Their lyrics outwardly seem to diss any authority on principle, but if you actually listen to the verses, it can be gleaned they're actually [[CompassionateCritic demanding the governments to get off their collective ass and do good for all mankind like they should]].
* TwentyBearAsses: HeavyMithril filk, using "no shit there I was" stories as a FramingDevice. The HoYay [[TransparentCloset manages not to take over]].
* AbnormalPlushies: Band that writes what seems to be wholesome, cheery pop. However, each song has one or two lines that sound out of place and totally change the context.
* AboveTheInfluence: Indie rock band with deeply ironic lyrics poking fun at ScareEmStraight tactics. They've been headed off the rails ever since their first guitarist was caught dealing drugs, and they've released an album titled ''NotSoAboveItAll''.
* AbsentMindedProfessor: Indie-electronica nerd rock prone to forgetting the words to their songs live.
* AbsurdPhobia: Comedy Death Metal
* AbsurdlySharpBlade: Orchestral improvisational blues & funk.
* AbsurdlyShortProductionTime: Mumble rap. All of their songs are produced in the span of two hours.
* AbsurdlySpaciousSewer: Punk Rock.
* The AbusiveOffspring: A group of adults who pretend to be {{Bratty Half Pint}}s. Known for their single "AndYourRewardIsParenthood". FriendlyFandoms with ParentsAreWrong.
* AccidentalDanceCraze: Disco, with lots of SelfDeprecation.
* AccidentalMurder: Death metal but with comedic lyrics.
* AccidentalPervert: Their songs have a lot of innuendo.
* AccentuateTheNegative: Covers a wide range of genres, but the lyrics to every single one of their songs are always an angry rant about any subject they can think of. The bitter [[TheRival rival]] of the band TakeThat.
* [[AccordionMan Accordion Men]]: A quartet of accordion virtuosos, doing anything from musical epics to covers of Music/JudasPriest.
* AchievementsInIgnorance: Punk Rock band that does the impossible: They sing rather than scream.
* ActionBomb: Band members do martial arts and there are special effects that look like explosions.
* ActionGirl: RiotGrrrl rock band, who sing about female empowerment, girl soldiers, historical women fighters, etc. All members are advanced in martial arts.
* AdaptationDeviation: Said to be one of the greatest musical groups to ever grace the TV Tropesverse. They had a falling out and everyone lost track of what became of them, but an infinite number of conspiracy theories were born around them. [[spoiler:In reality, the members are actually [[Series/DoctorWho Time Lords]] who regenerated as other musicians, all of whom are considered the best players of their respective instruments: The vocalist regenerated as Music/MariahCarey, the guitarist became Music/JimiHendrix, the bassist became [[Music/{{Primus}} Les Claypool]], the drummer became [[Music/RushBand Neil Peart]], and the kayboardist became Music/EltonJohn.]]
* AdaptationalHeroism: A ProgressiveRock group with a GoldAndWhiteAreDivine motif, all of their concerts means of providing money for charities. Their most successful tour was done in celebration of their AdaptationDeviation cover album, leading many to believe that they are, in-fact, AdaptationDeviation after returning with a new look.
* AdaptationalMundanity: Famous songs with all the objectionable content removed, like Music/KidzBop. Their debut album, ''AbridgedForChildren'', would be totally unnotable if not for the fact that it features an AdaptationDeviation song. This has lead to conspiracies over whether or not the two bands are actually connected.
* AdaptationalSexuality: A GlamRock group [[CastFullOfGay made entirely out of people on the LGBT+ spectrum]]. There are rumors that their manager was a former member of AdaptationDeviation, a rumor only compounded when they did a cover version of one of their hit songs.
* AdaptationalVillainy: A DeathMetal-{{Goth}} group with a [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver red]], [[GreenAndMean green]], [[PurpleIsTheNewBlack purple]] and black color motif. Their albums are all about plagues, corporate corruption and disobeying your parents, every one of their concerts ending in riots. After releasing an AdaptationDeviation cover album, conspiracy theorists have come to believe that they are AdaptationDeviation under a new look, having grown cynical from their time in the music industry and plan on using their music to reign anarchy upon the world.
* AdaptationalWeaponSwap: A guitarist, a bass-player, a drummer and a keyboard player. They are each versed in each other's instruments and after playing a song, they will swap instruments and play each other's. Since they each have less experience with each other's instruments, the songs sound different each time. Rumors abound that they were originally the band AdaptationDeviation before they decided to go underground and experiment with their talents.
* AdamWesting: A comedic rock band made up of hardcore ''Franchise/{{Batman}}'' enthusiasts. Similar to the style of TheNthDoctor, the members wear ''Franchise/{{Batman}}'' costumes at concerts: the lead singer is Batman, the guitarist is the Joker, the bassist is Robin, the keyboardist is Penguin, and the drummer is the Riddler. Occasionally, Catwoman plays bass when Robin can't make it.
* AdultFear: Gangster rap group, touching on drug abuse, gun crimes, and other things that naturally make people go on edge at the very thought of them.
* AdventureArchaeologist: Symphonic RockOpera band about an Archaeologist who discovers a foreboding prophecy detailing the end of the world and his efforts to stop it. The band have been banned from performing in several cities due to fears that people might think the prophecy is real.
* AdvertisingByAssociation: Touts all their albums with "BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE PEOPLE BEHIND AdaptationDeviation"... and by that, they mean the lead singer used to be a light technician for them. Their actual music is DarthWiki/SoBadItsHorrible. AdaptationDeviation fans like to review-bomb AdvertisingByAssociation's albums.
* AffablyEvil: Glam rock band from Bristol, UK that writes entire albums of {{Villain Song}}s.
* TheAfterafterlife: A BlackMetal band-turned Unblack Metal band-turned DeathMetal band that abandoned the traditional religious themes in-favor of older mythologies and Lovecraft.
* AfterTheEnd: Ambient electronic with a lot of field recordings. Sounds more like screamo; they do both. Sometimes within the same song. Despite never doing well in the USA, [[GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff they have a cult following in the UK]] that call themselves Enders.
* AgainstMyReligion: Metalcore band that often gets mistaken for ChristianRock.
* AimlesslySeekingHappiness: As presented in-universe, it's meant to be upbeat pop, but the singer has StoppedCaring and can't muster the energy to enjoy it.
* AirstripOne: A Central-European hybrid of sludge and power metal, with a massive helping of story elements and [[AnAesop messages to the audience]]. [[ConceptAlbum Each of their albums]] is based around [[TakeThat harsh criticism]] [[DeconstructorFleet towards a given set of]] GrimDark fiction tropes and [[Administrivia/TropesAreTools thoughtless usage thereof]]; their debut album, ''[[SelfTitledAlbum Airstrip One]]'', spells out [[{{Anvilicious}} in no uncertain terms]] how horrible [[{{Deconstruction}} life would actually be]] in your typical {{dystopia}}n {{police state}}, and their second album, ''CorporateWarfare'', skewers the usage of CyberpunkTropes for the purpose of setting up an [[AdventureFriendlyWorld "adventure-friendly" world]]. The band's website and promotional graphics are made to look like [[GraffitiOfTheResistance rebel propaganda from a dystopian world]], and during live shows they always start playing in disguise, only to perform a DramaticUnmask later on. The band has recently toured with BombThrowingAnarchists, and the lead guitarist gave hints of a possible collaboration between the two.
* AIIsACrapshoot: Produces concept albums about bleeding-edge speculative technology. Lead singer is never credited or seen in public, but does an excellent impersonation of [[Film/TwoThousandOneASpaceOdyssey HAL 9000]].
* AliensInCardiff: A Welsh tribute band for AliensOfLondon.
* AlienKudzu: A band from the DeepSouth. Their style is hard to pin down, but it's best described as an unholy mix of indie rock, rockabilly, and bluegrass with trace influences from country and western. Most of their songs are lighthearted parodies of nerd culture, redneck culture, and people who don't entirely fit into either ([[SelfDeprecation like themselves]]).
* AliensOfLondon: British nerd rock.
* AlienSky: Symphonic Ambient band from Texas formed from members of a high school astronomy club. They use melodic guitar and synthesizer combined with florid lyrics and vocals to tell stories about life in the TheFuture. Their singer is an amateur science fiction writer who writes all the lyrics. Currently, they're putting the finishing touches on the ''CasualInterstellarTravel'' saga about the human colonization of space consisting of the [[ConceptAlbum concept albums]] ''FasterThanLightTravel'', ''SingleBiomePlanet'', ''DeathWorld'', ''{{Precursors}}'' and ending it with ''TheFederation''. After finishing with this, the singer has planned out ''UsedFuture'', a saga about the grimy underside of the Future and ''TheBattlestar'', a saga about the first interstellar war. The plans for both were nearly sent into DevelopmentHell after a terrorist attack occurred at one of the band's shows, killing several members of the audience, the band's drummer and bassist, the band members' parents, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and]] a light technician. A former member of AllDrummersAreAnimals was brought on as the new drummer while a former member of AwfulBritishSexComedy became the new bassist.
* AllDrummersAreAnimals: Percussion quintet. One of it's former members went on to become the new drummer for AlienSky after the old one was killed in a terrorist attack.
* AllForNothing: Angsty NuMetal band from Southern California.
* AllMenArePerverts: RiotGrrrl
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: Electronic band that only makes remixes of {{Engrish}} from video games. Their first two singles, "(I! Garland! Will) KNOCK YOU ALL DOWN!" and "You Spoony Bard", became Website/YouTube sensations, with over 50 million views each. Their career came to an abrupt end after somebody set up them the bomb, killing two members and a light technician.
* AloneAmongTheCouples: Emo rock about loneliness love being painful.
* AloneWithThePsycho: American death-metal band. Consists of four guys and a girl, all dressed in black and disguised to the point that they all look the same.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Indie rock band based out of Massachusetts performed by five people: two guitars, bass, drums and synthesizer. They dress up like famous villains (Vader/Emperor Palpatine, Sauron, Megatron, etc.) and do songs that show they're not really the bad guys or are just really incompetent. They played their first gig at a small-time comic con, setting up within a hour and performing a song about how Darth Vader is not really a bad guy. Their ''Literature/{{Redwall}}''-themed spoof of "I Am The Walrus" about [[FemmeFatale Sela Vixen]] became a #1 hit in Japan but stalled at #95 in their native United States. Sometimes they'll dress up like famous heroes (Luke Skywalker, Aragorn, Neo, etc) and do songs that show they're not really good guys or are just really incompetent. Currently on tour with InstantCosplaySurprise and EvilerThanThou.
* AlwaysCamp: A {{Glam|Rock}}-{{Disco}} ensemble singing group composed entirely of drag-queens. The concert bars serve only Zima Clearmalt and Appletinis while they're showing and all of the bathrooms are gender-neutral.
* AlwaysChaoticEvil: A Thrash-Grindcore-Black Metal band with lyrics centered around KickTheDog moments. (Sounds just like Anaal Nathrakh)
* AmbiguouslyHuman: Light horror rock.
* AmbiguouslyTrained: {{Hipster}} AlternativeIndie FolkMusic from the DeepSouth that made it big in UsefulNotes/{{Portland}}, UsefulNotes/{{Oregon}}. Forgoes the stereotypical [[MightyLumberjack lumberjack]]/denim-look in-favor of a foe military uniform.
* AmbiguousSituation: The band members all wear shrouds concealing their faces and they sing lyrics that are open to several interpretations.
* AmericanKirbyIsHardcore: An American kawaii metal band (think Music/{{Babymetal}}) made up of Franchise/{{Kirby}} fans. The lead singer/guitarist is a DreadfulMusician dressed as Kirby, the rhythm guitarist is dressed as Meta Knight, the bassist is dressed as King Dedede, and the drummer is dressed as a Waddle Dee.
* AmericansHateTingle: British band whose albums have sold so poorly overseas that they're only popular in Britain.
* AmmunitionConservation: NuMetal band whose lyrics deal with the nuances of combat, including preventing wasted bullets.
* AmnesiacDissonance: Industrial noise with echoes of [[SuspiciouslySimilarSong vaguely familiar tunes]] played with out of tune instruments and things pulled from the scrapyard. Their albums frequently end in multiple cacophonous medleys of conflicting musical styles with delirious [[{{Yarling}} nose yodeled]] [[MondegreenGag mondegreens]] just before fading out with screams, wailing, and crying children.
* AmnesiacLiar: Their songs are made up of lies about history and keep trailing off as though the singer was forgetting lyrics.
* The {{Amoral Attorney}}s: Cheery indie-pop band from UsefulNotes/WashingtonDC (which famously has "more lawyers than people") who sing about how awful lawyers are (and life in DC more generally, but it's the lawyer songs that get them gigs). [[SelfDeprecation All members, past and present, have been lawyers]], although only the singer is a Big Law hotshot; the lead guitar and bassist work for the Department of Justice and the drummer works for the DC Public Defender Service.
* AmusingInjuries: A quasi-pop-punk/indie band with quite a bit of acoustic guitar in their sound and song lyrics that suggest a fixation with sadomasochism.
* AnachronismStew: Medieval electronica.
* AncientConspiracy: New Age.
* AndIMustScream: Metal band with lots of unsettling ambient electronic elements and a strange fascination with the idea of being "trapped".
* AndManGrewProud: Dronecore instrumentals, à la Music/GodspeedYouBlackEmperor.
* TheAntiGrinch: A {{Goth}} [[FolkMusic Folk Singer]] that tries very hard to appeal to the HipHop crowd, but ends up becoming the whitest thing ever.
* AntiHero: Metal rock band is known to writing many albums and donates charity for the society, but it includes violence and gore. [[{{Squick}} The less said about it, the better.]]
* TheAntiNihilist: A Doom/Power Metal band know for their albums which start out with depressive lyrics and slow music, but by the end of them the songs become much lighter and bombastic, with the lyrics shifting to existentialist and hopeful themes.
* ApocalypseHow:
** Extremely loud, abrasive electronic noise.
** A versatile metal band: speed, grove, trash, black, death, heavy, you name it.
* ApocalypseNot: Death metal spoof.
* ApocalypseWow: Death metal band with with spectacular special effects at all their concerts.
* ApocalypticLog: Might be nice if they lightened up a little. The songs at the beginning of their albums have a fairly optimistic tone, by the final tracks the lyrics are incredibly depressing and the singer sounds like he's been screaming for an extended period of time.
* ApocalypseMaiden: An all-girl goth/metal band that's an offshoot of ApocalypticLog. In an interview, cited ''[[http://www.kittierocks.com/ Kittie]]'' as a major influence.
* ApatheticCitizens: Political punk band, similar sound to Anti-Flag, British-based; their first single was "48%" (the proportion of eligible voters who voted in the 2005 UK general election)
* The {{Apathetic Student}}s: They didn't pay much attention to their music lessons, so they only have a slight clue of what they're doing. Widely regarded as SoOkayItsAverage.
* AppliedPhlebotinum: Experimental nerd-comedy offshoot of DirtyCommies with a strong Frank Zappa influence. Too weird to describe.
* ArchivePanic: One dude who makes experimental music like the Residents. [[LongRunners Ever since 1967]], he's released at least twenty albums a month, not to mention the number of bootlegs, singles, live albums, mixtapes and compilations...
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: Emo+Death Metal+Children's rock. Each song starts out dark, gets darker, then becomes trivial.
* ArtCourse: Expiremental album that teaches you how to draw in the form of catchy songs.
* ArtistAndTheBand: GenreRoulette band with lyrics that [[DeconstructedTrope deconstruct]] whatever genre they're singing about.
* ArtisticLicenseBiology: A band that spoofs sayings like "My heart is breaking" and "A lump in my throat" with songs about what would happen if that was ''literally'' true.
* ArtisticLicenseMilitary: A controversial metalcore/crossover thrash band, where all of the band members are dressed in military uniform and army fatigues, and the lyrics are a bombastic satire of military traditions, hierarchy, and boot camp. They generally pal around with bands such as Music/SystemOfADown and Music/DeadKennedys. Formerly entitled "You Fail Basic Training Forever", the managing label encouraged them ([[ThatWasntARequest not too subtly]]) to change their name and suggested that they invoke a bit of "artistic license". The band evidently took their suggestions a bit too literally.
* AscendedGlitch: A two-man epic glitchstep band.
* AscendedMeme: A Music/WeirdAlYankovic style band that chooses a meme and writes a song about it (songs that are already memes are covered). Hit singles include ''[[VideoGame/DawnOfWar Our Enemies Hide In Metal Boxes]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/BioShock1 Nothin' like a Fistfulla Loitnin']]''. [[OnceAnEpisode One song]] in an album is [[OverusedRunningGag always]] ''[[JustForFun/{{Rickroll}} Never Gonna Give You Up]]'' [[JustForFun/{{Rickroll}} disguised as a different song]].
* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: The s-l-o-o-o-w-e-s-t and DARKEST prog metal you will ever hear. The band members play "live" concerts, in quotation marks: all the lights are turned off and the band members are behind the curtains.
* AssShove: A hip-hop artist known for a music video which shows him ramming various objects, including people's heads, into random people's asses.
* ATeamFiring: Another nerdy tribute band, this team for ''Series/TheATeam''. The guitarist is Murdock, the keyboardist/lead vocalist is Face, the bassist is Hannibal, and the drummer is B.A. All four members have concealed weapons licenses. Most notable for their spot-on {{Filk}} parody of "[[{{Series/Firefly}} The Ballad of Serenity]]" (now "[[RunningGag My Dog Named Billy]]").
* AteHisGun: A comedy rock band dealing with whacky lyrical themes.
* AtomicFBomb: A heavy metal band whose songs always have at least one swear word that is being delivered loud. Really loud.
* AtopAMountainOfCorpses: As Black as Black Metal gets, absurdly popular in Norway, banned everywhere else.
** Alternatively, a StealthParody of black metal. They started out busking for a bit until they recorded their self-titled first album, which metal fans considered awesome despite the fact it was a parody.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: A recent group, unconstrained by genre; they'll play anything, for no longer than sixty seconds (if you're lucky). Early shows had light displays until they proved ''way'' too distracting... to the band.
* AttractMode: Electronica by a nerdy-but-sexy girl band. They also released {{Remix Album}}s under the "ArrangeMode" label.
* AutobotsRockOut: Transformers nerd rock (Rockformers?) that started out playing classic and '80s Rock about various bits of the expansive Transformers lore. Gained a loyal following with their first album ''Truck Not Monkey'' (with the TitleDrop song poking fun at the fans outrage over Optimus Primal in ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars''), and close every live performance with a cover of ''The Touch''.
* AwfulBritishSexComedy: A punk band from Great Britain known for satirical lyrics focusing how modern societies treat [[DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale female on male rape]], [[SexEqualsLove the idea that only people in love should do it]], [[MyGirlIsNotASlut promiscuity]], [[VirginShaming virgins]], sexual minorities including but not limited to the LGBT community, and our obsession with sex in general. All of the members have been accused of homophobia at least once, whilst one former member became the new drummer for AlienSky.
* AwfulTruth: Indie retro sound, political satire lyrics.
* AxCrazy: A heavy metal band with lyrical themes dealing with warriors, soldiers, terrorists, and murderers, both fictional and historical.
* BabyBeMine: Four guys who sing cheesy pop love songs.
* BackgroundMusic: A professional lounge and ambient artist who makes music for films and advertisements.
* BadassBack: A rock group that plays all of their instruments facing backwards.
* BadassBookworm: Rock, but full of references to classic literature.
* BadFuture: A punk rock band featuring a time-traveling robot guitarist... or someone in a really, ''really'' good disguise. Very involved in social activism. Do lots of charity drive concerts with DarkIsNotEvil.
* BadInfluencer: Hard rock that makes the {{Moral Guardian}}s squirm.
* BaldOfEvil: Chrome-domed heavy metal. Parody[=/=]IndecisiveParody of '80s glam metal.
* BannedInChina: Australian hard rock band who sing songs about any kind of civil war, native uprising or anything the government doesn't want spoken about they can find. They haven't been banned in China yet, but they're working on it. Finally got [[TitleDrop Banned in China]] for talking about the independence of Tibet.
* [[TheBaroness Baroness]]:
** Female-fronted European act that combines elements of symphonic metal, dark electronica, and steampunk. Their lead singer is a classically trained operatic contralto who claims to be descended from German nobility and dresses like a high-class Victorian dominatrix.

