* While PlayedForLaughs, Critic in "The Review Must Go On" review comparing Donnie's TraumaCongaLine to Atreyu in ''Film/TheNeverendingStory''. Poor guy had such a hard life, it's at least nice for Critic to acknowledge that he was an IronWoobie like the latter character.

* In a meta sense. Doug finally doing the ''Film/SupermanIVTheQuestForPeace'' review Creator/LewisLovhaug kept asking to do.

* His final, conciliatory summation at the end of his review of the Live Action version of ''Film/HowTheGrinchStoleChristmas'': He may hate it, but he doesn't hate the fans at all. Of course, [[IgnoredEpiphany he still thinks he's right]]. And in a meta way, it's genuinely impressive how Doug still kept his usual aesop of "every movie means something to someone and that's perfectly alright".
** Also, the Critic later concedes in his review of ''Film/TheCatInTheHat'' review that Creator/JimCarey as the Grinch, while it may not have been fully perfect, was a good performance and Carrey was giving the viewer an actual character, especially compared to Creator/MikeMyers as the Cat, who seemed to have the status of a MemeticMolester in the Critic's opinion.

* Meta example. Nerd/Critic was the ship that started the LGBTFanbase, so to get a confirmation in ''Film/TheSmurfs''[[note]]Critic tells the phone guy that his dick is bigger than Nerd's and to not ask how he knows that, and there's not really a straight way to take that.[[/note]] is just neat.

** In a meta sense, how there's no easy “man in drag” jokes with Doug!Winifred and the witch is treated like a woman. Even in behind the scenes, the others are weirded out by Doug in the dress/wig/make-up but tell him (much to his pleasure) that he looks great, which is also sweet. And in Fan World 2016, he talked about coming out of the make-up chair and being really happy with how Creator/BetteMidler-like he looked.

* In ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretOfNIMH2'', he has a gigantic rant about putting too much pressure on kids.

* In the effects section for "Old vs. New: Film/KingKong", how he makes sure to give the old version all the credit they deserve, even though it's obvious that the new was going to get the point.

** And despite being on opposite sides of the film debate, WebVideo/EightiesDan returns in the ''Film/ScoobyDoo'' episode and warmly tells Critic he's always welcome to hang out. In the manchild world of TGWTG where film opinions are usually seen as more important, it's nice to see someone with priorities in order.

** It also sweetens the DownerEnding of ''Film/AChristmasStory2'' (where Critic in StockholmSyndrome keeps the door open for Hyper), as it's not her that comes in but Chester who if you remember was freezing after he sold his coat.

* It might sound also incredibly disgusting, but his description of being a child who was excited to the extreme for the live-action ''Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles'' movies.

* While most definitely EarlyInstallmentWeirdness, his first video for his gushy excitement on the ''{{Transformers}}'' movie.

* The actress who played Lisa in ''Film/TheRoom,'' Juliette Danielle, recently praised his review of her movie. And after all the shit she went through during filming and from audience members, the episode must have been pretty cathartic for her.

** A few weeks later, her having {{squee}}s over both his review of ''Film/TheRoom'' and epic take-down of [[Film/{{Twilight}} Bella Swan]].

** Talking about the insulting ManipulativeEditing that the film did, taking fans of the franchise who felt empowered by the cartoon (and ''talking about the cartoon''), and making it look like they were talking about the movie.
** After all the Pokemon drama, trying to make peace by saying he has his own silly nostalgia (TMNT and the like) and "you have yours (showing Pokemon) and that's fine".

* In ''Film/Ghostbusters2016'', Evilina excitedly telling the meninists how much she enjoyed the new film, along with all the pictures of girls in their jumpsuits. It makes the meninists [[HeelRealization realize how shitty they're being]], and after all the focus on "both sides are bad", it's lovely to have "little girls have a Ghostbusters movie" as the finale.

** Extra sweetness in that she was planning to tell Critic how much she loved the movie, and he would have presumably been glad she enjoyed it. Nice change from ''Film/TheCatInTheHat'' days.
** The random hug between Critic and Malcolm (with Critic resting his head on Malcolm's shoulder) after the latter says he didn't go and see ''Film/IndependenceDayResurgence''. The whole scene, even though it's short, is a rare example of casual friendship between the three.

** In the behind the scenes, Tamara telling Aiyanna "girl you look amazing". Also again how much the women love being in their outfits, to the point where they plan to go to a convention together. Malcolm also tells them they look fantastic.
*** Doug complimenting on how well KJ and Heather were doing in making his dad look like Music/OzzyOsbourne, saying he just wanted "teehee Dad as Ozzy", but they're amazing at make-up.
*** Getting that Holtzmann is gay and how important it is. The girls are hugging (cute on its own), Malcolm calls it the most diverse prom ever, Doug chimes in that "well one of them is a lesbian" and Aiyanna {{squee}}s "IT ME".
** At a con, Doug talked about being worried while filming it because he and the Awesome Comics girls were getting so much misogyny for praising it. He asked Malcolm and Tamara if they wanted to cancel, not wanting them to get shit too, and they encouraged him to keep going.
* The response to the WTR: Teddy Ruxpin ending, with a lot of people thanking him for the aesop and saying it helped with anxiety.
