To that end, she begins by forcing Mikami to call the Task Force and confess to being Kira before committing suicide, simultaneously subjecting Light and Takada to death by fire so that they can take the Death Note with them. Immediately afterwards, she relinquishes her ownership and hence memories of the Death Note, ensuring that [[MemoryGambit she can't incriminate herself as the 2nd Kira]]. With Soichiro forces to save his wife and daughter from a house fire, L investigates Mikami's death and finds two notes: one supposedly written by Mikami confessing to all of Light's crimes, and another for L's eyes only in which Misa details her plan, not identifying herself but warning L that going after her [[ImpliedDeathThreat won't end well for him]]. With the power of Kira gone from Earth and herself left blissfully unaware, Misa retires with L to Wammy's House.

* ''Fanfic/MadameMalfoyOrAForcedMarriage'' (''Literature/HarryPotter'' & ''Literature/DonQuixote''): Pansy Parkinson is Draco Malfoy's calculating mistress and [[AdaptationalBadass much more resourceful than in canon]]. When [[MadwomanInTheAttic Madman in the Attic]] Lucius Malfoy deliriously claims she is his bride and Draco orders her to distract him until Draco fetches the mediwizards, Pansy goes from shock and fear to the development of a plan. She allows herself to be married to Lucius and follows him on his Literature/DonQuixote-style quest across Wizarding Britain, playing along with his crazy fantasies and deftly explaining the situation to everyone they meet, sometimes with a mere couple of gestures. Finally, she devises a plan to get Lucius to St. Mungo's and puts it into action with the help of Gringotts goblins. Lucius is subdued but the case is pronounced hopeless. Pansy triumphantly tells Draco that since he never bothered to get his father to a hospital before, her marriage to the latter is valid, but now that Lucius ''is'' officially declared insane, Pansy as the wife receives all his possessions. Leaving Draco with only the manor but no money or valuables, Pansy [[KarmaHoudini leaves the country for her new villa in the Canaries]].

Discovering the Original Life Fiber's existence and omnicidal intentions in the 19th century, Aizen started plotting against it, committing his canon deeds to empower his Hogyoku and kill the Soul King in the hopes of taking down the Original Life Fiber. After one of his Akumas seemingly kills Marinette, Hawk Moth chooses to use less destructive Akumas to prevent it from ever happening again. And the event also causes him to reflect on how bad of a father he's been, striving to treat Adrien better. Eventually, he learns that Lila Rossi has been sexually harassing Adrien. After angrily firing her, he takes the opportunity to Akumatize her. Using his Scarlet Moth mode, he creates other Akumas to distract the heroes from her while using her ability to create illusions to weaken Chat Noir using his grief over Marinette's death. [[XanatosGambit If she or the other Akumas actually get the Miraculous from the weakened heroes, he wins, if not, they've angered Chat Noir enough to become Akumatized, giving Scarlet Moth his Miraculous anyway]]. This only fails due to Marinette actually having only faked her death, therefore being able to calm Chat down as Multimouse. Afterwards, he approaches Adrien with the Peacock Miraculous. Sincerely apologizing to Adrien for Marinette's death, and offering to resurrect her as well. After Adrien refuses, he proves to be very understanding. And even in defeat, Gabriel manages to negotiate with the heroes as the Guardians heal his wife to turn himself in in exchange for a reduced sentence, eventually reconciling with Adrien and Emilie, ending the story on a mostly high note. Intelligent, adaptable, and ruthless but not without a conscience, Gabriel proves to be a genuinely compelling antagonist.

To this end, she hatches one final scheme, beginning by decapitating Adam Taurus and presenting the head at a rally. However, after a bomb kills everyone present, Blake discovers that Sienna was actually [[FalseFlagOperation gathering targets in one space to kill all of them at once]], not only making herself into a martyr but also uniting humanity and Faunus for the first time. Her plan succeeds, beginning to [[WellIntentionedExtremist mend the rift between humans and Faunus]] even at the cost of her own life.
** "The Black Knight": [[ObfuscatingStupidity Hazel Rainart]], seeking to [[TheAtoner repent for his actions]] under [[Characters/RWBYSalem Salem]]'s orders, engineers the downfall of all of his allies. Using his status as the group's muscle to mask his devious scheming, Hazel manipulates Cinder into pitting Watts and Tyrian against each other, predicting their mutual paranoia will drive them to attack each other. When this happens, Tyrian is killed; when Cinder then moves to finish Watts off, Hazel ambushes her with cameras a Grimm to record her in the act, leading to her death at the hands of Salem's Grimm. Knowing that Salem will eventually catch him yet working to buy the heroes as much time as possible, Hazel's plan leads to Salem's forces being crippled for years, with himself planning to recruit a new batch of better people for her council.

When Rick asks him to dispose of one of his deceased clones, he disguises it as a druggie and calls the cops, making it look like they shot the clone. When Rick asks him to get him some money to buy a soda, the Kirkland Meeseeks stakes out a bank, becomes a VP, and steals a briefcase of cash, setting the building alight as he walks out. When Rick asks him to break him out of prison, he instigates a prison riot by sowing tension in the midst of the prisoners and teaching them to create shanks, using the chaos as a cover to sneak Rick out of his cell.

* ''VideoGame/FalloutNewVegas'' mod ''Race to the Bottom'' ([[https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/71525 link]]): Hosea is the leader of [[YourTerroristsAreOurFreedomFighters The Vultures]], a resistance movement dedicated to preserving the Mojave’s independence from the NCR. A former Follower of the Apocalypse, Hosea grew disillusioned with the Followers’ pacifism and took to raiding supply caravans to both weaken the NCR and attract recruits by distributing the supplies to the people of New Vegas. Hosea is willing to take the fight to civilians if necessary, robbing and later murdering Ella Hawthorne to send a message to NCR citizens to leave Freeside. After discovering the hydroponic farms in Vault 23, Hosea suggests the Courier kill NCR troops to keep their location secret, then will make plans to distribute the farms’ produce to the poor, both for its own sake and to recruit more people to the Vultures. Hosea’s end goal is to weaken the NCR enough that after they defeat the Legion at Hoover Dam, they will be weakened enough that the people of the Mojave can force them out. While he proves multiple times that he is not without kindness, Hosea is nonetheless willing to kill as many as he has to to keep the NCR from taking control of Vegas.
