These reports from Unova and Hoenn made no mention of any Magmar or Magmortar in the habitats. The Magby were said to look after themselves, suggesting that Magby may also display the nomadic behaviour of their older morphs, and though the reason for this is not currently known, it has been shown that these Magby are able to interact with humans more readily than those that remain living with their birth parents.

The Magmar line is omnivorous, and while Magby generally favours roasted berries, they will occasionally eat scraps of meat brought back by Magmar and Magmortar. Magmar will periodically go on hunts, and each hunting group usually consists of four Magmar led by a female Magmortar. Much like many other Fire-types, such as [[FanonPokedex/{{Charmander}} Charizard]] and [[FanonPokedex/{{Litleo}} Pyroar]], they prefer raw meat and as such, will not use their flames on prey. 'Egg Warmers' (described in the Courting and Childrearing section) tend to eat fruits and berries, as they often tend to the eggs of species that would normally be preyed upon by the Magmar line, and preying on them would be counter-productive.
!! Hazards
As Fire-types, the primary hazard of owning one is the fire-breathing capabilities of the line and their high body temperatures. These temperatures peak around the tip of a Magmar's tail, especially the flame, and the crests on its head. For Magmortar, the head and shoulder crests are especially hazardous to the touch. The line's ability to generate toxic fumes is also an inherent danger which can lead to hospitalisation in particularly serious cases. Magmar and Magmortar are incredibly protective of their young, so do not approach a wild Magby, as there is a high chance one or both of its parents will be nearby. 'Egg Warmers' (covered in the Courting and Childrearing section below) are fiercely protective of their host's eggs and exhibit similar behaviours.\\\
Magmar with colds shoot flames when they sneeze, so a trainer should locate a volcanic region as fast as they can to soothe the Magmar's nerves and remedy its cold. Magmar also have a habit of being relentless towards foes. When upset, Magmar does not stop continuously spouting flames from its body until its foe turns to ash, which means that getting on the bad side of any member of the Magmar line is unwise.
!! Courting and Childrearing
As a line which is predominantly male, competition for females is fierce. The Magmar that can produce the largest and hottest flames are viewed as the strongest and are thus favoured by females. Contests are held, involving physical strength and firepower. The cognitive abilities of Magmar and Magmortar allow for scenarios which can be compared to humans holding strength competitions, like those that are televised. Magby is the baby stage of the line and is thus sexually immature, so all the breeding is done by Magmar and Magmortar. Once a pair of Magmar are evolved into Magmortar, they will find a volcanic crater within the vicinity of their Matriarch, where they can then raise their young. Magmar will create a nest on the outer edge of the matriarchal territory, often covered up by copious amounts of grass. The Magmar line is oviparous, and most of them mate for life. Sometimes however, promiscuous males and females will find multiple partners for copulation, with the females either raising the young alone, or leaving them to be adopted by other Magmar or Magmortar.\\\
Most of the 'Flame Body' genotypic males which do not end up partnered will wander away from their habitat and become what are known as 'Egg Warmers' or 'Egg Guards'. They gain a strong sense of nurturing towards eggs, and an Egg Warmer will take up a temporary role as an egg warmer for any one of a large number of different species. An Egg Warmer will choose a nest and guard the eggs of its chosen host. This not only gives the biological parent(s) of an egg the ability to forage for food safely, it also speeds up the development of the unborn young and roughly halves the time the egg takes to hatch. When egg-sitting, a Magmar or Magmortar will defend the host eggs with its life from predators, though it seems to favour smaller species which are more regularly preyed upon. Once the egg hatches, it will wait for the host to return to its nest if not already there, at which point the Egg Warmer will then leave the nest and move onto another host. The sense of nurturing does not extend to the host's young, as it is speculated (and sometimes reported) that Magmar-hatched newborns are often more 'battle-ready' and in better condition than normal hatchlings and thus do not require the protection so much. In spite of the rarity of females, females themselves will also sometimes wander when not chosen as the next female to be evolved, rather than waiting around.\\\
