-> I live... I love and slay. And I am content.

The last (as we are still to see the 2014 Schwarzenegger movie) film featuring Conan of Cimmeria, another take on Conan's story rather than a remake. On the one hand, this means that the movie significantly differs from the previous ones by, for example, giving Conan completely different childhood and youth. On the other, the movie retains all the essential elements of a good Conan story: Conan, a DistressedDamsel, an Evil Sorceress, an EvilOverlord and an ArtifactOfDoom for everyone to quarrel over. In fact, the characters being really simple in terms of psychology, it can be argued that the movie's general feel is even closer to the original than that of the previous films. (All that in spite of the curious fact that particular parts of the setting, though they reflect the mood of their Howardian equivalents, are renamed so as they do not fit neither the stories nor the previous films (there are exceptions - for example, Acheron comes straight from Howard's fiction). Of course, the movie has a lot of blood and some nudity and is extremely sword and sorcery.

The story revolves around the CoolMask made of the bones of kings, which in the distant past let the rulers of Acheron take over, the world only to be scattered into pieces and divided between barbarian rulers so as never to become dangerous again. As was to be expected, an evil leader tries to gather all the pieces and put them into use in order to bring his late wife BackFromTheDead. Accidentally, he happens to be the man who tortured and killed Conan's father. And the man who wants to use a beautiful BlueBlood girl as a reincarnation vessel for his wife. And overall a very, very evil man. The rest is wild screaming.

* ActionGirl: Tamara, after gradual promotion from DistressedDamsel.
* AdvancedAncientAcropolis: the monastery of Shaipur. The monks (or at least their leader) can predict future and presumably spend the majority of their time studying, when everyone around them is busy with butchering each other.
* AnAxeToGrind: at times, though Cool Swords are Conan's WeaponOfChoice.
* AncientAfrica: where else would Artus come from?
* AntiHero: Conan.
* CoolMask: with TENTACLES!!
* BadassLongHair: nearly everyone.
* TheBait: Tamara is this for Conan to lure Khalar Zym, and then for Khalar Zym (to lure Conan).
* BarbarianHero: first and foremost.
* BarbarianTribe: the Cimmerians.
* BarBrawl: staged by Conan to be taken to Khalar Zym's prison.
* BerserkButton: Conan's is slavery.
* BigBad: Khalar Zym.
* BloodMagic: performed by Marique.
* BoundAndGagged: subverted, as it is Conan, not Khalar Zym, that does it to Tamara.
* BurnTheWitch: Marique's mom.
* ColdBloodedTorture: even Conan does it.
* CombatPragmatist: almost everyone. That's no world for old people, after all.

* EyeOfNewt: Marique needs blood to perform some of her magic. Also, her outfit is rather terrifying - one may wonder whether it's just a matter of personal style or, somehow, a necessity for every witch. The latter option is made even more probable by the fact that her mother used to dress in a very similar way... Then again, Marique clearly has some issues.

* PregnantBadass: Conan's mom. She gives him birth on the battle chariot, immediately after slaying one of her enemies, sword in hand, armoured and all. The Caesarean cut is done by the father with his sword, no less - so that a sword is the first thing seen by Conan outside of his mother's womb.
* RescueRomance: obviously.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Conan.
* ScarsAreForever: Conan has quite a lot of them, and many have their stories.
* ShoutOut: to original stories. For example, just after a BarBrawl Artus alludes to the story told by Howard in "Literature/TheTowerOfTheElephant". (Which would probably make even more sense if the city of thieves was not renamed from Arenjun to Argalon.)
* TheSneakyGuy: Ela-Shan.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: since Conan becomes an adult, he looks like he did not own a single shirt.
* WithMyHandsTied: Conan intentionally becomes a prisoner to meet Khalar Zym face to face, and then .
* WreckedWeapon: Corin intentionally breaks the sword to show Conan that both fire and ice are needed for steel not to perish.
* YouKilledMyFather: Conan and Khalar Zym.
