* CrypticBackgroundReference: Dino Attack RPG takes place in 2010 and was first started in 2005. Since the details of what would happen over the next five years (in both official LEGO story and in Website/BZPower LEGO RPG story) could not be predicted, [=PeabodySam=] seized the opportunity to make Cryptic Background References regarding the fates of his ''Roleplay/AlphaTeamMissionDeepFreezeRPG'' characters, such as the death of Rebel Drone and the mysterious disappearance of Frozeen. Although some of this background information was intended to be explained by a later Alpha Team RPG (likely ''Ogel's Last Stand''), even in 2012 many questions about what exactly happened in this six-year span between ''Alpha Team RPG'' and ''Dino Attack RPG'' remain unanswered.

* AdaptationExpansion: [[Toys/LEGODinoAttack The original LEGO theme]] had a [[ExcusePlot very simple plot]]: mutant dinosaurs are attacking the city, and four guys are trying to stop them. However, the ''Dino Attack RPG'' revealed that this has happened all over the world, bringing in other LEGO-themed locations and showing the impact that these events have had on them. The Dino Attack Team of the original theme consisted of four men, but the RPG has shown that it is actually much larger and there are women helping out. It's also explained what happened to the citizens of the various places that have been invaded (an issue completely ignored in the original line), and there is even some background as to why the heck all this is happening in the first place.
* AdaptationExplanationExtrication: In the original RPG, it's explained that the villains escaped their prison cells in the Dino Island Laboratory by using Sam Sinister's hook to pick the lock. Since the Director's Cut makes this impossible (the cells now use energy force fields instead of conventional locks), no explanation is provided for how the villains escape, with Brickster simply [[HandWave hand-waving]] it by pointing out that it wasn't his first prison break.
* AdaptationNameChange: The Director's Cut enforces the OneSteveLimit by changing the names of characters. Examples include the first Maw (Sharptooth), the first Snake (Snake of Spades), the first Andrew (Andrew Yellowstone), the second Vex (Vax), the first Wing (Wingman), the first Tom (Tomson), and the third Phantom (R-Phantom). It also changes the names of the Second Headquarters Squad (except for Medic) and Michelle Glados in order to distance them from their [[VideoGame/TeamFortress2 respective]] [[VideoGame/{{Portal}} inspiration]].
* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: The relationship of Frozeen and Shannon Grimton was significantly reworked in the Director's Cut due to [=PeabodySam=]'s criticisms of how it was written in the original RPG. Most notably, while the original RPG heavily implied that they would see a RelationshipUpgrade after the war and become an OfficialCouple, the Director's Cut makes it explicitly clear that Frozeen DidNotGetTheGirl and they remain JustFriends.

* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: Several characters appear earlier in the Director's Cut than in the original RPG, including:
** Because several Expanded Universe stories are now directly incorporated into the story, any characters included before their RPG debut now make earlier appearances. This includes Frank Einstein (''Rex's Awakening''), Walker, Adventure, Trouble (''First Assignment''), Roger Remous, Amanda Claw (''Dear Sister''), Ata, Semick, Bluetooth, Scout, Pharisee (''The Madness of Agent Zero''), Fate, and Colonel (''Time and Place'').
** Engineer appears during the Kotua crisis (filling in the role originally played by Banchito), predating his debut during the LEGO Island story arc.
** A group of nondescript XERRD scientists, seen early in the Kotua crisis, are replaced with early cameos by Dr. Strangebrick, Carolyne Provencal, and Dr. Rex. Although revealed to be the case via retcons, another generic XERRD scientist during the Dino Island Laboratory story arc is now outright confirmed to be Matthew Cyrista, appearing long before his proper debut as Dr. Cyber in the Adventurers' Island story arc. Michelle Glados also makes an appearance during the Dino Island story arc.
** Rex's tamed Mutant T-Rex, Maw, originally did not appear until after the Kotua crisis ended. He is now identified as one of the T-Rex hatchlings that Rex captures at the very beginning of the RPG.
** The mutant dragon that Rev and Sereve tried to capture is now a Maelstrom Dragon. Similarly, the mutant spider that attacked Nick Lightning is now a Dark Spiderling. Both of these give early appearances to Stromlings.
** Hacker briefly appears much earlier than his debut in the Adventurers' Island story arc, making a cameo as one of the agents working under Magma's command.

to:

* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: AdaptationalDiversity:
** ''Toys/LEGODinoAttack'' only has a single female character, Dr. Nicole Soscia, whose only "appearance" is a bit of dialogue in one of the online stories; otherwise, [[ChromosomeCasting the toyline itself consists entirely of male characters]]. In contrast, ''Dino Attack RPG'' has a significantly larger number of female characters. There are also a number of characters in the RPG who are explicitly minorities in race, religion, sexuality, or gender identity, none of which are touched upon in the toyline.
** The original release of ''Dino Attack: Legacy'' had only a single female character, Dr. Michelle Glados, who appears briefly in the background of one scene; Tex also makes a cameo on a movie poster but otherwise does not appear in-person... err, in-dinosaur. The remastered version addresses this by adding Zenna, Amanda Claw, Elizabeth Winsor, Tex (now given a full appearance), the alpha female T-Rex, Kat, Minerva Fabello, Shock, Aravis, and Pterisa, giving significantly more female representation.

** In the original RPG, Semick was not introduced until the LEGO Island story arc, and Zachary Virchaus was not introduced until the Adventurers' Island story arc. In ''Dino Attack: Legacy'', Semick appears in the Goo Caverns and Zachary Virchaus appears on LEGO Island.
** In the original version of ''Dino Attack: Legacy'', Dr. Cyborg did not appear until the Maelstrom Temple scene. He appears earlier in the remastered version, which adds an earlier scene of Dr. Cyborg sending Cyrista's Bane to fight Dr. Inferno.

