!! Ratchet

The hero of the series and the last of the Lombaxes.
* ActionHero
* BadassAdorable
* BerserkButton: NEVER mess with Veldin. Chairman Drek, and then Dr. Nefarious, learned this the hard way.
** Also: Insulting Clank is ill advised; do something to actually ''put him in jeopardy'' and you'll have an angry lombax stalking across the galaxy with the sole purpose of [[{{BFG}} shooting you]], [[StuffBlowingUp blowing you up]], [[BalefulPolymorph turning you into a monkey]], [[NoKillLikeOverkill and then blowing you up again.]]
--->'''Biker:''' Get lost before I flatten your robot into a hubcap.
--->'''Ratchet:''' Touch him, and it's ''plasma city!''
* CatFolk
* CharacterDevelopment: Yes, every lead character goes through it to an extent, but compare the Ratchet from the original game to the Ratchet from Tools of Destruction. It's a startling difference, and there's even more character growth between [=ToD=] and A Crack in Time.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: Though not touched upon in the earlier games, the Future series reveals that not only is Ratchet among the LastOfHisKind in his dimension, but that [[BigBad Empror Tachyon]] killed his father, and Ratchet's mother was killed during the Cragmite invasion of their home planet.
* CoolLoser: You think having awesome piloting skills, a huge arsenal of weapons, and saving several galaxies before breakfast makes you popular? Not Ratchet. Even after all his heroics, he's still seen as a sidekick to his buddy Clank or the glory-hog Captain Qwark.
* DeadpanSnarker
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Zig-zagged. ''Going Commando'' opens with a TV interview about his heroics in the previous game, while in the next game ''Up Your Arsenal'', he's known for being Clank's chaffeur in the ''Secret Agent Clank'' holo-vids.
* ExpressiveEars: They droop when he's low on health or upset.
* GenreSavvy: Increasingly so, as evidenced by All 4 One.
* GreenEyes
* {{The Hero}}
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:When he thinks Talwyn is dead in the comics.]]
--> [[spoiler:'''Clank:''' He has not spoken since it happened.]]
* HeroWithBadPublicity: For most of Deadlocked.
* HyperspaceArsenal
-->'''Annihilation Nation Commentator:''' Where is he ''keeping'' all of these guns?! I mean, come on!
* ImprobableWeaponUser: [[WrenchWhack The Omniwrench]]
** And that's to say nothing of the belching fish, omnicidal droid, instant-monkey-just-add-[[{{Mooks}} mook]], or [[LiteralMinded literal "dance 'til you]] [[NeverSayDie drop"]] weapons.
* JerkAss: Becomes this after [[BrokenPedestal Qwark's]] betrayal in the first game. He gets better.
* LastOfHisKind: ''Kinda'' in that the Lombaxes aren't extinct, just in exile in another dimension. Ratchet is the last known ''male'' Lombax alive in his dimension.
* MachineEmpathy
* MrFixit: Tinkering and engineering come naturally to Lombaxes
** BunglingInventor: Apparently thought making a [[NoodleIncident bathroom toy out of antimatter]] was a good idea.
* TheMusketeer: Whether it's gun play or melee, Ratchet is just as skilled wielding the latest arsenal from Gadgetron as he is swinging his [[WeaponofChoice trusted Omniwrench]].
* NamesTheSame: He's NOT a [[{{Transformers}} giant transforming robot medic]].
* NiceHat: His leather flight cap to the points that some mistake it as part of this fur markings.
* [[OneManArmy One Lombax Army]]
* TheOtherDarrin: Mikey Kelley in the first game, JamesArnoldTaylor everywhere else.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Dwarfed even by other Lombaxes, but that doesn't stop him from decimating armies with a wrench and guns bigger than he is.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Clank's blue.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Alister notes that he looks remarkably like [[http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kadenratchetcomparison_5190.jpg his father]]. In fact it's this resemblance which convinces him Ratchet is ''not'' an assassin with a Lombax guise sent to kill him.
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: So far, all of his female companions (Angela, Sasha, Talwyn) have been taller than him to varying degrees.

!! Clank
Ratchet's robotic best friend. Usually acts as a [[AwesomeBackpack backpack]] for Ratchet.
* BadassAdorable
* ChickMagnet
* TheChosenOne
* CuteMachines
* SignatureLaugh: A Scooby-Doo-like "Eehehehehehe"
* EnsembleDarkhorse: In-universe he's a famous movie star as Secret Agent Clank. Ratchet is his chaffeur.
* GreenEyes
* HelicopterPack
* InsufferableGenius
* NotSoStoic: In teh first game, he becomes almost tearful when reuinted with his "MOM" and completely loses it when learnign of Drek's true intentions.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Ratchet's red.
* RobotBuddy
* SpockSpeak
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: Like with Ratchet, all of his love interests have been taller than him.
* TuxedoAndMartini: As ''Secret Agent Clank'', complete with an array of [[ShoePhone disguised weaponry]].
* OnlySaneMan: particularly in ''All 4 One''.