* BatmanCanBreatheInSpace: A [[SwagRap Swag]] project by a freestyle duo with a rotating DJ/producer and frequent guest artists on their albums. Known for their grandiose stage personas and frequent sampling of superhero cartoon dialogue. Probably most famous for their BoastfulRap showdown: "It's an operating table... and I'm the surgeon."
* BattleButler: Death metal and everyone dresses like stereotypical butlers.
* BattleInTheRain: Alternative rock with a dash of 80's pop, they tend to use water as a form of symbolism in their songs or videos.
* BattyLipBurbling: A group of douchebags that enter the talent show banging indiscriminately on trash, call it dubstep and think they are being funny.
* BazaarOfTheBizarre: Psychedelic indie pop with Middle Eastern influences. (Imagine if of Montreal spent a year in Cairo or Tehran).
* BareFistedMonk: Soft-rock group that shuns any instrument they can't play with their bare hands.
* BeamSpam: Electronic with epilepsy-inducing music videos.
* BearsAreBadNews: A Russian folk band best known for poking fun at President/PM Medvedev. Their best known song so far is "[[https://globalvoices.org/2010/03/03/medvedev-gnome/ I Am a Merry Gnome]]".
* BeautifulAllAlong: Disney-sponsored teen actors trying to launch a singing career.
* TheBeautifulElite: combines rock, pop, electronic and techno. Widely loved as a band. All gorgeous, and none of them single.
* BeautifulVoid:
** Metal with emo band with insane guitar riffs. Which are all beautiful.
** '90s One-hit-wonder (hit song: ''GhostCity'') who have maintained a cult following since then. Pop rock with a dark undertone and a lot of lyrics about social issues. Did a lot of live shows, until their career was cut short after the lead singer died following their ''NothingIsScarier'' tour. As of 2009, they have released a comeback album with a new singer titled ''AfterTheEnd''.
* BecomeARealBoy: Screamo. Known to many fans as BARB.
* BeefGate: Hardcore industrial NoiseRock.
* BeginWithAFinisher: They always open their concerts with the AlbumClosure track and then go in reverse order.
* BehindTheBlack: Former lead singer of a black metal band ditches his costuming and heavy makeup to go solo with LighterAndSofter unplugged versions of his former hits.
* BeliefMakesYouStupid: Comedic Christian rock group. Think a cross between Music/{{Stryper}} and Weird Al. Despite the name, the members are all devout Christians.
* BerserkButton: Nu-metal band whose songs serve as allegory for societal issues that tend to bend people the wrong way, such as 9/11, school shootings or spousal abuse. Think a cross between Music/AnalCunt and Weird Al.
* BetterAsFriends: Wholesome, G-rated pop music about friendship. Mainly specializes in {{Pep Talk Song}}s and {{Self-Empowerment Anthem}}s.
* BetterPartnerAssertion: Parody of mainstream celebrity {{Break Up Song}}s. A HopelessSuitor finds out that his ex is with someone new, and continually whines about how she should take him back because he's better. Their SignatureSong is "EntitledToHaveYou".
* Better Than Canon (now defunct): A band that does fancy versions of classical songs. First single is a "better" version of Pachebel's Canon in D.
* BettyAndVeronica: A female two-man band that does HardRock covers of various songs, including a cover of Music/TheBeeGees's "Stayin' Alive" that's widely considered as good, or even better than, the original.
* {{BFS}}: Indie-Techno. Though they later came to regret the name after they gained popularity due to being confused with the OTHER [[Music/BowlingForSoup BFS]]
* BigDamnHeroes: Unpredictable, but very popular, rock. Alternately, a ''{{Series/Firefly}}'' comedy band similar to TheNthDoctor and AdamWesting, with Mal on guitar, Inara on bass, Wash on keyboards, Kaylee on drums, River singing, and Jayne on tambourine and rain stick.
* BigFancyHouse: Disney-style kids' pop with a lot of instruments utilized.

