* AdaptationalNiceGuy: During the Cyclops Lane questline, Cyrus has you personally hand Ambrose a letter asking for your expulsion. Originally, he did this entirely because you were prioritizing ''finding missing students'' over your schoolwork; the quest was later rewritten so that he misinterprets a message describing the situation[note]]"The Trolls are revolting"[[/note] as a bad joke at his school's expense.

While his personality at first is a near dead-ringer for [[Franchise/HarryPotter Severus Snape]], Cyrus has several nuances that set him apart from the SadistTeacher, even with Snape's own HiddenDepths. For one, Cyrus is quite content with being the Myth Professor, as it was his chosen school by choice and thus he lacks any complaints with his job that Snape did. And while Snape was a DoubleAgent, with his loyalties being unknown, Cyrus was always a staunch ally of Wizard City and legitimately leads the charge against his brother in Dragonspyre. His background also lacks the [[AbusiveParents abusive nature]] of Snape's, and is in fact, so different that drawing comparisons isn't quite so easy.

* {{Expy}}: Especially in the early quest lines, his personality is very clearly based on that of [[Franchise/HarryPotter Severus Snape]]. This is downplayed as the game progresses and more of his background is revealed, to the point of being something of an inversion of a CorruptedCharacterCopy.

* BadassInCharge: As well as being a renowned magical duelist, he's also the leader of the Wizard City Guard. It's later revealed that he's [[spoiler:a member of the Council of Light]].

The professors of Ravenwood are legendary wizards that can turn even the most unlikely student into a powerful wizard. Supported by Headmaster Merle Ambrose and a team of support staff, the Ravenwood professors are central to the player's story, especially the professor for your chosen school.

* CynicalMentor: Extremely so. The first Myth training quest is literally impossible to initially complete. Even non-Myth students are still treated with disdain ''at best''.

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: During the Cyclops Lane questline, where he would rather have you do his laundry run and [[spoiler:turn in an expulsion letter to Ambrose]] than show any concern about the students General Akilles holds prisoner.

* NiceHat: Always seen wearing his trademark purple top hat. The player can obtain the hat as a rare item drop from the Professor's Hoard pack.

* BaldOfAwesome: After Ambrose, Morganthe and Malistaire, he's the most powerful wizard alive. He's completely bald. [[spoiler:In one of the flashback dungeons, he's revealed to have once had a large "afro" hairstyle.]]

* BadassGrandpa: His full name is Ravak al Hazred, Grandmaster of the Order of the Fang, a group of Krok sages that predates the Council of Light.

* TheAnnouncer: His primary responsibility is to teach students to use their magic in a combat environment, but he also enjoys emceeing PvP battles and tournaments. [[LargeHamAnnouncer Passionately.]]

* MagicalAsian: Although not truly Asian [[PettingZooPeople (or human at all)]], her Asian voice actress, tendency to assign students to meditation/tests of focus, and homeworld of Feudal Japan-inspired Mooshu qualify her for this trope.

* TheIgor: To Malistaire, before his descent into madness. As the interim Death Professor, he begins to grow out of this role over the course of the Death training quests, eventually becoming a powerful Necromancer in his own right.
