Oh, there's also a replacement love interest for Hank named Elaine, but she doesn't do much besides not die. And all her dialogue has been redubbed by someone even older for some reason. And she's played by the sister of the lead, explaining the complete lack of sexual chemistry between them.

:: Now imagine if those two lines had been swapped. Yes, Hank is supposed to be the hero.

Mighty Whitey is for works where white European characters go and save the day for ethnic minority cultures. It is not "the protag is white but I don't like him."

* MightyWhitey: Hank seems to think of himself as this, as seen in Brief Accent Imitation above. He's actually borderline useless unless Eulabelle is pushing him along.

I mean, no. The other characters take intitiative. Eulabelle didn't need to tell Dr. Gavin to start studying the creatures, for example. But she is the one who moves the plot forward the most during the padding sections.

* EthnicMenialLabor: Eulabelle is an example of the "mammy" archetype. subverted in the fact that she’s the only proactive character, everybody else in this movie just reacts to things rather than taking any initiative.
