I feel like a lot of the examples discussed here rely on saying how Ego characters are an "in-between", which prevents there from being a proper understanding of what the Ego is as an individual. Id characters don't always have to be wildly emotional, they just need to be driven by something basic and straightforward. Superego characters don't need to be completely stoic, they just need to be driven by ideals or principles. Ego characters are more so driven by more nuanced desires.