* BigHeartedBigfoot: A PsychedelicRock band known for their slow, ambient beats. They went viral when one of their concerts were crashed by a guy in a Sasquatch suit, only for him to pull out a saxophone and start playing with them. It was their manager doing a bit and the whole thing was staged.
* BigNo: A band that was alternative rock back before there was alternative rock. Unless you have a cassette player, expect to search long and hard for any of their songs.
* BigWhat: Very surrealist band with nonsensical lyrics in every song and crazy outfits on the members.
* BigWhy: Band whose members pretend to go insane from the weight of classic big questions like the meaning of life.
* The BitPartBadGuys: {{Chiptune}} artists whose tracks are named after villains from classic video games.
* BladeEnthusiast: Thrash metal artist. His tracks are named after different types of swords. "Naginata" features a guest appearance by PsychoKnifeNut. Was relatively popular until an incident during his ''SwipeYourBladeOff'' tour in which a "prop" sword turned out to be a ''real'' one from his collection, injuring an audience member.
* BlatantLies: Grunge metal with a penchant for dark, depressing and nigh-on impenetrable lyrics.
* BlazingInfernoHellfireSauce: A heavy/death metal band whose vocalist always drinks hot sauce before every recording session or live performance.
* BlindedByTheSun: Sunshine pop that slowly becomes DarkerAndEdgier as the band puts out new music.
* BlindIdiotTranslation: Japanese band whose English lyrics have been run through Babelfish several times. They are frequently accused of being a StealthParody of CrystalDragonJesus, a charge that their lead singer vigorously denies.
* BlingOfWar:
** A pompous military orchestra using oversized brass instruments and heavy weaponry in their performances. Wear green costumes, {{Commissar Cap}}s, and [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin lots of regalia]].

* TheBlofeldPloy: Metal, mostly of the screaming variety, but with occasional forays into death metal territory.

* ABloodyMess: Parody of gory rock.
* BlondeRepublicanSexKitten: Like ComicBook/JosieAndThePussyCats, but they're a StealthParody of the Christian far right.
* BodyHorror: KCMO based goregrind band known for their lyrical themes of parasites, surgery, mutation, body modification, testing on living subjects, and other biological themes. Their vocals are well pronounced and easy to understand, which is somewhat unpleasant due to the great descriptions of various body horrors. All of the members have biology degrees, and some study anatomy and parasitism. Their live performances have been banned in a few cities due to footage of parasites and surgery being projected behind them on a screen, and the various other gimmicks performed on stage (disassembling a dead pig over the course of the show and hosting a bbq afterwards, inviting audience members on to the stage for piercings, selling preserved parasites in jars after shows, etc.) i.e. Music/{{Carcass}}. They weren't allowed to do music for ''VideoGame/BrutalLegend'''s Tainted Coil faction because they gave the dev team nightmares.
* BoisterousBruiser: Hard rock. Well known for their enormous amounts of drums and energetic, shouted singing style. Currently on tour with HotBlooded.
* BombThrowingAnarchists: Anarchopunk band with sarcastic lyrics about political issues, they also parody the popular culture image of anarchists as [[AnarchyIsChaos destructive maniacs.]]
* BoomInTheHand: Heavy Metal band doing music about stuff blowing up in people's hands.
* BottomlessPits: Death Metal band who hold the record for the lowest tuning still audible by humans (also they sing about caves a lot...).
* BreadEggsMilkSquick: Country/R&B/Punk/Emo crossover band.
* BrainBleach: Plays electronic versions of baroque chamber music. When they formed, they picked the name to sell more digital downloads.
* BrainChain: ConceptAlbum about a society where genuises are imprisoned, and have to pretend to be stupid to get by.
* BrainFreeze: A softcore rock band whose demographic is aimed at the children's department.
* BreakTheCutie: An emo cover band that takes the darkest songs of the genre and re-writes the lyrics to make them seem cheerier. They originally started out doing this with Music/DeathCabForCutie songs, hence their name.
* BreakTheHaughty: Similar to KillTheCutie, more punk than BreakTheCutie. Best known for identifying the ironic hipster preps in the crowd and instructing the real fans to set them on fire with the lighters they're waving.
* BrickJoke: Rock music. Their albums drop in some weird lines that seem kind of out-of-place, but by the ending track, everything ends up making sense. Their drummer used to be in RunningGag.
* BrokenAce: A deranged yet fascinating mix of hyperactive NoisePop with brooding old-school {{Emo}} and {{Hardcore}}. Loves UncommonTime.
* BrokenAesop: Industrial band whose samples largely come from political slogans and evangelists.
* BrokenBase: A band whose fan's can't decide if they are Alternative Rock or Pub Rock.
* Brother Chuck (now defunct): A project consisting entirely of [[ThePeteBest Pete Bests]] and other former members of successful bands.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Mix of pop and rock -- right now, the lead singer's in rehab, the electric guitar player's in prison for arson, the drummer's getting married, and the bass player's become an actor.
* TheBurlesqueOfVenus: A {{Pop}} [[GirlGroup Group]] of {{Idol Singer}}s that ramp up the sex appeal and claim that it is purely for artistic integrity.
* BurnTheWitch: Blackened-Death metal band who's songs mostly deal with witchcraft. Known to burn an effigy of a witch at every live show.

* ByronicHero: A popular, hardcore and fascinating rock band with conflicting issues with a hint of blooding old-school {{Emo}} personality.
* ByThePowerOfGreyskull: Epic metal or folk metal rock band.
* CalmingTea: Plays soft music suitable for young children, with lyrics about appreciating nature's beauty and all sorts of wholesome memories that remind you of home.
* {{Calvinball}}: Nobody's really sure what they are, because they completely change their style... and members... and name... at every single concert.
* CampGay: A [[{{Pop}} poppy,]] [[GlamRock glamorous]], slightly [[PunkRock punk]] quintet, with a highly polished sound, flamboyant stage performances, and a harpsichord as backup. The songs are all either [[SillyLoveSongs sappy love songs]] or [[EmoMusic slightly angsty]] [[AntiLoveSong attacks]] [[BreakUpSong on love and romance]].
* CanadaEh: A bar cover band, the members are mainly from and live in the United States, but their gimmick is celebrating the US's northern neighbor. They mostly do covers of well-known songs by Canadian musical artists (Rush, Alanis Morrisette, Celine Dion, etc.), they dress like Mounties, lumberjacks, hockey players, fur trappers, moose, beavers, [[WesternAnimation/TheRaccoons raccoons]], [[WesternAnimation/ToadPatrol toadlets]], etc. and between sets they talk like Bob and Doug [=McKenzie=] and drink Molson.
* JustForFun/CandleJack: Gothic metal. Prominently displays a banner with its name at all of their shows. Also known for closing a show by saying "We're Candle Jack, sons of..." proceeding to quickly kill the lights to black out the stage.
* CanonImmigrant: Folk rock.
* CanonMarchesOn: Plays classical music in a more modern style.
* CantDefaultToMurder: Alternative rock. The songs are, in-universe, sung by an angsty teen who wishes to inflict severe harm on the people who have wronged him... until others tell him it's illegal, at which point he comes up with sillier punishments.
* CaptainObviousAesop: A {{Nerdcore}} band with lyrics inevitably preaching the truths that everyone already considers obvious. Their first single was a [[VoiceClipSong trap remix]] of [[WesternAnimation/SouthPark Mr. Mackey's]] "DrugsAreBad" line.
* CapturedByCannibals: A quirky blend of ProgRock, {{Punk}}, and experimental UncommonTime a bit reminiscent of Music/FrankZappa and Music/OingoBoingo. No hit songs but they have a fanatical cult following.
* TheCardinalVirtues: A four-person PowerMetal band with a white and gold color motif. Most of their songs are about wars between TheArmiesOfHeaven and TheLegionsOfHell, sometimes including the gods of Myth/ClassicalMythology and Myth/NorseMythology joining the war in an all-out cosmic event.
* CassandraTruth: Borderline emo, every song predicts doom and gloom of the worst variety. The lead singer is legendary for her waily vocals.
* CastFromHitPoints: DarkFantasy HeavyMithril RockOpera. Wear armor with built-in fireworks, so it looks like they're actually doing magic, and hooked up with pipes that squirt fake blood when the firework is launched ([[NiceToTheWaiter the arena janitors and their families are given the best seats at the concert]], and [[DontTryThisAtHome Do Not Attempt!]] is emblazoned across the screen when they shoot at each other). Have understudy band members so the leads can hand off their instruments and duel without messing up the song. Work very closely with fantasy moviemakers (including an anime company) to make their {{Music Video}}s ([[NoidsAndDoodles a fusion of live action actors for humans/ humanoids and animated monster opponents]], set in an animated environment). Famous for a grand finale pitched battle, mimicking an RPG battle screen, and PetTheDog moments [[DarkIsNotEvil despite]] their DarkerAndEdgier story-singing. They also incorporate their sound tech and roadies into the show. Trying to get their RockOpera made into a TV show (à la' ''WesternAnimation/{{Metalocalypse}}''). The artists themselves are a FiveManBand, with TheHero on lead, TheLancer on Bass, the WhiteMagicianGirl on keyboard, TheBigGuy on drums, and TheSmartGuy on "explosive instrumentation". Every so often, a SixthRanger shows up. He's considered to be the best out of all of them, and his appearance is quite rare, so it's considered a treat by all involved (in the vids, he acts as a DeusExMachina, who only shows during their DarkestHour). According to WordOfGod, shares a [[TheVerse 'Verse]] with OrionDrive.
* CastHerd: Electro-pop group [[NoCelebritiesWereHarmed that sounds very similar to Devo]].
* TheCatchphraseCatchesOn: Sings memorable lyrics that the band wants to catch on as everyday terms. Hasn't worked yet, but there's still hope...
* CatholicSchoolGirlsRule: All-girl rock band, who perform in Catholic private school uniforms, complete with lollipops (the guitars, drums, etc. being painted in a pink-swirl lollipop motif), pleated skirts, knee-high socks and pigtails. Every single one of their songs is a three-minute (or whatever) DoubleEntendre. Every. Single. One.
* CatsAreMean: Profanity-ridden metal and the members dress as cats.
* CelestialDeadline: Vaporwave (with vaportrap elements) band that makes music like a CrapsaccharineWorld: it starts nice and soft but it becomes DarkerAndEdgier as the time goes by.
* [[PostDefeatExplosionChain Chain Reaction Destruction]]: Techno death rock band.
* ChainsawGood: Gore metal of the most brutal and horrifying kind, with lyrics about gore, blood, corpses, necrophillia... [[{{Squick}} I think that's enough]]. Currently on tour with Cannibal Corpse. They often used actual chainsaws to generate sound in their songs. This has been seen considerably less often following an incident in which they attempted to grind two running chainsaws together. You gotta admire the bass guitarist for still being able to play now that he's missing a few fingers.
* ChallengeRun: Before their concerts, they have viewers suggest different challenges that make their performances different. Examples include "no G notes", "sing the lyrics backwards", and "use the least amount of drum beats possible".
* ChaosOfTheBells: Christmas death metal.
* ChaosWhileTheyreNotLooking: An [[IndustrialMetal Industrial]]-PowerMetal band that goes out of its way to be as fast as possible to the point of ruining all of their instruments by the time the concert is over. Teenagers that listen to them with constantly switch between them and some random parent-approved media when their parents go up to them to complain about the noise.
* ChaoticCarRide: Kids comedy album about an annoying family road trip. Tracks include "AreWeThereYet" and "DriveThruAntics".

