In ''Legends'', she became a full-fledged Jedi Knight and directly battled the forces of the dark side alongside Luke, though this was after several decades of being an on-and-off Jedi. In the new canon, she chose not to complete her training after receiving a vision of her future, particularly the fate of her son. However, that decision only took place on the literal last night of her training, so she was a Jedi in all but name. Even decades later, she's still an accomplished general and remains very strong in the Force, somehow training Rey in techniques that most Jedi masters spend years to learn.
* AscendedToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: Following her death, she becomes one with the Force and is reunited with her brother (and possibly her son).

Considering the situation at hand, you would think that she would be more fair in the matter. Even more, the Resistance would have still been doomed afterwards had it not been for Luke and Rey's last-minute intervention with their immense Force powers.

** The same can also be said for "The Last Jedi", where she admonishes Poe for reckless behavior, while praising Holdo's strategy. Considering the situation at hand, you would think that she would be more fair in the matter.
** To a lesser extent, one would think that with all of Leia's abilities in the Force (surviving a huge explosion and flying through space, teaching advanced Force techniques, calling out to others from several light years), the First Order would be more wary of her. Yet, at no point do any them fear the damage she could cause.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: In ''The Force Awakens''; particularly demonstrated when Finn tells her about Rey's capture. She says she will do "everything in my power" to help save her, even though Rey is of little to no tactical importance [[note]] they don't yet know of her Force-sensitivity [[/note]], but first, he needs to tell her everything he knows about Starkiller Base. She's a bit more obstructive to the heroes in ''The Last Jedi'', especially to Poe, but that's mostly because they keep going rogue and messing up ThePlan. Even so, her interference is benevolent, as she's trying to protect them. In ''The Rise of Skywalker'' she has reservations about Rey, Poe, and Finn's plan to find Exegol, but allows them to go on the mission when they persuade her it's their best chance of stopping the Emperor and First Order.

** The same can also be said for "The Last Jedi", where her carelessness ended up causing Poe and several others to mutiny from a misguided attempt to save themselves. Had she explained things more clearly, this could have been entirely avoided. Yet, at no point does she even admit her mistakes.
