* ComicBook/TheFlash In the ComicBook/TheFlashRebirth series (pictured), Superman is chasing after Barry Allen, when Superman begins talking about the races they've done in the past. Barry responds with "Those were for charity, Clark," and immediately speeds off, leaving Superman dumbfounded and far, far behind. Superman's speed used to be a match for Barry's but it had been retconned to be slower in the 25 years since their last race.

* Manhwa/Yureka: In the first chapter, [[spoiler: it looks like Team Triple Threat is pretty evenly matched with the monsters they encounter in their DungeonCrawling. Then they get impatient, and reveal that they were fighting the whole time with their secondary classes, much to their companions' shock. A CurbStompBattle ensues, causing them to lament that they'll never get anywhere if they can't refrain from using their main classes]].

* Comicbook/Supergirl:
** When DC brought Kara Zor-El back after her death in Comicbook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths, it was rumoured that she was more powerful than Superman. Then Superman proved that his cousin was not more powerful. She seemed more powerful because she hadn't learned yet how to hold back, unlike him, who is always holding back.
** In Comicbook/RedDaughterOfKrypton, it takes a dozen Green and Red Lanterns to restrain a mad Supergirl. Afterwards, Kara reveals that she was holding back because she was scared of killing them all if she let loose. Guy believes her.

* A variation occurs in Film/TheQuickAndTheDead. Before his duel with Herod, Ace Hanlon gives a BadassBoast of how he killed four notorious outlaws, two with each hand. Unfortunately Herod, his opponent in the QuickDraw contest reveals he actually killed those men and proceeds to shoot Ace's right thumb off, then puts his gun back in the holster and offers Ace a chance to try with his left hand. Seeing Herod's right hand is occupied lighting a cigar, Herod draws only to get a bullet through his palm as Herod draws and shoots with his left hand. The trope is lampshaded in the climax when Herod finds that Cort, the man he wants to duel all along, has his gun hand broken. Herod says he could use his left to even things up, but unlike Ace he really is as good with both hands.
