* TheyCopiedItSoItSucks: Usually joking about every time something in a show is unoriginal. Plus many Abridgers eventually throw in a joke attacking ''WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries'' {{fan boy}}s for claiming that all Abridged series steal their jokes from ''WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries''. LittleKuriboh jokingly supports this claim.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: Generally the main protagonist, the straight man, and any competent villains.

* BreakingTheFourthWall: practically as important as the Vital Three. Characters are not only aware that they are in an anime, but who produces them, that they're in an abridged series, who produces the abridged series, and of other abridged series.

* AdaptationDistillation - While exaggerating or parodying the characters and tropes in the original series, the plot can become much more simplified.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation - for those who didn't get CharacterExaggeration.
* AscendedExtra - By editing a small part into other scenes.
* BreakingTheFourthWall - practically as important as the Vital Three. Characters are not only aware that they are in an anime, but who produces them, that they're in an abridged series, who produces the abridged series, and of other abridged series.
* ButtMonkey - Most abridged series will have several of these. If they were a ButtMonkey in the original series, than expect things to get [[UpToEleven much worse]] [[TheChewToy for them]].
* CatchPhrase - [[UpToEleven Nearly every major character will end up getting one]].
* CharacterExaggeration - for those who didn't get AlternativeCharacterInterpretation.
* ClusterFBomb - In some abridged series, all of the swearing is left intact (as in it's not bleeped)

* ContractualGenreBlindness - Often characters will acknowledge that what they're doing is stupid, but it's in character for them to do so.
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy - generally the main protagonist, the straight man, and any competent villains use this.
* DeadpanSnarker - When the characters are being GenreSavvy.

* FourthWallMailSlot - The comment specials.

* GenreSavvy - Even the Ditzes and CloudCuckooLander tend to be GenreSavvy.
* HoYay - GenreSavvy characters (particularly ones from shows with [[CastFullOfPrettyBoys gender-biased]] [[ImprobablyFemaleCast casts]]) may be aware of the [[YaoiFangirl periphery]] [[YuriFan fanbase]].
* JustAStupidAccent - Since most series only have one or two voice actors, they often use silly accents for the minor characters.

* LarynxDissonance - Some series have one to two voice actors and even the ones with more [[MostWritersAreMale rarely have any female cast members]]. Nowadays there are plenty of abridged series where the girls (most of them) are voiced by actual girls.
* {{Macekre}} - If the English dub of the original series was poor quality, expect it to be the butt of many jokes.
* ManOfAThousandVoices - Almost a requirement, even if a series has many voice actors.
* MediumAwareness - To varying degrees.

* NotMakingThisUpDisclaimer - For when the original series (or, in some cases, the English dub) said something so ridiculous or so strange, that the abridger just can't top it.
* OffModel - If the artists or animators messed up, expect it to be mocked. Mercilessly.

* RunningGag - Some gags are even shared among series.

* SoundEffectBleep - Most series have quite a lot of swearing added, and aksi bleep it out either to meet Youtube's standards of decency or for comedy's sake, or both. Some just swear outright though.
* TheStinger - Has reached the point where many abridgers throw out two stingers instead of one.