* CharacterNameAndTheNounPhrase: The main character is the FaceOfTheBand, while the Noun Phrases provide backing for their performance and motivations.
* CharlieBrownFromOuttaTown: A ScaryBlackMan rapper dresses up as [[ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}} Charlie Brown]]. His music videos are edits of ''Peanuts'' specials, usually to make them violent or preach [[HardTruthAesop hard truth messages]].
* CheerfulAI: Wholesome stories about [[ABoyAndHisX a boy and his]] helpful robot AI sidekick. Partners with RobotBuddy.
* CheerfulChild: Super uplifting pop about a little kid who can find magic in everything and loves his family and friends. Sometimes features choirs of children singing in the background. When the kids got too old, the band split up; the main singer went on to do DisappointingOlderSibling, the guitarist and drummer went to The AbusiveOffspring, and the keyboardist is learning about electronic music so PoweredByAForsakenChild will hire him.
* ChemicalMessiah: Cyberpunk IndustrialMetal.
* TheChessmaster: A one man band who changes his sound based on the [[CrazyPrepared next big thing.]]
* TheChewToy: A quirky electronic {{emo}} pop-rock group with [[TearJerker extremely sad]], [[ContemplateOurNavels introspective]] lyrics. [[ScrewedByTheNetwork Screwed over by every label they've been on.]]
* {{Chickification}}: A female pop group version of the Music/VillagePeople, consisting of [[WrenchWench a riveter]], a Catholic schoolgirl, a [[Series/XenaWarriorPrincess warrior princess]], a [[TheBaroness secret agent]], and a [[LesbianJock softball player]]. Best known for their hit single, "Women's College". Interestingly, their biggest fanbase is among gay men.
* TheChosenMany: A SymphonicMetal group with a back-up orchestra where the main singer changes between songs, the tone of the song and the all around theme changing with each singer. Even the lighting of the stage and the content of the screen behind them changes for ambiance.
* TheChosenOne: A PowerMetal group the performs rockin' heavy metal ballads so fresh, so tasty, so face-meltingly sick that they could shatter continents. Usually has lyrics with a {{Fantasy}} theme.
* TheChosenPeople: A BlackMetal group that uses bible quotes in their lyrics for {{Irony}}.
* TheChosenWannabe: An AlternativeRock band that changes its genre and uniforms to fit what is popular, usually being one fad behind at a time, in order to try and bank on what is popular.
* TheChosenZero: A HeavyMetal group that was considered "meh" during its time, but wound up garnering a huge following shortly after it breaks up.
* CircusOfMagic: HappyCircusMusic for people of all ages. For their concerts, everyone's dressed up as a different type of circus performer; the singer is the ringmaster.
* The {{Clingy MacGuffin}}s: Scottish alt rock with surprising staying power. Everytime it seems like the band has finally broken up, moved on to other projects, or taken an indefinite hiatus, there they are again on another tour, releasing another album... you can't get away from them.

** Anarchist rock band, everyone comes from a different country -- the lead singer's English, the lead guitarist's American, the drummer's Australian and the bass player's Welsh. Their career ended after they died during a hunger strike in New York City.
** Alternatively: Christian pop group.
** Both of these exist; they just refuse to acknowledge the existence of the other band.
* ClarkKenting:
** Bespectacled pop rock band that write songs exclusively about DC heroes.
** Alternatively, a Philippine indie rock band whose songs are about call center woes. Their power ballad, "(I Want to Speak to Your) Supervisor" became a runaway hit, with covers and dub smashes posted all over Website/YouTube. The band members themselves (who remain remarkably anonymous) work in the same company in Clark, Pampanga, whose main headquarters is in Canterbury, UK.
* ClicheStorm: A band that [[StylisticSuck goes out of its way to have all the song cliches]].
* ClockPunk: British UsefulNotes/{{Punk}} band who uses the Elizabethan Tower (most famously Big Ben) as the mascot. Topics of their songs include fighting Fascisms, blowing up parliament, Bonfire Night and watch repair.
* CloningBlues: Indie jazz.
* CloserToEarth: Soft, ambient New Age music with a [[AnAesop green message]].
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}s: A band whose music style is [[GenreBusting almost impossible to pin down to one style]]. * ClusterFBomb: Self Demonstrating [[strike:Article]] Band. Plays heavy metal and barely goes two lines without swearing.
* CrucialCross: A Christian HeavyMithril[=/=]ProgressiveMetal band. Think of them as the Christian version of CastFromHitPoints. Their {{Rock Opera}}s often retell stories from the Bible in song form.
* TheCobblersChildrenHaveNoShoes: we're not really sure what they are, but you can be sure their lyrics are full of snappy irony and general pessimism towards the human race.
** Indie band with a style somewhere between Music/OKGo and R.E.M. They go heavy on synthesizers and acoustic guitars. They also write songs specifically designed for their fanbase, but are quite aloof to them in public.
* TheColoredCross: Light and soft Christian music.
* ColorfulContrails: ''WesternAnimation/RainbowBrite''-themed nerdy PowerMetal band (though with some elements of HairMetal).
* ColonyDrop: Arena Rock.
* CombatSadomasochist: Technical death metal meets breakcore. Have a spooky, [[CuteAndPsycho possibly insane]] female vocalist with a penchant for [[CarefulWithThatAxe screaming like a maniac in concert]].
* ComfortFood: Light pop music. They're best known for "CompanionFood", which details all the delicious food being served at a dinner party.
* ComicalAngryFace: Musical humorist who grew up with a totally average childhood, and bases his songs on average childhood experiences that are deliberately blown out of proportion (such as turning a child's first time going to the bathroom into a yucky whirlpool adventure, or a first-time kiss that gets awkward because the kids' braces have locked).
* ComicalCoffeeCup: The band members dress up as traditional {{White Collar Worker}}s, but turn out to be rather silly during their concerts, where they do comedy skits under their exaggerated personas: the lead singer, BobFromAccounting, is pursued by some {{Plucky Office Girl}}s. They debuted with an EP called ''WorkHardPlayHard'', and followed it up with a full-length album, ''EmployeeOfTheMonth''.
* CommanderContrarian: An IDM band, they take John Williams score-ish music and break the hell out of it. Vocal talents are handled by Basshunter (under a pseudonym.)
* CommieNazis: Satirical ska punk band from the U.K. that sings BlackComedy songs about [[EqualOpportunityOffender both sides of the "culture wars"]], especially those in the United States. The lead singer famously gives all interviews in the type of voice and accent you might expect from an American hipster Vice News contributor despite having been born and raised in Southampton.
* CompanionCube: A punk-ska band making songs about the half-life 'verse.
* CompleteMonster: A Death Metal band that tries hard not to Cross The Line Twice or take RefugeInAudacity, instead keeping their lyrics as vicious and offensive as possible.
* ConflictBall: Party rock with a ''lot'' of guitar duels.
* ConstantlyChangingName: That's their FanNickname, since they have a new alias for every album. Becomes an AscendedMeme when it's referenced in one of their songs.
* ConsultingMisterPuppet : A psychedelic rock band whose members are represented by puppets on stage.
* ContemplateOurNavels: An otherwise-good ambient progressive band whose overly abstruse lyrics turn off all but the most philosophically-minded listeners.
** A never-released album by King Crimson that was meant to be recorded in 1974.
* ContractualPurity: A RiotGrrrl band that mocks manufactured female pop stars, particularly how their career often feels like a chastity belt. Broke up after they gained mainstream popularity, which they felt was {{Irony}} going against their message. The bassist went on to form RailroadBaron.
* ConvictedByPublicOpinion: An alt-rock band that sings about people on the run from the law. And true to their themes and name, every member, past and present, was convicted by public opinion for crimes that they were eventually deemed not guilty of committing.
* ConvectionSchmonvection: Quite fringe but in reality very good. Reason for niche appeal is the fact their songs are nothing but rants about bad science in media put to music.
* [[Administrivia/ConversationInTheMainPage Conversation in the Main Page]]: An new wave band based out of Santa Monica made up of 4 guys - two guitars, drums and synthesizer - and 2 girls - vocals and bass. Known for their 1984 OneHitWonder "MeaningfulRename".
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: A band with songs that parody prison songs.
* CoolCodeOfSource: A group of computer programmers who make music using algorithms and all wear hoodies with a black and green color scheme. Their 2019 album, ''PowersAsPrograms'', was praised for its innovation (and sounding pretty darn good).
* CoolOldGuy: A band fronted by a retired eighty something grandfather, who goes by "Cool Old Guy" as a stage name and does almost everything that musicians half his age can do, but better! The other members of the band are his teenage grandchildren and their friends, who let him play a few songs with them just to be nice, but even they were blown away by his talents.
* CoolOldLady: Punk band of elderly women who sing about how they're not just boring old biddies.
* CoolTrain: Blues rock performed by five people: two guitars, bass, drums and piano: who clearly resemble the RailEnthusiast. Their cover of "Peace Train" became a #1 hit in Japan but stalled at #3 in their native United States.
* CopKiller: A punk rock band named after the Music/BodyCount song, which they covered for their self-titled debut album. Their lyrical themes deal with police brutality and police corruption. Their stage shows involve them bringing out cops and fighting and killing them in effigy. Currently on tour with PoliceBrutality.
* CorruptChurch: A parody of Christian rock bands. The lead singer and drummer have serious issues with organized religion. The guitarist is religiously confused, the keyboardist is agnostic but his/her parents force him/her to be Catholic, and the bassist just doesn't care.
* CosmicHorrorStory: A doom metal band whose songs evoke a sense of despair, dread, and impending doom. The lyrics frequently contain references to Creator/HPLovecraft and Franchise/CthulhuMythos.
* CovertPervert: An understated, pretty-sounding Indie Pop group with subtly groovy basslines and sly lyrics loaded with kinky subtext. Fronted by a [[{{Meganekko}} pretty bespectacled girl]] [[OlderThanTheyLook of ambiguous age]] who, it is rumoured, once worked as a fetish model.
* CrashInThroughTheCeiling: I'll give you one guess for how they open their concerts. Provided their injuries aren't ''that'' serious, they'll play some classical music.
* CranialEruption: Math rock and noise rock. Many of their songs are derived from formulas rather than from actual melodies (e.g. [[http://www.mezzacotta.net/garfield/?comic=218 Garfield Music]])
* CrazyPrepared: [[RapRock Rap-rock]] group with an 80s punk influence that are infamous for actually playing "Freebird" when audience members shout it. All members are schizophrenic Boy Scouts, just so the name won't be meaningless.
* CreatorBreakdown: An emo band that mostly sing songs about problems in their lives. Ended up becoming infamous for the HarsherInHindsight after the lead singer committed suicide.
* CreepyMonotone: Slow-pop band who mostly do love songs rendered unsettling by totally affect-less lead singer and flat instrumentals.
* CriminalConvention: A [[PowerMetal Power]]-DeathMetal Band riddled with ''creative differences'' between band-mates that just spells ''arrest them for drugs and car-wrecks'' written all over them.
* CrisisCrossover: A supergroup formed by members of RoguesGallery, NinetiesAntiHero and FastballSpecial.
* CrossPlayer: [[IAmTheBand Pure solo artist]] who does ChristianRock. His guitar is shaped like a cross.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Funk rock, Skunk Anansie style, with lazy basslines and killer riffs.

All of their songs involve incomprehensible growling that causes all men and women who hear it to ejaculate blood and miscarry respectively before being compelled to murder and eat their friends and family in a blind homicidal rage. If you listen to their songs backwards however, it sounds an awful lot like the discography of [[SugarWiki/SweetExists Sugar Wiki]].

