Integer is an old friend of Calculus, a yellow humanoid {{Fembot}} with two large antennae on her head. Deeply nerdy and obsessed with specimen collection, Integer is every bit as inquisitive about the world around her as Calculus is, but whereas Calculus is always wary of danger, Integer always gets so engrossed in anything that fascinates her that she is massively oblivious to her surroundings. And while she has a tendency to treat anything that interests her as a mere scientific specimen, Integer is chirpy and sweet. She is particularly fascinated by Earth and its inhabitants.

!! Hydraulics

Hydraulics is an aspiring lawman, a short, black, semi-humanoid robot with tank treads, a mushroom-shaped head, and pistons in his neck and limbs that allow him to increase his height. Hydraulics is a hardcore RulesLawyer, fiercely dedicated to law and order and seeing them as the ultimate force of good. Because of his vehement dedication to rules, he frequently butts heads with Roger, whose adventurous attitude he sees as careless. Nonetheless, Hydraulics greatly respects Roger's ability to do good deeds; he just wishes Roger would do so in a more law-abiding manner.

!! Tribbs Rilmur

Tribbs is a pickpocket and counterfeiter, a small, gray-furred alien resembling a cat mixed with a lemur. Born in the slums of the WretchedHive city ship known as Aquila City, Tribbs has lived her whole life trusting and caring for nobody but herself, consequently becoming extremely bitter, cynical, and sarcastic despite being only 8 years old. A regular at Styleen's shelter, Tribbs conflicts with Roger just as often as she allies with him, having an extensive knowledge of Cosmic City's nooks and crannies while also regularly causing trouble through her many shady activities.

!! Dilzin Syranak

Dilzin is a popular teen influencer, a tall, thin, blue-skinned alien with a bird-like head atop of a long neck and with a long horn-like crest growing from the back of her skull, native to the verdant low-gravity planet of Galvena. Trendy and peppy, Dilzin uses her influence to conduct charity work across the Known Universe and spread positivity, although her lavish urban lifestyle does make her rather airheaded and sometimes out-of-touch. She has a particular interest in Roger, seeing YEAR-GASP as a great tool for social media publicity and often roping him into her work.

!! Zanta Mobulon

Zanta is Roger's self-proclaimed rival, a gray-skinned alien resembling a hairless, noseless human with fleshy fins on his cheeks (like those of a manta ray) and a long tendril at the back of his head like a ponytail, native to Halua 4, an ultra-high-tech world of tropical archipelagos. Zanta's savviness with technology is only matched by his the fragility of his enormous ego, and he has a constant need to prove himself against Roger, whom he views as "inferior" for his species' "primitiveness". For the same reasons, he is perplexed by Voona and Calculus' friendship with him.

[[folder:Cosmic City, GASP, and the Known Universe]]

* Nicknamed the Capital of the Universe, Cosmic City is the central hub of GASP. It is the sole planet of the Zed System, covered by a sprawling, high advanced metropolis of unimaginable richness.
* Cosmic City is populated by trillions of aliens and robots from across the Known Universe. While most of the aliens are migrants, the vast majority of the robot population are natively constructed.
* Cosmic City was once an empty Moon-like world, but GASP chose it as their capital as its location was deemed secure and neutral. It became the vibrant planet it is today after advanced terraforming.
* Cosmic City is very similar to Earth, except with an indigo-violet sky (due to its artificially engineered climate and atmosphere) and eight moons hosting landfills, prisons, starship bases, theme parks, and more.
* GASP is the most powerful political organization in the Known Universe, a cooperative interstellar union that guides itself on peace, progress, equity, justice, and liberty. Think the Federation from ''Star Trek''.
* GASP has many systems, planets, and species in its ranks, but it also regularly invites new worlds into its fold. These worlds are typically spacefaring societies, but they are not mandated to join or stay in GASP.
* GASP is headed by a President who runs for one 10-year term and lives on Cosmic City, where GASP gathers. Cosmic City, however, is run by a bureaucracy of city administrators, rather than GASP itself.
* GASP science/technology (especially robotics) is amalgamated and shared between members. GASP also has the Known Universe's largest starfleet, the Grand Galactic Fleet, used for exploration and self-defense.
* The Known Universe is the broader setting GASP is part of and the term used by GASP for all areas of space known to it. GASP scientists estimate that the Known Universe makes up 5% of the cosmos.
* Only 30% of the Known Universe is under GASP; the rest is uninhabited, controlled by other powers, or home to uncontacted species. Earth is at its very edge, on the other side of a vast stretch of empty space.

