->''"Had enough? Then beat it, fool."''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Masae Yumi (''[='96=]'' to ''XIII'') Creator/SeikoYoshida (''XIV'', Japanese), Lisa Leonard (''Maximum Impact'' series, English), Rachel Waltzer (''XII'', English)

-> Young Leona's father, [[SpellMyNameWithAnS Gaidel]], was one of the Orochi heralds, but when Goenitz visited his village to remind him of his role in Orochi's resurrection, Gaidel wanted no part of it. As punishment for his betrayal, Goenitz forced his pre-teen daughter into the Riot of the Blood state, causing her to go berserk and [[DoomedHometown slaughter the entire village]] singlehandedly, including her family. When she woke up and saw what she had done, a traumatised and amnesiac Leona then wandered aimlessly until she was found by Heidern; he planned to drop off her at an orphanage, but found Leona had cut down a tree with her bare hands, and not to mention he had lost his own daughter some time ago. She was adopted by Heidern shortly afterwards, becoming his de facto daughter. Although she [[EmotionlessGirl appears cold]], she maintains this persona out of fear that being emotional will cause her to regress into the Riot once more.

* ActionGirl: She ''is'' a trained mercenary after all.
* AlternateCompanyEquivalent: It could be argued that she’s one of Cammy from Capcom’s [[VideoGame/StreetFighter Street Fighter.]] Both are VERY stoic soldiers with a dark past where they were under the influence of dark forces and later on were afraid of succumbing to said forces again and hurt their loved ones. The only major difference is that Cammy is a bit “happier” than Leona and is seeing smiling a lot more.
* AmazonianBeauty: She is ''very'' pretty, but there's more focus on her being toned and athletic as opposed to busty and curvy. Her outfits since ''XII'' do give more focus to the latter, though.
* ApocalypseMaiden: As Orochi Leona in '''97''.
* AscendedGlitch: Her infamous salute to Chang in ''[='98=]'' was originally a bug. WordOfGod said this was intentional, but it led to a plethora of both {{fan|Art}} and ''official'' art as well as a few [[WildMassGuessing fan theories]] back in the day.
** It's now AscendedMeme status as of ''XIV''; playing as either Leona or Chang in Story Mode will result in a special cutscene in which they [[HilariousInHindsight both salute each other]].
* BareYourMidriff: Even more so with her ''XII'' outfit.
* BloodSplatteredInnocents: [[spoiler:''Horrible'' subversion: she was the one who killed the people whose blood she's splattered with. When under MoreThanMindControl, to be fair.]]
* BoobsOfSteel: Much more prominent in later games where she ditches her jacket for a tanktop.
* BreakTheCutie: Her backstory. Goenitz induced the [[DemonicPossession Riot of the Blood]] in her when she was a child and made her slaughter her whole village. Several Ikari Warriors endings involve Ralf and Clark trying to cheer her up.
* BrokenBird: Alongside Elisabeth and Chizuru, she's one of the straightest examples of the trope. She seems to be recovering from it, if the ''XIV'' ending for her team is any indication.
* CastFromHitPoints: Exclusive to 2002, she has a move where she can turn into Orochi Leona mid-fight, but it drains her HP to 50% and she can't use it if she's already at below half health.
* CharacterDevelopment: Initially Leona did not salute Ralf like she did with Clark, even though Ralf is superior in rank to her and Clark, that might have to do with Ralf’s brash and somewhat carefree personality which might not inspire authority on someone as serious as Leona; however after the Orochi Saga ends with Ralf telling Leona she is not a slave to fate (of being an Orochi pawn) a speech that mirrored her own father’s, she seemly warms up to him, the following games has Leona saluting Ralf as well in their Special Intro.
** Massive doses of character development for Leona in ''XIV'', the Ikari Team ending contains many instances of Leona smiling and she flat out saying how fun it is being together with Ralf, Clark, Whip and Heidern; there was a time Leona smiling just once was the climax of any Ikari Team ending.
* {{Child Soldier|s}}: Became one of the "just plain tragic" type after being taken in by Heidern.
* DashAttack: Her Grand Saber special has her running towards her foe and then slicing them with her arm.
* DeadlyUpgrade: During her Riot of the Blood state she gets increased power and speed but she loses control of herself and vomits blood.
* DramaticWind: During her caped/hooded intro mentioned below.
* EmotionlessGirl: Of the "emotionally repressed" type.
* EnemyWithin: Orochi Leona. Her Rebel Spark SDM and her transformation move in ''2002'' imply she has some control over it, but she comments in ''XIII'' that she must "resist what's in her blood".
* EnergyBall: Her Baltic Launcher special deploys this in front of her.
* [[CurtainsMatchTheWindow Eye]][=/=]HairColorDissonance: In sprites, her eyes used to be green with blue eyebrows. Everywhere else, they were always blue with black eyebrows.
* FacePalmOfDoom: Her Grateful Dead DM (NESTS Saga only) has her do this to her foe while damaging them with a white aura.
* FanservicePack: From ''XII'' onward not only have her outfits gotten more revealing (trading in her more standard military jacket for a dark tank top), she appears to have gone up a couple bra sizes, complete with {{Gainaxing}} as of ''XIV.''
* FlashStep: One of her [=DMs=] in ''XIII'' can be summed up as a deadly game of pinball involving blades.
* FlungClothing: Her dress uniform in ''KOF '96/'98'', a cape/hood in ''KOF '97/'99'' (first turn only).
* HappilyAdopted: Well, as happy as an [[SugarAndIcePersonality emotionally repressed]], [[SelfMadeOrphan self-orphaned]], [[SuperpoweredEvilSide cursed]] girl can get, anyway.
* HavingABlast: in several of her [=DMs=] (and higher-ups) such as Rebel Spark and V-Slasher (the latter only as its SDM version) she can make her foe explode.
* HeroicBSOD: Had one after the horrendous incident with Goenitz, until she was found and adopted by Heidern.
* TheLadette: Of the Ikari Warriors team.
* LightningBruiser: Orochi Leona gains a massive speed boost over her sane form.
* LimpAndLivid[=/=]PrimalStance: As Orochi Leona.
* {{Monochromatic|Eyes}} MindControlEyes: As Orochi Leona. Crosses over with GlowingEyesOfDoom and SupernaturalGoldEyes DependingOnTheArtist.
* PerpetualFrowner: To the point that by the time of ''XIII'', Leona is ''ordered'' by her superior officers to smile more often.
* PowerDyesYourHair: Her blue hair turns red when she is taken over by the Riot of the Blood. During her NEO MAX in ''XIII'' she's shown to have her hair briefly turn red, indicating that she's able to control the power of the Riot for a short time. In ''XIV'', her Climax super and the Max Level versions of her normal supers also have her hair turn briefly red meaning she's made quite a bit of progress in learning to control that power.
* RazorSharpHand: Unlike her adoptive father, Leona's is apparently an inherited ability from Gaidel. Again, there's AudibleSharpness.
* ReiAyanamiExpy: TheStoic [[ShyBlueHairedGirl Shy Blue Haired]] ApocalypseMaiden with a SugarAndIcePersonality and DarkAndTroubledPast? Yup. Bonus points for debuting around the same time as well.
* ReplacementGoldfish: To a degree, for her boss and adoptive father.
* SelfMadeOrphan: Under Goenitz's control, in her defense.
* ShesGotLegs: In her original outfit. She's worn pants ever since ''XII''.
* ShyBlueHairedGirl: Although the "shy" is more like "emotionally withdrawn."
* SignatureMove: Her Grand Saber special and V-Slasher DM.
* SkywardScream: During her Orochi mode's intro.
** DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Listen to her breathing and notice her crazed, somewhat ''pleasured'' look in the aforementioned intro.
* SlipknotPonytail: In one of her winposes.
* SNKBoss: Orochi Leona. In this form she's twice as fast, twice as strong, and has new animations that give her priority over several moves (such as [[RunningOnAllFours her new run animation]], which now lets her ''go underneath fireballs''). When you play as her, she has a weaker defense, and is much harder to control, but, yep, she's cheaper than Orochi Iori.
* StatuesqueStunner: She stands at 176 cm tall.
* TheStoic: Inherited from her stepfather, though no doubt helped by her tragic backstory.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: So, so much. Despite her stoic and emotionless façade, she can actually be caring and compassionate. This is better displayed in her winquotes in ''XIV''.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: When the Orochi power overwhelms her, her speed and attack power increase dramatically (to the point she can walk ''backwards'' far faster than any character can walk ''forwards''). However she can't control her actions in this state and will kill whatever is in front of her, regardless of her relationship to them.
* ThrowDownTheBomblet: Her Earring Bomb special has her, well, throw her exploding earring forward. She seems to have an endless supply of earrings on her ears.
* TomboyishPonytail: Downplayed as it's more about her being very serious and not too girly.
* TooManyBelts: In ''Maximum Impact 2'', [[http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090409024040/snk/images/3/30/Leona-mi2x.jpg courtesy of]] [[AuthorAppeal Falcoon]].
* TraumaInducedAmnesia: [[WhereIWasBornAndRazed After she slaughtered her village]], she was so horrified that she couldn't remember what happened. She found out the truth in ''[='97=]'' and, after being briefly DrivenToSuicide, got over it.
* TurnsRed: [[PowerDyesYourHair Her hair]] and her skin turn red in her Orochi form.
* UnstoppableRage: When her Orochi blood flares out of control, she becomes savage and insane, indiscriminately ripping everyone she can reach to shreds (including her own father).
* WhenSheSmiles: A staple of her team's endings. Learning of her past and horrified by her actions while having succumbed to The Riot of the Blood, Leona attempts to commit suicide after the ''[='97=]'' tournament. Ralf and Clark talk her out of it and cheer her up, prompting Leona to smile for the first time in years. The Ikari Team's ending in ''XIII'' takes this a step further. [[spoiler:Having fallen unconscious after the tournament, Leona awakes to see Ralf, Clark, and Whip dotingly checking up on her. Touched by the concern of her [[TrueCompanions teammates]], Leona ''laughs''.]]
* WhyAmITicking: Her Earring Bomb 2: Heart Attack special (only around NESTS saga) has her attach her earring bomb to the opponent. A few seconds later, the earring explodes, harming the foe and allowing for further combos.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity[=/=]ThisIsYourBrainOnEvil: Again, listen to her ''pleasured'' SkywardScream.
** On the other hand, her EX [=DMs=] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtATBcqEMRo Neo MAX]] in ''XIII'' seem to imply that Leona is learning how to better control her Orochi form, at least for short bursts of time.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Or red, if it's Orochi Leona.

