* TimeTravel: Is technically how the entire fic's plot is happening: due to Barry's [[WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueTheFlashpointParadox previous]] [[WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueDarkApokolipsWar escapades]] involving travelling through time, he somehow created the Sonic "timeline", and is just about as confused about it as half the readers probably are. [[spoiler:Mephiles also both implies and shows to Barry that he has a more precise and much less "sloppy" way of traversing through time.]]

Added DiffLines:

* TheWrongfulHeirToTheThrone: Had it not been for Eggman and [[spoiler: Metal Sonic]], Lady Mairghread would have been this considering she already had the sheer corruption and behind-the-scenes rule down pat, as if already being [[Main/RegentForLife the regent]] wasn't enough.

* TooDumbToLive: Lady Mairghread and her cohorts, considering they would have caused [[Main/ApocolypseHow the end]] [[Main/BadFuture of the world]] if Elise ever cried - and she came quite close at times, but as if that wasn't bad enough Mairie ultimately cancels her alliance with Eggman just because the latter wanted a refund. She does this while Eggman has her boat surrounded by his armed and armored robots. [[Main/NeckSnap It does not end well for her]].

** Lady Mairghread "Mairie" Mcloch in Chapter 6, who spends a good portion of the chapter being revealed as an antagonist to Elise, even having one of Elise's ladies-in-waiting tortured just for standing up to her and musing about having her men assassinate lower class citizens. Thanks to [[spoiler:Metal Sonic]] her "screen-time" gets cut rather short.

Added DiffLines:

* NeckSnap: How Aunt "Mairie" is removed from the mortal coil at the end of Chapter 6.

Added DiffLines:

* TakeThat: Lady Mairghread and her cohorts Christina, Ernesto "Ernie" and Matteo "Matt" all take their first names from the writers & producers of ''Apokolips War''. None of these characters are nice people, nor do they meet nice fates.

Added DiffLines:

* DarkerAndEdgier: By Sonic standards, certainly. By DCAMU standards, it's about on par with the movies. Things start out relatively light-hearted, until [[Main/BigBad Mephiles]] shows up in Chapter 3. In Chapter 4 and 5, Barry's PTSD kicks in, resulting in vivid hallucinations. [[spoiler:Of charred corpses of his lost loved ones and friends from the previous timeline, as well as the Iblis minion demons as the Paradooms.]]

* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: The early parts of Sonic, Silver and Shadow's storylines appear to be going on like this, with Barry being bluntly told about the event of Sonic fighting Silver, for instance. Justified since there's not much point in novelizing a mostly unchanged event from the game, and because Barry does not begin the fic with his powers so wouldn't be able to do a whole lot to change things anyway.

* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: The early parts of Sonic, Silver and Sonic & Shadow's storylines appear up to be going on like this, with Crisis City/Flame Core and as of Chapter 5 the majority of Silver's storyline essentially are happening off-screen, due to Barry being bluntly powerless until the end of Chapter 4 and thus unable to participate in them. Key example is in Chapter 3, when Barry is told about the event of Sonic fighting Silver, for instance. Justified since there's not much point in novelizing a mostly unchanged event from the game, and because Barry does not begin the fic Sonic's fight with his powers so wouldn't be able to do a whole lot to change things anyway.Silver occurring, though the fight itself is not elaborated on in detail.

**
Mephiles appears is shown to exhibit have more powerful powrerful time-related powers than in his original appearance, being able to conjure up that he can present visions of even the previously thought erased timeline; "erased" Apokolips War timeline, and it is implied he can theoretically travel to it as well. He also seemingly having seems to have some type of control over shadows.shadows.
** Shadow is described as being more stronger than his typical gameplay-limited depiction as well, with his punches being compared in Chapter 5 to Superman's own.