!! Tropes of the series:

* AlienNonInterferenceClause: GASP has this rule for planets that are too "primitive" to join the organization or have no interest in joining it. However, this doesn't forbid these worlds from interacting with each other, resulting in many aliens from planets without space travel ending up in GASP worlds in some other way.
* AliensSpeakingEnglish: The official language of GASP is Galactic Standard, a universal language designed to be easy for most species to learn and speak. By sheer coincidence, it is exactly the same as English.
* AndroidsArePeopleToo: Robots in this setting are considered a sapient species in GASP. There are non-sentient robots in the setting too, but those are extremely primitive models from before robots gained sapience that have somehow lasted until the present.
* BizarreAlienBiology: Appears often, occasionally with comedic intent.
* BountyHunter: Wouldn't be a sci-fi adventure series without some of these guys. GASP law forbids bounty hunting, but that doesn't stop some from taking it up anyway, usually in the service of galactic crime syndicates.
* CityOfAdventure: Cosmic City. When you're dealing with a planet-sprawling metropolis populated by trillions of aliens and robots from across the Known Universe, it's bound to be this.
* CityPlanet: Cosmic City itself. A lot of the problems that come with such a planet are explained by the fact that it is in fact artificially terraformed.
* CoolStarship: The setting is full of these, ranging from tiny one-man saucers to enormous city-ships.
* TheEmpire: A major part of the setting's backstory is GASP's decades-long war against one, which essentially serves as the evil opposite of GASP. GASP was ultimately victorious, but the sheer horribleness of the conflict makes it also one of the darkest chapters of GASP history (including the only time in GASP history Cosmic City itself was directly attacked).
* FasterThanLightTravel: The setting's version is called Hyperwarp Travel, which takes the spaceship though a wormhole that acts as a shortcut. For instance, Hyperwarp Travel would allow one to go from Earth to Pluto in half an hour, or from one end of the Milky Way to another in less than a month.
* TheFederation: GASP, being inspired heavily by ''Star Trek''[='=]s Federation. It has existed for over 10 thousand years and is still going strong.
* HumanoidAliens: Much like in ''Star Wars'', most (but not all) of the aliens have this appearance. In fact, all of the main alien characters have a humanoid body shape.
* InsignificantLittleBluePlanet: Earth was this for GASP until it was admitted into the organization, being seen as a primitive world in an isolated region of the universe. However, it has become the subject of much discussion after it became the first world below GASP's technology level requirements to be invited into the organization as a result of GASP learning several of its member worlds already had secret knowledge of it and had secretly violated GASP law by interfering with it through abductions, infiltrations, and various other activities (that became the basis of many alien encounters on Earth).
* InterspeciesRomance: A little bit here and there. However, interspecies couples are physically incapable of having children naturally.
* LawOfAlienNames: All the aliens have these kinds of unusual names.
* LoadsAndLoadsOfRaces: There are individuals of countless alien species inhabiting Cosmic City, so naturally, this is present.
* MegaCorp: As per many sci-fi works, a few exist in the Known Universe. The most significant one is GASP Robotics, which manufactures Cosmic City's robot populace.
* PlanetOfHats: As a sci-fi series with an expansive setting, this trope pops up often, sometimes for comedic purposes.
* RaygunGothic: The series has elements of this.
* RoboFamily: Robot families are a thing in the setting, since they are fully sapient beings here. When two robots marry each other, they can order a child to be constructed for them by GASP Robotics.
* RobotNames: The robots in this setting all have a series of letters and/or numbers as their "personal name", as well as a name they use in public. Their public name is usually a word related to math, machinery, electronics, or something appropriate to their character.
* RubberForeheadAliens: A number of aliens have this appearance, although they're not as common as the less human ones.
* SciFiKitchenSink: Due to the sheer vastness of the Known Universe and the countless opportunities for adventures it has to offer, there are elements of this under the general SpaceOpera and RaygunGothic style of the series.
* SingleBiomePlanet: A lot of such places are visited in the series, with Cosmic City itself also being example (albeit justified by advanced terraforming).
* SpaceOpera: The series has elements of this as part of its ''Star Wars''-inspired sci-fi setting.
* SpacePirate: They exist in the setting and are treated a lot like sea pirates.
* StarfishAliens: There are plenty of aliens on Cosmic City with these kinds of appearances.
* TechnologyUplift: GASP does this with any new planet that enters the organization by sharing the science and technology it has developed and acquired prior with the new planet in exchange for sharing their science and technology with the rest of GASP.
* TinCanRobot: Many (but not all) of the setting's robots have this appearance.
* TransplantedHumans: A minority exist scattered across the Known Universe, the descendants of alien abductees.