->''"The honor of the Todoh school is in my hands. Me, the daughter of Ryuhaku!"''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Masae Yumi

->Kasumi is the daughter of Ryuhaku Todoh, the first enemy in the original ''VideoGame/ArtOfFighting''. She grew up learning the Todoh school of Aikido and Kobujutsu, taught to her by her father. As her family's sole heir, she does all she can to stand up for the Todoh way. When Ryuhaku stayed at Southtown to settle an old score with a man named Takuma Sakazaki, Kasumi remained in her house, waiting for her father's return. A couple of months later, she got some bad news: Ryuhaku had been defeated by Ryo Sakazaki, Takuma's son and hasn't been seen since. She decided to fight Ryo and anybody else in order to avenge her father. Unfortunately enough, her mother Mizuho did not like that idea. But she eventually makes peace with him and returns to Japan with her mother.

* BadassAdorable: A competent aikadoka who is young, cute and prone to silly manneirisms such as reading her translation book. Not to mention very focused on her martial art and devoted to her father and family.
* {{Bokukko}}
* ChainmailBikini: Only in some iterations.
* CounterAttack: being an aikidoka, she has specials and a DM that work like this.
* CuteBruiser: She might be young and cute but has some noticeably powerful moves such as her counter DM.
* DaddysGirl: Kasumi is this to her...
* DisappearedDad: She's always looking for him, but little does she know he's right under her nose the whole time.
** Including in the ''background'' of the Women's Team stage in ''KOF '96'', should Kasumi be fighting at the time..
** Or as [[PaperThinDisguise "Unknown,"]] a striker from ''2000'' who also appears in her ''2002: Unlimited Match'' HSDM.
* DramaticWind: One of her ''KOF '99'' victory poses mimics that of Ryu in ''VideoGame/StreetFighterII''. Said pose also includes Ryu's trademark BadassArmFold.
* EloquentInMyNativeTongue: See GratuitousEnglish below.
* FamilyHonor: The crux of her rivalry with the Kyokugen karatekas. She doesn't really hold any ill-will towards them, even going so far as to join Yuri on the Women Fighters Team in ''2000'', but since Ryo is the one who defeated her father, Kasumi feels that the only way to get her dad to come back home is to settle the score.
* FingerlessGloves: Always a part of her outfit.
* GenerationXerox: Very much like her father.
* GrappleMove: A few of her specials and [=DMs=] is a close-range grab, usually those that juggles opponent in the end.
* GratuitousEnglish: ''"Come back when you grow up!"''
** [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by her looking it up from a translation dictionary first, due to her terrible English-speaking skills.
--> ''"Slow down--don't understand meaning..."''
* HeirToTheDojo: Although this by default, Ryuhaku packing his bags and leaving for parts unknown to train himself after losing to Ryo back in ''AOF'' prematurely thrusted the responsibility of the dojo's regular upkeep onto Kasumi.
* KiManipulation: The Kasane Ate attacks, where she makes waves of blue slashing projectiles.
* LadyOfWar: One in the making. While she does fight with grace, she notably hates to do traditional Japanese woman routines (as seen in her "dislike").
* MartialArtsHeadband: Part of her outfit. She removes it in one of her winposes.
* NoblewomansLaugh: One of her victory poses.
* ParasolOfPrettiness: She's sometimes seen with one in her intro poses.
* TheRival: To the Kyokugen school of Karate (''Art of Fighting'' Team). It's not something she really wants to do, it's [[FamilyHonor a family obligation]].
* ShesGotLegs: [[InformedAttribute Not that we'd know]], but being [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3LQ7lCQZ24#t=1m8s secretly envied]] in this department by '''[[VideoGame/StreetFighterII Chun-Li]]''' of all people speaks volumes.
* SignatureMove: her Kasane Ate special and its DM version.
* SituationalDamageAttack: Her Chou Kasane Ate DM will do more hits and damage if done closer to the foe.
* ThreeStrikeCombo: Her Senkou Nagashi special is a 3-hit rekka (okay, the first strike does 2 hits, but still) based on her short combo in AOF 3.
* TranslationConvention: During her GratuitousEnglish win pose she has to look through an Japanese-English dictionary.
** Her Engrish might also be SNK [[SelfDeprecation prodding at their own long-standing habit of]] [[BlindIdiotTranslation shoddy translations.]]
* [[WouldntHitAGirl Wouldn't]] [[CounterAttack Counter-Hit]] [[WouldntHitAGirl A Girl]]: In some games, her attack reversal throws only work on males.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Probably inherited from her mother, as Ryuhaku's hair is black.

-->'''Portrayed by:''' Monique Ganderton (live-action movie)

-> One of the servants of Orochi. She, along with Vice, were assigned by Goenitz to watch over Rugal in case he overused his Orochi power, but [[KarmicDeath he did]], and both of them were reassigned to watch Iori Yagami. Both of them joined him for the ''[='96=]'' tournament, but they were suddenly and viciously assaulted by Iori when he entered the Riot of the Blood state. Their mortal forms were killed, but their spirits survived. After regaining their forms, they appeared before Iori after his powers were stolen by Ash in ''XIII'' and assisted him in getting them back, but their true mission was to ensure that Those from the Distant Land did not get their hands on Orochi's power. Mature returned once again in ''XIV'', likely involved with the supernatural air surrounding the new KOF tournament held by Antonov [[spoiler:the cause of which is Verse]]. Her Orochi power is the ability to create illusions.

