** Aresia runs into the Straw Hats instead of Diana after getting away from her bodyguards, so she and Wonder Woman never get to know each other personally.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: Daughter in this case. [[spoiler:After being released by the Joker from her prison in Themyscira, Aresia]] is reduced to be chained, drugged, and tortured with a shock collar so the madman can force her into preparing chemical warfare. However, the fact that [[spoiler:she's a radical misandrist who has been unapologetically responsible for nearly causing one of the largest genocides in history (and plans to do it again with the hope of eradicating all the male population even if women are killed as well in the process)]], makes it much harder to feel sorry for her. With even her fellow Amazons who were imprisoned with Aresia viewing her as a lost cause.

* SimpleMindedWisdom: In the 2nd Omake chapter, it takes Lois Lane a few minutes to realize just how profound [[IdiotHero Luffy's]] belief in what freedom is. When a girl who was sold into slavery was saved by the Straw Hats and then had her country freed from a military coup asks Lois why the other countries didn't do anything and they had to wait for pirates to save them. Luffy answers that the other nations weren't free to do so while they were. In other words, the Straw Hats see themselves free from obligations, law, political ramifications, etc.; thus were unhindered by bureaucratic red tape to do whatever they wished and damn the consequences.

** Yet after the events of The Savage Time, those like Batman and John are very cautious about approaching or interacting with the Straw Hats home planet. Especially when thinking about what other powerhouses could be living there that could actually give scars to those within the group like Zoro who’s deranged alternate self managed to actually wound the Man of Steel himself and actually give him a few permanent scars of his own. And while Flash mused they could try fixing the problems of the Straw Hats world, his teammates are honestly more concerned about opening a can of worms by doing so, but are nonetheless optimistic that could be possible.

* FamilyOfChoice: Obviously the Straw Hats, but increasingly the supervillains they have recruited. Volcana has practically become Maureen's surrogate big sister/mom while viewing Nami and Robin as the girl's aunts. Meanwhile Robin is nearly a surrogate mother or big sister to Ace once she joins as a pirate apprentice. The rest of the villains are also obviously becoming closer to each other and the pirates. Unfortunately, things get complicated when the Straw Hats reveal they are from another world and are trying to get home and admit they may not be bringing some or all of the villains with them since they will be heading straight into a massive war(the Onigashima raid). While they do promise to return afterward, and the villains can prove they are strong enough not to be liabilities if they want to come along, it still strained things for a while. Especially when the Deckhands got somewhat jealous Ace was automatically made a Pirate apprentice, but it was explained she already has enough potential to survive there and quite frankly has nowhere else to go. Yet the rest of the Royal Flush Gang have flat out said while they’re grateful to the pirates, they’re not going with them to their world, yet nonetheless the Straw Hats respect their decision.

* {{Foil}}: Superman and Monkey D. Luffy, the de facto leaders of their teams with the MagneticHero status. One is known as the [[NighInvulnerability Man of Steel]], and the other is [[RubberMan made of rubber]]. Superman is a humanoid alien whose incredible powers are scientifically explainable, while Luffy is purely human whose stretchy powers come from the supernatural Devil Fruit. Superman is ''the'' IdealHero, representing the best humanity can be, selfless and noble to a fault, and inspires others to do better and be better. Luffy, on the other hand, is a pirate with a singular goal in mind: to be the king of the pirates, and has no interest in being a hero despite genuinely liking heroes, and only goes on rescues at a whim(especially when it comes to his nakama). Also, he acts very much on his own and fights governments however he pleases while Superman is still bound by rules and to enforce the law while putting away any villain who breaks it. Meanwhile Luffy values freedom above all yet without hurting or taking away the freedom of others either, and doesn’t care for ramification's for his actions if it means saving a friend or doing the right thing despite not wanting to solve everyone’s problems.

* GlassCannon: The situation with Ace, which [[spoiler: her fellow]] Straw Hats aim to try and help her with. She has an incredible offensive technique, but her body is as slow and vulnerable as a regular teenager. Even Nami and Usopp(the physically weakest of the group) can take hits that would kill a normal human.

