* DropTheHammer: Her Quinque, Bokusatsu, is a hammer.

* DoesNotLikeMen: Used in a somewhat unusual fashion, when Mutsuki is dressed in a dress. He's shown to be extremely uncomfortable around the male patrons of a nightclub, and expresses that he finds the MaleGaze to be disgusting.

* OffModel: Urie's drawn without a mouth surprisingly frequently. Considering how often it happens, it's likely intentional. Whether it's done for comedic effect or otherwise is anyone's guess.

* MegaTwinTails: She has poofy, low pigtails that are large and distinctive enough that they are used on her speech bubbles to help indicate when she's talking if you can't see her. She loses them after the second major TimeSkip.

* AnAxeToGrind: Young Mutsuki wields an axe in a flashback, using it to kill his family.

* KnifeNut: His WeaponOfChoice is a knife, and Mutsuki begins to mentor him in how to best use them in battle.

* KnifeNut: He develops into an extremely talented knife fighter, under Juuzou's guidance. Takes a more psychopathic turn in Chapter 79 when it's revealed he killed a cat using a knife under Tokage's instruction, and Torso's death report explicitly states that his tongue was ''cut'' out.

* IllGirl: [[spoiler: By the finale of the series, her health has started to decline. She's working with doctors to study the Half-humans' aging problems, in hopes of extending the lives of her juniors]].

* PromotionToParent: His mother abandoned the family long ago, and his father apparently killed himself. This left Shirazu responsible for caring for himself and his IllGirl little sister.

* IllBoy: Mutsuki suffers bouts of anemia, and starts out as the weakest member of the team.

* CryCute: During his SuperPowerMeltdown, he curls up in a fetal position on the ground and weeps.

* BlindingBangs: His bangs completely conceal his eyes. Although underneath his bangs, his eyes are very menacing and disturbing during the Clown Seige operation and [[spoiler:his battle against "Sasaki"]].

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: He has purple hair.

Saiko has blue hair, Aura and Mutsuki have green hair, Urie has purple hair, Shirazu has orange hair, Higemaru has pink hair, and Sasaki has MulticoloredHair in a mixture of black-and-white.

* BeautyMark: He has two moles beneath his left eye.

* CrucifiedHeroShot: SinisterMinister Donato Porpora pins him to the ceiling in this position, while forcing him to watch Higemaru's torture. For bonus symbolism, it's done with a kagune made of CreepyCoolCrosses.
