Added DiffLines:

* HeadDesk: Jaune repeatedly knocks his head against the desk he's sitting at once he realizes that a misunderstanding related to Lie Ren's name being pronounced the same way as Weiss's undercover alias (Wren) has led Nora to believe that he's been bedding Ren.

Added DiffLines:

* InSpiteOfANail:
** Although it happens many years earlier in the timeline, Yang still essentially gets her right arm lost and replaced.
** Although Jaune never started the school year as a Beacon student, Pyrrha (and presumably Ren and Nora) still end up on a team named JNPR without him. Word of God in the author's notes says that the "J" in their team is Jacqueline Ivory from ''VisualNovel/ProjectJPDE''.
** [[spoiler:Though it happens later in the timeline, and though it's inflicted by Winter's saber instead of the Arma Gigas' sword; Weiss still gets her signature scar over her left eye]].

* SpiritualAntithesis: To Creator/CoeurAlAran[='s=] ''[[Fanfic/WhiteSheepRWBY White Sheep]]'', which is also an AlternateUniverseFic where certain canon characters are rewritten as Grimm-human hybrids affiliated with Salem. In ''White Sheep'', Jaune Arc is the HalfHumanHybrid son of Salem who deceives his way into Beacon Academy masquerading as a human so he can live among the canon (and human) students: in ''My Abominable Monster Classmates Can't Be This Cute'', Jaune is the secretly-human outlier in an AcademyOfEvil populated by [[ArtificialHybrid "Grimmified"]] versions of the cast whom are being taught by Salem to perfectly disguise themselves and infiltrate the human world. Jaune in ''White Sheep'' was at Beacon because he rebelled against Salem's wishes, whereas in ''MAMCCBTC'', Salem wants Team AWRY to infiltrate Beacon in order to further her evil plan. Salem in ''White Sheep'' was a version who'd mellowed massively after falling for Jaune's father and was ready to retire from villainy, and it's the well-meaning actions of Ozpin, his inner circle and the kingdoms which share much of the blame with Salem's forces for the escalation of the conflict; whereas Salem in ''MAMCCBTC'' is the primary antagonistic force, and she sets the story's benchmark for heinousness. Both stories follow Jaune trying to reconcile Grimm and humanity after a fashion in strikingly different ways: Jaune in ''White Sheep'' ultimately focuses on literally getting the kingdoms in the bigger picture to accept and learn to coexist peacefully with the Creatures of Grimm, whereas Jaune in ''MAMCCBTC'' focuses on getting his beloved pack of Grimm hybrids to find and embrace their human sides again and understand that not all humans are their enemy. ''White Sheep'' was mostly light-hearted, whereas ''MAMCCBTC'' is a lot darker than the title and all the hijinks would make you think.

* HybridsAreACrapshoot: Not only does the process by which Salem turns her abducted students into hybrids in the Pools of Annihilation ''kill'' some of the children outright, but it's almost unheard of for those who survive to have all their original body parts still intact when they come out the other end, leading Salem to "gift" them with transplants fashioned from Creatures of Grimm or technology (similar to Cinder's [[GoodProstheticEvilProsthetic Grimm arm]] in canon). For examples, Ruby has a right arm transplanted from an Apathy, Yang has a right arm fashioned from two Beringels in addition to the permanent small holes marring the sides of her face, May has only one eye, Wesson has a Death Stalker transplanted to the back of his body, etc. Weiss and Cardin (before the latter got mutilated and stitched back together) are the only two hybrids who survived Grimmification with their entire bodies intact.

submit. Jaune quickly realizes that she has a kink for it.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Ruby is shunned by everyone except Jaune and Yang because of her incomplete Grimmification leading to her incredibly abnormally positive nature.nature compared to the other hybrids.
* AlternateUniverseFic: For years before the series' start, Salem has been covertly having her Grimm abduct children and teenagers from across Remnant -- including the would-be future members of Teams RWBY and CRDL, and May Marigold -- and transforming them into human-Grimm hybrids that are secretly reared in the Grimmlands as her tyke-bombs. Fast-forward to the present and when Jaune applies to become a huntsman, he gets drawn into Salem's AcademyOfEvil for the hybrids instead of getting accepted into Beacon.

* AnArmAndALeg: Grimmified Ruby has an Apathy Grimm's right arm similar to canon Cinder's arm, and Grimmified Yang has a gigantic right Grimm arm that was originally fashioned out of two Beringels. Both are transplants which were fashioned onto the sisters after they were hybridized, implicitly because their original right arms weren't among the bits of them that survived being turned.

* ArtificialHybrid: The Grimm hybrids were all once humans or Faunus -- Salem turned them into albino, humanoid monsters in her own image by subjecting them to a process which involved submerging them in the black Pools of Annihilation: the same pools which turned Salem into her current Grimm-like form when she was submerged in them.

* BigSisterInstinct: Yang still has this towards Ruby.

Ruby. Even before she regains most of the human emotions that her hybridization locked away, she tolerated Ruby more than the other hybrids, hung out with her at times, and she gets pissed off on Ruby's behalf when she thinks Jaune isn't responding to Ruby's advances. [[spoiler:After regaining human emotions, Yang is forced to admit that she truly loves her sister like a human would]].

* CovertPervert: During the Beacon infiltration, Velvet is responsible for introducing Weiss to internet porn after she overheard Weiss publicly inquiring about it, and she isn't exactly disinterested when Weiss suggests Velvet can form a "[[{{Polyamory}} pack]]" of her own.

** Each of the four RWBY girls learn the truth about Jaune being human one by one. Blake finds out first [[spoiler:because she could sense Jaune's humanity from the start and just kept it to herself]], then Ruby finds out second, Weiss third, and Yang last [[spoiler:when Jaune admits the truth to each of them one by one]].

* {{Irony}}:
** Blake is the most recently-turned of the hybrids, having apparently been captured during the events of the "Black" trailer (whereas Weiss, Ruby and Yang were all abducted and turned as children), yet she's even ''more'' warped and twisted than the "older" hybrids are in both her body and her mind.
** Yang in this continuity hates Raven even more passionately than in canon, because she blames Raven for her and Ruby getting captured by the Grimm and turned into hybrids when Yang was out trying to find her. Grimm Yang's altered circumstances also mean that if anything, she shares even ''more'' personality traits in common with her birth mother than her canon self did, as described under SharedFamilyQuirks.
** Raven generally doesn't like alcohol because of [[TheAlcoholic Qrow's habits]]. After the twins discover the truth about Ruby and Yang's fates, Qrow has been steadily losing his drinking habit while Raven has started drinking more.

* RaisedByOrcs: Most of the hybrids were abducted and turned when they were young children, and some of them like Ruby and Weiss don't have any memory of their pre-Grimm Academy lives. Under Salem's and her minions' "care", they've been raised as little better than animals and savages: being fed raw carcasses, taught that positive emotions are bad and that it's their lifelong mission to bring humanity under Salem's heel, and being pitted against and expected to kill each-other until only the strongest handful of them are left standing to carry out Salem's will. Jaune is determined to save Ruby, Yang, Weiss and Blake by getting them in touch with their humanity again.

* SharedFamilyQuirks: Yang and [[MissingMom Raven]] have a lot of character traits in common with each-other, even more so than their canon selves due to Yang's extra angst and harsh upbringing under Salem's thumb. Yang and Raven both value strength, and they run away from their fears rather than face them, [[spoiler:as observed by Jaune in Chapter 39]].
