* SpellMyNameWithAnS: In a meta sense. The author seems to think Apple Bloom is spelled as one word, so it's unclear if Flowerbloom is also spelled as one word.

* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Zig-zagged with Nightmare Moon. On one hand, she's easily able to defeat Vinyl and Octavia and Twilight says she doesn't stand a chance against her, on the other, when it comes time to actually fight her, [[spoiler: she gets one-shotted by the Elements.]]

This fic takes on the great task to combine these 2 dynamic stories, and try not to make any of it too generic or too easy of a copy from the sources. While the general plot follows the Last Airbender, the author can get really dynamic in how she gets there, including changing some conventions that you wouldn't expect. It's a great read for fans of both series.

!!Like the series it was based on, it has 4 parts:

** Mai is split between "Flowerbloom" for the KnifeNut skills and Prince Blueblood as the love interest to the "Zuko" of the fic.

* FamousLastWords: [[spoiler:Discord's are “No no no! I won! I'm invincible! [[KilledMidSentence I can't--]]”]]

* HandicappedBadass: As in canon, Scootaloo can't fly, but she's still more than skilled to beat most ponies who can, and is as talented as any of Nightmare Moon elite flying team, the Shadowbolts.

** Sweetie Belle is definitely sadistic and psychotic, but due to her only being partially in control of her actions due to discord's corruption, she actually is a Type I and II.
** Flowerbloom and Scootaloo are both types IV, being nice to the troops, concerned over sweetie belle's mean streaks, and really only supporting her because they're her childhood friends.

* AlasPoorVillain: In-universe: Rarity and Fluttershy express pity over [[spoiler: Sombra's death]] even after it's made clear [[spoiler: there's nothing left of the kind, good stallion he once was.]]

* AscendedExtra: Trixie. She initially seems like she's just a [[ArcVillain Zhao]] {{Expy}}, but [[spoiler: Discord turns her into his DragonInChief.]]

** In addition to the above, Discord also gets what he wants. He frees himself and quickly manages to TakeOverTheWorld and gets rid of everyone who is a threat to him. But, like Trixie, when he does this, things start falling apart for him. In the end, he turns out to share the same FatalFlaw as his canon counterpart -overconfidence and his own pride getting in the way of his judgement- [[spoiler: and he gets KilledOffForReal by the Elements of Harmony.]]

* BigNo: Like her canon couterpart, Nightmare Moon lets one out [[spoiler: right before she's blasted by the Elements of Harmony.]]

** Spike surprisingly has several different roles he takes on. He's Appa (The Avatar's closest companion and goes missing in book 2), Momo (a leftover from the avatar's older days, found at one of her older hangouts, and left out of the final battle due to his smaller size), and he even has a little bit of Toph and Iroh as well (being "zuko's" conscience and advocate from time to time).

* DarkIsNotEvil: The Great Dragon seems scary at first, but he was only angry Rainbow attacked him, and when he calms down he apologizes and becomes a firm ally to Twilight and her friends. It's even stated that he's an ally of the Avatar in general and [[spoiler: he dies making a HeroicSacrifice!]]

* EvilPlan: Discord: "So, you think by sealing me away, I will be stopped, do you? Well, I will use my corruption, a piece of my essence to corrupt one of the elements of harmony, and so destroy the current avatar and lead the water nation to a war with the whole world. Then, by my influence, we'll wipe out the fire tribes and the dragons to secure my position. When the avatar returns, I'll take one of the "chapter specific villains" [[spoiler: Trixie]], and use her as my special agent in the mortal plain to act under everyone's noses. To that end, I'll use her to steal the alicorn amulet, and when Spike [[spoiler: gets generosity put into him]], I'll steal him away when nobody's looking, and give him to rarity. While this could be seen as giving away the one thing that can hurt me, I'll corrupt the element while it's in [[spoiler: spike]] and vulnerable, so that when it's returned to Rarity, I can use it whenever I want. Then, I'll use trixie to stall Rarity during [[spoiler: The summer sun celebration]] to ensure the heroes don't win. Then I'll send my creature of darkness, [[[spoiler: Sombra]] to destroy the elements. If he fails, [[XanatosGambit it doesn't matter that much. Rarity will still be integrated into the group, and moving towards releasing me.]] Then when Trixie tips her hand, I'll use my corruption in Rarity to [[spoiler: open my prison and throw off their aim.]] [[BlatantLies It's that simple]]."

