** Judging by Sachiko reviving people at will in 2U and everyone living until the end of the day, it's not a rule of Heavenly Host but a self-enforced rule.

** One could argue that the people trapped inside the school are forced to "replay" the entire day up to their death over and over again, and that the main cast did technically die before managing to "appease Sachiko" (think of like breaking the loop you're stuck in). As for why they don't get "marked", it's probably because the school didn't choose their fate yet (take for example Naomi, who can either be beaten up to death or end up possesed by the Darkening, compared to someone like Seiko who ALWAYS receives a life threatening injury on her neck).

* So, at the end of BoS's first chapter, Sachiko establishes "that once a soul has passed away in these halls, they're marked forever and will continue to die". Why doesn't that apply to different timelines? The (original) 5 who survived have different deaths in alternate timelines, yet they all make it in the canon timeline because...?
