Why does Darkiplier say that he "respects" Wilford Warfstache in "Markiplier TV" when it've been established from the get go that Dark really only cares about his own self-interests? Because he remembers him as the Colonel, the former friend of both Damien and Celine, whose worst aspects of themselves have been merged to become Darkiplier himself. It proves that while they may be part of a monstrous, manipulative force of evil that's beyond saving, the evil parts of Celine and Damien inside of Dark ''still recognize what's left of the Colonel'', and acknowledge him as an old colleague.