** FurriesAreEasierToDraw: Gimmick band who perform in fursuits, were a media darling for a few weeks before falling apart due to "creative differences". The lead singer went on to form FurryConfusion.
** FurryConfusion: Furry fandom nerdcore who's members wear fursuits resembling their fursonas and/or their favorite cartoon characters. They performed their first gig when they crashed an Occupy Wall Street march, setting up in record time and performing part of the song "What About The Furries? (And Those Who Ain't the 99%)" before the demonstrators caught on and forcibly removed them from the rally. They later released their first album, ''HumanoidFemaleAnimal'' and began playing gigs all over the world afterwards and building up a fanbase within the furry fandom.
** [[DenialOfAnimality Furry Denial]]: Grindcore band similar to Music/AnalCunt who mock trolls who make fun of the furry fandom. Were once quite literally chased out of a town they had a gig in after making fun of the "all furries are pedophiles" stereotype.
** FurryReminder: Heavy metal group who perform in fursuits.
* TheForeignSubtitle: Indie rock band from a podunk New England town, who sing songs with lyrics chock-full of pop culture references.
* GameNightFight: Sings parodies of common songs, but makes them about a DysfunctionalFamily playing board games.
* GangBangers: A group that makes metal remixes of rap songs, especially those of the GangstaRap variety, along with metal remixes of some old R&B, disco and funk songs. Currently uploading what they make to [=SoundCloud=]. True to their name, every member, past and present, is a gang member. Notably, their remix of Music/MissyElliott's "Lose Control" won the approval of Missy Elliott herself.
* GasMaskMooks: A mashup of an industrial act and a marching band in the aesthetic of "Martial Industrial". The band consists of seven constant members and a few more guest ones, [[RevolvingDoorBand and the lineup has changed over a dozen times]], but since they always perform in their GasMaskLongcoat ensembles, few people manage to notice unless you tell them about it. Their shows often feature military-themed gimmicks, such as mortars firing pyrotechnics in the air or air defense searchlights being used to illuminate the stage, and [[BrokenBase their lyrics are divisive]] [[PoesLaw since nobody can quite figure out]] if their message is "WarIsHell" or "WarIsGlorious".

* GlassCannon: Their songs glorify kitschy sculptures. At various points, they dominated the Top 10 with hits such as ''It's Up To Us Once More'', ''God Called From D.C.'' and ''Son of the Shining City''.
* HomePage: A peaceful adult alternative group that sings comforting songs about home and family.
* HopeCrusher: Extremely bleak Norwegian BlackMetal with nihilistic lyrics which intend to drive listeners to complete and utter despair. Consisted of Sigvard "Silver Tongue" Holt on lead vocals, Krystof "Death Claw" Eriksen and Peter "Blood Reaper" Hagen on guitars, Aksel "War Monger" Jager on drums and backing vocals, and Stig "Voyd" Jenssen on bass, with Viktor "Sir Lew Cypher" Hedstrøm as their manager. Supposedly worshippers of Satan, this group believes that all humans are scum, and accordingly should just give in to their evil impulses. When a religious fanatic shot Cypher to death, they responded by sending the gunman their entire discography. Has remained on hiatus after Silver Tongue was given a life sentence for burning a crowded church, killing a pastor and several congregants.
* HopeSpot: Emo, with songs that seem like they're going to lighten up but never do.
* TheHorde (AKA "Horde"): An eight piece Norwegian BlackMetal band whose lyrics are about the atrocities of the minions of numerous evil overlords, including {{Satan}} himself.
* HorribleHistoryMetal: A metal band that, as their name implies, writes songs about history, in particular, historical battles, historical figures known for their high body counts, and historical torture methods. They play a variety of metal genres, mostly power metal, speed metal, thrash metal, and groove metal.

* HornyVikings: A wannabe heavy metal band full of nerdy high schoolers, except for the bassist, who is a beefy football player. * HumanJungleGym: Acrobats who sing about their childhood memories.
* HumongousMecha: J-Pop/Metal cross. * ImpersonationGambit: Multi-genre band who has become infamous for posing as and advertising themselves as much more successful groups to draw in bigger crowds at shows.
* ImpossiblePickleJar: A comedy RockAndRoll band that would throw in random polka-solos and - as a part of the sketch - will be playing right as the band they are opening for will walk in and interrupt as if the opening band was there without their permission. The band's lead singer will then make the excuse that they were "leaving their instruments/mic warm for them." Was on hiatus for a bit after OmnicidalManiac nearly killed them when they tried this when they opened for them at a show in Texas.
* ImprovisedBandage: Pop punk. Their songs are about never giving up, even if life's beating you up and pushing you around.
* IncendiaryExponent: Started by some of the old members of HotBlooded, who decided that they wanted their shows to be flashier.
* InconsistentColoring: Each band member is ''supposed'' to be recognized by their signature outfit color: the drummer is red, the bassist is green, and the singer is blue. However, the exact shades of each color differ with each live show. Done to enhance their songs, which are about embracing individuality and not letting one thing define who you are.
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Parodies Disney-sponsored bands, keeping the same cheery pop feel. All their songs are full of double entendres and dirty jokes.
* IndustrialWorld: Industrial metal.
* InformalEulogy: A IndecisiveParody of PopPunk bands.
* InsaneTrollLogic: A heavy metal band with confusing logical fallacies in their lyrics. They have the [[LargeHam largest hams]] in music since Music/VanHalen. Not to be confused with the Music/InsaneClownPosse.

* IronWoobie: Indie rock FiveManBand who run from power ballads to thrash metal stylings, famed for albums that go from one end of the sliding scales to the other. The name was given to them by the doctor who ran the group session they met in. Every album is dedicated to "Dr. Rob" and one other bright spot in a band member's life. In general, the band's sadder songs are honest reflections of some of the bullshit they've been through-- and their SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic come in celebration of even the smallest victories. * IslandOfMisfitEverything: An angsty AlternativeMetal band that appeals to teenage boys.
* ITakeOffenceToThatLastOne: Punk. Last song in an album chooses AcceptableTargets to rip on. Currently on hiatus after they were nearly lynched for making fun of ''Literature/WarriorCats''.
* ItsAllMyFault: A ShallowParody of emo bands. All of their songs are about the same thing: A desire to die. Every single member of the band claims they're convinced that their lives are meaningless and worthless, and they blame everything on themselves. No one is allowed to bring any sharp object to their concerts, and ambulances are kept ready at all times in case any of them attempt to kill themselves on stage, while [=EMTs=] and doctors are given the best seats at their concerts. There have been several incidents in the past, one of notice was when the lead singer attempted to drown himself in his own tears. He did not die, but, suffice to say, it did not end well.
* ItsPopularNowItSucks: An underground music band that tears apart popular songs by mocking them viciously in their lyrics. When they themselves became popular, they start mocking ''themselves.'' Currently on hiatus and in hiding for making fun of K-pop artists.
* ItWasHisSled: Folk group with a focus on story songs. Whether or not you've heard their songs before, you know how they're going to end.
* IzchaksWrath: Punk, with the trademark logo "+)m" emblazoned on their instruments. Nobody has heard of them or understand their lyrics except you and your nerd friends. Songs include "Do You Want Your Possessions Identified?" and "I Believe It Not!"
* JadeColoredGlasses: Indie group whose songs go against mainstream societal norms.
* JadedWashout: An emo band [[ColorMotif whose members dress all in jade green]], all of whom play washboard.
* JerkassSue: An all-girl band with punk overtones, but whose music has been watered down for commercial radio play. Think Avril Lavigne.
* JesusWasWayCool: Its members are all secular and have never read more than a few pages of the Bible, but nonetheless try to emulate ChristianRock - [[ArtisticLicenseReligion keyword being "try"]]. Their wacky inaccuracies can veer into SoBadItsGood territory.
* JoinedYourParty: EDM music meant to be played at raves.
* JokeItem: A middle-aged couple who write comedy songs together.
* TheJuggernaut: American speedcore band. You can't hear the lyrics because of the metal growl and severely overkicked drum machine, but they all revolve around a giant living planet that the lead singer [[ConspiracyTheorist thinks actually exists.]]
* JumpingTheShark:
** '60s-influenced rock whose first single was titled "I Fell in Love With You From Across the Aquarium Hall".
** Alternatively, a band that does covers of unpopular songs by popular artists.
* JunglePrincess: Vaguely jazzy electronica that makes extensive use of sampled sounds, including human voices singing nonsense words in close harmony.
* JustHereForTheFreeSnacks: Pop music. Legend has it, they only show up to DinnerAndAShow concerts to eat. They only released one album, ''IWasToldThereWouldBeCake'', and then disbanded after DinnerAndAShow no longer held concerts in their city. Some people think DeniedFoodAsPunishment pushed them into the decision.
* JustPlaneWrong:
** ''WesternAnimation/JayJayTheJetPlane'' nerd rock, where all of the band members are dressed as the show's main characters, and the lyrics defy all aeronautical logic. Originally named ArtisticLicensePhysics, but when ArtisticLicenseMilitary[='s=] manager sent them a cease and desist order, they changed their name.
** Alternatively ''VideoGame/AceCombat'' nerd folk rock, in the vain of ''Music/DosGringos'' who sing about the life and the expierence of Strangereal fighter pilots, those of whom are left in the shadow of the token bullshit AcePilot of the war.
* KavorkaMan: Hard rock band whose style and aesthetics are a GenreThrowback to old-school SexDrugsAndRockAndRoll, but with one difference: the members are all considered ugly as sin and yet are surrounded by hot women.
* KeyConfusion: There's no set key to play their songs in. They just kind of switch between whatever works during their performances.
* KickTheDog: Breakdown-heavy deathcore band with lyrics about being a total asshole and engaging in petty acts of cruelty for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
* KidFromTheFuture: Tween bubblegum-pop band that tries to be nerdy.
* KillerCop: A groove metal band with lyrics dealing with police officers, real and fictional, who have killed in one capacity or another. They once released a cover of Music/{{Warrant}}'s "Uncle Tom's Cabin.
* Kill 'Em All (now defunct): Very gory rock that has all the characters mentioned in the songs die.
* KillSat: Hardcore.
* KillTally: Music/TallyHall hate band. Criticized for being a ShallowParody.
* KillTheCutie: RiotGrrrl, deeply critical of the value society puts in beauty.
* KillItWithFire: American rock/metal band. Their first album, the self-titled ''KillItWithFire'' (2000) went to number 1 in five countries and had been translated into seven languages. Their next album and titular single, ''WhereIWasBornAndRazed'' (2003) went to number 1 in ten countries. After that came third album ''PlayingWithFire'' (2004), another chart-topper. Their next album, ''OurDragonsAreDifferent'' (2006) also reached number 1, but at a slower rate. * KirksRock: A rock band whose music vacillates between sweeping epics and gritty, thrashing solos, sometimes within the same song. For some reason, their lyrics consist entirely of ''Franchise/StarTrek'' quotes.
* KissOfTheVampire: a semi-goth/punk girl band. The band has an inexplicable fixation on vampires, and every music video and concert features at least one member of the band being bitten on the neck by another member. * KungFuJesus: Christian comedy-rock band who's members dress up in {{Martial Arts Uniform}}s. Their music videos are edits of old kung-fu movies and other martial arts films, usually editing them to preach a religious aesop or make them align with a specific Bible verse.

Recently signed on the Bassist's younger brother as a drummer, and if the promotional photoshoots and their latest album cover are any indication, he must be one of the luckiest men on the planet.
* MasterOfTheLevitatingBlades: Intense slash metal.
* MaximumFunChamber: 900+ BPM speedcore/happy hardcore fusion. Became the center of [[MoralGuardian great controversy]] when it was revealed that several synth fills in their songs, when converted into Morse code, translated into "LSD".
* MegaCorp:
** Anarcho-punk. They always release their albums on the Internet and ''never'' sign with major labels, partly because that would be cooperating with the reviled megacorps, partly because nobody would like to sign with them anyway.
** Alternatively, a Mega Man tribute band mostly known for covers of Music/TheMegas and Music/TheProtomen, and a surprisingly well-done cover of "I Can't Defeat Air Man". Popularized the use of Metool hard hats as a fashion statement.
* MegaNeko: Formed by a former SailorEarth drummer and themed after ''Manga/TokyoMewMew''. The band members dress as the Mew Mew while their dancers dress as the aliens from the manga. The dancer who dresses as Quiche/Dren is believed to be Creator/AndrewRannells in disguise.