* AscendedExtra: Remember the woman who escorted you to Rugal's lair in ''[='94=]''? ''That's'' Mature.
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: She clearly has a crush on Rugal.
** There's also her quote after beating Iori in ''XII'': "You're the best." [[spoiler:In ''XIII'', she says that she's looking forward to seeing Iori fight without his flames. Oh, and she doesn't seem to mind that he killed her.]]
* BackFromTheDead: Sorta. For one reason or another, she reappears in ''XII'' and ''XIV''. [[spoiler:Iori actually ''did'' kill them, [[OurGhostsAreDifferent but they can take the form of solid shadows in the living realm]].]]
* BadassInANiceSuit: She starts in a simple 3-piece suit with pants in '94, then her '96 appearance (which is retained until 2002) has her change into a slightly different getup with white WaistcoatOfStyle, longer coat and ProperTightsWithASkirt. After going back to her '94 appearance in XII (with an eyepatch), her outfit in XIV is a mix of the '94 one and the '96 one, but with exposed shoulders and upper arms.
* TheBaroness: Fits this to a T, especially the Sexpot type.
* ChristmasCake: At 28, she was the oldest woman in the series ([[MeaningfulName hence her name]]) until Vanessa came along. Of course, Vanessa was 30 four years later, so... However, she doesn't seem to care a lot about it, if her quotes are any indication.
* CombatSadomasochist: A much, '''much''' milder version compared to Vice. [[spoiler:In ''XIII'']] her lines sound ''very'' flirty... and then she switches to talking about [[InterplayOfSexAndViolence violence with equaling pleasure]], creeping out the other person.
* CombatStilettos: Some of her attacks involve some very precise strikes with her heels.
* CrossCulturalKerfluffle: Her name -- undoubtedly supposed to be implicitly sexy (as in 'mature content') but it just sounds ridiculous to a Western audience. At least 'Vice' faired a little better.
* DarkActionGirl: She and Vice were the first evil female characters in the series.
* DashAttack: Her Metal Massacre special is her running towards the foe and then slashing them once.
* DoubleEntendre: Very, ''very'' fond of these [[spoiler:particularly in ''XIII'']]. Vice may be more sexually aggressive from a physical standpoint, but Mature definitely has a way with words.
* EasilyForgiven: In ''XIII'', [[spoiler:Mature doesn't seem to mind much about what Iori did to her and Vice back in '''96'' and rather casually joins forces with him.]]
* EvilVersusEvil: [[spoiler:Mature reveals to Iori in ''XIII'' that she and Vice want to prevent the power of Orochi from falling into the hands of either Ash or Those from the Past.]]
* EyepatchOfPower: After her comeback in ''XII'' [[spoiler:and ''XIII'']] but it's gone by ''XIV''.
** EyeScream: Subverted. You'd ''think'' that's why she's wearing the thing (Iori and Yuri also come to this conclusion), but [[spoiler:it's made clear that it's more of a PowerLimiter, if anything. See RedEyesTakeWarning below.]]
* FemmeFatale: She has the typical appearance and seductive personality. And she is one of the bad guys.
* FemmeFatalons: she mainly weaponizes her sharp nails.
* [[TomboyAndGirlyGirl Girly Girl]]: Mature is calm, collected, ''very'' feminine and classy. Vice is her opposite, see the entry.
* GoryDiscretionShot: Used when Orochi Iori kills her and Vice.
* GrappleMove: Her Heaven's Gate DM is a dashing grab where, if it connects, she'll drag the foe towards the wall before smashing them to said wall, akin to Rugal's Gigantic Pressure.
* KissOfDeath: Her HSDM Ecstasy 816 from ''2002'' ends with this right before her foe is caught in an explosive bolt of energy. She also blows a kiss to Rugal in the same way in their intro pose together.
* LovelyAngels: Has this dynamic with Vice, despite the two not necessarily being friends (although the ''[[DatingSim Days of Memories]]'' SpinOff series actually paints them in this light). They don't quite qualify for a full-on EvilDuo, as both women are actually sensible. In the same vein, they seem to straddle the line of being HeterosexualLifePartners. [[http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100416075332/snk/images/7/7e/Asecretaryslot.png Some]] [[http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080618025730/snk/images/c/c8/DoM_Mature_Vice.png artwork]] also plays up this aspect.
* [[EvilLaugh Maniacal Laugh]]: In a few of her desperation moves. Overlaps with NoblewomansLaugh.
* MarilynManeuver: Often done in her 96 outfit.
* MarkOfTheBeast: [[spoiler:Although it's hard to make out due to the sprites, her Neo MAX in ''XIII'' reveals that Mature has a snake-shaped birthmark on her right eye.]]
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: [[spoiler: She and Vice are a mix of Type 2 and Type 15. In life, they were devoted acolytes of Orochi until Iori accidentally killed them upon entering Riot of the Blood. However, due to the weakening seal on Orochi because of Those from the Distand Land and Ash's actions, they were brought back from the realm of the dead as "living shadows", as a sort of defense mechanism from Orochi, to make sure that their lord's will is done and that no one misuses or takes its power for their own. ''XIV'' also adds Type 16 to the mix. Despite Orochi technically being inside of Verse and released, they make no effort to stop Iori from re-sealing it, admitting in their own way that being around Iori [[ItAmusedMe is just too much fun]].]]
* PillarOfLight: Often appears in her desperation moves, and is a very common occurence in characters of the Orochi bloodline.
* RedOniBlueOni: She's the more demure and playful blue to Vice's red, who prefers toying with her foes until they die slowly. This is evidenced in XIV by the color of her earrings and fingernails.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: [[spoiler:In her [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG6jUFGdtXQ Awakening Blood Neo MAX]] from ''XIII'', Mature briefly takes off her eyepatch. Her eye turns red as she unleashes a crapload of Orochi power in an method similar to [[VideoGame/GuiltyGear Sol Badguy's]] All Guns Blazing). It is ''[[JustForPun dead]]'' sexy.]]
* [[RubberMan Rubber Woman]]: Her Deicide special in older games has her stretch her arm to grab a faraway opponent, then throws them behind her.
* SexySecretary: For Rugal back in 94 and 95.
* SexyWalk: Her standard walking animation in all of her appearances.
* ShesGotLegs: [[AllThereInTheManual She values her own legs]], and well, she ''does'' sport a pretty impressive pair.
* {{Shoryuken}}: Her Sacrilege special in older games.
* ShowSomeLeg: In a few poses of hers. [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything Clark obviously likes it]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImUwA_ZM-Vk#t=2m4s a bit too much.]]
* SignatureMove: Many of her moves are rather unique for her, but especially her Despair, Death Row, Ebony Tears specials and Nocturnal Lights DM.
* TheStarscream: In ''96'' She and Vice confess to Goenitz that they don’t give a damn about him, and the actually enjoyed the company of both Rugal and Iori.
* StatuesqueStunner: 177 cm tall. She is one of the tallest women in the series.
* SwordBeam: More like Hand Beam, but still, her Ebony Tears special is this.
* ThemeNaming: Her attacks are based on the names of heavy metal bands.
* ThreeStrikeCombo: Her Death Row special is a 3-hit rekka consisting of clawing attacks.
* TheVamp: Unlike the very straightforward and dirty-mouthed Vice, she relies on class and...
** SugaryMalice: She'll first act soft-spoken and a little flirty... then she'll verbally lash you out.

