Since a full-on blog can take a lot of work to update regularly, characters often instead create ''micro''blogs on Website/{{Facebook}} or Website/{{Twitter}}.

Apart from official blogs, it is a popular pastime among roleplayers to maintain fan-made blog accounts for specific fictional characters (and sometimes for convoluted permutations, e.g. alternate universe versions, de-aged versions, genderbent versions, etc.) Participation in JournalRoleplay games typically consists of maintaining a blog and interacting with other characters. Favorite outlets include Website/{{Tumblr}}, Website/{{Twitter}}, Platform/LiveJournal and its clones, and the question-and-answer site [[Website/{{Formspring}} Formspring.me]] (now offline).

* The four main characters of ''Manga/BlackLagoon'' have Website/MySpace pages. They've not been updated in a while, but entail the characters introducing themselves. Anyone familiar with the series would see these introductions as plausible the characters might say in such a circumstance. * ''ComicStrip/{{Luann}}'': The comic had a short arc where Luann and Tiffany have a competition to see which of their Website/MySpace pages can get more friends. Both page addresses appeared in the comic; both actually exist on the web and are written as if by the two characters.

* ''ComicStrip/RexMorganMD'': Not quite the same as a proper blog, but Mayor Dalton's Prostate has gotten its own Website/{{Facebook}} fan page after Rex Morgan, M.D.'s discussions of the organ became a minor meme on Blog/TheComicsCurmudgeon.

* ''Franchise/TheHauntedMansion'' has a flourishing ask blog community on Website/{{Tumblr}}, which includes [[https://asktheghosthost.tumblr.com the Ghost Host]] and [[https://askthehatboxghost.tumblr.com three]] [[https://ask-the-hatbox-ghost.tumblr.com different]] [[https://theheadlessgroom.tumblr.com blogs]] for the Hatbox Ghost.

* The serial killer Carver from ''Series/NipTuck'' had a Website/MySpace, in which he would post videos about his motives and philosophy of life, and finally, unmasking.

* Agent Olympia from ''Series/OddSquad'' has a vlog on Website/YouTube, titled [[AffectionateParody OddTube.]] Some fans say it was mostly made to cover the hiatus from November 2016 into March 2017, but this could just be coincidental. Other characters, like Oona, Otis and Ms. O, have also made appearances on the show. (Both Otis and Oona have filled in for Olympia once.) * It could be argued that most pro wrestlers in the indy scene with [[Website/MySpace MySpaces]] would be doing this as well, most notably Vin Gerard, Chris Hero and all the 'guest columnists' on wwe.com

* A lot of role-playing profiles on Website/MySpace doubled as a character blog. Whether or not they would interact with non-roleplayers depended on the person behind the profile. Almost all of them were fan-made, though. The number of these decreased dramatically once people abandoned the site en masse for Facebook but there are still a few around (mainly because Facebook deletes these kinds of pages regularly).

* There is an official Twitter page for Doug Rattman of VideoGame/{{Portal}}. There are various handfuls of both ask and roleplay blogs on Website/{{Tumblr}} for practically all characters from both Portal games. Including, and not limited to, all the personality cores, [=GLaDOS=], Chell, Rattmann, Cave Johnson, turrets, the emancipation grill, a lemon, the radio... actually, if it's appeared in Portal, there's probably been a blog made for it.

* Website/{{Tumblr}}: Some of the April Fools' characters have their own blogs.

* WebVideo/AgamemnonTiberiusVacuum semi-regularly posts propaganda transmissions on Website/YouTube.

* Howie, Narwhal, Bunny and Duck from ''WesternAnimation/AlmostNakedAnimals'' all have Website/{{Facebook}} pages. Narwhal also has a Twitter.

** And now Caliborn has a ''Website/DeviantArt'' [[http://i-am-your-lord.deviantart.com account.]]

* The Website/SomethingAwful LetsPlay of ''VideoGame/Persona3'', ''Fanfic/MyLifeIsAGoddamnMess'', makes [[http://fromearth.net/LetsPlay/Persona3/Update%202/index.html itself]] into the Website/LiveJournal of the main character (under the name of Minato Arisato and using the profile name Ramenboi1990) describing his adventures, with occasional comments by the other characters (apparently even [[RobotGirl Aigis]] has a blog). Excerpts from Junpei and Yukari's blogs are occasionally seen, mostly describing Minato's actions from a second-person viewpoint.

* Carl "Deathtrap" Draper, a minor ''Franchise/{{Superman}}'' villain turned Checkmate operative in Creator/DCComics, has a blog [[http://www.gideonii.com/ here]], accessable with the user ID "CARL DRAPER" and the password "wilhelmina".

* Creator/MarvelComics' [[BadassAdorable Galacta,]] [[PhysicalGod the Daughter]] [[ExtremeOmnivore of Galactus]] has an official [[http://twitter.com/#!/gali_girl Twitter account.]]

* Marvel Comics' [[ComicBook/{{Excalibur}} Captain Britain]] has his own official [[http://twitter.com/Captain_Britain Twitter.]]

