** The other AIs we've seen go rogue (the geth, and the AI on Luna) in Mass Effect weren't meant to be AIs, but were heavily over-engineered VIs that showed traits the designers never intended. EDI was meant to be an AI from the get-go, which means more control over the process.

***** One thing that a lot of people don't consider is the fact that Paragon and Renegade are not mutually exclusive, so this means that a lot of "Renegade" decisions aren't exactly what a full-Renegade Shepard would do - particularly those that only come up as a result of Shepard already having made a Paragon choice like destroying the Collector ship, though that's not exactly relevant here - but rather just options to handle the situation at hand in a Paragon or Renegade manner. So Shepard can choose to respond to the betrayal in an understanding and diplomatic way, or by getting angry. There's no fundamentally "Paragon" or "Renegade" Shepard, it's just the actions s/he (the player that is) chooses to perform.

*** Because the Council's idiocy is so unfathomable that if they're not indoctrinated, every Citadel race has something a '''''[[{{Understatement}} LOT]]''''' more potent than fluoride in their drinking water. Everybody is scratching their heads as to how BioWare is going to write their way out of that plot element.

* I think a lot of people may be missing one very important point: Just because Kaidan/Ashley might not be consider it cheating doesn't mean it wouldn't still ''hurt'' to find out that Shepard started up a romantic relationship with someone else. Not to mention that they'll probably be completely blindsided by it.\\
Personally, I'm hoping that there will be extra Wham Factor if the new romance is with someone from the original crew. For instance, if [=FemShep=] romanced Kaidan in [=ME1=], it would be painful enough for him to find out that Shepard has hooked up with Thane or Jacob. But it's a double kick in the teeth if it's ''Garrus'', who knows Kaidan personally. And who ''definitely'' knew about their relationship -- if not before, then certainly after their reunion on Horizon.[[hottip:*:\\
'''Kaidan:''' "I thought we had something, Shepard. Something real. I ''loved'' you." -- Not much room for misinterpretation there.]]\\
Also, it's terrible of me, but there's a tiny part of me hoping that along with the usual attempts at diplomacy, there will be a dialog option along the lines of: "[[LampshadeHanging Look, truth is, you were just the best option at the time]]." Not because I don't like Kaidan (I do), but because BioWare loves hanging those lampshades.

** From Lair of the Shadow Broker: it's possible to continue a relationship with Liara if you cheated on her. Presumably this applies to Ashley and Kaidan as well

******* I'm shocked and dismayed that so many people think "politician" is a code-word for "bumbling idiot who will deny something with an overwhelming amount of evidence to support it". I don't know what country you are from, but politicians are competent. And you would expect them to trust someone they gave more authority than most species. It's as if the UN gave someone authority to control nuclear weapons and battleships, to start wars in their name and murder people without question, and that person said "The [[{{Cloverfield}} Cloverfield monster]] is going to attack New York and release Cthulhu". Then, after the UN rejects it as silly, the Cloverfield Monster damn near destroys New York. Then the UN says "Don't be ridiculous, it's an Al Qaeda genetic experiment. Now excuse me while I outlaw independent scientific inquiry".

*** Can I mention Bell's inequality here? I'm not a physicist any more, but when I was Alain Aspect had just conducted some experiments confirming it. Which meant that Quantum theory and Relativity are mutually incompatible. Both these pillars of physics have passed every other experimental test, but one must be wrong. That means we don't know if Trans-light information transfer is possible or not, global causality violations be damned. Kip Thorne has calculated that wormholes would allow time travel, so in effect FTL communication, but that's a different mechanism. And it required exotic matter (eezo, anyone?) besides.