* FamousLastWords: [[spoiler:Discord's are “No no no! I won! I'm invincible! [[KilledMidSentence I can't--”.]]]]

* {{Foil}}: Rainbow Dash and AJ are both very similar in temperament, but they both hate being in the opposite of their element. (AJ hates flying, Rainbow hates being underground)

** And in a shocking turn of events, during the summer sun celebration, [[spoiler: Sweetie Belle gets Discord's corruption purged from her, and actually softens up,]] culminating with her turning against Nightmare Moon during the attack on manehatten.
* HeelFaceDoorSlam: Sweetie puts the brakes on Rarity's redemption due to her amplifying the darkness in her heart (for now).
* HeroicBSOD: While different members have this in parts, Twilight has this happen several times. First was seeing the peasants broken from the Flim Flam brothers. Then there was her finding out the firebenders were going to be attacked by the water nation IN the everfree forest. Next was right after she woke up after she died. Finally, there was her mental state after she found out the great dragon [[spoiler: Died defending manehatten]]. That last one was the worst, and it almost lead to her death when the group [[spoiler: lead a 2nd attack of the water nation]].

* JerkassGenie: [[spoiler: Discord did indeed give all the powers of an alicorn to Trixie.]] However he didn't teach her how to use them, so she had to figure it out on her own.

* [[LukeIAmYourFather Applejack, she is your sister]]: An In-Universe example. And AJ actually denies it at first when she hears it from her brother. However, when she meets her in person, she sees she's too much like her mother, and knows too many small details, and thus holds her close saying that she's so glad to have her sister back.

* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler: Blueblood]]. Despite losing a horn in an explosion, [[spoiler: he]] was found and rescued by Coco.

* RealityWarper: Discord. He managed to corrupt the avatar world in the past, and then in the present, when he [[spoiler: gets out, he starts warping the entire world with little effort, from the ponies to the land.]]

* TheRedBaron: In this story, Nightmare Moon is just a title given whoever is in charge of the Water Nation at the time — her real name is Luna. After the story, Rarity has it changed to Water Lord, presumably to avoid bad memories.

*** Episode 30: As befitting the end of WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender and its book 2, Sweetie's endgame is played into motion. Phillydelpia and then the world falls to the water nation. Team Avatar escapes with most of their allies, but [[spoiler: Sweetie Belle skewers Twilight with poisoned water, and Celestia lets herself be captured in order to give team avatar harmony time to escape.]] Meanwhile, Canterlot receives a special gift from "D": [[spoiler: Spike with the element of generosity still in his body]]. And on top of that, there's hints that Flowerbloom might be suspecting that the earth bender she's been fighting isn't what she thought she was.

*** Episode 18 & 19: In teaching Rarity poison bending, Sweetie tries to get Rarity mad at a common servant. Rarity promptly [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech calls sweetie and her nation by extension on their actions]]. When sweetie threatens spike in retaliation, and reveals that she killed blueblood to try and get rarity all to herself, Rarity beats sweetie near to death, and finally seeing her unrepentant gives rarity the resolve to finally begin her long road to redemption.
*** Episode 24: the side quests of flowerbloom and scootaloo finally come into focus. Nightmare Moon granted them permission to leave Canterlot so as to kill them and remove more prominent non-unicorns from the nation. Scootaloo though is saved by the rebels who destroy the boiling rock prison, saving the fire benders. Flowerbloom meanwhile is taken to a new mountain. A mountain with Baby Dragons!

