* ActionGirl: Myria, a Draconis Combine Mechwarrior, is a badass whether she's piloting her mech or fighting with a sword, in addition to being the only fundamentally decent person in her entire lance, and quite a looker to boot.
* BigDamnHeroes: The SI's interruption of the execution.

* DavidVsGoliath: The SI's HeavyGear is tiny compared to the mechs fielded by the Inner Sphere, but is capable of hitting well above its weight.
* DisproportionateRetribution: When the SI escapes from the Combine's security forces after forcing a local news station to broadcast a recording of an extremely offensive cartoon that mocks their head of state Takashi Kurita, everyone working there as well as their families are sentenced to death by the local military forces after the man himself orders the SI's death and that of his accomplices. This in spite of the fact that he was holding them at gunpoint, and had no idea what was on the disk he gave them. The SI is not amused.
* Expy: Invoked. The SI's appearance is modeled after The Stig, and is even called that in-universe thanks to ROB shenanigans.

* HilarityEnsues: Dear sweet Jesus, does it ever! The SI's exploits are gut-bustingly hilarious, and it looks like he fully intends to keep topping himself.

* MisplacedRetribution: As mentioned under DisproportionateRetribution, the execution. Not only do the local forces not care that the people working at that broadcasting station had been forced to play the SI's recording at gunpoint, they also sentence their families to death along with them. It makes the SI interrupting the execution and subsequent wrecking of everyone involved all the sweeter.

* OhCrap: Chou, when he learns that his duplicity was broadcast across the entire Inner Sphere, thereby humiliating his head of state and the entire Draconis Combine, realizes that even if he were to survive his current situation (i.e. fucked), there would be no escaping the Combine's StateSec or what they would do to him for his treachery.
* PetTheDog: Takashi Kurita, when he learns the details of the SI's intervention with the aforementioned execution. He gives everyone that was slated to be executed an official pardon, and orders everyone in the chain of command who helped carry it out stripped of their titles and posessions before sentencing them to death for their actions.

to:

* StalkerWithACrush: Romano Liao.
PoorCommunicationKills: When Takashi Kurita ordered the deaths of the SI and his nonexistent accomplices, he meant the support personnel that would be necessary for the SI to carry out his actions. He had not meant it as "execute the people working in the broadcast station as well as their families," and was most displeased to learn local forces had interpreted his order that way.
* PublicExecution
* RevengeByProxy: The execution, also DisproportionateRetribution and MisplacedRetribution. Ordering the poor news workers executed for broadcasting something at gunpoint? Par for the course in the Draconis Combine, but the SI won't let that happen. Executing their families as well? That goes beyond the pale, and there was no mercy to be had.
* TakingYouWithMe: When Chou reveals his betrayal and plan to murder her while making it look like the SI's fault, Myria decides that he's not going to survive the ensuing firefight.
* TranquilFury: Takashi Kurita, after watching the live broadcast of the fight between the SI, Chou, and Myria. It's surprisingly hilarious.

-->Takashi Kurita was angry. Takashi Kurita was so very angry. Takashi Kurita was in fact so angry that he’d entered a new state of rage that he’d never thought possible. Despite the lethal, burning fury that burned in his heart that one would think would drive any man to a rabid, sputtering madness, he was in fact, perfectly calm. It was as if he’d reached the Zen of Rage, a twisted form of enlightenment, a state of perfect oneness with his fury.

* Troll: The entire reason that the ROB dumped the SI in the Inner SphereSphere, and he's damn good at it.