!! Captain/President Copernicus L. Qwark
Despite being a renowned superhero, Captain Qwark is a coward and an idiot. He has many encounters with Ratchet and Clank, as both an [[HeelFaceRevolvingDoor ally and an enemy.]]
* {{Big Bad}}: Of Going Commando.
* {{Big Good}}
* BrokenPedestal: For Stuart Zurgo, the fanboy in Going Commando who goes on to become the BigBad of Full Frontal Assault out of hatred for Qwark.
** Also for Ratchet in the first game, which Ratchet is quick to remind him of in Up Your Arsenal.
* [[BroughtToYouByTheLetterS Brought To You By the Letter 'Q']]: Just look at his shirt.
* CaptainSpaceDefenderOfEarth
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Despite his characteristic cowardice and idiocy, Qwark has proven to be a hero and indispensable (if annoying) ally to Ratchet and Clank. He helped them destroy Doctor Nefarious' Biobliterator, worked as a mole against Emperor Tachyon to get vital information, aided in defending the Fongoids from invasion and helped them escape a warship after they (and he) are captured, went undercover to steal plans from Doctor Nefarious to help Ratchet find Clank, and is one of the playable heroes in All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: The game Size Matters reveals that Qwark is the son of two heroic parents who were killed by defective Technomite technology, after which Qwark was adopted by Cyclophic monkeys who raised him.
* DirtyCoward: In the early games.
* [[DumbBlonde Dumb Blond]]: Qwark's [[http://images.wikia.com/ratchet/images/6/65/Qwark_Monkey_Boy.png blond beard]] is clearly visible at the beginning half of ''Up Your Arsenal''.
* EmbarrassingMiddleName: "Leslie"
* FakeUltimateHero
* HeelFaceTurn: Although he gets dumber, he also becomes less evil and more of an ally to Ratchet.
* LanternJawOfJustice
* MilesGloriosus
* NoodleIncident:
-->'''Qwark ''[to Skrunch the monkey]'':''' It was mating season! How I supposed to know she was your sister?
* OurPresidentsAreDifferent: Becomes Galactic President in the comic and is still in officer during All 4 One. The game Full Frontal Assault takes place not long after he loses his re-election bid.
* [[RaisedByWolves Raised By Monkeys]]
* ReverseMole: In ''Tools of Destruction'', to Tachyon.
* SycophanticServant: Again, in ''Tools of Destruction'', to Tachyon.
* SmallNameBigEgo
* TooDumbToLive
* TookALevelInBadass: Slowly but surely throughout the series. In the beginning, he was an idiotic and incompetent coward. As time goes on, while he's not necessarily smarter, he does become more heroic to the point of becoming a playable character in the later games.
* TopHeavyGuy: He was the trope image at one point.
* TreacherousAdvisor
* VillainWithGoodPublicity

!! Big Al
A mechanic and inventor who occasionaly assists Ratchet and Clank in their adventures.
* GadgeteerGenius
* [[spoiler:HollywoodCyborg: After being blasted by Ace in ''Deadlocked'']]

!! Helga
Qwark's fitness trainer, known for her "sensual powers of seduction".
* {{Jerkass}}
* JustAStupidAccent
* LadiesAndGerms: Helga herself invokes this. When Qwark addresses the Q-Force as "ladies and gentlemen...", she glares angrily at him (and perks up again when he hastily name-checks her), implying that she considers herself neither.
* TheLoad: Even though most members of the Q-Force were somewhat inept, they all proved useful at least once (Skidd and Skrunch both accompany Ratchet on some of his missions and Al does the team's tech work), but Helga never does anything except force Ratchet to go through her VR training course, thus being more of a liability than anything.

!! Skid [=McMarx=]
A professional surfer-dude type hoverboarder with "nerves of steel".
* TheDitz
* LeeroyJenkins
* LovableCoward
* MilesGloriosus
* ScreamsLikeALittleGirl
* SurferDude
* TotallyRadical

!! Skrunch
Qwark's one-eyed Floranian monkey.
* EverythingIsBetterWithMonkeys
* HypercompetentSidekick: Certainly more competent than Qwark, anyway...
* TeamPet

!! Angela Cross
A Lombax who aids Ratchet in the second game.
* BrotherChuck
* CatFolk
* DarthVaderClone: As the Thief.
* DitzyGenius: Legitimately smart, but has a tendency to be very clumsy.
* FlipFlopOfGod: The devs couldn't make up their minds whether or not she was a Lombax, or just a similar species, for quite a while, before finally confirming her as one during ''A Crack In Time''.
* GirlOfTheWeek
* HeelFaceTurn
* HotScientist: Tall, buxom, and formerly one of MegaCorp's top geneticists.
* ImpliedLoveInterest: She and Ratchet do show signs of chemistry and a possible attraction in ''Going Commando'', that coupled with her being the only known female Lombax in Ratchet's dimension suggest Angela was intended to be a female foil to Ratchet, but nothing has come of it.
* LastOfHerKind: In the same manner as Ratchet, she's the last known ''female'' Lombax alive in her dimension.
* SamusIsAGirl
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: At 6'3" she's over a foot taller than Ratchet, at 5'1". Whether this means Ratchet is just short for his kind, still had some growing to do or if female Lombaxes are naturally bigger than males is unknown.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Prior to her HeelFaceTurn.

