* Another non-Japanese example: Luxanna Crownguard AKA Lux from ''VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends''. She is the little sister of Garen, a distant one, and a CuteWitch that serves the nation of Demacia well, just like her big bro. And while she certainly has some things to call out on him, she clearly respects him a lot. She's in about her teens, and so far she seems to be hooking up with another champion, Ezreal. But that doesn't stop {{Fanon}} to think that [[BigBrotherInstinct Garen may not want to hand his sister over that easily to Ezreal]].

It rarely works like this in real life. Those who have younger sisters themselves and hear about this trope often claim that they're [[AnnoyingYoungerSibling annoying]] rather than cute, making this trope more wish fulfillment than anything like an accurate portrayal of sibling dynamics. Thanks to the UsefulNotes/WestermarckEffect, it is far more likely that the idea of any kind of romance with your sister would be either laughable or even outright disgusting. Check. Cute? Check. Needs rescuing from time to time? Check. Adores her [[PlayerCharacter older sibling]]? [[BigBrotherWorship Double check!]] {{Romance|Sidequest}}able? Nope.

* ''Literature/TrappedInADatingSimTheWorldOfThatOtomeGameIsToughForUs'': An AlternateTimeline spinoff where the protagonist Leon's [[ReincarnationRomance past-life]] sister Marie is PromotedToLoveInterest. Marie was always presented as a HateSink of AnnoyingYoungerSibling sisters by the author who ended up UnintentionallySympathetic due to her excessively harsh lives; in fact, the original timeline version of Marie is a major subversion. Marie is a CuteBruiser who starts off as a GoldDigger HaremSeeker and undergoes substantial CharacterDevelopment.

** Kind of a ZigZaggedTrope with Noel Vermilion because she's not actually [[TheProtagonist Ragna's]] little sister but rather [[CloningBlues a clone of her.]] Everything else about the trope is played straight. It's ''heavily'' implied she has a crush on him, and even if she doesn't, she looks up to him like an actual older brother and the normally withdrawn and antisocial Ragna is ''fiercely'' protective of her. Their relationship is a major focus of the series at that.

* Parodied in ''LightNovel/{{Dokkoida}}'', where the main character lives with an alien girl masquerading as his little sister. Thanks to a soap opera episode following this trope, she and the majority of their neighbors (who are also aliens) become convinced that it applies to the main character as well, thanks in part to DirtyOldMan [[MadScientist Dr. Marronflower]] using his own library of H-games as evidence. HilarityEnsues when the two who have a crush on the hero attempt to [[InvokedTrope invoke]] it to their advantage, leaving him completely confused.

* Miyuki Shiba from ''LightNovel/TheIrregularAtMagicHighSchool'' can be seen as an example of the collection of all the clichés of such heroines and as well as an example of a rather original attempt to play with them. On the one hand, she idolizes her brother and declares willingness to do whatever he wants with her. On the other hand, her "silly little sister" behavior is only a mask to deceive her brother and convince him of the need to continue to take care of her. Later, [[spoiler: it turns out that as she was artificially created and genetically improved, she can have a healthy family with her brother while continuing to be his biological sister and having the same parents as him.]]
* Kureha of ''LightNovel/MayoChiki'' is a member of Jirou's [[UnwantedHarem Unwanted]] and SupportingHarem. Observe her reaction upon finding that Jirou, who has gynophobia[[note]]That is, having a bad physical reaction to even being touched by women, which is largely Kureha's fault in the first place because of her [[HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood treatment of him]][[/note]] may have a girl over at the house. It's not ignoring something that's none of her business, or happiness that her brother has finally gotten over the condition that has crippled his social life, but rather to kick down doors and scream:

* The premise of ''LightNovel/{{Oreimo}}'' is largely based around this trope. Kirino plays games with this trope as their focus and is the tsundere type herself. The relationship between her and her older brother Kyousuke is probably the biggest focus of the series.

* ''Something'' of this is between [[GuileHero Lelouch]] and Nunnally in ''Anime/CodeGeass''. Nunnally hits a lot of the check points -- young, cute, DamselInDistress, [[BigBrotherWorship adores]] her older brother who is ''very'' protective of her (he just started a '''damn war''' to protect her that's all) -- but isn't certainly his love interest, falling under the NotLoveInterest in importance. That said, they have IncestSubtext moments and a lot of extra materials [[LampshadeHanging lampshade]] how ambiguous their relationship is due to their devotion to each other. PlayedForLaughs as a general rule, but it's worthwhile noting they ''are'' royalty and royalty has a long tradition of incest. Extra materials also reveal [[spoiler: their own ''mother'' wanted to play this straight between them. Ick.]]

* In ''Literature/DateALive'', Kotori Itsuka is a parody of this when first introduced. Her [[NotBloodSiblings foster brother]] Shido (and others) even [[LampShadeHanging call]] her his [[PhraseCatcher "cute little sister"]]. It then gets [[SubvertedTrope subverted]] when we meet her [[SplitPersonality other]] [[ShanaClone personality]]. The romantic subtext is unclear. She is implied to have some not-quite-sisterly feelings for her brother but doesn't have a problem [[PlayingCyrano setting him up]] with the GirlOfTheWeek (ItMakesSenseInContext). The only time she goes into ClingyJealousGirl mode is when she meets [[spoiler:his [[LongLostRelative biological sister]], Mana]], at which point she reveals the level of her interest in him by [[spoiler:arguing about who's better and finally declaring that not having any real relation is better because a real sister couldn't ever marry him.]]

* {{Parodied|Trope}} with the 4koma manga ''Manga/CyclopsShoujoSaipu'' which plays everything straight... except the [[BigLittleBrother "little" sister]] is a [[HugeSchoolgirl 180 cm (5 ft 11 inches) tall middle schooler]] with GagBoobs, and the older brother is [[OneHeadTaller one head shorter]] at [[TinyGuyHugeGirl 165 cm (5 ft 5 inches)]].