* MemeticBadass: A nerd metal band that think they're a lot more awesome than they really are.
* MemeticMolester: Humorous porngrind, with a lyrical focus on pop culture and internet in-jokes.

* MilkmanConspiracy: True to their name, they're one of them bands that writes nothing but songs about video games and nerdy things, and most of their repetoir is available for free download. Fans recommend "Girlfriend for a Day" (their loving tribute to [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Samus Aran]]) and "H Is for Pervert" (all you ever wanted to know about Hentai but were afraid to ask).
* MindControlEyes: Trance music that's so hypnotic that the band-members have to keep a close eye on each other, as it can even get to them. Their music videos are filled with spirals and other hypnotic imagery.
* TheMinneapolisSound: 80s jazz/swing music.
* MindScrew: Noisy techno band, describes themselves as a cross between Aphex Twin and Merzbow.
* MindRape: Their songs are SensoryAbuse to the point of NightmareFuel, and can cause nausea if listened to for more than a few minutes at a time. That is, of course, their whole gimmick. Currently on hiatus after they were sued by a man who nearly died from listening to one of their songs in full.
* MisanthropeSupreme: Blackened Brutal Death Metal band à la Behemoth or Hour of Penance with misanthropy and nihilism as their main lyrical theme.
* MisfitLabRat: A punk group composed of brilliant scientists.
* MisterSeahorse: Pop folk band run by a former marine biologist.
* MoeCouplet: A two-girls duet who sings healing-type J-pop, they are in fact [[LesYay an example of]] MoeCouplet.
* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: A band which records new material rarely, but is widely agreed to have released some of the greatest and most awe-inspiring music of all time. Have been known to play music in every genre, but especially partial to soaring rock anthems and half-hour classical jawdroppers. The lead singer can rap at the speed of light.
* MondegreenGag: Progressive folk, with near-incomprehensible lyrics.
* MoneyDumb: Comedy songs about what sort of stupid things the singer would buy if he had all the money in the world.
* MoneyShot: A female rap trio challenging the boys' club of Hip-Hop. Music/NickiMinaj frequently collaborates with them in the near future.
* MonsterClown: A wannabe-metal high school garage band whose lead singer is terribly afraid of clowns. They never really get close to metal, just pop-punk.
* MonsterMunch: A collaboration event between MonsterOfTheWeek and OdeToFood.
* MonsterOfTheWeek: A pop-punk with a really strong sound, especially where the bass guitar is concerned, but all of their songs have lyrics about silly subjects like what the members would like to do if aliens conquered the world, they won the lottery, inherited a zoo, etc. Formed by MonsterClown's guitarist and drummer after that band broke up.
* The {{Mood Swinger}}s: Insanely neurotic, with many tone changes in just one song. Their "SongOfManyEmotions" is a six-minute ballad that somehow switches tones with every verse.
* {{Moonburn}}: A GlamRock band with various soft melodies to evoke romance, interrupted with various HardRock intervals evocative of Music/TwistedSister.
* MoralEventHorizon: Death/doom band out of Nova Scotia originally known as RapeTheDog. Although popularly rumored to have changed their name so Walmart would carry their first album, ''NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast'', they actually changed it after discovering a Denver grunge band was already using the name.
* MoralGuardians: Sample-heavy, hyper-political electronica group. Known for their bizarre live performances in which they play in the nude, surrounded by huge masked guards carrying black censor bars.
* TheMoralSubstitute: A parody Christian rock band.
* {{Mordor}}: Straight up brutal death metal with technical influences.
* MoreDakka: '''''Speed metal!''''' All percussion. All the time. Fifteen-hour drum solo! A Techno Power Metal band famous for the invasive plastic surgery each member has undergone. They are TheRival to ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill and have an EscalatingWar over whose concerts can be more spectacular (read: [[MadeOfExplodium explosive]]).
* MostWritersAreHuman: AffectionateParody of avant-garde music acts.

* MovingRightThrough: Abrasive punk rock.
* MrViceGuy: An ElectroSwing solo act starring the fictional Mr. Vice Guy, his various songs and concept albums [[BeenThereShapedHistory about his long history of]] AntiHero [[BeenThereShapedHistory shenanigans]], included his work as a Nazi-killing spy in WW2, orchestrating the Assassination of JFK as a means of keeping the Cold War from escalating, undoing a Satanic Conspiracy and killing the {{Mothman}}, all while doing every drug and sexual act you could imagine. Think Creator/PeterWeller playing [[Music/DavidBowie The Thin White Duke]] with [[WesternAnimation/RickAndMorty Rick Sanchez's]] adventures.
* MST3KMantra: A Weird-Al-style parody band whose lyrics always make fun of various parts of American pop culture.
* MugshotMontage: A BoyBand with a Prison-theme, their first album featured multiple mugshot pictures of each band member.
* MultipleChoiceFuture: A French House duo ''that totally isn't Music/DaftPunk'' that squeezes in droning beats and ambiance to create a "cosmic peace" when listening to them. People hear them and think that the minor differences in their songs as they listen to them is somehow a part of the Mandala Effect.
* MurderTheHypotenuse: Strongly Emo-tinged hardcore, in the style of Alesana and Chiodos, with From First to Last -esque angsting and vocal style.
* MurderersAreRapists: Straight-up deathcore a'la As Blood Runs Black or Suicide Silence. Their longest song is about eight minutes long and has no less than fifteen breakdowns.
* MuseAbuse: DarthWiki/SoBadItsHorrible covers of Music/{{Muse}} songs.
* MushroomSamba: Latin dance band with somewhat psychedelic touch.
* MusicToInvadePolandTo: Disco polo outfit from, well, Poland. Most of their music is a lampooning of the Nazis, and they wear authentic Nazi uniforms and wave Nazi flags on stage. Not for the easily offended.
* MyCarHatesMe: Kooky indie/electronica band.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: A Music/TalkingHeads[=/=]Music/TomTomClub tribute band spearheaded by a man who was tricked into burning someone's house down and started the band to help pay for damages.
* MyHeroZero: A playful, snarky Emo band with a self-deprecating sense of humor, with witty, joking lyrics about depression, isolation, and loneliness. Their debut album, "Big Toothy Frown", has been described by the lead singer as "the best-selling beer coaster in America."
* MyspeldRokband: A metal cover band (mostly devoted to HairMetal and ThrashMetal covers) whose members met in high school during after-school School of Rock classes (the drummer was a football player, the bassist wants to be a doctor, and the guitarist hopes to study astronomy). Currently playing [[WildTeenParty wild teen parties]] up and down the eastern seaboard.
* MythologyGag: A ProgressiveRock band that made its start writing music for a Creator/{{Nickelodeon}} cartoon based off of Myth/NorseMythology.
* NaginatasAreFeminine: Japanese idol group whose gimmick is dressing as ''onna bugeisha'', using stand microphones designed to look like naginatas (with which they have mock battles).
* NameOfCain: A doom metal band whose lyrics prominently feature the topic of sin, divine punishment, and fratricide.
* Series/NameThatTune: An instrumental-only group whose concerts repertoire consists of well-known songs played without the lyrics. The audience are encouraged to sing along once they work out where the chorus is.
* NamelessNarrative: Sad punk rockers strongly influenced by drone metal.
* NatureIsNotNice: [=Crunkcore=] and nu-disco fusion. Their sole Top 40 entry was "ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney".
* NecroNonSequitur: Blackened death metal. Well known for their WordSaladLyrics.
* NeonCity: Mallsoft.
* The NervousTics: Never got off the ground, because it's rare that they can finish recording a song without having an anxiety attack.

* NewWeird: A GothRock[=/=]PostPunk who churn out {{Concept Album}}s about an ArtifactCollectionAgency and the many {{Ancient Artifact}}s, {{Eldritch Location}}s, {{Cult}}s and world-ending threats they encounter.
* NightmareFetishist: Pornogrind supergroup containing former members of Nightmare Fuel and Fetish Fuel.
* NightmareFuel: Some kind of metal-punk hybrid. Who may choose to always play the chord progressions of the 1989 PBS ident, before playing a power chord, where the last of the ident's chords would be, that leads into or begins their song.
** The remaining members of Nightmare Fuel after dumping their dead-weight lead singer. Their first album was recorded before they found a new one, so it's mostly instrumentals, and the few songs with lyrics, are either sung by a different band member each time or, in one case, shuttles between members. One of those instrumentals is their creepy metal cover of the 1989 PBS ident alone. Their second album was all covers; by that time, they'd picked up a lead singer with a really weird falsetto. Became NightmareFuel when the remaining members begin experimenting with Throbbing-Gristle-esque industrial and noise. With another cover of the 1989 PBS ident to boot. Do not listen to after the sun is down if you enjoy being able to sleep.
* NightOfTheLivingMooks: Hardcore goth, with plenty of {{Narm}}-filled lyrics. They occasionally "sample" the falsetto from the band above.
* NinetiesAntiHero: 90's {{Grunge}} band. They are very stereotypical, with as much angst as you can get, and all the members are jerks. They broke up in 1998 and have remained in obscurity until the bassist and rhythm guitarist joined CrisisCrossover.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: A punk band whose lyrics would contain a lot of humor in the form of semi-obscure geek subculture references.

* NoNameGiven: A band who does covers of songs that were written anonymously. All the members wear blank name tags.
* NobodyPoops: A mix of techno and orchestral, going for epic sci-fi so hard they fall into the bizarrely awesome domain: [[LyricalDissonance but the lyrics]] are about [[MostWritersAreHuman humanity's failures of imagination]].
* NoExportForYou: An all-male trio who had a J-Pop/Electronica style and ended up being a huge hit in Japan. However, their label decided not to release their music anywhere else, deciding the music would not do well in other countries. The band tried to protest to get their music in other regions, but were quickly shunted off their label and replaced by [[BadExportForYou a new band who plays off-key covers of their songs.]] The company decided to take the band's idea and sell the music in other countries, however the new band did not perform quite as well.
* NonEntityGeneral: A [[MildlyMilitary quasi-military]] hard rock band making use of brass instruments. Notable for their lead singer, "[[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname Lieutenant-General]]", never appearing in public, with his identity a complete mystery surrounded by many EpilepticTrees.
* NoSuchThingAsSpaceJesus: Synthpop/techno fusion. The frontman used to head a Christian rock band (and, despite the name, is still a devout Christian, hence all the religious references in their music).
* NoodleIncident: An obscure indie rock band with a heavy progressive influence.

