* DisasterDominoes: Clouseau nearly get to hook up with Xania, but he ends up dropping his vasodilator pill down her bathroom's sink. He opens the pipe by kicking it, but causes water to spray everywhere. He manages to blow the pill out of the sink, but it lands in his flaming cocktail, [[MadeOfExplodium causing a huge fire ball]] and setting the curtains on fire. The bathroom is flooded at this point as Clouseau tries to put out the fire with the removable shower handle (which isn't working because all the water is going elsewhere) and accidentally pulls it out of the wall, causing more water to flood the room; during the chaos, Clouseau accidentally grabs a plugged in hairdryer that electrocutes him because he's soaking wet an holding a metal shower handle. The water starts to soak through the floor to the lobby below and causes the floor to collapse under Clouseau, causing him to fall onto the help desk.

* HarmlessElectrocution: Clouseau repeatedly hurts himself this way three times: first, by cutting a wire in a lamp, mistaking it for a bug, then, he shocks his own groin while demonstrating a torture device, and finally, he electrocutes himself after accidentally flooding Xania's hotel bathroom and grabbing a plugged-in hair dryer during the chaos.

* NotMeThisTime: Despite bitterly confessing to the murders, an annoyed [[spoiler:Yuri, the trainer who trains]], tells Dreyfus (who's trying one last time to one-up Clouseau) that he did not steal the Pink Panther; Clouseau then reveals that [[spoiler:Xania had it all along. * SheepInSheepsClothing: Xania is a sweet, pretty pop star, but acts very shady throughout the film, suggesting she had something to do with Gluant's murder and the theft of the Pink Panther. [[spoiler: The end reveals that she ''is'' connected to the case, but she didn't kill anyone or steal the diamond: Gluant gave her the diamond as an engagement ring as a promise not to cheat on her anymore, but Gluant's murder made her realize that she'd be the number one suspect if she was caught with the diamond, so she had it sewn into her vintage purse. As for the murders, it turns out it was Yuri, the trainer who trains, who killed everyone and attempted to kill Xania herself for rejecting him]].
* ShoutOut:
** Bizu is a reference to a French soccer player named [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinedine_Zidane Zinedine Zidane]], who's also known as "Zizou".
** Nigel Bosewell is an AffectionateParody of James Bond. His appearance and portrayal by Clive Owen are an in-joke to how Owen was once considered to play Bond until Daniel Craig got casted; Owen not getting the part is teased when Clouseau asks 006 if he wasn't good enough to be 007.

* WhosOnFirst: When Clouseau learns that Bizu's last words were "Oh, it's you," he tells Ponton to find somebody named You to interrogate.

* GoodCopBadCop: Clouseau ignorantly does ''both'' the "good" and "bad" cop routine when he aggressively questions Bizu, only to go out of the room and return, acting more pleasant and sympathetic towards Bizu and winds up getting the name of Gluant's business partner who had reason to kill him. However, in typical Clouseau fashion, he returns to Bizu in "bad cop" mode, carrying a device to torture answers out of him, ''in spite'' of already getting what he wanted to know from the soccer player; Clouseau ends up electrocuting his own balls demonstrating the device.

