In Japanese, the 'N' kana (ん/ン) is the only kana that never begins words (with the exception of foreign loan words), and often appears at the end of words, while 'To' (と/ト) means "and". Thus, Zetton's name is ''Z'' and ''N'', two letters from two different languages, both with themes of finality, befitting his nature as the last monster to fight Ultraman in the original series.

* MeaningfulName[=/=]PunnyName: Zetton's name is derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the letter "Z" with "n" at the end, as "Z" is the final letter of the English alphabet, "n" is the final letter of the Japanese alphabet, and Zetton is the final monster in the show.

* ConspicuousTrenchcoat: {{Exploited}}. He first appears to Science Patrol amidst radioactive fog while dressed in a black coat and a matching fedora; as he later shows the ability to perfectly disguise himself as Fuji, this was likely deliberately done to gain Science Patrol's attention.

One of a species of humans that lived underground, longing to conquer their surface brethren. To achieve her people's goals, she disguised herself as a French Science Patrol agent named Annette, kidnapped Hayata to try and enslave Ultraman as a minion under her command, and sent Telesdon against the surface world.

* ImpersonatingAnOfficer: She disguised herself as a Science Patrol agent named Annette, telling Science Patrol she was taking Hayata to the organization's headquarters in Paris.

* MemeticHandGesture: Again, probably the TropeCodifier in Japan. The Specium Ray hand pose. Left hand horizontal, right hand vertical, connected at the wrist with the left in front.

* BreakoutVillain: A natural consequence of being the very first kaiju to battle an Ultraman.

* DirtyCoward: The episode opens up with him flying away from Ultraman to Earth and hiding in a lake. He also attempted to escape in its blue ball form after losing the fight with Ultraman. The keyword is "attempted" because Ultraman blows him out of the sky.

* NotZilla: Very obviously based on a certain giant reptile.

* SpikesOfVillainy: Has spikes running across his back. They're pretty much just there to look menacing, since he never uses them in combat.
* StarterVillain: The very first monster in the ''Franchise/UltraSeries'' to fight an Ultraman.

The first aliens to battle an Ultraman, the Baltans are a race of insectoids who destroyed their planet by nuclear war and decided to seize Earth after taking a liking to the world when they stopped at a science facility to make some repairs to their spaceship. They returned later on in the series when one was sent to capture the renowned scientist Dr. Mohri in order to distract Science Patrol while the rest of its kind invaded Earth.

* ArchEnemy: Considering that Baltan has shown up more frequently than most Ultraman foes, especially with the following series, it's only obvious that this guy truly is the arch-foe of the Ultra heroes.

* EvilSoundsDeep: '''VERY.''' '''''VERY.''''' DEEP. The deep, guttural, ''DA-DA'' call that they're known for making sounds like they used the deepest pit of their stomach to achieve such a low pitch.

* TheChick: Of Science Patrol, being the sole female member and the kindest of the group.

* FinishingMove: The M87 Ray, though he's rarely shown actually using it. According to expanded universe materials, it's the "the strongest beam in the universe". Given he can wipe out entire alien armadas with it [[spoiler:and alongside Mebius is eventually used to kill the immensely powerful Alien Empera]], its reputation is well justified.

* RecurringElement: The Science Special and the including individual members would become the basis for all the Defense Forces going forward.

* BadassNormal: Despite possessing no abilities, Red King is still strong enough to rip monsters to pieces, LITERALLY limb-from-limb

A bat-like monster encountered on Tatara Island by Science Patrol, Chandlar was spotted battling Red King by the team. He proved no match against Tatara Island's tyrant and was gruesomely defeated by the stronger monster, starting off the