Pranter is a former crew member of Queen Neb, and thus an old adventuring buddy of Gaitha and Zemir, a pot-bellied, blue-skinned alien with red compound eyes, insect-like antennae, and a trunk originating from the rainy world of Taruba. Pranter was the lovable scoundrel of the group, a friendly, loyal, charismatic, and honorable fellow with tons of shady connections and knowledge of the criminal underworld. These days, he runs a small inn and cantina for intergalactic travelers and spaceship pilots called Spaceman's Stop on a space station orbiting Cosmic City.

Tholl is another ex-member of Gaitha and Zemir's adventuring crew, a hulking white-furred alien with huge tusks on a reptilian snout, six eyes (two huge, four tiny), and spikes running down his back and long, scaly tail originating from the high-gravity ice planet of Dulgara. Tholl is a warrior long ago exiled from his home planet for an unknown dishonor, although his cold and stoic nature means he rarely speaks as to what happened (or about much else for that matter). Today, he runs an outdoorsman club for citizens of Cosmic City seeking activities on less urban worlds.

Kerbal is another ex-member of Queen Neb's crew, an orange alien with a squid-like beak, fins for ears, tentacles for limbs, and a single eye on a lure-like stalk, native to the depths of the ocean planet Daquarri 8. Deeply neurotic and constantly on edge, Kerbal was the team's oddball, his numerous eccentricities being compensated for by his great selflessness and his many unusual abilities that helped him survive the dangers of his deep-sea home. He currently works as a deliveryman, travelling across Cosmic City, and sometimes to other worlds, to transfer all kinds of goods.

Styleen is the last (but not least) member of Gaitha and Zemir's old gang, a small, yellow, ant-like alien with no mouth, big black eyes, and large antennae from the planet Thurisia. Like all beings from Thurisia, Styleen has psychic powers, namely telepathy, being TheEmpath, and minor telekinetic and clairvoyant abilities. Lacking a gender in the human sense, they are a gentle, pacifistic individual, although prone to invading others' personal space. They presently run a shelter that provides refuge and rehabilitation for those with nowhere to go or no one turn to.

Glorgo is Gaitha and Zemir's archnemesis from their adventuring days, a green jellyfish-like LivingGasbag with multiple eyes and tentacles and a gelatinous, semi-translucent body from the gas giant Jorvon 6. Formerly the Known Universe's most wanted criminal mastermind, Glorgo's schemes were ultimately foiled by Queen Neb's crew, but he has recently been released from prison. Hungry for vengeance, Glorgo is FauxAffablyEvil at its finest - his great patience and soft-spoken speech belying his unimaginable sadism and natural ability to intimidate others with ease.

Karak is Glorgo's faithful aide, a reptilian alien resembling a dwarfish, green-scaled, humanoid caiman-chameleon mix originating from Codranis, a deadly world of primordial jungles and active volcanoes. Having been released from prison alongside Glorgo, Karak was the advisor and second-in-command of his criminal endeavours. He possesses a quick temper and a cruel sense of humor, being as unsubtly vicious to Glorgo's henchmen as he is to his enemies. While not even Glorgo's underlings like him, Glorgo is very fond of Karak, and the two share a surprisingly strong friendship.