*** Episode 40: [[spoiler: blueblood]] is alive!

*** Episode 48: Mistakenly called The End, Team Avatar Harmony defeats Nightmare Moon with little fanfare, purifying her. However, then a chain of foreshadowed events comes falling down, changing the the story [[NothingIsTheSameAnymore FOREVER]]! [[spoiler: Trixie is alive, and she stole the alicorn amulet when they went looking for it. Said amulet would've saved Fluttershy's bending at the fall of Phillydelphia, and then when they try to blast trixie with the elements, some kind of corruption affects Rarity's element, causing them to hit the stone behind trixie rather than her.]] All these ultimately means only the most important event happens. [[spoiler: Discord is free once more.]]

*** Chapter 1: The elements seem to blast [[spoiler: discord]], but in the process, only Twilight escapes his collapsing magic.

*** Chapter 4: We find out the story behind what happened in the real world: When team avatar harmony used the elements of harmony, discord rebounded them back on them, turning them all to stone. Meanwhile, Twilight rescues spike and the cutie mark crusaders, making their escape to find the other elements and save the world from [[spoiler: discord's WorldOfChaos]].

** [[DefiedTrope The war]] [[TheMasquerade affects us all]].

* BigBad: Nightmare Moon, queen of the water nation.

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler: Celestia, thanks to Discord.]]

* EvilVirtues: Sweetie Belle might be partially insane thanks to discord's influence, but she does have several virtues: Love for her Sister, Loyalty to her friends, Hard Work for getting what she wants, Determination to accomplish her goals, and Balanced. The last virtue is because she isn't as interested in favoring unicorns like a lot of the water nation, and instead choosing her captains by ability.

* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Littlewing, Shadow, Sombra.]]

* {{Irony}}: You'd think [[PowerOfTheSun Celestia]] would be a fire bender, but nope! She's water bender! [[spoiler: Then Discord ''makes'' her a fire bender.]]

* ManipulativeBastard: Sweetie Belle.

* UnexpectedCharacter: Who expected [[spoiler: King Sombra]] to be Combustion Man and [[spoiler: Ursa]]?

* TheBadGuyWins: In a sense, Trixie gets everything she wants and gets off scott free. She manages to capture the avatar, gets the Alicorn Amulet, tames several spirits, gains incredible bending abilities thanks to Discord, [[spoiler: and in the sequel she even gets her revenge on Twilight.]] The ''only'' time she ever failed was when she tried to capture Cloudsdale and even then it was a NearVillainVictory! It's only after she does this that things start falling apart for her, Discord takes away most of her bending and teleports her away to who knows where, and [[spoiler: she ends up stranded in the Spirit World, dying alone and forgotten by everyone except Silver Spoon and Twilight.]]

* BittersweetEnding: Team Avatar Harmony was victorious, stopped the fire nation, and ended the madness of [[spoiler: Discord]], actually killing [[spoiler: him]] to ensure that their evil can never be brought forth again. However, the scars of the fic run deep, extending even to the bearers because [[spoiler: Their connection to the elements of harmony seems to have been severed permanently for this generation.]] Furthermore, [[spoiler: Rainbow Dash's eyesight and Fluttershy's bending was never restored in full, forcing them to live adjusted dreams to what they originally thought.]] But, each of the bearers as they go their separate ways, resolve to help restore the world into something better now that the worst is over.

* GoodAllAlong: [[spoiler: Hornclipper, who turned out to be a member of LaResitance all along.]]

* TheBadGuyWins: In a sense, Trixie gets everything she wants and gets off scott free. ** In the show, the Alicorn Amulet has an ArtifactOfDoom that gives the wielder incredible magic powers at the cost of their sanity. Here, however, not only does it NOT slowly drive the user insane, but it's presented as just a useful tool for the Avatar.
** In WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender, bloodbending is something exclusively used by villains. (Katara was the only exception but even then she once used it to hurt someone) Here, it's presented as the GoodCounterpart to poison bending.(that is to say, the best way to counter it) Celestia even says it's very difficult to use on another person.

** In addition to the above, Discord also gets what he wants. He frees himself and quickly manages to TakeOverTheWorld and gets rid of everyone who is a threat to him.
