A groundskeeper and teacher at the Shinjuku Academy's elementary branch. Originally from Tir na Nog, his role is to spirit away children to another world and [[ScareEmStraight teach them lessons through scares.]] The protagonist inadvertently gets involved when they're kidnapped by him.

His Artifact is a cloth he ties around his waist. He can use it to ensnare people and take them away to another dimension. During the 2022 Valentine's Day event, he uses it to bring people to a virtual reality dimension created by Hephaestus, modeled after fairy tales.

* CaringGardener: Serves as the groundskeeper for the school, where he lovingly tends to a garden.

* BunnyEarsLawyer: He has difficulty with regular social interactions and even has trouble ordering coffee at a café (he cites trying to order as being like trying to speak a foreign language), but his knowledge about mountaineering and hiking is unparallelled.
* GentleGiant: Despite his large appearance and overbearing demeanor, Zao is legitimately a kind person, and is well-liked by people who take the time to get to know him.

* TheNavigator: What his Sacred Artifact and his third eye allow him to do: his Rule of Traverse makes any terrain easy for him to navigate, no matter how harsh.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: He understandably didn't know, but he's partly responsible for everyone being trapped on the mountain course in the O' the Great Gendarme event, as a result of the Daughter of the Mountain granting his wish for the tournament to never end and to climb the mountain forever.
* NoChallengeEqualsNoSatisfaction: While he loves mountains and mountaineering, he eventually comes to the conclusion that by using his abilities to always find the easy route, he's "forcing his own feelings" onto the mountains as well, and resolves to learn to take the mountains as they are, rather than as he wants them to be.
* NoSocialSkills: [[ZigZaggingTrope Zig-zagged.]] He's rather pushy about getting people to join his Mountaineering Club, but this is mostly because he's the only member (before he gets you to join), and because the club is in danger of being closed by the school. He loves talking about mountains so much that he assumes ''everyone'' loves them just the same, so he has a habit of talking over people and trying to get them to join the club. However, he does seem to have a decent level of insight into other people's feelings, and he gets along fine with Ashigara after some awkward first contact. That said, Zao still feels much more at home in the mountains than he does in urban life.
* TemporaryOnlineContent: Both his 3* and 4* versions are only available from the Black Snow On The Hot Spring Mountains event shop and the Great Gendarme event shop, and are not part of the regular gacha. His 5* version has so far only been obtainable in the ''O' the Great Gendarme'' event gacha.

* EnemyWithin: While he doesn't know it at the start of the event he premieres in, Kimun is also host to an alternate personality, Wen Kamui, who can occasionally take over his body. It comes to a head in the "Onsen Jamboree" event where, thanks to a collided mountain, Wen becomes his.
* EnemyWithout: When Wen takes over Kimun's body, he immediately goes about trying to cause Kimun as much pain and heartache as possible, either by [[TheCorrupter influencing the ciramantep into attacking other campers]] or creating Shadows of his companions to attack Kimun and the others.

* OptionalSexualEncounter: The post-event quest with Kimun has the most blatant of these in a game where it's usually much more coy, and the player is even given the choice of Kimun or Wen. Kimun is nervous, bashful, and gentle. Wen, although impressed by the Protagonist's audacity, is... ''not'', being ''very'' aggressive about it.

* SadisticChoice: Wen eventually forces Kimun into a situation where he will have to use his sword to either "cut away" Wen, allowing him to be free from Kimun and able to cause a ''lot'' more pain and anguish and very likely cause incredible damage to Kimun's psyche, or on Kimun's newly found friends and students, where he'd "cut away" their character growth, making him just like Wen.
