Blonde answers "no" directly to the CEO, not the Invigilator

*** The question that the group spends the entire movie searching for was given to them at the start. All you have to do to pass is turn in your unspoiled form and answer "No."
*** Wouldnt saying "No" be considered communicating with the invigilator and get you disqualified?

* RedHerring: A couple.
** White insists on using nicknames, since their real names aren't on their papers, only Candidate numbers, and "there's got to be a reason for that." Ultimately, there isn't, and the Candidates could have used their real names the entire time.
** Dark notes that the Invigilator's ExactWords regarding "one question before you" doesn't necessarily mean they all have the SAME question before them. This is later proven false, as the only question was the one given to ALL the Candidates at the very beginning: "Any questions?"
** Who applied for the job vs who was headhunted never really comes into play beyond a brief discussion, though it DOES end up revealing that Dark already works for the company.
* RedHerringMole: Dark, who actually ''did'' work for the company, but was legitimately applying for the position, and was not planted there intentionally.

* RedHerring: Everything: the pencils, the lights, the lighter, the sprinkler system, and the gun are all distractions. The test is solved by handing in the unmarred paper and voicing the answer aloud.

** Ultimately, only Blonde figures out the ''true'' exact words. The Invigilator says that there is a question before them and asks only one question: "Are there any questions?". All you have to do to pass is turn in your unspoiled form and answer "No."

to:

** Ultimately, only Blonde figures out the ''true'' exact words. ''"Listen carefully to every word I say."''
***
The Invigilator says that there explicitly spells out the ExactWords nature of the rules at the very beginning.
** ''"We're giving the eight of you eighty minutes."''
*** No one said the countdown clock in the front of the room was accurate, or immune from tampering. White even sets his OWN stopwatch, only to later forget about it. This proves to be his undoing.
** ''"There
is a no law in this room but our law, and the only rules in here are our rules."''
*** Assault, torture, even attempted murder, are all allowed (even passively encouraged). The Invigilator and CEO seem perfectly content to watch White die from the Virus until Blonde finally gives him his pill. Conversely, even accidentally breaking one of the Invigilator's rules results in immediate disqualification.
** ''"There is one
question before you, and one answer is required."''
*** Dark notes that this doesn't mean it's the ''same'' question for each of them.
** ''"If you try to communicate with myself, or the guard, you will be disqualified." ''
*** The first thing the applicants figure out is that communication between each ''other'' is perfectly fine.
*** It is perfectly acceptable to physically interact with the guard. Brunette takes a lighter out of his pocket, Black takes his gun, and White physically uses him to hold (and fire) the gun once it's established that the gun has a fingerprint scanner. Just don't attempt to ''communicate'' with him.
*** You don't even have to ''succeed'' in communicating with the Invigilator or the guard (neither Dark nor White actually get a response.) Just the ''attempt'' is enough to disqualify you.
** ''"If you spoil your paper, intentionally or accidentally, you will be disqualified."''
*** The Chinese Woman quickly discovers that even ''writing'' on the paper counts as "spoiling" it. She is the first to be disqualified. Black later points out how vague "spoil" is, noting that no one knows for sure what the Invigilator's definition of it is (Evidentially, getting it wet doesn't count.)
*** White quickly realized that you are free to spoil someone ELSE'S paper, and divides up the Chinese Woman's paper as "experimental material" as the group attempts to reveal the question.
*** It's never established what would happen if you spoil someone else's paper who hasn't been disqualified yet. White tricks Brunette into spoiling her ''own'' paper, and bullies Deaf into spoiling ''his.'' Black later places a pencil in White's hand and stops just short of physically moving it himself, clearly trying to get White to spoil his ''own'' paper.
** ''"If you choose to leave this room for any reason, you will be disqualified."''
*** Blonde points out that they can't just throw White out of the room, as "he's not choosing to leave, is he? You're choosing for him. Which puts you at risk, too."
** ''"Any questions?"''
*** The question that the group spends the entire movie searching for was given to
them and asks only one question: "Are there any questions?".at the start. All you have to do to pass is turn in your unspoiled form and answer "No."
