Armor Piercing Slap is no longer a trope

** Heck, even Edna Mode falls under this trope. She's a fashion designer for superheroes, and serves as a large source of comic relief in the film. But she also gets two moments of pure harshness. Later, when Helen has a HeroicBSOD upon discovering Bob's secret return to heroism, Edna smacks her around a bit and tells her that she needs to pull herself together and save her husband.

* Franchise/Robocop follows three directives: serve the public trust, protect the innocent, uphold the law. Nothing is said about not coldly blowing away killers, or not brutalizing a suspect before bringing them in (laws concerning how to handle arrested criminals have changed slightly in future Detroit). In the second film, he is programmed with several hundred more directives aimed at improving OCP PR, but those directives make him a terrible police officer. Instead of arresting criminals, he starts lecturing them on the immorality of their actions, while they happily go about their criminal business.

* Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse
** Steve Rogers in the is shown to be one of the nicest, sweetest people you would meet. However, when fighting HYDRA and the invading Chitauri he is merciless, including throwing HYDRA soldiers off airborne aircraft, hacking off Chitauri arms and even throws a knife into a mook’s hand as he tries to signal for help which is straight out the Punisher’s playbook. Steve does dip into the more extreme GoodIsNotNice end of the scale in later films, to point of being a borderline WellIntentionedExtremist in Civil War and in Endgame is willingly to cruelly exploit his past self grief over Bucky just to defeat him.
** Also Natasha Romanov aka ComicBook/BlackWidow, who is capable of showing great kindness and affection (in particular to Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, and Barton ) and is capable of joking with Steve about setting him up on a date while at the same time mercilessly killing mercenaries and HYDRA mooks. Played with slightly in that she is legitimately disturbed by some of her past kills.
** Tony Stark aka ComicBook/IronMan at his best (i.e not being a egotistical jerk) is a FriendToAllChildren who’s more than willingly to sacrifice himself for his team and for the sake of humanity on several occasions as essentially the BigGood of the MCU. But even when saving innocent villagers, he mows down terrorists like a ruthless killing machine, though he is willing to spare surrendering mooks, as seen in Film/IronMan3.
** ComicBook/Thor a BoisterousBruiser who’s pure hearted to the core, is still an incredibly violent BloodKnight who will go on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge against those who have hurt his loved ones. He even takes his time making Thanos suffer in revenge
** Peter Parker aka ComicBook/SpiderMan manages to be even more kind hearted than even Captain America, but when pissed off can be extremely ruthless as Mysterio found out the hard way. He’s got quite the bodycount by the time of Film/AvengersEndgame, thanks to the Instant-Kill mode in his Iron Spider suit. During a multiversal crisis he loses and proceeds to deliver a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown to killer, and tries to stab him with his own . Unfortunately, a GenreSavvy intervenes and manages to calm him down.
** ComicBook/TheVision a Benevolent AI and unlike other heroes is willing and able to talk his opponents down rather than just overpower or kill them. Push him too far, though, and he’ll show you how powerful of a FlyingBrick he is. He’s also okay with stabbing his foes InTheBack as seen in Infinity War.
** T’challa aka ComicBook/BlackPanther is a polite NiceGuy and the noble king of his country who will go full on Terminator to anyone who hurts his family and [[spoiler: is willing to kill his own cousin when the latter usurps his throne and tries to take over Wakanda, and later use his power to do the same to the world.]]
** Bruce Banner when not a green raging monster, is a unfailing polite NonActionGuy who is definitely a more kindly ScienceHero than Tony. Although even then, Bruce is perfectly willing to choke a young woman out, admittedly one who MindRape||d him a few days ago. Bruce also manages (unintentionally) to kill his pursuers even as his mild mannered alter ego in Film/ThorRagnarok.
** Scott Lang aka ComicBook/AntMan II is goofy, kind hearted man who’s also a devoted and loving father. Yet he’s still perfectly willing to horrifically crush a man by breaking his shrinking suit to protect his daughter and will literally kill enemies by casually stepping on them as Giant-Man.
** Adult Groot from Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy is easily the TokenGoodTeammate of the team being a AllLovingHero and FriendToAllChildren. But even then he’s still willing to rip an alien thug’s nose off and put on a MookHorrorShow who flashes a carefree smile to his friends after brutally killing an army of foes.