In controlled conditions, all three members of the line have been introduced to non-Magby Pokémon eggs, where Magmar and Magmortar instinctually know what to do upon merely spotting the eggs. Magmar form large groups in their territory, lead by a female Magmortar known as the Matriarch. There are usually a few matriarchal groups per region, but near-countless nomads also exist. Magmar tend to be subordinate to Magmortar. Contests over the largest and strongest flames are held, and once a Magmar gains the favour of their leader, she will allow him to bathe in a nearby volcano, allowing for evolution into Magmortar. The Magmortar pair then settle down into a nearby crater, but remain the leaders. A new female is then chosen to become a subordinate Magmortar, and the cycle repeats. Subordinate females and males are only allowed to start nests if they decide to leave their original matriarchal group. Only hard-working and loyal Magmar are deemed worthy to become Magmortar, so a rogue Magmortar is more or less a non-existent concept. Competition for females is only done between Magmar, since Magmortar can easily overpower rogue Magmar with their greater control over non-fire elements and their higher firepower, and the Matriarch can easily cast out unwanted aggressive members of the group. As a nurturing species, infanticide is unheard of, but undesired offspring between rogues are usually cast out from the group along with their parents. Nomadic Magmar travel alone, though often these Magmar all sweep over the same areas, and as reported in the Habitat section, some Magby also live nomadically, with these individuals forming large groups for protection purposes.
!! Co-evolution With Other Species
There is scientific evidence suggesting that long ago, the Magmar and Electabuzz lines co-evolved and taught each other how to better utilise their omni sacs; however, Electabuzz and Magby were never allowed to interact as the latter's red colouration sent the former into a blind rage, a trait carried over to their modern biology that has never been shared with Elekid or Electivire. The Magmar line is able to use the 'Thunder Punch' technique as described above, and Magmortar alone is able to use the 'Thunderbolt' technique. In a similar light, the Electabuzz line is able to utilise the 'Fire Punch' technique and Electivire can also breathe fire in the form of the 'Flamethrower' technique. It is thought that due to near-extinction from Magby and Elekid being preyed upon, the two lines co-mingled and taught these techniques to allow for better protection against predators. The Electric-type techniques proved incredibly useful in fighting off Flying-type and Water-type predators. As the populations started to grow again, they went their separate ways and could return to their old habitats. With this came a decrease in predators, though the line members that couldn't defend themselves were still preyed upon successfully, and eventually the genes for Magmar line members became rather separated from what they once were. The nurturing behaviour of Egg Warmers is adored by Pokémon breeders worldwide as the ability to put unrelated eggs together and have the Magmortar hatch them more quickly is a useful asset for a breeder. Magby are also sometimes used in potteries, where their soft flames are useful in producing fine work. Magmortar were once widely used in factories, where they were able to process metal extremely well due to the Magmortar's flames, although only a few factories still do this to this day.\\\
The Magmar line is well regarded as nurturing creatures, and see positive depiction in stories and tales, as a contrast to the largely negative portrayals once common for the Electabuzz line. The [[VideoGame/PokemonXAndY Safari zone in Kalos' Kiloude City]] and the [[VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon Wela Volcano Park]] [[VideoGame/PokemonUltraSunAndUltraMoon in Alola]] are also home to Magby and Magmar. Magby [[VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite were once found in the White Forest area of Unova]], but after [[VideoGame/PokemonBlack2AndWhite2 human developments reduced the habitats of the wild Pokémon population]], Magby populations migrated to the Virbank complex just south of Virbank City, and the gas emitted from the smokestacks is credited for their sudden appearance at this construction zone. One trainer, who wishes to remain anonymous, reports that they spotted Magby [[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire on an isolated mountainous island on the northeast area of Hoenn's Route 125]]. These reports from Unova and Hoenn made no mention of any Magmar or Magmortar in the habitats. The Magby were said to look after themselves, suggesting that Magby may also display the nomadic behaviour of their older morphs, and though the reason for this is not currently known, it has been shown that these Magby are able to interact with humans more readily than those that remain living with their birth parents.