* NothingNiceAboutSugarAndSpice: Female duo who sing about how they're expected to be feminine, and how they want to challenge traditional gender roles.
* NotTheFallThatKillsYou: A very dark punk band that, depending on which fan you ask, has gone a bit too far on the emo side.
* NotWearingTights: Comedy duo or trio who sing about pop culture.
* [[TurnOfTheMillennium The Noughties]]: A UK-based spin-off band of TurnOfTheMillennium. While Turn of the Millennium mainly focus on celebrating predominately American culture of the 2000s, the Noughties celebrate UK culture of the 2000s. They mostly do covers of songs by artists who were huge in the UK during the 2000s (e.g. Music/{{Coldplay}}, Music/{{Sugababes}}, Music/GirlsAloud, Music/ArcticMonkeys, Music/{{McFly}} and Music/JamesBlunt). Their live performances include iconic imagery from 2000s British TV shows and media events being projected behind them on a big screen for certain songs, trivia contests and handing out iconic 2000s British snacks at concessions.
* TheNthDoctor: A comedic ''Series/DoctorWho'' tribute band. Each member dresses as the Doctor and/or Companion of their choice. The leader singer is the Tenth Doctor, the guitarist is the Ninth Doctor, the keyboardist is Martha, the bassist is Captain Jack, and the drummer is Sarah Jane; sometimes they like to switch it up, though. Got some attention when the lead singer dressed up in the Twelth Doctor's official outfit well before it was known to the general public.
* NubileSavage: Bongos, vocals, and occasionally some horns. They are all sexy, especially the singer.
* ObliviousToLove: A band which does pop songs and sings about their non-understanding of why their girlfriends love them. The band is made up of 3 people, all of whom are male.
* ObsessedWithFood: All their songs are restaurant menus sung in a swing style. Often has OdeToFood appear as a guest artist.
* ObsessivelyNormal: A {{Doowop}} group that tries to be as harmless, wholesome and inoffensive to their parents as possibly. Ironically, they become very popular to the {{Hipster}} crowd, various critics believing their songs to possess incredibly risque messages in the lyrics.
* ObstructiveBureaucrat: Indie band from Indiana. They met while interning at the BMV in Indianapolis one summer; when they found themselves all working at West Lafayette City Hall upon returning to Purdue that fall, they decided to form a band. They dress in businesswear (the two guys in shirt-and-tie getups, the women in conservative dresses). Their signature song, "Application Denied", consists of the lead singer fantasizing about rejecting a hated ex-girlfriend's driver's license renewal.
* ObviouslyNotFine: Alternative rock. Comes a little too close to {{Wangst}}.
* OdeToFood: Grand musical numbers about how versatile favorite food is. From [[ThroughHisStomach winning over your crushes]], [[PostStressOvereating placating your stress]], [[ComfortFood providing comfort when you're sad]], and [[TheSnackIsMoreInteresting providing an escape from boring conversations]], it [[EatingSolvesEverything solves everything]]! Partners with ObsessedWithFood.
* OminousTelevision: A GarageBand somewhere between HardcorePunk and PostGrunge. The band is just one guy [=DJing=] all of the vocals and instruments [[Music/NineInchNails Trent Reznor]]-style and displaying them on various televisions (both box and flatscreen). For extra hipster-points, it is all done on VHS tapes, a performative aspect of the show being that they exchange the tapes for others mid-song for a subtle shift between songs.
* OmnicidalManiac: Doom metal. All of their songs chronicle the different means for all life on Earth to go extinct, usually from the point of view of the one causing the extinction. Currently on hiatus as all the members are in jail after it was discovered the band was secretly promoting a incredibly dangerous doomsday cult.
* OneHitWonder: GenreMashup band whose discography consists of one CoverAlbum after another. Said covers are originally by different one hit wonders. Are themselves a OneHitWonder with their only original song, the title track of their [[SelfTitledAlbum self-titled debut album]] (1984).
* OneHitPointWonder: Rock band. When a member gets shot, they postpone the same concert.
* OneManArmy: All rock band whose songs combine the use of every single possible instrument in an orchestra, but they're all played [[IAmTheBand by one man]].
* JustForFun/OneMarioLimit: Five Mario fans who play [[GenreRoulette any genre]] and have everybody sing at least one song on their album. The two guitarists are brothers with mustaches (and the older, who plays lead and sings most songs, is fatter and shorter than rhythm), the bassist is a blonde girl, the keyboardist is strong and has wild hair, the drummer is a midget and they dress up like their respective Mario counterparts in concert.
* OneOfTheGirls: A guy is the singer and the musicians are girls. Lyrics are about abolishing gender roles.
* OneSteveLimit: Punk band with at least two members who have the same name (even if Steve is a NonIndicativeName).
* OneWingedAngel: Symphonic gothic fully-orchestrated power metal from Japan.
* OnlySaneMan: A strange GenreBusting garage band where the lead singer dresses like someone from Music/TheHives while everyone else dresses trashy and over the top. While the band plays thrash metal the singer will have lyrical pieces and very clean-sounding speech (albeit with some cursing). Subject matter will probably involve how antagonistic the singer is to the rest of the band, [[AlterEgoActing even if they're all in on it]].
* OnlySoManyCanadianActors: An alternative rock band from Canada. The lead singer is a [[ShakespearianActors Shakespearian actor]] who has played various roles at the Stratford Festival, the lead guitarist did additional voices in ''WesternAnimation/ToadPatrol'' and ''WesternAnimation/WhatsWithAndy'', the rhythm guitarist is a former child actor, the bassist was a stunt double on ''Series/TheXFiles'', the keyboardist had a walk-on role on ''Series/{{Degrassi}}'', and the drummer is a talent coordinator.
* OrionDrive: A fusion of power metal and heavy metal, sound kinda like Music/IronSavior [[JustForFun/XMeetsY meets]] Music/JudasPriest, and some of the more dramatic songs are kinda Music/{{Nightwish|Band}}-ee or Music/MeatLoaf-ish. Their album is a RockOpera about a GenerationShip with a Nuclear Pulse Engine. According to a WordOfGod from both the bands, it's the Distant Future of the CastFromHitPoints-verse after [[TheMagicGoesAway the magic faded]].
* OurMonstersAreDifferent: Hard rock band. No monsters of any kind feature in their lyrics ''at all'', but do feature heavily in their album art and {{Animated Music Video}}s depicting the members as said monsters.
* OutSick: Their first album was delayed because every member had a serious flu.
* PaedoHunt: Comedy indie rock group, it's members take on on-stage personas of pedophiles on the run from the law. * DarthWiki/PaintTheHeroBlack: An alternative rock band that sings songs with lyrics that take the most heroic actions in history and try to vilify them. Famous for their hit single "Thirteenth Amendment Blues". While they pretend to be bitter enemies with WhatTheHellHero it's all scripted for laughs.
* ParanoiaGambit: Industrial Synthetic Rock, advertises through propaganda-style posters.
* ParentsAreWrong: Rock music. A group of adults who sing about all sorts of lies they were told as kids to make them behave better. People who like them often enjoy The AbusiveOffspring.
* ParodySue: An all female pop group/spy team/superhero squad that fights evil with the PowerOfLove and is irresistible to the opposite sex (though their tragic abuse at the hands of their adopted father has left them scarred for life). They are the perfect musicians whose voices rival [[Music/{{Queen}} Freddie Mercury]], and whose guitar riffs have been known to cure cancer. Universally loathed by the music community at large.

* ThePianoPlayer: One-man band that just plays generic royalty-free piano music.
* The {{Pious Monster}}s: Hardcore religious rock. The band members all wear white and gold uniforms, but their instruments are red and black.
* {{Planetville}}: A {{Zeerust}}-filled '60s pop band.
* The {{Plastic Bitch}}es: Meant as a parody of mainstream pop, but sometimes [[IndecisiveParody gets confused for the real deal]].
* PlayableEpilogue: The "VideoGame/{{Warcraft}}" half of ExtendedGameplay. Ever since ElvesVersusDwarves took them into a grudge match over the less-than-flattering ShoutOut in the Play Ep song ''OurOrcsAreDifferent'', the two groups have been bitter rivals.
* PlayboyHasADaughter: Band that puts on an incredibly family-unfriendly facade, but has songs explaining their HiddenDepths and that they [[IJustWantToBeLoved just want to be loved]].
* PlayedForLaughs: A band that only performs covers of other bands. And by perform we mean misplay and fill it with hilarious [[MondegreenGag mondegreens]]. Their managers bet everything on them becoming a hit. They did not.
* PornStache: A coed 70s rock/disco/pop cover band: pure, sexy, and dirty fun!
* PovertyFood: Comedy band that ''tries'' to be FoodPorn, but describes the most disgusting-sound meals possible. Known for their albums ''ReducedToRatburgers'' (2013) and ''DogFoodDiet'' (2015). At the start of all their concerts, they have their fans shout out "IfItTastesBadItMustBeGoodForYou!"

All of their songs are about Rock, the influence it's had on the music industry, great rock and metal musicians of the past, and how Rock has changed the world. Only beaten by Music/TheBeatles in sheer popularity. There was once a a kid with cancer who, as his Make-A-Wish, asked if he could play a few riffs with this band. By the end of the first song, his cancer was cured and he had grown a beard. That's how awesome this band is.
* The PowerTrio: Glam-rock band with a singer/guitarist as the leader, a sarcastic, intellectual female pianist as the songwriter, and a drummer who just likes to hit things.
* PrecisionFStrike: True to the name, this band keeps their language ''very'' clean...except once on each album, in the least likely place.
* PredatorsAreMean: The longer running EvilCounterpart to FurriesAreEasierToDraw. Death/ doom Metal, and wear SavageWolf costumes.

* PunctuatedForEmphasis: Incredibly heavy rock, with [[ChewingTheScenery extremely loud and emphasised singing.]]
* PuttingOnTheReich: Volk music. Accuse ThoseWackyNazis of selling out to the Jews with their heinous foreign "metal", introduced by communists to corrupt the patriotic music scene. However, off-stage the band-members are not interested in any politics and are anti-racism activists.
* PuttingThePalInPrincipal: A one-man band featuring the tap-dancing dean of a high school desperately trying to win the respect of his students.
* TheQueenWillBeWatching: The band members are dressed as medieval peasants, except the lead singer, who's an [[EvilIsCool cool, evil queen]]. * QuoteSource: A J-Pop group famous for their profound lyrics. They are in a rivalry with ImageSource.
* RabbitMagician: A one-man IndustrialMetal group/PerformanceArtist that forgoes the usual {{Cyberpunk}}/political edge of the genre and instead favors PostModernMagik[=/=]UrbanFantasy, doing high-octane [[StageMagician acts of prestidigitation]] on-stage while the instrumentals play in the background, said tricks usually involving an ironic twist to them (SawAWomanInHalf with blood and live doves coming out of the two halves, [[PullARabbitOutOfMyHat getting pulled through the hat instead of pulling a rabbit out]], etc).
* RageAgainstTheReflection: An American Christian metalcore band whose lyrics are about their brushes with depression and suicide and eventual turning to Christ. The band are suprisingly not conservative for "mainstream" Christians, and LGBTQ+ rights, science, and fantasy works are not classified as the devil's creations (the drummer is bisexual and has a boyfriend, the bassist is a huge ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons'' fan, and the rhythm guitarist has a degree in biology).
* RageQuit: A metal band. At their live shows, the guitarist always makes a mistake about halfway through the fifth song, and his playing just gets worse from that point on until he gives up and walks off stage. Currently looking for a new guitarist.
* RailroadBaron: A thrash metal band from Texas made up of [[Main/RailEnthusiast railfans]]. The lead singer dresses up as, well, a railroad baron and the other members dress up as stereotypical railroad employees. Think of them as being Music/{{Alestorm}} if they sung about railroading history and railfan culture instead of pirates. Contrary to popular belief, the band-members are good friends with those of RailroadEmployeeRoundhouse and the two bands are currently touring together.
* RailroadEmployeeRoundhouse: A British railroading-themed thrash metal band. Started off as a drone metal band but gave up after two albums in that genre and switched to thrash metal with a railroading theme by the time their third album dropped. Currently touring with RailroadBaron.
* RainbowsAndUnicorns: Saccharine pop music aimed at young girls.

* The RazorApples: A group of former lunchladies make a rock band. Never caught on.
* RaygunGothic: Power/prog metal. Their albums all tell the ''CrystalSpiresAndTogas'' science fiction saga. They are faster than Music/DragonForce and more complex than Music/DreamTheater, and their ultimate goal is to create the most difficult-to-play piece of music ever.
* ARealManIsAKiller: Either a blackened thrash metal band with experimental influences from Oslo, Montana, or a hardcore rap group focusing on crime and war in their lyrics. Or possibly both.
* RealMenLoveJesus: A ChristianMetal band with tons of TestosteronePoisoning (the trope).
* RealMoneyTrade: Political rap that discusses social-economical issues. Once appeared in a PremiumCurrency song.
* RealMenTakeItBlack: A side project by rapper SassyBlackWoman. In bold [[ClusterFBomb wording]] and imagery she sings about being a strong woman who likes strong coffee and strong men who can handle strong women and strong coffee. 10% joke, 70% filthy, 20% waxing lyrical about caffeine. Known for the hit "YouGetMeCoffee", about how what women really want is coffee when they want it.
* RealMenWearPink: A pop-punk band who have all of their band tee's in pink and often joke about being gay when really they do this to get a female fanbase and thus chicks.
* RealWomenDontWearDresses: all-girl punk band where every member wears pants.
* RedemptionRejection: A Music/SexPistols/Music/PublicImageLtd tribute band founded by an ex-anarchist who was unable to find work after he was paroled from prison and founded the band to have a full-time "job".
* RedOniBlueOni: More Japanese singers. These ones, for no discernible reason, sing Japanese mythology (and occasionally other mythology) translated to Portuguese through French, with a Punk tune. Nobody has ''any'' idea whose idea it was to start this band.

