This, however, only applies to them, as the film narrative treats everything which Daniel suffered as rightly horrific and mentally scarring.

* PoliceAreUseless: Daniel tries to report the crimes he suffered, but the police start laughing after being told the perpetrators [[DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale were women]]. After this, it appears that he understandly decides they won't help and tries to find his attackers on his own. [[spoiler:It may be averted by the end though, when Daniel is seen starting to tell Oslen, a police detective what happened (he's sympathetic and specializes in such cases).]]

* MistakenIdentity: Daniel becomes convinced that a woman he sees in a bar was among the women who'd raped him. He follows her while going into the bathroom, assaults her and rips open her blouse to see if she's got the tattoo Daniel remembers. She doesn't, and he's soon arrested.

* MaleFrontalNudity: Daniel's penis is visible when his kidnappers cut off his clothes, with one trying to touch it before stopping when he pleads with her. He stays entirely naked for some time afterward. He is also shown explicitly masturbating at their command when coerced to.

* ActingForTwo: Anna Torv plays both Bridget and one of the abductors, though this isn't necessarily meant to mean that Bridget was one of the abductors. Ana Kokkinos just thought she was the best actress for the role.
** That said, Kokkinos hasn't given an explicit WordOfGod stating that it's NOT to be seen that way. The film has some interesting dynamics if you see Bridget as one of the abductors, especially given the hints at their relationship deteriorating.

* ADateWithRosiePalms: A disturbing one at that, but brings about Daniels defiant CrowningMomentOfAwesome. In the same scene, one of the female captors goes on a date too.

''The Book of Revelation'' is a 2006 Australian film based on the novel by Rupert Thompson, directed by Ana Kokkinos and starring Tom Long, Greta Scacchi, Colin Friels, Anna Torv and Deborah Mailman.

* RapeIsOkWhenItIsFemaleOnMale: Averted ''hard''. It's shown as every bit as traumatising to Daniel as it is generally shown to female characters in other works. It's even somewhat lampshaded as such when Daniel tries to report the crime under the IHaveThisFriend guise, only to be told by the police that the friend must have been a lucky bastard. When Daniel joins in their laughter it's heartbreaking.

* HollywoodSex: Averted. Oh, so averted.

The film is ''very'' esoteric, and is not one to take lightly. Reviews were mainly positive, praising the performances of all involved (especially Tom Long in a challenging role) but the film is often criticised for being slow, with languid pacing and too much silence trying to pass as meaning. But, as always, [[YourMileageMayVary mileages vary]]

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Given that she's present for the first half of the film, Bridget's disappearance from the story seems a bit odd.

* EverybodyRemembersTheStripper: Justified. The film is a gentle look at the brutality of rape, how it destroys a man's life, and how it affects the people connected with him. But you'll only hear people talking about the rape scenes. That's because they stand out so harshly against the otherwise softly-spoken film.