!! Diet
The Magmar line is omnivorous, and while Magby generally favours roasted berries, they will occasionally eat scraps of meat brought back by Magmar and Magmortar. Magmar will periodically go on hunts, and each hunting group usually consists of four Magmar led by a female Magmortar. Much like many other Fire-types, such as [[FanonPokedex/{{Charmander}} Charizard]] and [[FanonPokedex/{{Litleo}} Pyroar]], they prefer raw meat and as such, will not use their flames on prey. 'Egg Warmers' (described in the Courting and Childrearing section) tend to eat fruits and berries, as they often tend to the eggs of species that would normally be preyed upon by the Magmar line, and preying on them would be counter-productive.
!! Hazards
As Fire-types, the primary hazard of owning one is the fire-breathing capabilities of the line and their high body temperatures. These temperatures peak around the tip of a Magmar's tail, especially the flame, and the crests on its head. For Magmortar, the head and shoulder crests are especially hazardous to the touch. The line's ability to generate toxic fumes is also an inherent danger which can lead to hospitalisation in particularly serious cases. Magmar and Magmortar are incredibly protective of their young, so do not approach a wild Magby, as there is a high chance one or both of its parents will be nearby. 'Egg Warmers' (covered in the Courting and Childrearing section below) are fiercely protective of their host's eggs and exhibit similar behaviours.\\\
Magmar with colds shoot flames when they sneeze, so a trainer should locate a volcanic region as fast as they can to soothe the Magmar's nerves and remedy its cold. Magmar also have a habit of being relentless towards foes. When upset, Magmar does not stop continuously spouting flames from its body until its foe turns to ash, which means that getting on the bad side of any member of the Magmar line is unwise.
!! Courting and Childrearing
As a line which is predominantly male, competition for females is fierce. The Magmar that can produce the largest and hottest flames are viewed as the strongest and are thus favoured by females. Contests are held, involving physical strength and firepower. The cognitive abilities of Magmar and Magmortar allow for scenarios which can be compared to humans holding strength competitions, like those that are televised. Magby is the baby stage of the line and is thus sexually immature, so all the breeding is done by Magmar and Magmortar. Once a pair of Magmar are evolved into Magmortar, they will find a volcanic crater within the vicinity of their Matriarch, where they can then raise their young. Magmar will create a nest on the outer edge of the matriarchal territory, often covered up by copious amounts of grass. The Magmar line is oviparous, and most of them mate for life. Sometimes however, promiscuous males and females will find multiple partners for copulation, with the females either raising the young alone, or leaving them to be adopted by other Magmar or Magmortar.\\\
Most of the 'Flame Body' genotypic males which do not end up partnered will wander away from their habitat and become what are known as 'Egg Warmers' or 'Egg Guards'. They gain a strong sense of nurturing towards eggs, and an Egg Warmer will take up a temporary role as an egg warmer for any one of a large number of different species. An Egg Warmer will choose a nest and guard the eggs of its chosen host. This not only gives the biological parent(s) of an egg the ability to forage for food safely, it also speeds up the development of the unborn young and roughly halves the time the egg takes to hatch. When egg-sitting, a Magmar or Magmortar will defend the host eggs with its life from predators, though it seems to favour smaller species which are more regularly preyed upon. Once the egg hatches, it will wait for the host to return to its nest if not already there, at which point the Egg Warmer will then leave the nest and move onto another host. The sense of nurturing does not extend to the host's young, as it is speculated (and sometimes reported) that Magmar-hatched newborns are often more 'battle-ready' and in better condition than normal hatchlings and thus do not require the protection so much. In spite of the rarity of females, females themselves will also sometimes wander when not chosen as the next female to be evolved, rather than waiting around.\\\
In controlled conditions, all three members of the line have been introduced to non-Magby Pokémon eggs, where Magmar and Magmortar instinctually know what to do upon merely spotting the eggs. Magby can also perform egg-sitting, but this is a trained behaviour which requires time and patience; being sexually immature, Magby do not possess the nurturing instincts of their older morphs.