* AdaptationDistillation: Since ''Dino Attack: Legacy'' condenses a lengthy RPG into a 3-4 minute animation, several scenes were combined:
** In the original RPG, Villains Headquarters rescues Rex from Chaos, and Anti-Kotua later defeats Alpha Chaos by freezing it with the ''Anti-Voltage''[='=]s freezer beam. In ''Legacy'', Villains Headquarters defeats Perfect Chaos (unintentionally saving Rex in the process) by freezing it with an Ice Orb.
** The ''Legacy'' scene in the XERRD Laboratory is meant to be a combination of the LEGO Island XERRD Laboratory and the Adventurers' Island XERRD Fortress from the original RPG. The Teleport Pad and (in the remastered version) Ata are from LEGO Island, while Wallace Bishop, Michelle Glados, Walter Breen, and the Hybrid are from Adventurers' Island.
** In the original RPG, Fullmetal/Tex and Dr. Cyborg/Cyrista's Bane never share a scene together, but both were involved in separate battles against Dr. Inferno. Therefore, in the remastered version of ''Legacy'', Fullmetal and Dr. Cyborg team up to send Tex and Cyrista's Bane into battle against Dr. Inferno's robot mech.
** In the original RPG, Rotor goes with Rex to the Temple of Creation while Dust leads Dr. Cyborg and Katerina Schattenberg to the Temple of Hotep III. In ''Legacy'', the two temples are combined into a single depiction of a Maelstrom Temple, and therefore Rotor is leading Dust, Dr. Cyborg, and (in the remastered verison) Kat in battling Stromling Explorers and Stromling Islanders.

* AdaptedOut: Because Jax only appears in one incomplete sentence of the downloadable archive, his archived appearance is not included in the Director's Cut.

** Zenna, Amanda Claw, Elizabeth Winsor, Tex (who originally just had TheCameo), the alpha female T-Rex, Kat, Minerva Fabello, Shock, Aravis, and Pterisa were added to the remastered version of ''Dino Attack: Legacy'' to give greater female representation, considering that the original version only had Dr. Michelle Glados.

* TheAllConcealingI: ''Rex's Awakening'' is one of the few Expanded Universe stories written in first-person. This serves a number of purposes, most significantly the fact that Rex has no memory, no identity, and [[NeverGivenAName not even a name]].

* AlternatePersonalityPunishment: The premise of ''Because Of You'' is about [[spoiler:Talia Kaahs]] going back in time to assassinate Dr. Rex in multiple {{Alternate Timeline}}s, punishing him for his crimes in the primary timeline. An extreme version of this is discussed in the third chapter, when the time traveler threatens to kill every version of Dr. Rex in every reality if his Timeline 1958-D AlternateSelf commits the same crimes.

* AMFMCharacterization: In ''Because Of You'', Talia Kaahs loves Music/TheBeatles and can't wait to hear how their music will evolve, while George Ogel can't get into rock & roll and still considers jazz to be the finest form of modern music. This disconnect hints at the fact that [[spoiler:Timeline 1958-B's George Ogel is from the past while Talia Kaahs is from the present day]].

* AreYouSureYouWantToDoThat: While playing ''Disasters & Dinosaurs'', Nate tries to have his character Snake sneak up on Chaos and backstab it. Vinnie reiterates that Snake is about to backstab a giant BlobMonster, giving Nate the opportunity to reconsider his plan before putting it into action.

* BrickJoke: Due to AdaptationalEarlyAppearance, the Director's Cut introduces Anju early in Act 1 and Kafei late in Act 2. They eventually have a WartimeWedding in Act 8. For any fans of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask'' who is familiar with their namesake, their wedding ends up feeling like a punchline to a joke set up six acts earlier.

* CharacterNameAlias: No, Dino Attack agent Batman isn't actually Franchise/{{Batman}}. He's just a big fan of Batman and wanted to claim it as his codename before anyone else did.

* EarlyAdaptationWeirdness: ''Dino Attack RPG'' began in July 2005 and was based on some early information of ''Toys/LEGODinoAttack''. Most notably, the ATV is named "Steel Sprinter" (as in various early catalogs and magazines) instead of "Street Sprinter", and the Dino Attack begins in April (based on an early ''LEGO Brickmaster Magazine'' preview) instead of August-September (based upon a later ''LEGO Magazine'' comic). Since the online story materials were not yet available, the Mutant Dinos were initially depicted without any special powers, and Shadow (instead of Specs) was initially assumed to be Dino Attack Team's leader.
* EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference: In the original version of ''Dino Attack: Legacy'', Dr. Rex had stubble and a facial scar just like Rex; Trouble looked indistinguishable from other Mutant Lizards since he didn't have any scars; and Finister and Frickster both looked about the same age as their present-day selves. These were updated in the GeorgeLucasAlteredVersion to reflect updates to character designs made since the original animation.

There are explicit references to the deaths of major characters, and finally concluding with the entire planet being blown up and an explicit statement that "[[KillEmAll "[[EverybodyDiesEnding there were no survivors]]".

** The Director's Cut addresses several {{Plot Hole}}s in the reveal of Silencia Venomosa's identity. In the original RPG, it is unexplained why no XERRD scientists recognized Rex in his PaperThinDisguise (given that they should certainly be familiar with Dr. Rex's face and voice), or why Amanda would willingly out herself as Venomosa in front of Reptile and other Dino Attack agents. In the Director's Cut, Rex is [[ClarkKenting wearing lab goggles and a surgical mask to hide his face]] (and even then, it's not a perfect disguise and Dr. Gladys sees right through it), and Amanda was counting on Reptile and the other agents believing that she was simply lying about being Venomosa to intimidate Dr. Gladys.