!! Sasha
The captain of the Starship Phoenix and Ratchet's TemporaryLoveInterest for ''Up Your Arsenal''.
* TheCaptain
* FauxActionGirl
* GirlOfTheWeek
* [[OnlySaneMan Only Sane Woman]]
* ThePresidentsDaughter

!! Talwyn Apogee
A young Markazian woman living on a space station in the Polaris galaxy, and daughter of the famous explorer Max Apogee. Helps Ratchet in ''Tools of Destruction'' and ''Quest for Booty''.
* ActionGirl: At times, but see below.
* ClickHello: She introduces herself to Ratchet by leveling a blaster at his face.
* DisappearedDad: Max Apogee vanished while on a journey, and is believed to be dead.
* DistressedDamsel: Ratchet has to rescue her a few times.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: At the end of "Quest for Booty", she leaves with Ratchet when he heads to [[spoiler:look for Clank]]. In "A Crack in Time", Ratchet begins the game with Qwark as his companion, and Talwyn is nowhere to be seen.
** Though she is mentioned twice. Once by Ratchet in the opening cutscene and then by a DJ on the radio who says she requested a song and a shout out to Ratchet.
** Talwyn reappears in the comic series, where she and Sasha help Ratchet in his efforts against the BigBad.
** And vanishes again in ''All 4 One'', where she only gets one brief mention.

!! Cronk and Zephyr
Talwyn's two robotic guardians, that are veterans of the Great War in Polaris.
* GrumpyOldMan: Part of what makes them so funny is they behave like two old geezers. "Get off my lawn!"
* MissionControl: In All 4 One, they serve as this while stuck in orbit around Magnus.
* ThoseTwoGuys

!! General Alister Azimuth
The only Lombax other than Ratchet remaining in the current universe.
* {{Badass}}
* CatFolk
* CoolOldGuy [[spoiler:until his FaceHeelTurn]]
* [[CoolSword Cool Wrench]] A large, double-headed one that can shoot energy blasts and deflect projectiles.
* FailureKnight: One of the reasons Azimuth is so quick to mentor Ratchet is because he feels personally responsible for his father Kaden's death. [[spoiler:When he kills Ratchet, he rationalizes it away by claiming he can bring him back alongside Kaden and the other Lombaxes with the Great Clock.]]
* [[spoiler:HeroicSacrifice: RedemptionEqualsDeath]]
* MeaningfulName: "Alister" is a Gaelic form of Greek name "Alexander", which means "defender" or "protector". Quite fitting for a military man.
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler: Azimuth was the one who gave Emperor Tachyon access to advanced Lombax technology, thinking that Tachyon's improvements could help the Lombaxes protect the galaxy. Instead, Tachyon used the tech to launch a devastating attack against the Lombaxes.]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist
* WrenchWhack: Has a double-ended wrench as his primary weapon.
* [[spoiler:WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds]]

!! The Plumber
An eccentric waterworker with a tendency to pop up anywhere Ratchet and Clank go, no matter how improbable it seems.
* AlmightyJanitor: He's even voiced by ''[[{{Scrubs}} THE Janitor]]''
* [[ChekhovsGun Chekhov's Gun]]: The Plumber's 3 3/4 centicubits hexagonal washer in ''Tools of Destruction''.
* CloudCuckooLander
* FourthWallObserver
-->'''Plumber:''' Almost didn't recognise you in high-def!
* PhraseCatcher
-->'''Ratchet:''' Look, the plumber's back!
* RecurringTraveller: Takes this to extremes in ''A Crack in Time'', where he appears ''inside Clank's subconscious''.
* SpiritAdvisor: In ''A Crack in Time'', see above.

!! Slim Cognito
A shady character (literally, all you see are his eyes) who deals with illegal modifications in the Bogon Galaxy. Shows up in the Solana Galaxy in ''Up Your Arsenal'' after "accidentally" selling a mod for a Suck Cannon to a minor. It's probably best that we not know anything more.

