A few years later, though, what started as a naive little boy is now a TallDarkAndSnarky mercenary known as TheBlackKnight of Acturia, a feared figure who is, according to Johnson himself and Frederick's lieutenants, is wrecking dad's {{plan}}.

The story goes that Johnson is exiled from his homeland following him killing a Duchess who sexually abused him, and earlier had found [[TheEmperor Frederick's]] darkest secret, [[spoiler: and the thing that is propelling Frederick on the path of TheAtoner in secret]]: A tower full of demons, created in a nauseating way. Johnson started as a male order TheIngenue, oblivious to the evils of the world, though he showed some darker traits such as trying to shank an evil cousin.

A few years later, though, what started as a naive little boy is now a TallDarkAndSnarky mercenary known as TheBlackKnight of Acturia, a feared figure who is, according to Johnson himself and Frederick's lieutenants, is wrecking dad's {{plan}}. [[spoiler: They are all wrong. Johnson turning mercenary is in the plan after all.]]

Tropes applying to Viandas:

* TheAtoner: Richard in and after the Phoebonon Arc. For a General, learning his ruthless, CompleteMonster level tactics cannot work, and have essentially ''devastated him'', and now Richard is "reinventing himself."

* FallenHero: Frederick, Conner, and Zachaia. ''[[AxCrazy ESPECIALLY]]'' [[CombatSadomasochist that]] [[NotSoHarmlessVillain last]] [[CompleteMonster one.]]

* Steelclaws, a domesticated bear. EverythingsWorseWithBears does not apply here, this TeamPet is rather cutesy and nice...off the battlefield. On it, his time with the cruel demon slayer William is shown to have made this bear able to use the abilities of whatever demon it defeats.

* Carlos Viandas, TheSmartGuy to Johnson's TheBigGuy / TheHero. NotSoHarmless describes him. At first, he is a cowardly wuss who runs away rather than fighting. He manages, though, to diffuse violence between Richard and Johnson, and shows some MagnificentBastard abilities. I used Littlefinger as a template for him.

* Jack, the TagAlongKid, a Fox Demon who takes the form of a small child, but is also NotSoHarmless in that Jack is the strongest fox demon of Kimeria. He wants vengeance on a guy named Samuel who works for Ein Woe.

* FallenHero: Frederick, Conner, and Zachaia. ''[[AxCrazy ESPECIALLY]]'' [[CombatSadomasochist that]] [[NotSoHarmless last]] [[CompleteMonster one.]]

Warning: do not read if you cannot handle copious blood and HighOctaneNightmareFuel. Now that pictures are starting to be drawn of some of this stuff, you might find what was once Narm is now pants wettingly horrifying.

[[spoiler: They are all wrong. Johnson turning mercenary is in the plan after all.]]

* EstrogenBrigadeBait: Johnson Viandas, and a strange case in ''Kall Vaalnicus'' according to one reader.

* CompleteMonster: quite a plethora, including the paedophilic general who tried to molest Johnson, and was inferred to have molested Neira. He bit it after turning into a HellHound and being blown to bits by Demon-Johnson's Demon's Cannon.
** Darric, who was once absurdly, narmily villainous, a VillainousCrossdresser CampGay DepravedHomosexual, now averts this. He was born through a KickTheDog moment, and seems to like killing people Johnson is comfortable around...[[ClingyJealousGirl only so Johnson will give him the time of day.]] He has a HeelFaceTurn, then a heartwrenching demise from Lawrence's maid Zachaia, another CompleteMonster on the list.
** Zachaia Viandas, a Maid of Lawrence, was once a one appearance character who voices contempt of Darric's homosexuality. Her expanded, CompleteMonster role is more or less given to a DragonLady from Qing Gong. I recently merged them, resulting in this bitch. She brutally kills Darric, manipulates Lawrence, becomes a demon in exchange for power, but her personality remains unchanged because she killed her twin sister Lisbeth Viandas, and put her heart in Lisbeth's body temporarily via magic. Even Wolfang hates her. Her planned demise at the end is very cathartic already.
** Frederick averts this too, but YMMV. He genuinely regrets everything Kall made him do in order to save the world from the Seven God-Emperors of Gaia, and their boss: [[spoiler: Gaia]]. He even wills himself to die to let Johnson have the reign when he knows Johnson has developed enough to be a better king.
** The Wailing Troope: a bunch of mercenaries employed by Matthew, one of the eldest of the princes. Why are they called the wailing troop? [[spoiler: they keep their previous victims with them nailed to planks and force them to wail at the top of their lungs or have another nail impaled in their arm or leg]]. They have such sterling members as:
*** The Chopper: narmy name huh? What sets him apart? He has discovered a magic that lets him keep someone alive after chopping someone in half, and uses it all the time just to lengthen the torture. He also [[{{Lolicon}} mentions his pay includes little girls.]]
*** Langley Clanch, the deputy to their leader, Maldred Karne. He got the job by ripping out the throat of the previous CompleteMonster to hold the job right in front of everyone else. He continues holding it by skinning all his victims and making clothes from their skin. He keeps a skinless female sex slave, and likes making her molest his younger victims before killing said victims.
*** Maldred Karne himself, a cannibal half demon who has BodyHorror as a power. He only wears cloaks made from the skin of the faces of Lagley Clanch's victims. He enjoys messing with your head before killing you, taking the forms of your loved ones and having them say that they all hate you.
*** Hell, even their serving boys are pure evil, Zachaia's StartOfDarkness involved being raped by some of them.
