* November 17, 2014: [[http://thecolbertreport.cc.com/videos/9dr12d/survival-tips-from--good-morning-america- Stephen buries his hatchet of hate towards bears]], admits that he's wrong about them and proceeds to hug and kiss [[spoiler:and have sex with]] a bear. Obviously it's not a literal living bear (just a guy in a bear suit), but it's so sweet to see a man surpass his fears and embraced the thing he used to hate.

* March 16, 2009: Creator/NeilGaiman's [[https://www.cc.com/episodes/tsnkya/the-colbert-report-march-16-2009-neil-gaiman-season-5-ep-37 interview with Colbert is sweet]], especially if you know he's wearing funeral clothes because [[TearJerker his father died while he was touring]].
** When Colbert starts saying he has a bone to pick with Neil, the author smiles and says he heard of that, Colbert's fury that a British guy won the Newberry Award. He then proceeds to explain that children's stories have many horrific moments -- when Colbert cites ''Literature/PeterRabbit'', Neil points out that the rabbits were worried about ending up as farmer's stew so it's not a cutesy story.
** They get into a pleasant discussion about if Tom Bombadill should have been included in the ''Lord of the Rings'' films. Neil believes no, Colbert starts reciting a bit from the books.
** Neil says he can't wait for Colbert's book ''Fuck It We're All Going To Die.'' (Sadly, it's not printed yet.) He recommends Art Spiegelman to do the illustrations.

* January 23, 2012: His interview with Creator/MauriceSendak. A few months later Sendak died and ''The Colbert Report'' showed another part of the interview, in which he talked about one of his books, ''Higglety Pigglety Pop''. Sendak and Colbert cracked very few jokes during this part, and Sendak stated his philosophy on trying not to turn children away from the fact that the world is very harsh.

Sendak also, under great protest, says that he likes Colbert's new picture book.

* The week of December 10, 2012: The whole [[Literature/TheHobbit Hobbit]] week and Stephen's [[JustForFun/OneOfUs nerdy joy]] over playing with his Literature/LordOfTheRings merchandise, pwning Creator/IanMcKellen in Tolkien trivia, over-gleefully thanking the stars for coming to his show etc. was very heartwarming to watch.

* October 3, 2013: After Stephen found out that 24 weddings were canceled because of October 2013 Government Shutdown, he volunteered his show and [[ItMakesSenseInContext his services as an Ordained Minister]] to a young couple in place of the spot (the Jefferson Memorial) they were going to use for their wedding. They were married right there on his show, with Creator/MandyPatinkin singing the Shehecheyanu and Tony award-winner Audra [=McDonald=] performing [[Creator/BillyIdol "White Wedding"]] for the first dance.

* November 20, 2014: Stephen's guest for the night? [[Series/TheDailyShow Jon Stewart]]. It's as funny and sweet as you'd guess, especially the end. Stephen expresses how happy he is to have Jon on his show and pretty much chucks any attempt at remaining in character out the window as they basically end the show cuddling and kissing.[[note]] On the cheek, on the cheek.[[/note]]