Most artwork seems to suggest the former, although her artwork from ''[[http://snk.wikia.com/wiki/File:Vice-2002.jpg 2002]]'' and ''[[http://snk.wikia.com/wiki/File:Vice-neowave.jpg Neowave]]'' imply the latter. [[spoiler:And then there's the case of her sprites in ''XIII''.]]
* AscendedExtra: Remember that woman who talked to Rugal in ''[='95=]''? ''That's'' Vice.
* AxCrazy: Oh ''yeah''! And by far the most violent female of the whole series, barring maybe Orochi Leona.
* BackFromTheDead: Like Mature above, she reappears in ''XIII'' and ''XIV''. [[spoiler:[[OurGhostsAreDifferent Same deal as Mature, too]].]]
* BadassInANiceSuit: Same case with Mature above, although substitute white with red.
* TheBaroness: When she isn't in [[AxCrazy psycho-bitch]] mode, that is.
* BerserkButton: Saisyu Kusanagi. She hates him due to all the trouble he caused for daring not to let himself be brainwashed by Vice. He is listed as her official dislike and she has a special intro against him in ''[='98=]'', where she says that just looking at him makes her mad, complete with a SpitefulSpit. In ''XIII'', she gets angry at Takuma for mentioning his name. According to some quotes from ''XIII'' and ''XIV'', she seems to hate middle-aged men in general.
* BoobsOfSteel: She has among the bigger boobs in the cast (bigger than her partner Mature) and her fighting style involves mainly smashing her foes around.
* BoyishShortHair: Although how short and how it's styled (i.e. short but straight, {{unkempt|Beauty}} and unruly bangs) [[DependingOnTheArtist depends on the artist]], her hair sometimes appears bobbed.
* ChristmasCake: She is canonically 27 years old and has no romantic relationship of any kind. She doesn't seem to mind this.
* ContraltoOfDanger: Her new voice actor in ''XIV'' gives her a deeper tone of voice, which fits well with her brutal and very physical fighting style.
* CleavageWindow: Same deal as Mature.
* CombatSadomasochist: So blatant, it's a wonder SNK didn't get called out for it.
* DarkActionGirl: The first evil female fighter in the series, along with Mature.
* {{Dominatrix}}: She's very attractive but also ''very'' domineering.
* FemmeFatalons: though she doesn't use it as often as Mature does.
* FoeTossingCharge: Her Mayhem special, which can be continued with her anti-air grabs.
* ForgivenButNotForgotten: In a sense. [[spoiler:Unlike Mature, [[EasilyForgiven who seems rather unfazed by her death at Iori's hands]], Vice still holds it against Iori (as revealed by her exchanges with Flames Iori) and, while she realizes dealing with Ash and Those from the Past takes priority, she wants to get all of her pent-up hostilities out of the way before they can work together.]]
* GoryDiscretionShot: Her new HSDM/MAX 2 in ''2002UM''. Also when Iori kills her, only their silhouettes can be seen.
* GrappleMove: specializes in this, as she also has a long-ranged grab (with Deicide), anti-air grab (with Misanthrope and Splash specials) and air-to-air grab (with Overkill).
* HairColorDissonance: It's usually easy to tell that she's a brunette, but [[spoiler:in ''XIII'', her hair is a bit more of a [[EvilRedhead chestnut]] color]].
* HairTriggerTemper: If you thought a ticked off Iori was bad, think of a crazy female Iori with constant PMS.
* HatesEveryoneEqually: The only possible exceptions being Mature and Iori.
* HiddenDepths: Pan-human Orochi minion, sadistic assassin, [[AllThereInTheManual comic book nerd.]] [[http://www.snkplaymore.co.jp/us/games/kof-xiv/characters/vice.php Seriously.]]
* ImAHumanitarian: Her ''2002 UM'' HSDM implies this. Heavily.
* InLoveWithYourCarnage: Yes, she's a sadistic, AxCrazy bitch, in case you hadn't figured out by now.
* LightningBruiser: She's exceptionally fast for a grappler and hits like a truck, too.
* LimpAndLivid: Her IdleAnimation in ''[='98=]''.
* LovelyAngels: She and Mature are rare ''evil'' variation of this trope (see Mature's entry for more details).
* [[EvilLaugh Maniacal Laugh]]: Except hers is ''way'' scarier than that of Mature.
* MarkOfTheBeast: [[spoiler:If ''XIII'' [[http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111002173911/snk/images/a/aa/Gallarycard183.png is any indication,]] Vice sports an Orochi tattoo on the back of her left shoulder.]]
* MeaningfulName: Her name refers to anything that is immoral. Given her [[TooKinkyToTorture lines]] [[SexIsViolence in]] [[OrgasmicCombat battle]], it's safe to assume that this refers to ''sexual'' impurity.
* MurderousThighs: Her Negative Gain DM is her doing a number of this.
* OmnicidalManiac: Whenever she enters her Orochi Blood Riot, she wants to kill ''everyone''.
* PillarOfLight: Often appears in her desperation moves, like other members of the Hakkeshu.
* ProgressivelyPrettier: Weirdly subverted/inverted. While Vice was always attractive, her ''stances'' have become more bizarre and creepy over the years. She's oft-kilter in ''[='98=]'' and zombie-like in ''2002''.
** And who can forget her introduction pose? You know the one where she crouches to all-fours and starts stretching and howling like a rutting she-wolf... Also a case of NeverLiveItDown.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Her default colour scheme, to go with her aggressive and violent persona.
* RedOniBlueOni: She's the more violent and sadistic red to Mature's blue, preferring to smash and destroy her foes to kill them quickly. This is evidenced in ''XIV'' by the color of her earrings and fingernails (aside from her obvious red vest).
* [[RubberMan Rubber Woman]]: Much like Mature, her Deicide special. The ''[[VideoGame/CapcomvsSNKMillenniumFight2000 Capcom vs. SNK]]'' series expands on this by giving Vice an anti-air version of the move.
* SexIsViolence: ''In spades''. She is much more overtly sexual in her poses and attitude than Mature.
* SexySecretary: Like Mature, she was this when working for Rugal, as you can see in ''[='95=]'' intermissions.
* SheCleansUpNicely: In quite a few pieces of artwork such as [[http://www.thekeep.org/~rpm/img/vice-mature.jpg this.]]
* ShipTease: Her XIV bio indicates that her interest in Iori is more than just professional.
* SignatureMove: Her Mayhem and Gorefest specials and Negative Gain and (to a lesser extent) Overkill [=DMs=].
* SpamAttack: Kick-based with her Outrage/Ravenous specials.
* TheStarscream: In ''96'' She and Mature confess to Goenitz that they don’t give a damn about him, and the actually enjoyed the company of both Rugal and Iori.
* StatuesqueStunner: She stands at 5'10'', or 1.78 meters tall.
* SuperStrength: Presumably due to her Orochi powers. Her hobby (lifting/bench pressing) is likely done to [[BoxingLessonsForSuperman amplify the effect]].
* ThemeNaming: same deal with Mature for her specials.
* {{Tomboy}}: To Mature with which she forms a classic TomboyAndGirlyGirl duo. She is indeed physically stronger, wears her hair short in additions to being ''much'' more violent and sexually provocative than Mature.
* TooSlow: Unlike Goenitz, her "Osoi!" is expectedly delivered with far less tact and delicacy.
* TheVamp: Unlike Mature who relies mainly on femininity and class to deceive her enemies, Vice mostly uses aggressive sexual provocations to distract her enemies... and then beat the shit out of them!
* WipeTheFloorWithYou- Her Gore Fest grab has her drag her foe along the ground before throwing them to the air.
* WrestlerInAllOfUs: Powerbombs are a part of her arsenal.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Kong Kuwata, Tom Bitler (''Maximum Impact'' series, English)

-> The BigBad and FinalBoss of pretty much every ''VideoGame/FatalFury'' game. Geese, along with [[DisappearedDad Jeff Bogard]], trained under [[OldMaster Tung Fu Rue]] in the art of Hakkyokuseiken. After learning that Jeff would inherit the style's secret arts, Geese left the school embittered, and swore revenge. He eventually became the most well-known mastermind in the criminal underground with his enterprise, the Howard Connection. He took control of Southtown after winning it over from Mr. Big and making him his underling. Afterwards, Geese finally got his revenge by killing Jeff Bogard in a vicious battle, and causing his sons to train under Tung for revenge. Over the course of several years he worked his way from police commissioner to mayor of Southtown. He decided to host the first King of Fighters tournament out of boredom, and faced Terry Bogard in the final battle after Terry defeated his right hand man Billy Kane. Geese lost and was given a swift boot out of the top floor of his tower, but somehow survived the fall.

-> In the King of Fighters timeline Geese is alive and well. He was also interested in the new version of the King of Fighters tournament that Rugal is hosting, Geese sends Billy in ''[='95=]'' to form the Rival Team and enact revenge upon the Bogard Bros. He resurfaced in ''[='96=]'', entering the King of Fighters tournament along with his half-brother Krauser and Mr. Big to learn more about the Orochi's power. Mr. Big, learning he was being used, attempted to assassinate Geese, but Billy arrived just in time to stop the sniper's bullet aimed at Geese's head. In ''[='97=]'' he chose Billy, Yamazaki, and Blue Mary to go and investigate the Orochi power further. Later that same year, in ''Fatal Fury 3'', he obtained the Jin Scrolls and once again held the King of Fighters tournament in Southtown. He faced Terry for the last time, and history repeated itself as Geese was once again sent out of his tower. Terry tried to save him, but Geese refused and fell. [[NeverFoundTheBody His body was never found]], but in the ''KOF Maximum Impact'' and ''Garou: Mark of the Wolves'' storylines he is KilledOffForReal, coming back as literal Nightmare Fuel. In ''2003'' he sponsors the Outlaw Team consisting of Yamazaki and Billy once again, as well as Gato. In ''XIV'' he once again participates in the King of Fighters tournament, along with Billy and his butler Hein.

He is Geese's half-brother and hosted the second King of Fighters tournament after hearing of Geese's disappearance. Krauser took the tourney worldwide, wanting to face the best of the best. In the king of fighters series Geese invited him to join a team Geese had formed for the ''[='96=]'' tournament. -->'''Portrayed by:''' Françoise Yip (live-action movie)

-> Possessor of the Yata Mirror and [[AncientTradition guardian of Orochi's seal]]. A wealthy businesswoman and Shinto priestess who hosted the ''[='96=]'' tournament in order to test the abilities of Kyo and Iori, to ensure the would be able to defeat Orochi if he was revived. Her twin older sister Maki was killed by Goenitz in order to weaken Orochi's seal, and her fond memories of her sister were used to manipulate her in the ''2003'' tournament by Botan, who used her to weaken Orochi's seal further. Her powers were then stolen by Ash Crimson, taking her out of the fight. She asked Shingo to form a team with Kyo and Iori in her place for the next tournament.

-> [[spoiler: After Ash's demise in ''[=XIII=]'', Chizuru regains her powers and teams up with Kyo and Iori in ''XV'' and once again form the Sacred Treasures Team.]]

* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Although she does become less aloof over time (thanks to the likes of her fellow Sacred Treasures members, the Women Fighters Team, and King's younger brother Jean), Chizuru does adhere pretty closely to this trope. Oh, and being a BarrierMaiden for a human-hating quasi-deity, trouble is ''always'' close behind.
* AmplifierArtifact: Holds the [[MagicMirror Yata-no]][[TheImperialRegalia -Kagami]] inside her body. [[spoiler:[[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything Ash pretty much gropes and violates her to steal it.]]]] [[spoiler: She regains it after Ash is wiped from existence in ''[=XIII=]''.]]
* AnimalMotifs: Exclusive to the ''Days of Memories'' series, [[http://images.wikia.com/snk/images/e/ef/Mature_%26_Chizuru.png Chizuru is represented by a fox while having a spat with Mature]] (who is, [[{{Orochi}} appropriately]], represented by the snake). Chizuru, however, doesn't seem to embody the traits most fox-like characters are known for. Alternatively, WordOfGod refers to the younger Kagura twin as a stork (despite Chizuru meaning "a thousand cranes"); a stork's attachment to their nesting site could correlate to [[MarriedToTheJob Chizuru's devotion towards maintaining the seal on Orochi]].
* AttackReflector: By the power of her mirror, she can reflect projectiles.
* BarrierMaiden: She and Maki.
* BigFancyHouse: ''KOF XIII''[='s=] backstory implies that she lives in a Japanese traditional home.
* BigGood: As she's the one who spurs Kyo and Iori into action against Orochi, she could be seen as this for the Orochi Saga.
** Also in ''KOF: Sky Stage''. She's the one who gives the player characters (Kyo, Iori, Kula, Athena, Mai and Terry) the ability to fly so they can close a temporal rift [[spoiler:caused by Orochi]] and rescue the fighters who have been caught on it.
* BikerBabe: In her free time, she ''loves'' riding motorcycles. She also had Maki, her sister, as her WrenchWench whose hobby was fixing Chizuru's motorbike, according to her profile.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: During ''2003''. She recovers, [[DemotedToExtra only to have Ash swoop down and steal her powers.]]
* BrokenBird: Had some traits early in the story, but recovered thanks to Mai, King and specially King's brother Jan.
* TheBusCameBack: She sat out the whole NESTS saga (since it has nothing to do with Orochi), and only temporarily came back in the early Tales of Ash Saga as a BrainwashedAndCrazy sub-boss only to be subdued and having to sit out of the whole saga ''again''... but she came back full force in ''XV'' and from the look of how the plots go, she doesn't look like she will be sitting out in the sidelines again.
* CatchPhrase: "Sa hajimemasho?" ("Well, then, shall we begin?")
* CompressedHair: In the ''KOF:KYO'' game. [[spoiler:As a part of her MasterOfDisguise stunt, she wore a short wig. When she reveals herself to Kyo, Athena and Kensou, she takes it off and they're surprised to see how long her actual hair is.]]
* {{Chickification}}: Unlike Iori, once Ash took away her power, she couldn't fight anymore and had her confidence shaken by the ordeal. [[DemotedToExtra Isn't it sad, Chizuru?]]
** In Ryo Takamisaki's ''KOF: G'', she not only isn't seen as the sub-boss (thus only acting as the BigGood, and ''as much'' she forcibly keeps a belligerent [[spoiler:Kensou]] under her thumb), but [[spoiler:''she's beaten to near death by Goenitz'']]. To be fair [[spoiler:Kensou]] also was horribly curb-stomped by him, but [[spoiler:poor Chizuru's injuries were so bad that she almost got StuffedIntoTheFridge, and she can barely ask [[AscendedExtra Athena]] to take her place.]]
* CombatStilettos: Years have gone by, and fans are ''still'' wondering how Chizuru can fight competently in heels like those.
* CynicismCatalyst: Maki's death was likely this judging by [[DefrostingIceQueen Chizuru's demeanor early on]].
* DanceBattler: Her fighting style resembles traditional Japanese dancing and Chizuru even breaks out into a funky jig in a few post-battle poses.
* DoppelgangerAttack: Many of her specials create a illusionary duplicate of her, either to attack or to confuse the opponent.
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles
%% Don't add Expy here. It goes in ShoutOut/TheKingOfFighters.
* HarmfulToMinors: In ''KOF:KYO'', [[spoiler:Maki was killed in front of Chizuru ''when both twins were 10 years old''. It was most likely disproved by ''2003'', but the flashback [[http://blueblood2.deviantart.com/art/KOF-Kyo-FINAL-STAGE-Page-7-285032146 with a terrified tiny!Chizuru]] in front of [[TeensAreMonsters a teenage!Goenitz]] is still very well-done.]]
* HairFlip: Does this in her intros, victory poses, and movesets.
* HiddenBuxom: While not as well-endowed as Mai, Angel, Blue Mary, or Shermie, Chizuru measures at 85 cm [[note]](roughly a C or an E in Japan, or a B or D in USA)[[/note]]. Who knew she was so stacked underneath all that shrine maiden clothing?
* LadyOfBlackMagic: An elegant {{miko}} with the powers of the Yata Mirror, such as creating shadows, mirror images, or reflecting attacks.
* LadyOfWar: Fight stylishly with Japanese-style dancing and illusionary powers.
* {{Leitmotif}}: For every appearance that she had a musical theme, Chizuru always received some rendition of "[[AwesomeMusic/{{SNK}} Fairy]]."
* LightIsGood: She wears white clothing and her powers as a priestess to come along with it.
%%* LongHairIsFeminine:
* MagicMirror: She gives [[http://youtu.be/z6gb6VCGwfs the Yata Mirror]] this use in ''KOF: KYO''. Specifically, when she spies on [[spoiler:Kyo and Orochi Iori's BattleInTheRain.]]
* MasterOfDisguise: Attempted in the ''KOF: KYO'' manga, [[spoiler:when Chizuru disguises herself as a reporter to approach Kyo without being identified. At first manages to fool Kyo's parents (though Saisyu still senses her BattleAura), but in her second try both Saisyu and Eiji unmask her ''very'' easily as the protector of the Orochi Seal.]]
* MasterOfIllusion: She can create copies of herself and the copies, when created, can only move, attack and disappear.
* MeaningfulName: Her surname, Kagura, is the same as [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kagura a traditional Shinto theatrical dance performed during festivals,]] hence her [[DanceBattler fighting style]]. Her ''true'' last name, Yata, stems from the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yata_no_Kagami Yata-no-Kagami,]] one of Japan's [[TheImperialRegalia Three Sacred Treasures]] which represents wisdom or honesty and was used to help lure the sun goddess Amaterasu out of a cave, thus bringing light back to the world. Guess what Chizuru does by helping [[SealedEvilInACan seal Orochi]].
* {{Miko}}: In one of her special intros in ''KOF '98'', she magically changes into her priestess kimono when fighting anyone linked to Orochi, then changes back.
** Also does this in her special intro in ''[='97=]'', but only against Orochi. She switches to her usual outfit and also says, "Well, then, let's end this."
** She puts on a similar attire in ''2003'' (complete with an [[CoolMask oni mask]]) before revealing herself to the players.
** She also wears robes [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/000srrzg_3376.png in a scene]] of ''KOF: KYO''.
* NoBadassToHisValet: She's probably the closest thing Iori has to this trope. She easily convinces him to team up with her and Kyo in ''2003'' and is personally visited by him before ''XIII'', promising to return her mirror in due time. [[ShippingGoggles Fans have picked up]] [[ShipTease on this]], [[BroodingBoyGentleGirl and for this reason]], Chizuru is one of the more popular het pairings for Iori.
* NonIdleRich: The woman's ''loaded'', and she works as hard as she can in both maintaining her business and dealing with the KOF tournament.
* {{Ojou}}: Starts as the DefrostingIceQueen type, but quickly switches to the ProperLady version.
* PowerNullifier: One of her [=DMs=] actually seals her opponent's specials and supers for a brief period of time. Her ''2003'' LDM (Third of the Trinity) combines this with her illusory dancing body doubles.
* ProperLady: She is a well mannered individual, who speaks in a calm and collected tone.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: Very pale, very dark-haired, and very beautiful.
* Reflector: 108-Katsu Tamayura no Shitsune.
* RuleOfSymbolism: Like the leader of the old Yata clan shown in ''98'', she has a twin; it's as if it's a requirement for the bearers of Yata Mirror to be ''mirror images'' of each other.
* [[SelfMadeMan Self-Made Woman]]: She toiled for a decade to become [[HonestCorporateExecutive a successful businesswoman and the owner of her own enterprise]]. For the record, she was no more than ''twelve'' when Maki was murdered.
* SensorCharacter: Thanks to her Yata mirror, she can speak into other peoples minds and can also temporarily possess people.
* Shoryuken: Her 100-Katsu Tenjin no Kotowari.
* SNKBoss: She was a lot more powerful (and cheap) in ''[='96=]'' but has since been depowered after becoming a selectable character.
** She got her boss status back in ''2003'', where you must fight both her ''and'' an illusion of her sister Maki. Subverted because she's not the SNKBoss this time, '''Maki''' is.
* {{Synchronization}}: For the DualBoss fight against Chizuru and Maki, [[SharedLifeMeter they share a three-tier healthbar]]. In other words, if one sister falls, the other goes down with her. [[SNKBoss As for making one fall...]]
** Her and Maki's illusions also share this trait; you can smack around one of their body doubles and damage the woman from across the screen.
* TeamMom: Chizuru can keep Iori and Kyo from killing each other ''and'' can get them to [[TeethClenchedTeamwork work together]]. 'Nuff said.
** Not only that, but [[ThinkNothingOfIt Iori's interactions with her]] are among the very few ones where he's ''somewhat'' less of an aloof jerk to others.
** And apparently Kyo can't deny her lots of things either, as proved in ''Sky Stage''; if not for Chizuru asking him to join the rescue group, he'd likely not be there. He even lampshades it if he talks to Terry after the fight with [[spoiler:a mid-boss Kusanagi (whom Chizuru sent as a test of character)]]; Kyo says he feels she's looking after them a bit too much, and Terry replies that he believes "she's just worried."
** Lampshaded in the third back-cover of ''KOF: G'', which features Kyo and Iori as [[FunSize Chibis]] in fighting stances... and an ''adorable'' Chibi!Chizuru is trying to stop them.
* {{Telepathy}}: With the power of the Yata Mirror, Chizuru can speak into peoples minds and temporarily possess people.
* {{Twincest}}: Sure, Chizuru was BrainwashedAndCrazy in ''2003'', but she and Maki seem to be a bit ''too'' attached to each other, as you can see in artwork, cutscenes, and their respective [[DeathCryEcho knockout cries]].
--> '''Chizuru''': "[[UsefulNotes/JapaneseSiblingTerminology NEE-SAMA]]!!"
--> '''Maki''': "[[SayMyName CHIZURU]]!!"
* WhenSheSmiles: In the Women Fighters Team ending in ''[='97=]'', thanks to the encouraging words of her departed sister's spirit.
* YamatoNadeshiko: [[http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100913131343/snk/images/0/01/ChizuruKagura.jpg As if this lovely kimono wasn't an indication.]]