* ScaryBlackMan: Politically-minded rapper. He legally changed his name to this. Sings about his experiences growing up in a predominantly white region of Chicago.
* SchizoTech: Alternative rock, using instruments such as violins, electric guitars, trombones, synthesizers, banjos, and amplifiers. An extremely unique sound.
* The ScoobyDoobyDoors: A [[Music/TheDoors Doors]] tribute band consisting of two men and two women. They are best known for their [[GreatBallsOfFire elaborate concerts]] that follow [[StrictlyFormula the typical SD episode setup]]. The members dress as ''Franchise/ScoobyDoo'' characters (Fred on vocals, Velma on keys, Shaggy on drums, and Daphne on guitar), and in-between songs they perform skits with an overarching story involving them solving a mystery (which is different depending on the city they're performing in). Scooby (and, when he appears, [[TheScrappy Scrappy]]) are represented by hand puppets performed by the drummer and guitarist, respectively, while the suspects and other characters are played by their backup dancers. * SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: Rapper with a tendency to write really, reeeally complicated lyrics. Occasionally uses words that take up an entire bar to pronounce.
* ShadowGovernment: {{Black|Metal}}-IndustrialMetal band with themes of war, crony-capitalism, corrupt religion, and cryptids. Their mascot is a tall [[TheGreys Grey-Alien]] in a [[TheMenInBlack black suit]]. Fans who've analyzed their most critically acclaimed album -- "EyeOfProvidence" -- think that the reason why their production quality had fallen in later albums is because the various antagonists in their more story-heavy songs are deliberately based off of specific people in their own record-company.
* ShadyScalper: Horrorcore PlayedForLaughs. It deals with the nightmares of nerds and collectors everywhere.

* SoftSpokenSadist: A gothic metal band whose lyrics calmly explain all the tortures they wish to inflict on others.
* DarthWiki/SoBadItsHorrible: A garage band that tries ''so hard'' to be the worst band on the entire planet, complete with an awful singer, an out-of-tune guitar, and a drummer who just bangs things randomly, pretending to be completely ignorant as to what a beat is. [[SpringTimeForHitler They end up gaining fans]] because the worst they can manage to get is SoBadItsGood. Take inspiration from the Shaggs.
* So Yeah: Indie-PowerPop based in Seattle but with two of four members from Vancouver (its fans debate whether they sound more like Music/OKGo or Music/TheNewPornographers). * SteamPunk: Symphonic metal band... with a twist! The band uses [[SchizoTech steam tractor with generator attached]] to power their instruments, the drummer uses a [[ClockPunk clockwork]] backpack with [[MultiArmedAndDangerous six extra arms]] to maximize efficency. * TeensAreMonsters: A [[RagtagBunchOfMisfits ragtag]] GarageBand trio of misfit teenage girls [[SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic blasting their hearts out on cheap instruments.]] Their lyrics are generally [[TheSnarkKnight sardonic, snarky, darkly humorous reflections and observations on the follies of teenage life]]. Their music is usually categorized as "alternative rock," but it is also influenced by hardcore punk, punk pop, and progressive rock. * ThoseWackyNazis: Who've constructed an elaborate stage persona of vicious, totally unironic-sounding neo-fascists from which they never deviate, and endeavour to keep their real lives (especially speculation as to whether they're Jewish, as often claimed) secret. As noted above, ''metal'', playing gigs with the DirtyCommunists to play off their rivalry. The fact that both ThoseWackyNazis and the DirtyCommunists ''hate'' PuttingOnTheReich has led some fans to joke that the two bands are actually just two faces of a larger project, The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. In reality, all three bands were created by a history teacher as an excuse to perform novelty songs based off various subjects he teaches his high school class.
* ThreeChordsAndTheTruth: Parody {{Grunge}} band who claim to have failed to gain mainstream success or recognition as TrueArt during the early-to-mid-90s, and are making up for it. Think of them as Music/SteelPanther for the Grunge era. The music they produce is an AffectionateParody of both the best (powerful riffs, deep messages) and worst (unintelligible singing, unpolished sound, much pretentiousness) bits of Grunge.
* ThroughTheEyesOfMadness: Dronecore/ambient electronic, with a lot of references to going mad in the lyrics. Their first album and single are also titled ''Through the Eyes of Madness''.

** True Art Is Offensive: Grindcore band similar to Napalm Death, with horrifying lyrics about gore and rape. All the members are currently on death row after the bassist shot the drummer eighty times and had sex with his corpse during a live show.
** True Art Is Foreign: Indie rock whose lyrics are never sung in English, instead switching between a lot of different languages (sometimes in the same song). Disbanded when all the members decided all their songs should be in one language, but they couldn't agree on which one. However, the lead singer will occasionally scream in Esperanto as a live member of TrueArtIsIncomprehensible.
** True Art Sticks It To The Man: Consists entirely of one guy yelling about how much the current establishment sucks over a BrownNote. Currently on hiatus after said guy was arrested during a performance of his 27-minute brown note rant rock epic "Every President That Has Ever Sat In Office Or Ever Will Sucks, And Here Is A Bullet-Pointed List To Explain Why". He has since released the song "You Guys Suck, Man! You Should Have Petitioned For My Release!"
** TrueArtIsAncient: Blues-rock played by eighty-year-old nursing home residents.
** TrueArtIsBoring: A classical music covers group that add lyrics to classical music pieces that are sung by chipper middle school assembly performers. Considered boring by the majority of their "audiences".
** [[ThreeChordsAndTheTruth True Art Is Simple/Unpolished]]: Clumsily-performed indie/alternative rock with a penchant for ThrowItIn and TheShowMustGoOn. Receives rave reviews from ''Pitchfork'' in the U.S. and ''[=NME=]'' in the U.K. and is always name-dropped by indier-than-thou hipsters, yet is ignored by everybody else.
* TrueLoveIsAKink: A Punk band that uses a lot of Neon Pink. They may or may not be made up exclusively of gay men, but it is clear that gay men make up most of their audience.
* TrophyViolence: Sings intense {{Bragging Theme Tune}}s for each of their band members. Claims that they will crush all in their path, but died out after the singer and drummer got into a petty feud and refused to speak to each other.
* TroubledProduction: A ''insane'' ThrashMetal band based out of the KCMO area, played by five people: vocals, two guitars, bass, and drums. Did a lot of live shows, until their career was cut short after the drummer was murdered by a light technician for VodkaDrunkenski following their ''MurderDotCom'' tour. As of 2017, they have released a new album with a new drummer called ''Main/ArsonMurderAndJaywalking''.
* TurnOfTheMillennium: A cover band who celebrate everything that embodied the 2000s. They mostly do covers of songs by artists who were huge during the 2000s (e.g. Music/NellyFurtado, Music/{{Ashanti}}, Music/FiftyCent, Music/KellyClarkson, Music/TheBlackEyedPeas, Music/TheWhiteStripes, Music/MyChemicalRomance, etc.) and the theme songs to iconic 2000s TV shows (e.g. the ''Series/HowIMetYourMother'' theme, "Superman" from ''Series/{{Scrubs}}''). The male members dress like pre-Recession college frat boys on spring break while the female members dress in outfits typical of the time. Their live performances include iconic imagery from 2000s films, TV shows and news events being projected behind them on a screen, handing out 2000s snacks like Gripz and Oreo [=Cakesters=] to audience members at concessions, and 2000s trivia contests. Insist that their shows are advertised as "parties".

* VivaLasVegas: A Music/CocteauTwins tribute act spearheaded by a devout Christian lady who got stuck in Las Vegas after she missed her flight, and started the band to fund her trip back home.
* VocalTagTeam: Rock band that prides itself in their vocal talents, with each member trading verses/choruses.
* VodkaDrunkenski: Russian rock, formed by two brothers from Moscow and their cousins in New York. By their own account, they're political rock criticizing the state of [[UsefulNotes/TheNewRussia modern Russia]]; by other people's account, they sing an awful lot of [[OdeToIntoxication odes to vodka]], and Cousin Vova, the lead singer, always seems to be drunk at gigs.

ActionGirl or LittleMissBadass show up during particularly intense battles, and you may even catch SirCameosALot in the background!
* WarmWaterWhiz: All the band members are dressed in swimwear and their instruments are themed after bath toys. Their songs tend to be [[GrossoutShow gross]] and [[VulgarHumor vulgar]]. Their music video for "PuttingThePeeInPool" is not for the easily disgusted.

* WouldNotShootACivilian: A 1960s British psychedelic rock band that was most notable for their anti-authoritarian pacifist streak and vehement opposition to America's Vietnamese intervention. Their first album, ''SchoolIsForLosers'' (1965, #5), barely had a release outside of Britain at all. It famously split while in collective police custody following an out-of-control anti-war rally in Swindon. Reunited in the 1980s, and have been together since. Their first album since their split up, ''We're Still Relevant Dammit'' (1984, #1) is a CultClassic to many.

* XtremeKoolLetterz: A rap/hip hop band with completely unoriginal songs that are usually covers for other rap artists. Well, except for the fact that they have Xtremelee Kool Leerix Wyth Phunkee Letterz.
* {{Yandere}}: All female band whose love songs alternate between pop music and death metal.
* YokoOhNo: All-female J-pop group that does covers of [[Music/TheBeatles Beatles]] songs.
* YouSquared: Post-modern future bass.
* YouWannaGetSued: Alternative band that only does covers and remixes. Currently has some legal troubles.
* YourMakeupIsRunning: GothMetal band that often [[MoodWhiplash alternates between depressing and sexual without warning]], fronted by a gorgeous PerkyGoth who wears a [[SexyWhateverOutfit skimpier take on a funeral dress]] during live performances. MoralGuardians claim that they promote DomesticAbuse, sexual abuse, and rape, even though they rarely (if ever) discuss such topics. The closest they got to the last one was with their controversial hit-single "''ArentYouGoingToRavishMe''", which describes an interaction between a young woman who wants to take part in a rape fantasy, and a guy who was initially uncomfortable with it, but slowly gets talked into it.
* YoureCuteWhenYoureAngry: An all-girl trio of {{Cute Bookworm}}s. At one point in most of their songs, they get upset, but it just comes off as adorable instead. Usually involves a desperate shout of "YouWontLikeMeWhenImAngry!" and then frustrated {{Angrish}}.

* The ScoobyDoobyDoors: A [[Music/TheDoors Doors]] tribute band consistinh of two men and two women. The members dress as ''Franchise/ScoobyDoo'' characters (Fred on vocals, Velma on keys, Shaggy on drums, and Daphne on guitar), and in-between songs they perform skits with an overarching story involving them solving a mystery (which is different depending on the city they're performing in). Scooby (and, when he appears, [[TheScrappy Scrappy]]) are represented by hand puppets performed by the drummer and guitarist, respectively, while the suspects and other characters are played by their backup dancers. They have a FandomRivalry with fellow ''Scooby'' tribute band TakeThatScrappy, though both bands are good friends with one-another.

* SeinfeldIsUnfunny: Rock and Roll. They sound almost exactly like Music/TheBeatles, but everybody's tired of the same old songs about love.

* ThisIsMySide: Hard rock that insults UnacceptableTargets. Fans defend them by saying that if you're getting offended, just don't listen to their music.

* AdaptationDeviation: Said to be one of the greatest musical groups to ever grace the TV Tropesverse. They had a falling out and everyone lost track of what became of them, but an infinite number of conspiracy theories were born around them.