** The replica of the Pink Panther diamond that he showed to Ponton's sons, which [[spoiler:he plants in the museum as bait for the Tornado]].
-->'''Clouseau''': I knew [[spoiler:the Tornado would eventually come after the Pink Panther, so I went to the museé with a simple plan in mind. I had convinced my old friend, Robert the night guard, to turn off the security system for the few moments necessary to save the most beautiful object in France. I then switched the Pink Panther with the replica I had at home. [He takes the real Pink Panther out of its case] This is the real Pink Panther. It was the fake that was stolen]].
** And the Medal of Honor which [[spoiler:deflects a bullet fired by Sonia]].
* DreamTeam: Clouseau and Ponton are part of an international team of detectives and experts tasked with finding the Tornado. They consist of:
** Italian detective [[OverlyLongName Vincenzo Roccara Squarcialupi Brancaleoni]].
** Randall Pepperidge, a British detective specializing in [[SherlockScan deduction]].
** [[AsianAndNerdy Kenji Mazuto]], a Japanese technology expert.
** Sonia Solandres, the world's foremost expert on the Tornado [[spoiler:and his secret ex-lover]]
* EurekaMoment:
** Clouseau has one while staring at the license plate of [[spoiler:Sonia's]] car. By checking his records, Clouseau realizes he had given a ticket to the same car two days before the Pink Panther was stolen - this contradicts [[spoiler:Sonia's alibi that she had been delayed to the crime scene by her flight. In reality, she had been Paris much earlier and committed the theft.]]
** Clouseau had one when the Tornado's [[spoiler:fake]] suicide note describes the beauty of the Pink Panther diamond which the thief supposedly destroyed. [[spoiler:Clouseau realized the Tornado couldn't have been the thief because the Pink Panther diamond had been swapped with a replica Clouseau had at home to protect it; the Tornado would have been able to tell it was a fake.]]
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** After the Dream Team leaves Avellaneda's home, [[spoiler:the Tornado steps out, having been offered shelter by Avellaneda. As they leave, the Tornado mentions that he knows a member of the Dream Team personally.]]
** At one point, Sonia and Clouseau talk about their relationship problems and Sonia says that the man she is in love with [[AllLoveIsUnrequited does not love her back]]. [[spoiler:This and the above are clues that she is the Tornado's former lover]].
* KansasCityShuffle: Clouseau uses this gambit as bait to catch the Tornado [[spoiler: when the Pink Panther diamond is seemingly destroyed after Clouseau bluffs Sonia Solandes into shooting it into dust, Clouseau has the real Pink Panther brought out, which he switched with the replica in a BaitAndSwitch setup in anticipation of the Tornado]].
* NeverSuicide: The Tornado is found dead in his apartment, having supposedly committed suicide after destroying the Pink Panther. [[spoiler:He was actually murdered by Sonia who framed him for the thefts.]]
* NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent: In contrast to Herbert Lom, a Czechoslovakian-born emigrant to Britain, [[Creator/JohnCleese John Cleese's]] accent as Dreyfus in ''The Pink Panther 2'' is strongly British, which is exceptionally ironic, given the historical rivalries between Britain and France. HilarityEnsues when Cleese's Dreyfus tries to say the OverrideCommand "hamburger" with his British accent in ''The Pink Panther 2'', only for Steve Martin's imitation French mispronunciation of "hamburger" to successfully call off the security forces.
* OrgyOfEvidence: The Tornado is eventually found dead by suicide, surrounded by all the stolen items except the Pink Panther which his suicide note claims he destroyed. Everyone except Clouseau thinks they have gotten their man. [[spoiler:It is revealed that all the thefts were actually committed by [[WomanScorned Sonia]] who framed the Tornado and killed him.]]
* PhantomThief: The Tornado is a thief who has never been caught. The only clue to his identity is an unmatched blood sample which was obtained when he was shot while fleeing from authorities during a heist.
* ProperlyParanoid: Clouseau is instructed to go to Japan, the site of the Tornado's most recent heist, to meet up with the Dream Team. However, Clouseau is reluctant to leave as he believes that without him in France to protect it, the Pink Panther will be taken by the Tornado. Indeed, no sooner does Clouseau step past the "You are now leaving France" sign at the airport, than a news report reveals that the Pink Panther has been stolen again.
* ReplacedWithReplica: [[spoiler:The film's climax reveals that the Pink Panther that was stolen and then destroyed by Sonia is actually a replica Clouseau had swapped out with the original in order to protect it from the Tornado. The reveal that the Tornado is an expert in the quality of gems is what makes Clouseau realize that he was not responsible for the theft as he would have been able to recognize the replica Pink Panther as a fake.]]
* SherlockScan: PlayedForLaughs in the first meeting between Clouseau and Pepperidge:
-->'''Pepperidge''': Gentlemen, we first have to determine how the crime was committed. And as I am an expert at deduction...
-->'''Clouseau''': You are an expert at deduction?
-->'''Pepperidge''': That is my field.
-->'''Clouseau''': I believe deduction is ''my'' field, and since you are experiencing hip pain...
-->'''Pepperidge''': How did you know that?
-->'''Clouseau''': One side of the sole of your shoe is more worn than the other; you're favoring your right leg.
-->'''Pepperidge''': Tell me, did you enjoy your double espresso this morning?
-->'''Clouseau''': How did you...
-->'''Pepperidge''': Your pupils are noticeably dilated.
-->'''Clouseau''': And will you be moving out of the Hotel Montmartre? They are doing construction at night around the Montmartre so as not to disturb daytime traffic. From your puffy eyes, I deduce you spent a sleepless night.
-->'''Pepperidge''': Speaking of traffic, are you enjoying your Smart car? Your trousers are wrinkled behind the knees.
-->'''Clouseau''': And how do you think your favorite football team, Arsenal, will do this year? That matchbox is from the only bar in Paris that shows English football telecasts.
-->'''Pepperidge''': You have tissues in your shoes to make you look taller.
-->'''Clouseau''': You were finally 14 before you finally learned to enjoy avocado.
-->'''Pepperidge''': Tell me, how did you enjoy your trip to the airport this morning?
-->'''Clouseau''': Now, how did you know that? [the airport stamp on Clouseau's hand is visible to everyone]
-->'''Ponton''': Perhaps one of you should begin.
-->'''Clouseau''': Yes, this is silly.
-->'''Pepperidge''': You've recently lost your favorite cheese grater.
-->'''Clouseau''': You have an aversion to cow bells!
** Vincenzo brings an end to this when he discovers a piece of broken glass with fingerprints on it.
* StealItToProtectIt: [[spoiler:Clouseau stole the real Pink Panther from the museum and swapped it with a fake in order to keep it safe from the Tornado. Clouseau also realizes that the real Tornado wasn't the thief when his supposed suicide note described the fake Pink Panther's beauty; since the Tornado was an expert on gems and their value, he would have known the diamond Clouseau left at the museum was a fake.]]
* WomanScorned: This turns out to be [[spoiler:Sonia's]] reason for framing the Tornado and killing him.

