* Leanne and Angie trying to subtly hint to Soso that she needs to take a shower by loudly discussing the new deodorant at commissary. Given how they react when Pennsatucky bluntly tells Soso that she stinks, they're trying to get Soso to bathe without hurting her feelings and the same time.

** Red comforts a crying Piper in her bunk and is furious when she realises she's been branded. She then states that Piper can't go around with a mark like that, which is why she changes the nazi symbol into a window instead. Meanwhile Norma and Alex support poor Piper as she has to endure even more pain.

* In Piper's flashback, there's a scene where a bunch of students jump off the back of a school bus while it's still moving. The bus driver stops the bus when Piper doesn't join them, asking why she didn't and adding that he purposefully slows down when he sees the kids doing it, because it's tradition.

** Big Boo gives Piper the screwdriver she had stolen from her as a Christmas present, with a little label that suggests she might find it useful. No doubt as a weapon to use against Doggett.

* Sophia has a strict 'mother's only' policy when it comes to doing the inmates hair for Mother's Day, though she does relent and allows a tearful Morello to get her hair done too when she admits that 'dolling' herself up is the only thing keeping her going lately.
* Poussey asks Gloria for some help in setting up a game booth for the children who will be visiting on Mother's Day, and Gloria is touched enough to agree. When Poussey says that she's going to use some of her commissary funds to buy prizes for the children, Gloria compliments her on doing a really nice thing, while Poussey explains that mothers are amazing and deserve a day dedicated to them.

* Piper bonding with the Golden Girls is sweet in itself, but then she takes time to start helping Jimmy, such as talking to her and assisting her at meal times. Naturally, she's devastated when Jimmy is sent away, especially as they've formed a strong enough bond for Jimmy to call out to Piper (even if she does call her the wrong name).

** Then there's how the other inmates help Piper out along the way. Suzanne gives her the peppers she needs without question, Sophia lets her exchange some hair for shea butter and Nicky buys the stuff she needs at the commissary without knowing when Piper can pay her back. Morello explains that everyone saw how hard Piper was working to make amends, which helped when it came to Red forgiving her.
** While Piper angrily rejects it, it's quite sweet that Alex tries to sneak her some food.

** Cindy makes things right with her daughter and mother by promising to meet at a fast food restaurant every Sunday at 11 o'clock. She promises to be a good mother and person by being there for Monica. Lillian shows doubt that this will happen as it will take Cindy a long time to make Lillian and Monica forgive her. Cindy begins by telling Monica about her dad. A faint smile is shown in Monica as it's the start of redemption.

Pennsatucky tribute

Added DiffLines:

* Suzanne's tribute to Pennsatucky. After some encouragement from Dixon, she overcomes her stage fright ("Can't Fight Crazy") and sings to honor her fallen friend; after she starts to choke up, Dixon joins in and she regains her composure, and soon the other attendees join in for the finish.