->''"Are you listening to me? God's not on your side."''

-->'''Voiced by:''' Yoshinori Shima (''KOF '96, '98 UM, 2002 UM''), Susumu Akagi (''KOF All Star'')

->One of the [[FourIsDeath Four Heavenly Kings of Orochi]], Goenitz possesses the ability to control the wind. He is the one who killed Chizuru's twin sister Maki and awakened Leona's Orochi blood, causing her to completely obliterate her entire village. He also gave Rugal a portion of Orochi's power after Rugal withstood the pain of having his right eye gouged out. He tries to kill Kyo, Iori, and Chizuru in the ''[='96=]'' tournament, but fails and ends up being dealt a fatal blow by Iori. It's implied that his spirit escapes, though.

* TheAce: He is an immensely powerful fighter and the strongest of the Four Heavenly Kings of Orochi. At the age of eighteen he easily defeated Rugal, who was one of the strongest fighters in the series, with a single blow.
* ArchEnemy: To Chizuru. Out of all the heirs of the three clans that sealed Orochi, Chizuru is the most personal enemy after he killed her twin sister.
* ArcVillain: Of ''96''. He appears to be a priest doing some good all over the world, but he’s actually the leader of the Hakkesshu and the leader of the four heavenly kings, as he was looking for a way to revive the god-like being, Orochi.
* BadassBookworm: His sideline waiting animation involves him reading a book (it might be some sort of holy scripture) while wearing ScaryShinyGlasses. The next thing you know, '''[[BlowYouAway KOKO DESU KA?]]'''
* BadassFingersnap: During both of his RazorWind specials. Bonus points for [[BadassBack turning away from his opponent]] before letting his winds rip them to shreds.
* BadassPreacher: You can't deny it. Of course, when we say {{God}}, we mean {{Orochi}}. And with that said, the two are probably interchangeable in Goenitz's eyes, given the "This is God's punishment" line he drops at the beginning of both versions of his Shin Ya Otome.
* BackFromTheDead: In XIV, it’s implied that Goenitz is one of the many souls that was released from verse after his defeat.
* BeardOfEvil: A quite impressive goatee.
* BlowYouAway: His elemental power among the Heavenly Kings is wind. He is (in)famous for his Yonokaze move as well as his Yamidoukoku DM. His arrival in the final moments of '''96'' is heralded by a gust of wind destroying the stadium around him.
* CatchPhrase: "'''KOKO DESU KA?'''"
* ClothingCombat: One of his normals sees Goenitz doing little more than whacking you with his robes.
* TheComputerIsACheatingBastard: In ''KOF '96'' [[MyRulesAreNotYourRules he could do desperation moves without having to fill his power gauge.]]
** Also, if [[AIRoulette his AI entered a loop]], he would continually use his Tornado Summon move over and over, making him completely unbeatable and forcing you to forfeit the round.
* CrystalDragonJesus: He is pretty much a Catholic priest, except that he serves Orochi and not the Abrahammic God. He does however, refer to his deity as "God" in his winquotes.
* TheDragon: To Orochi, as he is the Strongest member of the Hakkeshu, and the leader of his clan in his lord’s absence.
* DragonInChief: He leads the Hakkeshu in Orochi’s absence. Goenitz travels the world to try and find a way to revive his master and carry’s out his plan to wipe out humanity.
* DramaticWind: This can be seen subtly in his standing animation, where the wind breezes through his cloak.
* EvilCounterpart: Somewhat. Similar to the other three Heavenly Kings, he has a "dark" version of one of the main characters' fighting styles and one of or two of their signature techniques. In Goenitz's case, he's well-known for his "true" versions of several of Iori's techniques, mainly being the [[ThreeStrikeCombo Aoihana (Hollyhock Flower; Goenitz's version is named Seiran/Holy Riot)]], Kototsuki (Harp Moon) and [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown Ya Otome (Eight Maidens)]]. Not many people know how he even has such variations of the Yasakani martial arts, but when you factor in how the deal with Orochi might make the Yasakani clan develop new techniques...
* FacePalmOfDoom: His Yami Doukouku DM (Darkness Lamentation), wherein Goenitz picks up his opponent by the head and, bearing a SlasherSmile and [[EvilLaugh laughing]], traps them inside a tornado at point-blank range as he bids them farewell.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He acts polite and courteous to his opponents, though his pre-battle quotes in '''96'' and most of his series winquotes don't hide his true intentions and contempt for his foes.
* FingerWag: He nonchalantly does this ''and'' snickers while performing a back roll.
* FlashStep: Using the wind, of course.
-->"[[TooSlow Osoi desu ne.]]"
* GenderFlip: The infamous [[http://snk.fandom.com/wiki/Goeniko Goeniko]] fad, which stemmed from his Midnight Bliss form in ''SVC Chaos''. Notable in that she actually showed up as an official character in the pachinko games.
* GhostAmnesia: In a non-canonical story, his ghost meets up with Ninon Beart from ''Maximum Impact 2''. Goenitz can't remember anything but seems to recognize the mention of his title: the wildly-blowing wind.
* GratuitousForeignLanguage: Sorta. The movesets for him and the other Heavenly Kings (Yashiro, Shermie, and Chris) are written in [[TheBackwardsR Cyrillic]].
** His Shin Ya Otome techniques subvert the writing style; only the "Shin Ya Otome" parts are written clearly in kanji.
* GreaterScopeVillain: He is this of the first two King of Fighters games as Goenitz is responsible for many things, such as killing leona’s parents, murdering Chizuru’s older twin sister, giving Rugal a piece of Orochi’s power and setting Rugal up as a candidate for Orochi’s return.
* HellishPupils: Before fighting him, his pupils turn into slits in the cutscene.
* {{Herald}}: When he showed up, things would never be the same in the ''KOF'' world. One could argue that he's the catalyst of most things that's gone wrong in this series.
* HighPriest: Presumably this for Orochi's ReligionOfEvil. At any rate, he's been the most active in reviving his master, working from the shadows for at least ten years.
* HostageSituation: Stages one in the ''KOF:KYO'' manga's last volume. [[spoiler:He first captures Iori and gets him in a CrucifiedHeroShot in the middle of the teen cast's SchoolFestival, then tells Kyo to fight him. When Chizuru intervenes and says that Kyo will be ready in two days, he accepts the truce but takes both Iori ''and'' Yuki with him...]]
* IcyBlueEyes: Before the battle with him in '''96'', there's a close-up of menacing blue eyes as his pupils turn into slits.
* ItIsPronouncedTroPAY: Based on the Japanese spelling of his name, it's pronounced "gay-nits." Based on the spelling and German pronunciation, it should be somewhere between "gurnits" and "guhnits," similar to Karl Doenitz from UsefulNotes/WorldWarII. That is, unless he's friends with John Boehner.
* KarmicDeath: In the past he has activated Leona's Riot of the Blood to kill her village after her father refused to carry on his plans. Years later, he tries this again in Iori to kill Kyo and Chizuru and it winds up getting him killed when Iori attacks ''him'' instead and gives Kyo enough time to finish him.
* KnightTemplar: Nothing dissuades him from his belief on Orochi's righteousness. One of his winquotes in ''2002 UM'' even has him telling his opponent that God (or Orochi) is not on his/her side.
* MulticoloredHair: His [[AwesomeMusic/{{SNK}} theme song, "Trash Head"]] [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] this. Similar to Yamazaki, the top of his hair is blonde.
* NeckLift: During one of his throws (complete with strangulation followed by a chokeslam), as well as his Yami Doukoku (Darkness Lamentation), his Shin Ya Otome: Mizuchi DM (True Eight Maidens: Water Blood) and its SDM equivalent, Shin Ya Otome: Jissoukoku (True Eight Maidens: Cruelties of True Reality).
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: At the end of the day, Goenitz and Goenitz alone [[WhyDontYouJustShootHim is responsible]] [[HoistByHisOwnPetard for his own defeat]]. Although he succeeded in breaking Orochi's seal by taking Maki's life, by not killing Chizuru (the weaker of the Kagura twins, may we add), he gave Chizuru a ''decade's'' worth of time to devise countermeasures and regroup the splintered descendants of the Three Sacred Treasures. While he [[CurbStompBattle easily made an example out of Kyo]] (whose ego had overinflated thanks to his two victories over Rugal), by not finishing what he started, Goenitz allowed Kyo to undergo introspection, causing him to mellow out a bit ''and'' develop a variety of powerful new moves to add to his style. Part of this, however, stems from what seems to be Goenitz's attempt at PragmaticVillainy in regards to accomplishing his goal to resurrect his master. His GracefulLoser status in all but the canonical ending could also be viewed as [[MyDeathIsJustTheBeginning an implicit understanding that the remaining Heavenly Kings will simply pick up where he left off]]; as long as Orochi is again amongst the living, the individual steps are mere technicalities.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Just take a look at his [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPjDesWqG6s stage.]] That was a perfectly good stadium before his arrival.
* RazorSharpHand: Much like Iori, he can use his hands as claws, as shown in the Shinyaotome-Mizuchi DM.
* RazorWind: His His Yonozake has the "slash" sound effect when connecting with the enemy. Also his Wanpyou Tobokuze and Wanpyou Mametzu moves.
* SexyPriest: Quite a fair-looking priest, even with graying hair.
* SinisterMinister: Looks suspiciously like a Catholic priest. He's quite sane, fortunately, and detests demonic entities such as [[VideoGame/{{Darkstalkers}} Demitri Maximov]] and [[VideoGame/GhostsNGoblins Red Arremer]].
* SNKBoss: Even in ''KOF 98: UM'', where he's said to be arguably worse.
** Subverted in ''KOF 2002: UM''; before people started unlocking him, many players expected him to be of boss level, but he lost the SNKBoss traits in this incarnation, and plays more like he did in ''SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos''.
** This is actually part of a strange DoubleSubversion of sorts. Goenitz was a midboss in ''SVC Chaos'', and was originally ported to the [=PS2=] and Xbox versions of the original ''2002''. In ''SVC'' he was less cheaper than his original form, but still overpowered. These issues were, unfortunately, left intact in his original ''2002'' appearance, but ''2002UM'' corrected these errors, and made him a high-tier secret character instead.
* TooSlow: His "Osoi desu ne" is expectedly delivered with more tact and delicacy in contrast to Vice.
* TornadoMove: His [[SignatureMove ever-popular Yonokaze]] has him summoning a tornado at a point on the stage that blows the opponent up. His Yami Doukoku special and his [=DMs=] also create mini tornadoes.
* UndyingLoyalty: He is extremely loyal to his master Orochi.
* VerbalTic: Most of his in-game quotes feature the word "desu" in them (this was long before ''Manga/RozenMaiden'', [[MemeticMutation mind you]]), highlighting some degree of affability.
* VillainousBreakdown: The [[http://www.vgmuseum.com/end/neogeo/b/kof96god.htm Three Sacred Treasure's ending]] (which is the canonical ending) has Goenitz screaming about why the wind isn't blowing after Kyo and Iori deliver the coup de grace on him.