* GrayAndGreyMorality: The general crux of the pirates-superheroes conflict. The Straw Hats only want to go home but don't really care about collateral damage in spite of not going out of their way to be jerks either and even helped many people such as with the Cherry Blossom medical corporation, while the Justice League's strong desire to protect the people and enforce the law alongside what they believe is right sometimes leads them to dangerously dip into self-righteousness. Something the Straw Hats are quite aware of and are worried will make them become flat out tyrants like the World Government one day. Meanwhile the Justice League are becoming increasingly aware that the Straw Hats are not typical villains and learn they’re just trying to go back to their home. Yet despite sympathetic and clearly accepting the pirates lie in a gray moral line, still deem them as criminals given the crimes they’ve committed.
* GroinAttack: [[spoiler:Luffy, being his usual CombatPragmatist self, kicks a giant-sized Parasite right up in his "jewels" (or where they should be at least, it still works the same way). The attack is terrifyingly named the "Jewel Cleaver".]]

** In Chapter 8, Green Lantern goes to Wayne Enterprises to meet Bruce Wayne, who is generously working to create something like this. Usually, the Justice League tries to help rebuild, or Batman ponies up the cash, but that is not always feasible or affordable in the long-term; so, it was decided that a non-profit organization to provide insurance for people after super-powered battles would be created. But as John stated, this could only do so much in the face of the Straw Hats robberies and crime waves created as an unintended consequence.

** The Justice League have believed that the Straw Hats are a bunch of misfits having become cynical due to being wronged by those who follow Justice. While that is true to some extent, they are anything ''but'' cynics, as they are absolutely determined to fulfill their respective dreams, whether it be the world’s strongest swordsman, curing all diseases, becoming a brave warrior of the sea, finding the All Blue, discovering their worlds lost history, mapping the world’s seas most importantly, finding the One Piece and making Luffy the Pirate King.

* WorldOfBadass: Quite literally, Chopper finds few, if any, genetic differences between a human from Earth and a human from Gaea, meta-humans, other races like the Minks and Devil Fruit users excluded, and thus speculates that it's the herculean environment of their world itself that makes even people like Nami and Usopp have physiques that have Superman seeing them as non-powered physical powerhouses. A discovery that shocks both Jinbe and Brook, and makes it more apparent how dangerous it would be if their worlds were openly interacting together.

* YouDidntAsk: In Chapter 19, the Deckhands are indignant about Luffy letting [[spoiler:Ace (of the Royal Flush Gang)]] join the core crew as a Pirate Apprentice. Played for drama when Luffy answers with this trope; [[spoiler:Ace]] asked to join, they didn't. And they haven't asked since they learned the truth because as much as they've grown to love the Straw Hats, they're still apprehensive about the world they come from.

** The Justice League have believed that the Straw Hats are a bunch of misfits having become cynical due to being wronged by those who follow Justice. The first issue was that Cherry Blossom Medical was revolutionizing the medical world at lower costs than they could have changed, and while it being shut down was a temporary thing, the reopened company no longer had access to Chopper's genius medical knowledge. Leaving the company a shell of its former self and to simply mass produce or try improvising what medical innovations Chopper made. The second and more significant issue is that the way Batman handled the situation: using his customary paranoia and stealth tactics and subsequently being caught in the act, meant that the Straw Hats were guaranteed to be their enemies from this terrible first impression. Especially since Batman's actions confirmed their own fears that while the members of the Justice League were not necessarily bad people, they still resembled the Marines too much for comfort. WordOfGod states that if Superman had approached 'Sanji Kuroashi' openly instead of Batman, in all likelihood the pirates and heroes would be cooperating with each other from the beginning. Albeit roughly given the {{Blue-and-Orange Morality}} the Straw Hats follow by. But as it stands, that ship has long since sailed or at least will take a loooong time before this can be possible anymore.

* NormalFishInATinyPond: Back on Gaia, Nami and Usopp are admittedly physically quite weak for the New World, at least in terms of the monsters they have to deal with such as captain class fighters within Yonko crews. However on Earth, they are easily in the top percentile of conditioning. When Superman is studying Nami in the first chapter, he notes she is hiding a body that could put a Navy SEAL to shame.
