* CovertPervert: Asmodeus accuses Maria of this when she captures her in Episode 3, and after drugging Maria with a powerful aphrodisiac in one of the specials, she finds out that she was right. ''[[GoneHorriblyRight Incredibly]]'' [[GoneHorriblyRight right, as a matter of fact:]] [[https://i1.wp.com/fapservice.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/vlcsnap-2017-12-21-13h31m58s244.png without her inhibitions, sweet, innocent Maria is a bigger freak than the Demon Lord of Lust.]]

* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Arguably, since she is both blonde and [[spoiler: while she’s not pro-actively or conventionally heroic, she is the one Angel in all of Heaven who is always on humanity’s side, to the point that she accepts being banished so that she could keep fighting to save both Earth and Hell from the purge of Heaven.]]

* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: DownplayedTrope. As a demon lord she does have many crimes on her name, but like the other Sins she is mostly a PunchClockVillain. When she is not engaging in BDSM-style sexual torture or conning people desperate to escape their own personal problems out of all their assets, she does have her good points. [[spoiler:She is the most polite and courteous of the demon lords, being the only one of them who bothered to be civil to Leviathan when she and Lucifer gatecrashed Pandemonium in episode 1, while the other girls either harangued her or ignored her. In the same episode, she is the first to defy Belial by refusing to torture a helpless Lucifer and expected/encourages the other girls to do the same. In her own focus episode, while she does trick her followers into running away from their own problems by giving her all of their assets in exchange for being the hypnotized babysitters of her babies for eternity, she at least tries to give them the feeling, albeit illusory, of being happy and content. And of course, she really loves her own kids, and in official art, is also shown as acting maternally toward both Beelzebub and Belphegor too, the two youngest and most childish of her fellow demon lords.]]

* LaboriousLaziness: About the only thing that can get Belphegor moving is the prospect of becoming more comfortable, and she will go to frankly incredible lengths to that end: one of the specials has her going out to buy a bottle of sake she wanted to try because he didn't want to wait for delivery, and then personally catching a humongous fish to make sashimi to go with it. The last scene is her zonked out beneath sakura trees, happy as a clam.

* {{Pride}}: [[CaptainObvious Well, yeah]]. While this is portrayed as a possible weakness early in the series (her UnderestimatingBadassery during her first confrontation with the Mortal Sins), Lucifer's high opinion of herself is also her greatest strength, as it refuses to allow her to accept second best and [[{{Determinator}} drives her to never give up]].

* ExplosiveBreeder: She has over 500,000 demonic children. Even when taking into account that she is a semi-immortal Demon Lord, this is still a totally absurd number. To put it in perspective: even if she had started around the time human civilization was born, she would still have to give birth to ''more than 20 children each year'' to reach that number in present days. And seeing how most of her children are still infants in the present, this isn't very likely.

* DramaQueen: Belial is a classic case of a Prime Donna with a Histrionic Personality Disorder. Fittingly, the English dub gives her an Aristocratic Southern American accent reminiscent of Scarlett O'Hara from ''Film/GoneWithTheWind'' who embodies that trope. [[spoiler: She later hysterically reveals to Lucifer that being in Hell was endless torment and suffering to her as she had to "bow her head to demons", but it is shown in flashback that actually all she did and had to do was to humbly and politely ask the permission of each of the other Mortal Sins to become their official leader, which they all immediately and courteously gave her anyway as none of them were even interested in the position or in playing politics to begin with in the first place.]] She seems to have mellowed out a bit by the end of the series.

* GoneHorriblyRight: In the seventh Blu-ray exclusive Short Special she forcefully feeds Maria an aphrodisiac so that she won’t fight back against her. What follows is a BeatThemAtTheirOwnGame moment that would make Lucifer proud.

* GoneHorriblyRight: The first victim of Lucifer's tendency to BeatThemAtTheirOwnGame: Asmodeus had drugged Lucifer up with a powerful aphrodisiac, so Lucifer simply embraces it, increasing her own sex appeal to the point Asmodeus began to lust after her. In the seventh Blu-ray exclusive Short Special she forcefully feeds Maria an aphrodisiac so that she won’t fight back against her. What follows is a another BeatThemAtTheirOwnGame moment that would make Lucifer proud.

* BiTheWay: In the main anime we discover that she married a man and had [[{{Understatement}} many]] [[ExplosiveBreeder children]] with him, but extra material – such as official artwork, as well as the short specials and booklets that come with the Blu-ray - also show her getting intimate with women.

* VillainProtagonist: Lucifer is egotistical, believes that humans only have their own weakness to blame if they are seduced by the Sins and fall to Hell, and happily abuses of how Maria is powerless to defy her, putting the girl in embarrassing situations and even using her as bait. And despite all this she's the POV character. [[SubvertedTrope However]], she later [[TookALevelInKindness takes a few levels in kindness]] which, alongside the reveal that[[spoiler: she was banished from Heavens because she protested against God's plan of purging Earth and Hell]], paints her more as an AntiHero.

* ButtMonkey: Not only she is constantly ignored by Lucifer, every time she tries helping her fight the Mortal Sins she gets humiliated in a new way. In fact, "Leviathan gets the short end of the stick" could be seen as an OnceAnEpisode event.

* DeathGlare: Gives Maria a terrifying glare as she is about to start her mental torture against the defenseless girl.

* BadBoss: It becomes apparent why none of the other Sins really like her much; Belial ''sucks'' as a boss and her vanity makes her lash out at people when things don't go how she wanted.

* ItsPronouncedTroPAY: The English dub pronounces her name as "Beh-Lie-Yul" rather than "Beh-Lee-Yal".

* MeanBoss: It becomes apparent why none of the other Sins really like her much; Belial ''sucks'' as a boss and her vanity makes her lash out at people when things don't go how she wanted.

* NoPronunciationGuide: The English dub pronounces her name as "Beh-Lie-Yul" rather than "Beh-Lee-Yal".

* TheDragon: To Belial, not because she is the strongest among her underling, but the most loyal. [[spoiler: She assumes this position by default during the last episodes, as all the other Mortal Sins have decided to ditch Belial for being such a BadBoss.]]

* GoodIsNotSoft: When the time came to carry out Lucifer's sentence, Michael did so without hesitation or remorse. [[spoiler:Subverted on two levels. The "Good" part is subverted by her [[GodIsEvil God being evil]], and the "Not Soft" part is subverted when it is revealed that Lucifer's actions emotionally affected [[PsychoLesbian Michael]] more than she lets on. She actually tried to stop Lucifer from rebelling and getting banished, and only looked happy when she throw out of Heavens because she realized that if she becomes Lucifer's enemy, she will have to take her seriously. After that point she plays this part totally straight.]]

* KatanasAreJustBetter: Her chosen weapon is a red-bladed katana.
* KickTheSonOfABitch: [[spoiler: True, telling Belial that she has a chance of coming back to Heavens, which is what she wanted the most in her life, only to crush all her hope by denying that possibility even existed is a very cruel thing to do, but seeing how Belial spend the entire series as a huge {{Jerkass}} and a BadBoss, it's hard to say she didn't deserve such treatment.]]