* LimpAndLivid[=/=]PrimalStance: As Orochi Leona.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Masae Yumi

* {{Bokukko}}
* EloquentInMyNativeTongue: See GratuitousEnglish below.
--> ''"Slow down--don't understand meaning..."''

--> '''Voiced by:''' Masae Yumi (''[='96=]'' to ''XIII''), Mayumi Sako (''XIV'', Japanese)
-->'''Portrayed by:''' Bernice Liu (live-action movie)

-> One of the servants of Orochi. She, along with Mature, was assigned by Goenitz to watch over Rugal in case he overused his Orochi power, but [[KarmicDeath he did]], and both of them were reassigned to watch Iori Yagami. Vice returned once again in ''XIV'', likely involved with the supernatural air surrounding the new KOF tournament held by Antonov, [[spoiler:the cause of which is Verse]]. Her Orochi power is mind control and hypnosis.

* AmbiguouslyBrown[=/=]ButNotTooBlack: She's one of the two.
* SpamAttack: Kick-based with her Outrage/Ravenous specials.

* BarrierMaiden: She and Maki.
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles
--> '''Chizuru''': "[[UsefulNotes/JapaneseSiblingTerminology NEE-SAMA]]!!"
--> '''Maki''': "[[SayMyName CHIZURU]]!!"

* CatchPhrase: "'''KOKO DESU KA?'''"
-->"[[TooSlow Osoi desu ne.]]"

* AntiVillain ([[SlidingScaleOfAntiVillains Type I]]): His code of honor means he will always fight with his full power, showing no quarter to his opponents, even when their lives are at risk. However, he holds himself to this code fervently, and is a cultured soul who respects any opponent he considers worthy.
* ArmorIsUseless: He comes to the fight wearing some impressive armor, only to break it off his body in one movement during his intro.
* BadassCape: Has one to go with his armor.
* BadassMustache
* BigFancyCastle: Mittelbirge Castle. More of its confines are shown in ''Fatal Fury 2'' and ''Fatal Fury Special'', although the canalside stadium that serves as the backdrop for the Boss Team in ''[='96=]'' presumably is situated in/near the Stroheim family's palace.
* CulturedBadass: He's a true gentleman with an appreciation for Mozart. He will also beat seven kinds of hell out of you in the ring.
* DisappearedDad: [[spoiler:Fought [[SelfMadeOrphan and killed his (and Geese's) own father]] for the rights to become Earl. He honors his father one day a year by playing Mozart on his organ.]]

* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has a "X" across his forehead, but in no way is he a [[XMarksTheHero hero]].
* GratuitousEnglish: KOF All Star gives him a Japanese voice actor, and his English becomes more broken.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: A [[http://snk.fandom.com/wiki/File:Krauser-suit.jpg promotional artwork]] for ''KOF '96'' shows him walking in the countryside [[PetTheDog with two Dobermann dogs]]. * KamehameHadoken: His Kaiser Wave DM is him throwing a very fast, powerful projectile from his hands. In ''98'' it can be charged to be {{unblockable|Attack}}.
* LetsFightLikeGentlemen: As already established, in the confines of a match, there is no room for restraint and Krauser will call upon all of his strength to win, which he sees as a form of honor. However, if this weren't a fight he'd gladly sit down and share a glass of wine with you.
* LightningBruiser: Very fast, even with the armor on, and hits pretty hard.
* PublicDomainSoundtrack: Mozart's Requiem in D minor, K626. The legendary Dies Irae portion is used in ''VideoGame/FatalFury 2'', ''[[UpdatedRerelease Special]]'', ''KOF '96'', and ''KOF '98 Ultimate Match''. While the Lacrimosa portion is used in ''Real Bout Fatal Fury Special'' and ''[[UpdatedRerelease Real Bout 2]]''.
* ShirtlessScene: When he breaks out of that armor.
* SNKBoss: In the old ''VideoGame/FatalFury'' games.
* SpiritedCompetitor: He's somewhere between this and a BloodKnight, albeit much closer to the former.
* SurprisinglyGoodEnglish: Has an actual English VA to portray him. His DramaticWind line is probably the best known example.
* TornadoMove: His Gigantic Cyclone SDM.
* WickedCultured: As [[WebVideo/TwoBestFriendsPlay the Best Friends Zaibatsu]] puts it, he hires a full orchestra to play Mozart's Requiem while he whoops your ass.
* WrestlerInAllOfUs: Many of his throws, specials, and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMMJkvY4OUc this beta DM]] that was DummiedOut resemble basic pro-wrestling techniques such as dropkicks and powerbombs.
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have Purple Hair]]: And mustache, too.

However, he holds himself to this code fervently, and is a cultured soul who respects any opponent he considers worthy.
* ArmorIsUseless: He comes to the fight wearing some impressive armor, only to break it off his body in one movement during his intro.
* BadassCape: Has one to go with his armor.
* BadassMustache
* BigFancyCastle: Mittelbirge Castle. More of its confines are shown in ''Fatal Fury 2'' and ''Fatal Fury Special'', although the canalside stadium that serves as the backdrop
->See Characters/FatalFury2 for the Boss Team in ''[='96=]'' presumably is situated in/near the Stroheim family's palace.
He honors his father one day a year by playing Mozart
tropes on his organ.]]
* DramaticWind: During his [[BadassBoast iconic]] "[[PreAsskickingOneLiner I'll chisel your gravestone!]] [[LargeHam Sleep well!]]" intro in ''[='98UM=]'' when put up against any ''Fatal Fury'' original ([[GuestFighter or]] [[VideoGame/ArtOfFighting Ryo]]).
* FingerlessGloves: A nice looking pair of red ones are under his gauntlets.
* {{Fireballs}}: His Blitz Ball special has him throwing these, either at high or low elevation.
That, and as already said, he's a rather pleasant and noble person [[LetsGetDangerous unless you're his opponent]].

