* This is a common theme in ''WesternAnimation/Amphibia'', which is an overall dark and creepy-appearing world, but which has many good people in it.

* The kindhearted necromancer Dr. Orpheus from ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers''. He states that he only took the title of Necromancer because the other titles for sorcerers were taken.

* The animated short "Kagemono: The Shadow Folk. Played with in that Dark can be [[both good AND evil! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHsvtGbmsQo]]

** In SequelSeries ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'' Waterbender Korra is TheHero and TheChosenOne. [[spoiler:On the other hand, in a subversion given the circumstances, the [[BigBad Big Bads]] of the first and second season are also waterbenders.]]
*** Asami Sato from the same series is more of a visual example, wearing a good deal of [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver black and red]] -- the same color scheme as [[SatanicArchetype Vaatu]], no less -- but she's firmly on the heroes' side. (Interestingly, Asami ''was'' conceived as a SixthRangerTraitor. The writers, however, decided they liked her character too much to waste it.)

* The {{Deuteragonist}} of ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'' is named Chat Noir ("Black Cat"), has an all-black superhero outfit and gains his powers of destruction ("Cataclysm") from a spirit of bad luck. Both he and said spirit are extremely nice.

** Twilight Sparkle, having mostly dark colors of lavender and purple, in addition to a name that refers to a time period of night. She is undoubtedly the loving and friendly [[TheHero hero]] and central protagonist of the entire series.
** Princess Luna is the ruler of the night, but isn't evil. Her BigEntrance in "Luna Eclipsed" pretty much has about every villain appearance trope you could imagine... when she comes to meet the citizens and show that she's no longer evil as in the Nightmare Moon persona that had previously taken over her for a thousand years. None of it is really helping her case, including her time of arrival during the night at Nightmare Night, a local version of Halloween centered around Nightmare Moon.
** "The Crystal Empire" showed that [[spoiler: Twilight and '''Celestia''']] can [[CastingAShadow cast shadow spells]], and as of "Princess Twilight Sparkle Part 2" it has been shown to be ''identical'' to alicorn magic. While this hasn't been elaborated on in the series, this seems to imply (along with the "Alicorn Amulet" being an ArtifactOfDoom) that alicorn magic is inherently dark.

** [[spoiler:Starlight Glimmer]] officially becomes this post HeelFaceTurn, being dominantly purple. However, she has a much brighter pastel shade of purple in her coat and mane than Twilight Sparkle.2

* ''WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack'': In the first half of [[GrandFinale season 5]], Jack is wearing a dark armor with horns and a mask with a very devilish look resembling a Japanese ''Oni''. Also, in the promotional picture, Jack has a very menacing KubrickStare, all topped off with him being covered in blood. Of course, Jack still manages to be a rather heroic man despite his fatal flaws.

* ''WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil'': Eclipsa, Queen of Darkness is touted in the first two seasons as being a villain who practiced "evil" dark magic and abandoned her kingdom to elope with an evil monster, and the queens after her were dissuaded from reading her evil chapter in the royal spellbook...[[spoiler: except she's not evil, more just selfish and unwilling to be hampered by limitations set by others. Her first actual appearance shows her to be calm, a bit childish, and genuinely sympathizing with Moon's grief over her mother's death and her own premature ascension to the throne. She is in a loving relationship with her monster husband Globgor, and is even willing to sacrifice her own daughter Meteora in order to protect Mewni from Meteora's rampage]]. She is a devoted monster rights advocate, in direct contrast to her [[LightIsNotGood sun-themed mother Solaria]], [[ANaziByAnyOtherName who was a warmongering racist hellbent on eradicating all of monsterkind from the face of Mewni]].

** Also Kevin Levin after his HeelFaceTurn, since he still wears dark black clothing.

* ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom'' wears a black jumpsuit with white detailing. His ArchEnemy [[LightIsNotGood wears a white one with black detailing]]. His [[FutureMeScaresMe evil future self]], conversely, wears a 50/50 mix of the two. [[spoiler: Actually appropriate, seeing as his evil self is a merging of the ghostly alter egos of the two.]]

* WesternAnimation/{{Fillmore}}'s sidekick Ingrid Third wears black and is a Safety Patroller.

* Mao Mao from ''WesternAnimation/MaoMaoHeroesOfPureHeart'' despite his black cat look and [[ScaryTeeth sharp teeth]], he's the sheriff of Pure Heart Valley and only goal is to be a [[HeroicWannabe legendary hero]].

* ''WesternAnimation/MinaAndTheCount'' -- Count Vlad is a vampire, wears black and has blue skin. He is also turned into OneOfTheKids now, courtesy of [[NiceGirl Mina]].

* ''WesternAnimation/SupermanDoomsday''. When Superman returns to Metropolis to take on his evil clone, he's wearing a black Superman suit to absorb as much solar energy as possible (though as per [[EvilWearsBlack the usual trope]], Jimmy Olsen assumes an even more evil Superman has arrived to make things worse).

* ''WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated'' -- Prowl has black for a main color and grey for a secondary color, but he's one of the Autobots.

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Wakfu}}'': [[spoiler: The Masked Gobbowler (a.k.a. Maude) wears 50% black but while she's quite the brute, she's far from evil]].

* ''WesternAnimation/{{WITCH}}'': Napoleon is a black cat who's one of Earth's protectors.

** Koh the Facestealer is one the creepiest examples. Despite his name, Koh isn't an "evil" spirit, but one with a very shifty and amoral nature. After all, he did help Aang when he asked for insight. Avatar Kuruk particularly wanted to kill Koh, for stealing his wives' face. But that was the fault of Kuruk's own arrogance, nothing of malicious intent. He very rarely meets humans, which goes to show he doesn't go out looking for trouble.