* AdaptationalHeroism: The Dreyfus in these films never becomes a murderer like his original counterpart and is at worst a glory-obsessed opportunist. The second film does reference the original version's murderous hatred of Clouseau with an offhand comment about wishing he had shot him.

The second film does reference closest we get to an acknowledgement of the original version's murderous hatred of Clouseau with tendencies is an offhand comment about wishing he had shot him.Clouseau in the second film.

* AdaptationalJerkass: In the original movies, Dreyfus often tried to keep Clouseau away from any important cases in order to avoid embarrassing the police because he knew Clouseau was a WalkingDisasterArea whose success rate was more due to dumb luck than anything else. Both ''Film/TheReturnOfThePinkPanther'' and ''Film/TrailOfThePinkPanther'' had Dreyfus protesting the decision to send Clouseau to Lugash because he feared Clouseau could potentially cause an international incident and damage France's global reputation. The Dreyfus in the 2000s films puts Clouseau on the Pink Panther case in the first movie simply to use him as a distraction for the media while he quietly works on breaking the case himself to bolster his public image. In the sequel, he places Clouseau on a wild goose chase in the form of an undercover traffic duty assignment to keep him away from any important cases so the detective doesn't upstage him again. And while the original Dreyfus seemed to have some respect for police work, which was the primary reason for his hatred of Clouseau's antics, this version only cares about fame and recognition.

** ''The Pink Panther (2006)'': When Ponton expresses bafflement at Clouseau not labelling Bizu a prime suspect and arrest him despite Bizu openly admitting he has a strong motivation for wanting to kill Gluant (which Ponton sees as an indirect confession). Clouseau, in his "jigsaw puzzle" speech, basically points out that they don't have the whole story of Gluant yet and it's best to investigate the case from every angle they can even if the evidence initially leans toward a particular suspect. This is a perfectly sound decision as [[spoiler:Bizu turns out to not be the killer.]]
** ''The Pink Panther 2'': Pepperidge expresses concern that the thief is going to fence the stolen items but Clouseau points out that most of the items are too famous to be sold on the black market. The only fencible item is the Pink Panther which can be cut down into smaller gems. [[spoiler:This is precisely Sonia's plan.]]
* GeniusDitz: Inspector Jacque Clouseau [[IdiotHero isn't necessarily the brightest protagonist ever put to film]]. He has a long history of hit-or-miss cases in his hometown, is often SarcasmBlind, [[LiteralMetaphor takes euphemisms and metaphors literally]], will often try to apply genre tropes in mind whenever the predictable happens, [[WhatTheFuAreYouDoing claims to know karate but is never shown to have any talent in it]] and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking has a speech impediment]]. That said, he has a rather hyper-focused attention to details some may overlook, understands Chinese and was able to uncover both Pink Panther thefts (and all murders involved) with way more accuracy than two separate teams, the first the Chief Inspector's team, the second a DreamTeam of international detectives with way more impressive wins under their belts.
* GloryHound: In both films, Dreyfus is less concerned with police work and more concerned with fame and recognition. He even tries to take credit for Clouseau's solving the case in the climaxes of both films.