On Cosmic City, Roger lives under the guardianship of the experienced and knowledgeable [[InterspeciesRomance interspecies alien couple]] Gaitha and Zemir, while also befriending a curious but cautious TinCanRobot named Calculus and a fierce but principled humanoid alien named Voona. With his newfound friends, Roger is determined to make the most of his time on Cosmic City, leading to all sorts of adventures around Cosmic City and on other worlds across the Known Universe. In these escapades, Roger encounters many strange and wonderful things - friends and foes both alien and robotic, secrets of the universe and strange cosmic phenomenon, highly advanced technology and incredible vehicles, environments beautiful and dangerous, extraterrestrial beasts of every appearance and ability, and everything in between.

Droggs is Voona's pet Treescuttle, a green, cat-sized creature from Cholak resembling a six-legged lizard with a beak, compound eyes, and feathers on its back. As Voona's closest companion, Droggs is unfailingly loyal and ferociously protective of Voona, who in turn adores Droggs and shows him a degree of affection she rarely shows others. But while Voona loves Droggs above all else, most other people view him as little more than a repulsive pest.

* CityPlanet: Cosmic City itself. A lot of the problems that come with such a planet are Hand Waved by the fact that it is in fact artificially terraformed.

Long obsessed with stories of sci-fi space heroes, Roger alleviated his SmallTownBoredom with fantasies of intergalactic adventures and sees Cosmic City as his chance to live the life he always wanted. Adventurous, excitable, and enthusiastic, Roger approaches life with a friendly, confident, and optimistic CarpeDiem attitude that makes him fearless in the face of danger, sympathetic to peoples of all backgrounds, and eager to try anything he's never tried before. While his audacity, energy, and obsession with sci-fi often overwhelmed others on Earth (giving him a FriendlessBackground), he is a fundamentally kindhearted and will always make an effort to reach out to others. He is the youngest of three children born to a loving and patriotic pair of GreasySpoon owners.

Calculus ("Cal" for short) is one of Roger's two best friends on Cosmic City, a little grey robot resembling a trash can on wheels. Exceedingly well-mannered and socially awkward, Calculus compensates for his intense timidity with a great sense of curiosity and an endless fascination for the world around him. However, his shyness means he is also an immense worrywart, always cautious about possible risks and what could go wrong, never taking chances, and preferring the comfort of controlled environments. As a result, Calculus is CrazyPrepared to the extreme, equipped with countless gadgets to help him out in a pinch or study objects of interest and an internal databank that stores everything he learns no matter how small. He had never been off Cosmic City before meeting Roger, with his robot "parents" being a pair of reclusive inventors who develop advanced technologies for corporations to sell as products.

Gaitha is the wife of the interspecies alien couple looking after Roger and Voona (and Calculus to some degree), a pink alien resembling an anteater with small horns and a long-haired tonsure, originally from the tidally locked world of Nhimm. A former galactic adventurer who commanded the spaceship The Nebula Queen (affectionately known as "Queen Neb" by its crew), Gaitha is a classy, elegant, and sophisticated woman with a deep interest in art, culture, and history. After many decades travelling the Known Universe, Gaitha has retired to the humble life of an archivist for the GASP Museum of Galactic History. But despite her prim and proper personality, Gaitha still maintains the startling authority and strength that came with leading Queen Neb's crew. Nevertheless, she is a gentle figure with those she loves, especially her husband and ex-Queen Neb engineer Zemir, whom she is very much HappilyMarried to.

He is the youngest of three children born to a loving and patriotic interracial pair of classic American GreasySpoon owners, and he's even picked up cooking skills from his parents.

Calculus ("Cal" for short) is one of Roger's two best friends, a little grey robot resembling a trash can on wheels. Timid and well-mannered, Calculus possesses a great sense of curiosity that makes him endlessly fascinated with the universe around him. However, his drive to discover the world around him is tempered by his equally immense sense of caution - he is always concerned something could go wrong and he never takes chances. As a result, Calculus is CrazyPrepared for every possible outcome, being equipped with countless gadgets that frequently prove useful in a pinch and an internal databank that stores everything he learns. He was born and raised in Cosmic City (he's never been off-planet before), with his robot "parents" being a pair of logical and emotionally distant inventors who develop gadgets and other technologies for businesses to sell as products.

