* When Shining and Idol discuss Idol's new RelationshipUpgrade with Topaz, Shining asks ''why'' Idol fell in love with Topaz. Despite all his doubts, uncertainties, misgivings and self-recriminations, Idol ''immediately'' asks how he could ''not'' have fallen for her.

* Towards the end of chapter 72, Idol is heading to his new home in the Crystal Empire, thoroughly miserable -- on top of the lingering trauma from the Invasion, he's been forced to endure a long [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes train ride]], is a tropics-adapted being now forced to live in an ''arctic'' environment, and he's less than impressed with the Crystal Ponies themselves (though a lot of that is just him lashing out at them). And then he sees his new home is a crystal recreation of the house he shared with Topaz back in Canterlot and he ''instantly'' perks up, becoming happy for the first time in the chapter.
* The reunion between Idol and Topaz at the end of chapter 72:
** Firstly, Topaz was willing to uproot her entire life at a moment's notice and migrate to the Crystal Empire just to be with Idol.
** Secondly, there's Topaz gushing to Idol about all the new insects and arachnids she can study as head of the brand-new Crystal Empire entomology lab. Her sheer ''joy'' is made all the sweeter by Idol just soaking it up in honest delight at seeing her so happy, and his own happiness at finally being reunited with her.
** Finally, Topaz invites Idol to join her in bed (in both senses of the word)... and, after dithering for a few moments, Idol finally pushes past his insecurities and doubts about having possibly {{Mind Rape}}d her and follows
her.

No meta moment, see this query.

* Somewhat meta, but just how well Idol Hooves does at adapting to Pony society and even growing beyond the limits of his old Changeling mindset without noticing it. The Idol Hooves of Chapter 61 is a very, very far cry from his mindlessly deferential and socially uncoordinated self, even being able to joke around with Princess Celestia and celebrate Twilight's growing independence from her overawed hero-worshipping youth.

* A subtler example; chapter 68 implies that all of Cersus' foal friends stayed friends with her after she revealed herself as a changeling to them. They even tried to help her break Idol out of jail.

* In chapter 69, Topaz Showers is, understandably, ''furious'' when she sees Idol Hooves again, since the last time they spoke, he was saying they "needed to talk" about their RelationshipUpgrade -- and then he went and got taken into custody by outing himself as a changeling. However, the ''instant'' that she spots the physical damage he suffered during the invasion, she goes borderline ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend and rounds on the Princesses, accusing them of mistreating ''her'' Idol.
* Also in chapter 69, the matter of fact way Topaz accepts that she and Idol are now coltfriend and fillyfriend, and her bluntly making it clear to Idol that no, he did ''not'' MindRape her and that they ''will'' get things straightened out once he's formally released, because they have known each other too long and too well to be acting like silly young foals with a crush.
-->'''Topaz:''' “Idol, have you been ''hiding in the dungeon''… because we knocked hooves and you think ''I'' didn’t have free will? Because ''I'' don’t actually love you?”
-->'''Idol:''' “Yes! That! That exactly!”
-->'''Topaz:''' “Okay, good, you’re just being dumb. I ''do'' love you, so you can go ahead and deal with that, because we jumped ''way past'' the silly awkward phase of whatever we’re doing about it.”

* In chapter 68, Mothchaser comes to free Idol Hooves, even though this would be breaking her oaths as a guard. When Idol tries to stop her by revealing that he's a changeling, she retorts that she figured that out after the invasion was over and she doesn't ''care'', because she knows Idol and so she '''knows''' that he wasn't involved in the invasion.
* Also in chapter 68, the thestral noblemare Nerium showing up to free Idol Hooves because his "daughter", Cersus, saved her own daughter Nighthawk during the invasion.

It wasn’t much. But to a changeling whose world had been shaken so badly over the course of so few days, it was everything.

* Filly Twilight is so adorkable that, when she gets into the bad habit of reading and walking at the same time after mastering her levitation ability, the Royal Guard get into the habit of gently nudging her out of the way of journey-disrupting bumps and crashes rather than try to make her stop. Then they get into the habit of sticking post-it notes on the cover of her books and using her as an impromptu messaging service, with it becoming a game to see just how many notes she can accumulate over the course of a day. Even years later, Celestia herself still remembers this fondly and likes to joke about it.

%%Work In Progress* Although the end of Chapter 48 is hard to read, [[TrueCompanions it is worth it.]]
-->[[CooldownHug Topaz said nothing but embraced me.]] Warmth flowed from her, emotional and physical. She offered sympathy, with only a little pity. She shared my pain, and that made it bearable.\\