* Dethany in ''ComicStrip/OnTheFastrack'' has tweets presented on the official main page. Like Lindesfarne (see ''Webcomic/KevinAndKell'' below), she appears to consider herself real but knows that Bill Holbrook chronicles much of her life in a comic strip.

* For yet another Holbrook example, Roger in ''ComicStrip/SafeHavens'' has a weekly blog.
* Rat from ''ComicStrip/PearlsBeforeSwine'' has a (fake) [[http://twitter.com/#!/almightyrat_pbs Twitter account.]]
* April Patterson from the newspaper comic ''ComicStrip/ForBetterOrForWorse'' used to have a blog on that comic's website.

* On Series/{{Castle}}'s official website Detective Ryan has one of these, called ''The Ryan Report'', in which he gives his viewpoint on whatever case was worked on in that episode. Castle also has a Twitter account that during the season posts random bits and pieces, but has, for the last two summers, had him solving a mystery without the rest of the cast. A pretty well done mystery too. Occasionally made odd by the Twitter replying to Nathan Filion...

* There's also [[http://nevermedia.blogspot.com/ Never Media,]] which is both a CharacterBlog and a ReviewBlog, involving a vampire who analyzes vampire fiction.

* Several characters from both ''WebAnimation/HazbinHotel'' and its sister series ''WebAnimation/HelluvaBoss'' had Instagram accounts where official artwork was uploaded and presented as actual posts the characters had made. This included [[PopularWithFurries furry fan favorites]] Loona and Octavia, the latter of which was bombarded with sexually explicit artwork of her (and on the squickier side, occasionally featuring her ''and her father''), [[WhyFandomCantHaveNiceThings leading to the account manager finally archiving the account in January 2021 and breaking character on both Stolas and Octavia's accounts to explain that they were incredibly uncomfortable with how the fandom was behaving.]]

* The entire premise of ''WebAnimation/{{Anon}}'' is that it's told from the point of view of Chelsea's anonymous blog posts. There are occasional moments where she stops blogging and the story is told from the views of multiple characters, but then after the time jump in Season 6 the blog aspect is dropped almost entirely apart from a few throwback moments.

* Marvel Comics' [[ComicBook/{{Excalibur}} Captain Britain]] has his own offical [[http://twitter.com/Captain_Britain Twitter.]]

** Bud Spore used to have a blog titled "Spore Samples," but it died of disinterest.

* ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons'': One of the more notorious regulars on the Wizards of the Coast forums posted in-character as fiendish crime lord Shemeshka the Marauder from the ''TabletopGame/{{Planescape}}'' setting. After the forums closed she moved to Twitter.

* During the first four seasons of Degrassi the next generation, ALL the student characters had their own blogs. But once the show kept getting more extreme and melodramatic, they dropped it. You can find captions and screen shots of some of the entries on fan sites.

** In several episodes (starting with "Cat Fingers"), Ronaldo mentions that he has a blog called "Blog/KeepBeachCityWeird". He has even been shown taking pictures and video and posting them to his blog. Indeed, it's a real tumblr blog which was made several months before the series premiered. For a while during the show's run, when new episodes came out, Ronaldo would often post things which were somehow related to the episode (either mentioning actual on-screeen occurrences, or discussing other things which are [[CoincidentalBroadcast coincidentally similar]]), sometimes even updating ''in real time'' as the episode aired. Now ''that's'' dedication.

It's unusual, considering this is non-fiction, but then WordOfGod tells us it ''is'' a PenName who writes the blog...

The blogs contain information about the characters and their backstories [[AllThereInTheManual that isn't in the main series]].

* In the lead-up to the release of ''Film/{{District 9}}'', alien refugee Christopher Johnson ran an anti-MNU propaganda blog in his native StarfishLanguage (but with English translations available at literally the click of a button), unsurprisingly called MNU Spreads Lies. The blog is, of course, no longer online and the URL now redirects to Sony's official site for the movie; luckily, [[http://d9.wikibruce.com/Mnuspreadslies.com every post has been archived]].

* Fang from ''Literature/MaximumRide'' has a [[http://www.max-dan-wiz.com/profiles/blog/list?user=1ovz3wuu6c55b blog]]. Its original location is [[http://maximumride.blogspot.com/ here]], and that's the URL that's given in the books.
* There are several blogs for various sets of ''Literature/TheLordOfTheRings'' characters such as [[http://ask-the-children-of-greenwood.tumblr.com/ Ask the Children of Greenwood]] for the elves of Mirkwood and [[http://ask-the-house-of-elrond.tumblr.com/ Ask the House of Elrond]] for the residents of Imladris.

* Several of the main characters from ''Series/{{Misfits}}'' have official facebook and/or twitter accounts. It was apparently the first tv series to use twitter in such a way, as it actually featured characters posting comments about the show's events during the original broadcast of the episodes, to maintain a sense of soliloquy. TheSmartGuy Simon also has a [[https://www.youtube.com/user/simonmisfits youtube account]], where he posts footage of the other characters that he has supposedly recorded himself (most of it is just-for-fun, supplemental stuff, but one or two of his videos are [[ChekhovsGun vital to the plot]]). They've stepped things up a notch since season 2 began. The characters use twitter to verbally abuse each other on a regular basis.