Voona is Roger's other best friend on Cosmic City, a purple human-like alien with smooth, hairless skin, PointyEars, and tentacles for hair. She is tough, stern, short-tempered, and blunt to the point of BrutalHonesty. But despite her harsh attitude, Voona is stubbornly principled, possessing a strong sense of justice and a burning hatred for bigotry, bullying, corruption, and ''especially'' animal cruelty. As a result, Voona respects those who share her values or stand for them. However, her fierce sense of integrity means she is also unafraid of calling out those she admires or considers her friends if she disapproves of what they're doing. Voona was born on the verdant greenhouse world of Cholak, but has been sent to live on Cosmic City with Gaitha and Zemir by her parents, two passionate biologists and staunch conservationists who happen to be old friends of the couple.

Zemir has an extremely relaxed and easygoing attitude that often leads others to mistake him as dumb and lazy (to his chagrin) when in reality, Zemir is well versed in science, technology, and engineering. But if there is one way to truly enrage Zemir, it would be to threaten those he cares deeply for, especially his wife Gaitha, whom he is still very much HappilyMarried to, the pair having been romantic partners during their adventuring days and finally getting married after they retired from intergalactic adventures.

While she tends to treat objects of her curiosity as mere specimens, Integer is simply an inquisitive robo-nerd who loves to collect things in the name of learning. She is especially fascinated by Roger, having never seen a human before.

Hydraulics is a hardcore RulesLawyer and aspiring law enforcer, a short black semi-humanoid robot with tank treads for legs and a domed toadstool-shaped head. As his name suggests, he is equipped with pistons in his neck and limbs that allow him to change height. Although currently a mere hall monitor, he is fiercely dedicated to order, following rules to a T and treating them with utmost seriousness. As a result, he often butts heads with the ever-adventurous Roger, although he also shares and respects the sense of justice and heroics Roger's action-focused attitude brings.

Tribbs is a street urchin, a small, gray-furred alien resembling a cat mixed with a lemur from Bastet 5, a world known for its inverted floating pyramids. Having arrived on Cosmic City from the giant city ship and WretchedHive, Aquila City, Tribbs is a bitter, cynical, and sarcastic individual for her tender age, being much younger than Roger. She trusts nobody and believes it's "everyone for themselves". Having survived through thievery and counterfeiting, Tribbs is a natural at navigating urban environments, making her quite helpful to Roger on many of his adventures.

Zanta is Roger's self-declared rival, a hairless, gray-skinned alien with two fleshy fins on his cheeks (like those of a manta ray) and a long tail-like tendril at the back of his head like a ponytail. Originating from the ultra-advanced archipelago planet of Halua 4, Zanta has a low view of Roger, believing humans are undeserving of being part of GASP for their "primitiveness". A firm believer in his inherent supremacy over "backwards" humans and extremely gadget-savvy, he often tries to goad Calculus and Voona to joining him, having a massive crush on the latter.

However, his endless fascination with the world around him is tempered by his equally immense sense of caution, which means he is always concerned something will go wrong and afraid of taking chances. As a result, he is drive to be CrazyPrepared for every possible outcome, with his tiny metallic body being equipped with countless gadgets that frequently prove useful in a pinch - alongside an internal databank that stores everything he learns. His "parents" are a pair of reclusive and stoic but highly successful workaholics who develop new advanced technologies for businesses and corporations to produce and sell.

Voona is the adopted daughter of Gaitha and Zemir (though she calls them "aunt" and "uncle"), a purple human-like alien from the tentacles for hair. She is a serious and short-tempered person, straightforward to the point of BrutalHonesty and tending to express her dislike for others through her martial arts skills. However, Voona also possesses strong principles that she is very passionate about (like standing up for those who cannot and protecting those you are important to you) and despises bigotry, bullying, abuse (especially of animals), and other forms of cruelty. As a result, Voona holds strong respect for those who share her values or demonstrate great bravery standing up for them in some way. Her biological parents were explorers who mysteriously vanished when she was little, leaving her in the care of their friends, Gaitha and Zemir.

Droggs is Voona's pet Scuttling Sectile, a green, cat-sized creature resembling a six-legged lizard with a beak, compound eyes, and a row of feathers down its back. Although seen as a repulsive pest by most, Droggs is extremely important to Voona, for she views him as the last connection she has with her vanished parents, as they permitted the young Voona to keep him as a pet. Voona and Droggs are extremely loyal, affectionate, and protective of one another, and neither could possibly imagine life without the other.
