miles BeneathTheEarth in the ''TabletopGame/ForgottenRealms'', the Underdark "Garden City" of Fluvenilstra is partly built into the giant mushrooms and other magically enhanced plants that dominate the local landscape. It also has relatively large MushroomMan, PlantPerson, and {{Planimal}} populations.
** The Myconids are a race of [[MushroomMan Mushroom People]] from the Underdark who cultivate a wide variety of fungi, including large ones that they sometimes use as dwellings.

Sometimes, this kind of residence will be made out of normal-sized mushrooms and will be the home of choice for diminutive humanoids such as [[OurGnomesAreWeirder gnomes]], [[OurFairiesAreDifferent fairies, pixies]] and other such {{Lilliputians}}. These Mushroom Houses will typically look like toadstools with stout stems fitted with doorways and windows, and with the inside furnished to provide its inhabitant a comfortable home. The mushroom's cap -- which will often, but not always, be red with white spots in resemblance to a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amanita_muscaria fly agaric]] -- may or may not be fitted with windows of its own. This sort of house is a common feature of the more magically inclined {{Mouse World}}s.
