Considering how violent and ruthless the Marauder is (corrupting Pokémon into brainwashed slaves, burning down an entire forest, etc.), it's not a huge stretch to imagine that he may have killed the poacher afterwards, possibly to prevent anyone from discovering how he found Celebi's location, or simply ForTheEvulz.

* If the Masked Marauder's Pokémon become evil, why do they continue to faithfully follow his orders? Wouldn't evil Pokémon be constantly rebelling?
** It's possible that his dark Poké Balls also force the Pokémon into being subservient to him -- which actually makes him sound more monstrous if you think about it...
** The Dark Balls do what [[VideoGame/PokemonColosseum Cipher does to Shadow Pokémon]] -- turn them into mindless machines of battle.