* ArchEnemy: To the Bogard brothers after killing their adoptive father.
* ArchnemesisDad: Now that Rock has joined ''The King of Fighters'' as of ''XIV'', Geese takes his place as the focus of his son's burning disdain brought on by the abandonment suffered by Rock's mother and Geese's ex-wife. Prior to this he and Rock also appeared together in the AlternateContinuity ''KOF: Maximum Impact 2''/''The King of Fighters 2006''. In both instances if Rock and Geese are pitted against each other they will exchange words in a special intro scene.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Somewhat of a subversion. Geese actually does have discipline, but unless you earn his respect, you're worthless scum to him and he'll gladly beat the shit out of you to demonstrate how much you suck compared to him.
* BadassArmFold: He does this pose as his VictoryPose.
* BadassBaritone: His voice is ''menacingly'' deep, as should be expected of one of the biggest and baddest names in SNK history.
* BadassInANiceSuit: Like Billy, his "Another" outfit is Geese's business attire.
* BattleAura: He has a constant blue/purple aura surrounding him in his "Nightmare Geese" form.
** From ''Real Bout Fatal Fary 2'' onward, he briefly gains one while performing his Rashoumon.
* BenevolentBoss: No joke. He's shown to treat his subordinates fairly and with the utmost respect, which is part of why Billy [[VillainousFriendship actively enjoys working for Geese]].
* BonusBoss: In ''2002: Unlimited Match'', Geese is the last Expert challenge of the Challenge Mode.
* BringIt: Easily his most iconic pose and taunt.
-->''Come on!''
* ConfusionFu: He gains a new move in ''XIV'' called Fudou Ken which has followups that can hit either low or overhead.
* CounterAttack: Roughly one-third of his moveset revolves around attack reversals and throws. Luckily for you, these moves have been toned down from their ThatOneAttack status in the original ''Fatal Fury'', where he'd counter everything, even ''you jumping towards him''.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeB-4s1Cho4 PREDICTABO!]]
** ''XIV'' even adds a counter move as his DM, called Oni Hanmon.

* DoesNotLikeShoes: He instead prefers to wear tabi, [[OccidentalOtaku symbolizing his fascination with Japanese culture.]] The DLC Nightmare Geese skin has him barefoot.

* FlungClothing: In some of his intros, he'll be shown wearing an elaborate haori that gets taken off. In games where his in-game sprite or model is a WalkingShirtlessScene, he'll throw off his dogi top instead.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has a particularly nasty one on his back (from his [[DisneyVillainDeath fall]] in ''Fatal Fury'') as well as another one going across his chest.
* GrappleMove: His Rashomon DM has him fling his opponent upward, then gathers energy around his body and then does a mean straight punch at the foe as they're falling down.

* NighInvulnerability: Let's face it: when you can survive a fall from a 50-story building (TWICE, depending on the continuity), you are most definitely this.
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: '''[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Nightmare Geese]]'''. Both the actual one (at least in ''Maximum Impact'') and the DLC skin you get for Geese when you digitally pre-order ''KOF XIV''. It's Geese as a zombie with glowing red eyes, decaying skin, a completely disheveled and tattered gi, and a VoiceOfTheLegion. The artwork released for the skin even has his facial expression as a SlasherSmile.
* NobleDemon: Zig-zagged. Against many others, Geese is pretty much a textbook scumbag, using manipulation and any other means necessary to reach his goal, and is not above murder, not to mention that he's very much a CorruptCorporateExecutive. However, if someone earns his respect, then he damn well will show it genuinely. He also treats his subordinates very fairly and respectfully, and has a personal sense of honor when it comes to direct combat, the only time he'd ever dismiss that is when he killed Jeff.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: His Deadly Rave LDM/HSDM is a Ranbu-style super move.
* NoOneCouldSurviveThat: Again, the tower schtick. Unless they NeverFoundTheBody.
* OccidentalOtaku: Possibly, although the hints are stronger with his transition between ''Art of Fighting 2'' and ''Fatal Fury'' in the other timeline.
** The "Southtown" stage in ''XIV'' clearly takes place at the top of Geese Tower and amidst all the Oriental-themed decorations you can spot some American flag banners too so this side of his personality still exists in the ''KOF'' timeline.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: Ever since ''[='97=]'', he's been this, sitting in his office giving Billy orders. WordOfGod states that they have no plans to put him in ''XIII'' as DLC because he wouldn't fit the system, although fandom speculates that it's actually for the same reason they won't let his son Rock be in a canon ''KOF'' game: they want to respect the original ''Fatal Fury'' team, who were laid off from SNK when they went bankrupt.
** Finally averted in ''KOFXIV'' where Geese is once again playable, in a non-DreamMatchGame to boot.
* ParentalAbandonment[=/=]ParentalNeglect: ''Big time'' towards Rock. Geese's refusal to help his family, which was kept secret so as to not leave weaknesses for his enemies to exploit, resulted in his wife working herself to death, and both his son and brother-in-law Kain's eternal hatred.
** Ironically, Geese hated ''his'' father for the ''exact same reasons'' that Rock hates him: [[spoiler:His dad left him and his mother to fend for themselves in Southtown as he went to Europe to lead the Stroheim family. When his mother Maria died, Geese even tried to kill his dad, but was stopped by half-brother Krauser.]] LikeFatherLikeSon, eh, Geese?
* PillarOfLight: While it's usually a Cage or Claw of Light, the SDM variant of his Raging Storm actually took on this form in ''[='96=]''.
** Not the case in ''XIV'', where his Raging Storm is now an energy cyclone.
* PlayingWithFire: [[RuleOfCool For some odd reason]], Geese's Level 3 version of his Deadly Rave in the ''[=CvS=]'' titles has the final hit setting the opponent ablaze with [[TechnicolorFire purple flames]].
* PunchedAcrossTheRoom: His Rashoumon (Thin Life Gate). More accurately, it's "Thrown into the Air and Then Double Palm Strike Ki Blasted Halfway across the Screen with a Row of Kanji in the Background."
* PutOnABus: Ever since ''[='96=]'', players have expected him to make a playable appearance. Yet aside from the home ports of ''2002'' and ''XI'', ''98UM'',''Neowave'' and ''2002UM'', SNK never put him in any of the other games.
** TheBusCameBack: As ''XIV'' is a canonical game, it will be Geese's first canon appearance in the series since 1996.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: As Nightmare Geese. Coupled with GlowingEyesOfDoom in ''2002: Unlimited Match'''s artwork.
* SayMyName: Gets this ''a lot'' from [[YouKilledMyFather Terry and Andy]]. [[ParentalAbandonment And Rock]].
* SchrodingersCast: Has been dead in the ''VideoGame/FatalFury'' storyline since 1996, but in ''KOF'' he is still alive and well.

* SelfMadeMan: Everything Geese earned, he used any means necessary to take it for himself, even if it meant staining his hands with blood and making many enemies along the way.
* ShockAndAwe: His Raimei Gouha Nage special throw and his Thunder Break DM.
* {{Shoryuken}}: His Hisho Nichirin Zan special in older games is similar to Terry's Power Dunk in that he knocks his opponent up as he rises, then does a slicing arm attack that knocks the foe back down.
* SignatureMove: Many of his moves are memorable, but special mention goes to Reppuuken, his counter throws and Rising Storm.
* SlasherSmile: Although he's usually a SmugSmiler, his Nightmare incarnation has this as his default expression.
* SNKBoss: The ''other'' TropeCodifier along with Rugal. Geese actually predates Rugal by a couple of years, having set the original standard for cheap fighting game bosses until Rugal came along and one-upped him with even more unfair abilities.
* SomeDexterityRequired: For a long time, his Rising Storm comes with a command rarely seen in other ''KOF'' characters (let alone in other fighting games): down-back, half-circle back, down-forward (or, if you prefer, 1-63214-3) + certain attack buttons; called "the Pretzel" as you're basically drawing a pretzel with the command. Averted in ''XIV'' where the command changes to the more common "quarter circle backward, half-circle forward + 2 punch buttons".
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: His GroundPound energy move (S)DM has been either called Rising Storm or Raging Storm.
* SpiritedCompetitor: Despite having ulterior motives for entering ''KOF'', it's no secret that Geese enjoys his time even if his opponents tend to not put up much of a fight against him.
* TheSyndicate: Howard Connection is this, although Geese [[VillainWithGoodPublicity fools the people]] by using his seemingly benevolent actions and the police force as a front.
* TornadoMove: In ''XIV'' his Raging Storm is depicted as a tornado around him like his son's version. Unlike Rock's Raging Storm, however, Geese's is ''much'' bigger and significantly more powerful.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Rare steak.
* ThreeStrikeCombo: His Jaei Ken special in older games has him strike 3 times if the initial move hits. In ''XIV'' he replaces this move with the Fudou Ken which has three different followups depending on the second input entered.
* UndeathlyPallor: The Nightmare Geese skin in ''XIV'' depicts Geese as a decaying zombie with pale blue skin.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: All of Nightmare Geese's dialogue in ''XIV'' is filtered with a warping effect.
* WaistcoatOfStyle: Worn by his younger version, the final boss of ''Neowave''.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: While his previous KOF appearances keep his dogi top on, in ''Maximum Impact'' and ''XIV'' he either has no top or has his dogi undone and flung around the waistline of his hakama pants. [[WordOfGod The developers have admitted]] that this is done out of tribute to how he looked in the ''VideoGame/FatalFury'' games.

** AwesomeButImpractical: Getting it to trigger is a task though as once you activate it, you have to connect an Atemi Nage (any that you like) and against an opponent that fights back, it's difficult to predict it and act accordingly. Be thankful though that you have infinite time to do so here. Its spiritual predecessor via the original Raging Dead End in ''Fatal Fury Wild Ambition'' had a time limit that, after it ran out, thanks to that game's power bar mechanics, meant that the next hit connected on Geese would stun him, no questions asked.
