* In the end of the first book, the death of the School Master causes the two schools to lose their division, turning the uniforms silver and the schools gold. ** The obvious answer to this question is that book one was written when the author didn't know they'd be allowed to make a series or had any intent to. My guess is that when the book sold like hotcakes he was rushed to turn it into a series.