!! Social Structure
Magmortar are matriarchal. The Matriarch will live as part of a mating pair in volcanic craters. Some unpaired Flame Body Magmar and members with the Vital Spirit gene will form their own smaller groups on the edge of, or outside of, the matriarchal territories. Magmar line behaviour is comparable to a monarchy, as a contrast to the troop behaviour seen in the [[FanonPokedex/{{Electabuzz}} Electabuzz]] line. Magmar form large groups in their territory, lead by a female Magmortar known as the Matriarch. There are usually a few matriarchal groups per region, but near-countless nomads also exist. Magmar tend to be subordinate to Magmortar. Contests over the largest and strongest flames are held, and once a Magmar gains the favour of their leader, she will allow him to bathe in a nearby volcano, allowing for evolution into Magmortar. The Magmortar pair then settle down into a nearby crater, but remain the leaders. A new female is then chosen to become a subordinate Magmortar, and the cycle repeats. Subordinate females and males are only allowed to start nests if they decide to leave their original matriarchal group. Only hard-working and loyal Magmar are deemed worthy to become Magmortar, so a rogue Magmortar is more or less a non-existent concept. Competition for females is only done between Magmar, since Magmortar can easily overpower rogue Magmar with their greater control over non-fire elements and their higher firepower, and the Matriarch can easily cast out unwanted aggressive members of the group. As a nurturing species, infanticide is unheard of, but undesired offspring between rogues are usually cast out from the group along with their parents. Nomadic Magmar travel alone, though often these Magmar all sweep over the same areas, and as reported in the Habitat section, some Magby also live nomadically, with these individuals forming large groups for protection purposes.
!! Co-evolution With Other Species
There is scientific evidence suggesting that long ago, the Magmar and Electabuzz lines co-evolved and taught each other how to better utilise their omni sacs; however, Electabuzz and Magby were never allowed to interact as the latter's red colouration sent the former into a blind rage, a trait carried over to their modern biology that has never been shared with Elekid or Electivire. The Magmar line is able to use the 'Thunder Punch' technique as described above, and Magmortar alone is able to use the 'Thunderbolt' technique. In a similar light, the Electabuzz line is able to utilise the 'Fire Punch' technique and Electivire can also breathe fire in the form of the 'Flamethrower' technique. It is thought that due to near-extinction from Magby and Elekid being preyed upon, the two lines co-mingled and taught these techniques to allow for better protection against predators. The Electric-type techniques proved incredibly useful in fighting off Flying-type and Water-type predators. As the populations started to grow again, they went their separate ways and could return to their old habitats. With this came a decrease in predators, though the line members that couldn't defend themselves were still preyed upon successfully, and eventually the genes for Magmar line members became rather separated from what they once were. Additionally, both Elekid and Magby can be found at the Virbank Complex in Unova, lending further weight to this theory,
!! In Human Culture
The nurturing behaviour of Egg Warmers is adored by Pokémon breeders worldwide as the ability to put unrelated eggs together and have the Magmortar hatch them more quickly is a useful asset for a breeder. Magby are also sometimes used in potteries, where their soft flames are useful in producing fine work. Magmortar were once widely used in factories, where they were able to process metal extremely well due to the Magmortar's flames, although only a few factories still do this to this day.\\\
The Magmar line is well regarded as nurturing creatures, and see positive depiction in stories and tales, as a contrast to the largely negative portrayals once common for the Electabuzz line. The Magmar line's helping of humans cooking also leads to pop culture portrayals of them as chefs and bakers' apprentices, as their flames are often praised for creating good-tasting meals and they are commonly employed in restaurants and bakeries, and often regarded as equal to humans despite their more limited sapience.\\\
Given that Magmar are matriarchal, stories of volcanic lands being ruled by Magmortar queens are sometimes told in story books, with the darker parts of Magmar-line life often left out of the books children read. Magby are also depicted as brave and adventurous, a stereotype that seems evident from some individuals' willingness to live without the protection of any Magmar or Magmortar, as reported above.\\\
Magmortar's appearance seems to lead to the belief that they inspired clowns and court jesters for their clothing style, though this is largely disputed, and the [[{{FanonPokedex/MrMime}} Mr. Mime line]] is often credited for this instead.\\\
