Removing real-life aversions from No Animals Were Harmed

* NoAnimalsWereHarmed: Strongly averted. The film uses real tarantulas, and there are several scenes of them being run over by cars, squashed, and who knows what else occurred during production. While it's to be expected that a film with only a million-dollar budget would basically have to subsist on real spiders in order to avoid the inevitable SpecialEffectsFailure that would come with attempting to mass produce fake ones, it still garners quite a bit of criticism from animal rights activists.

** Tarantulas do not spin webs, for one. Even in large numbers, the venom of a tarantula is extremely mild to humans and large mammals.
** The movie [[LampshadeHanging does acknowledge]] that the "spider hill" would be extremely unusual behavior in real life. Tarantulas are solitary animals more likely to cannibalize each other than share a den, much less live or attack in swarms.

* SomewhereAnEntomologistIsCrying: Both the spiders' aggressiveness and sudden boost in venom potency is blamed on the reaction to their food supply being cut off by human encroachment on their habitat. Somehow the lack of food made the spiders (only the tarantulas, mind you) more venomous, more aggressive and more numerous. Oh, and tarantulas don't use webs to catch food. They hunt. And, in the case of lack of food, would sooner turn on each other than try and tackle something even the size of a dog, let alone humans or livestock.

* MyNameIsNotDurwood: Again, Rack doesn't like being called John.
* NoAnimalsWereHarmed: Averted. ''So'' many tarantulas died in the making of this film. In the AttackOfTheTownFestival scene, for instance, a car is driven through a bunch of live tarantulas, and a few can be seen getting crushed under the wheels, not to mention the scene where Rack saves Linda from a bunch of tarantulas on her bed, and then flips the bedspread, ''throwing the live spiders across the room.''
