* The [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oak_processionary oak processionary]] moth is one of those that mostly causes damage when they're still in their caterpillar form - they tend to form groups (hence their name) and entirely infest trees. The worst thing about them are their irritant hairs that can cause severe eczema and skin irritation, and the fact that the weather has been growing more temperate in the areas where they repopulate doesn't help. There are special themes that specialize in the removal of clusters of this moth, and trees where they have been sighted are usually marked with tape. Another, newer method, is simply to encourage the presence of their natural predators, that is, great tits and other songbirds, which has had promising results so far.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBros'': The Monarch is a butterfly-themed supervillain. Is he menacing, you ask? [[ZigZaggingTrope Well...]] he's crafty, deceptively [[HeroKiller deadly]], and an [[StalkerWithoutACrush obsessive]] thorn in the Venture family's side. He's also a blundering weakling who's often humiliated and maimed. Oh, and he uses butterfly swarms to [[PestController kill people]]. Well, he [[ForgotToFeedTheMonster tries to.]]

** ''VideoGame/Persona4'' has the Papillion, a type of shadow introduced around the mid-game phase. These take the form of a small rabble of butterflies with heart-shaped wings. Their ability to debuff the Investigation Team and buff other shadows can cause serious problems if they aren't dealt with quickly.
