* WesternAnimation/Kaeloo: Downplayed. In Episode 85, during a fight, Kaeloo refers to Mr. Cat (a cat) being mixed breed instead of a pedigree cat. However, this does not ever impact him negatively in any way on the show, and none of the other major characters are cats so it hs yet to be seen if this is an actual problem in the show's society.

** Seymour Guado had to put up with this crap as a child. The Guado had trouble accepting someone with a Guado father and a human mother. His father was too useless to protect his family, so Seymour and his mother were exiled. Then mom sacrificed herself to become an aeon so Seymour would have the power needed to become a savior that everyone would accept. The Guado do eventually accept Seymour as their new leader, and the rest of Spira comes to love him as a maester of Yevon. Unfortunately, it was too late; his crappy childhood had come to shape his worldview, turning him into a StrawNihilist who wants to who wants to kill everyone.

** Gritta, a character from the prequel series is the half-breed daughter of a disgraced courtier, and grows up in TheCityNarrows as a sort of Eponine expy, used in her father's schemes, and with some implication of being pimped by him. Paarfi, the "narrator" gives a probably FairForItsDay authorial comment in relation to Grita about how dislike of half-breeds is defended by stereotypes that they are immoral/criminal, and how this often becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Over the course of the series, Grita goes from her lowly origin to become a powerful EvilSorceress.

** Claude, one of the three major Lords of VideoGame/FireEmblemThreeHouses, is similar to Lyn in this way, being the son of [[spoiler:an Almyran father and a Fodlanese mother. His father is the current King of Almyra during the events of the game, while his mother was the daughter of the leading Duke of the Leicester Alliance; her running away to be with Claude's father combined with the death of her brother/Claude's uncle, Godfrey (expected to lead the Alliance at the time), threw Leicester into a major SuccessionCrisis until Claude's grandfather announced him as his new heir. His childhood in Almyra was rife with assassination attempts and abuse due to his Fodlan blood, and the fact that Almyrans are seen as violent brutes by the Fodlanese makes his transition into Fodlan society quite difficult.]] As a result, Claude has an extremely difficult time trusting others and prefers to keep people at arm's length through a veneer of teasing and secrecy.

Added DiffLines:

* Literature/TheCityOfBrass: "Shafit" human-daeva hybrids are second-class citizens in daeva society, facing limited legal rights and arbitrary government persecution. An earlier dynasty conducted mass murders of shafit in the belief that any human-daeva intermingling threatened divine retribution; the current dynasty simply wants to keep them down because they reproduce much faster than pure daeva and threaten to outnumber them.

Added DiffLines:

* Series/MixedIsh: The kidsí first day of school was met with derision from the racially segregated student body and a few questions on what they were mixed with. Johan and Santamonica fit in easily by picking a side, black and white respectively, but Rainbow refuses to.

* Mixed-race couples and their children were historically maligned in the U.S. lynching a black man for marrying a white woman was not unheard of, and depending on the time period, they might have gone as far as to lynch her and any children she might have had with him as well. to the point of it actually being federally illegal for a black person to marry a white person until 1967. Also, since interracial romance and interracial sex were considered immoral, federal sex trafficking laws were routinely used to prosecute black men for being in consensual relationships with white women until the language was clarified to only apply to prostitution, sex slavery, statutory rape, rape, and pedophilia. The ChildOfTwoWorlds trope didn't come into play as often because a mixed-race child was more likely to be rejected by both parent groups instead of just one or the other.

* Mixed ancestry isn't strictly necessary to be considered a "half-breed." Even pure-blooded immigrants (or their descendants) who refuse to ghettoize tend to end up shunned by a significant portion of the culture they came from and the culture they've adopted.

* Mixed ancestry isn't strictly necessary to be considered a "half-breed." Even pure-blooded immigrants (or their descendants) who refuse to ghettoize tend to end up shunned by a significant portion of the culture they came from and the culture they've adopted. Simply being born to a couple of mixed cultural ancestry (but the same race) can result in prejudice.

* Comedian and host of Series/TheDailyShow, Creator/TrevorNoah, experienced this in his childhood. He's spoken and written about how his Xhosa mother and Swiss father's relationship had to be kept a secret, because during apartheid in South Africa, it was illegal to be in an interracial relationship; though Trevor notes that his mother would've gotten a worse punishment than his father. Then Trevor was born, and he remembers how both Afrikaners and Africans would think of him as "half-caste", "mixed-breed", or even a "mutt". One of the things he remembers is that if he was walking down the street with his parents, he and his mother would walk on one side of the road and his father on the other. His mother would also have to avoid holding his hand in public in fear that a policeman would suspect something.

Added DiffLines:

* Series/OrangeIsTheNewBlack: Brook, who's half Japanese and half Scottish, suffers this from other inmates, either disclaiming her Asian ancestry entirely or simply hurling slurs at her over it.

Added DiffLines:

* Film/WhereHandsTouch: Leyna suffers from this continually, as a result of her biracial ancestry, growing up in Nazi Germany. Simply having her appearance means she constantly stands out from everyone else.

* In the RWBY fic Fanfic/LetMeHear, vampire hybrids often get looked down upon by pureblood vampires. Blake, being a faunus with vampire heritage (a bit of aristocratic human as well), suffers from some of this on top of the FantasticRacism she receives for being faunus.

* In Literature/Doglands, it's noted that most humans don't want mixed-breed dogs and thus they're usually ignored in exchange for purebreds. Mixes also tend to be euthanized quickly.

* In Literature/Doglands, it's noted Literature/Doglands: Furgul is a ChildOfForbiddenLove between a racing greyhound and a wolfhound/greyhound mix, making him a lurcher. His mother helped him and his sisters escape their kennels so that most humans don't want mixed-breed dogs they wouldn't be culled for being mutts. Once Furgul runs off and is taken in by humans, his new Bulldog housemate tells Furgul that lurchers aren't well-liked. People would rather have a purebred than a mixed-breed, thus they're usually ignored in exchange for purebreds. Mixes also tend to be euthanized quickly.

Added DiffLines:

* In the 1987 book Literature/Stray, Pufftail spent several days in a pet store window because no one wanted to spend a fiver on a moggy kitten. His black-and-white brother looks appealing for a mixed-breed, but Pufftail's just a common brown tabby. Many people thought he was too expensive and complained that they could get a kitten just like him for free elsewhere. Eventually, he was sold, alongside his more expensive brother, for only one pound.
