The relationship between Captain Oblivious and CaptainObvious is worth discussing. There are three obvious cases: (1) Quite a few cases of CaptainObvious happen because more than one person has been Captain Oblivious, (2) A frequent cause of Captain Obvious is Captain Oblivious finally noticing the obvious, and (3) the two can be completely disjoint (e.g., we're shown, Goofus and Gallant style, Captain Oblivious just walks over said hole while reading a newspaper, never noticing it, and Captain Obvious warning that there's a pothole to somebody trying to fix said hole).

* Gray Ghost in Fanfic/ManehattansLoneGuardian acts cat-like in most situations, up to and including giving other ponies accidental jump-scares just by doing what she does normally. She tends to be largely oblivious to this, being confused at best as to why they're freaking out at her while she's trying to sleep.

Plus there's the persistent RunningGag of just how behind the times Burns is in his world view, with him essentially being oblivious to anything and everything that happened past the early [=1900s=]. Examples include him being unaware of the Great Depression, World War I, the finer details of World War II (like the fact the Nazis were the bad guys), the progress of aviation technology past primitive propeller planes, labor protection law, and generally the skills necessary to navigate modern society without his loyal manservant Smithers guiding his every step.

* The Clinic in VideoGame/Starfield is a space station that houses the best medical facilities in the Freestar Collective, if not the Settled Systems as a whole. What it also houses is one of the highest densities of criminal proceedings in the entire game. Half the staff are dealing in illegal drugs or selling medical supplies on the side, an entire wing is occupied by a shady company performing illegal tests on unwitting human volunteers with lethal results, and the VIP wing plays host to a wanted terrorist, yet the Clinic's leader, Dr. Darvish, is utterly oblivious to any of it.

Soon after emerging, you run into your old Robot Butler, who cheerfully informs you that you're two centuries late for dinner. It's then subverted after you talk to him some more and get him to admit he is well aware of the true state of the world, but keeps putting up a cheerful facade because it's his job to keep his master's mood up as best he can.

Spot Of Tea was renamed Brits Love Tea. Examples that do not mention the character's association with Britain are assumed to be misuse.

-->As I stood in my lonely bedroom at the hotel, trying to tie my white tie myself, it struck me for the first time that there must be whole squads of chappies in the world who had to get along without a man to look after them. I'd always thought of Jeeves as a kind of natural phenomenon; but, by Jove! Of course, when you come to think of it, there must be quite a lot of fellows who have to press their own clothes themselves and haven't got anybody to bring them tea in the morning, and so on. It was rather a solemn thought, don't you know. I mean to say, ever since then I've been able to appreciate the frightful privations the poor have to stick.