* BlackMarket
* ConspiracyPlacement: Has his own commercials.
* FellOffTheBackOfATruck: Slim's stock in trade.
* TheUnseen

!! The Smuggler
[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin As his name implies]], he's somewhat shady type with access to all sorts of weapons and gadgets. Despite his criminal leanings, he's there to help Ratchet - for a price, of course. Only appears in the three PS3 ventures.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Never given an actual name.
* EyepatchOfPower: Although he's been shown to have two functioning eyes.
* MrExposition: Besides selling Ratchet gadgets and the like, he helps fill on some of the backstory in "Tools of Destruction"
* PirateParrot: His parrot actually belonged to Captain Slag, before the Smuggler [[LostHimInACardGame won him in a card game.]]
* RecurringTraveller: Not to the extent of the Plumber, though.

!! Merc and Green
Merc and green are the two robot sidekicks provided for Ratchet in Deadlocked.
* MeaningfulName: Green is the least experienced of the two, and tends to act less calm under fire, bringing to mind the military slang term for rookie soldiers, "greenhorn".
* NonHumanSidekick: They take the place of Clank as Ratchet's robot sidekicks for this game.
* LovableCoward: Green.
* ItHasBeenAnHonour: Late in the game, Green mentions that, if he deosn't make it out alive, it has been an honour working with you.
* TriggerHappy: Merc.
* YourMom: One of Merc's lines.
--> '''Merc:''' Hey Green, that zombie looks like yo mama!
* NoodleIncident: The previous combatant to work with Merc and Green came to a gruesome end...

! Villains

!! Chairman Drek
The villain of the first game, Ultimate Supreme Executive Chairman Drek is the leader of the Blarg and is out to find a new home for his race... by ripping apart other planets and creating a new one, destroying countless lives in the process.
* BilingualBonus: "Drek" is slang for feces in Slovenian.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive
* FauxAffablyEvil: Subverted. His first appearance is a video of him calmly and politely explaining his plan to the people of Novalis, and says that it will send the planet flying towards the sun. He drops it after the cut, and tells them they can kiss his ass if they're angry about it. [[IsThisThingStillOn The camera's still running.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard
* ManOfWealthAndTaste
* PlanetLooters
* SmugSnake
* TryToFitThatOnABusinessCard: Parodied; he started from 'Chairman Drek', and added to his title at various points through the game, to become Ultimate Supreme Executive Chairman Drek.

!! Thugs-4-Less Leader
[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin The leader of Thugs-4 Less]], hired by both of Ratchet's enemies at some point during the game. Not so much a villain, hes only in it for the bolts.
* AffablyEvil: Looks out for all the men in the Thugs ensuring they are well cared for (offering pizza parties to the squad that bags Ratchet) and his prison even caters for vegetarians.
* BenevolentBoss
* DumbMuscle
* EvenEvilHasStandards
* PunchclockVillain: Though his enmity with Ratchet crosses the line into ItsPersonal later on.

!! Dr. Nefarious
The main villain of ''Up Your Arsenal'' and ''A Crack in Time'', Dr. Nefarious is a [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin nefarious]] MadScientist who is out to wrong all the rights in the galaxy and rid it of all organic lifeforms so he can rule over a robotic utopia with an iron fist.
* ArchEnemy: In the third game, Nefarious seems to see Qwark as his archnemesis, but by the time "Crack" rolls around, he's shifted that "honor" to Ratchet.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: In cutscenes, he's a bumbling fool. When it's time to actually fight him, though, he's more than capable of kicking ass.
* BigBad: For the entire series as he is the most recurring villain.
* BoomerangBigot: Of sorts: he [[spoiler:has a seething hatred for organic lifeforms even though it's revealed he was organic until his body was destroyed and replaced with his current robotic one. CameBackWrong perhaps?]]
* CardCarryingVillain: This sort of boils beneath the surface in ''Up Your Arsenal'', but in ''A Crack in Time'', his final plan is to [[spoiler:use the Orvus Chamber to alter time and create a world where heroes always lose.]]
* EnemyMine: Returns in "Ratchet And Clank: All 4 One" as a Playable Character.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: He gets one in ''A Crack in Time'' after [[spoiler: a time traveling Ratchet]] throws a bomb at his face, [[EyeScream also wrecking his left eye]]. He still has it in ''All 4 One'', although his eye appears to have been fixed.
* GeniusDitz: Nefarious is a goofball, but he still managed to build some truly impressive tech; the Biobliterator and that mech the size of a building in ''Crack In Time'', anyone?
-->'''Lawrence:''' Even drooling imbeciles can achieve success in certain fields, sir. Mad Science, for example.
* LargeHam
* LaughablyEvil
* MadScientist
* NoIndoorVoice
* NotQuiteDead: WordOfGod says Lawrence went back to save him at the last minute.
** Which isn't as much of an AssPull [[FridgeBrilliance as it looks]]: remember when Lawrence pulled a similar "prank" in ''Up Your Arsenal''?
* PercussiveMaintenance
* PerverseSexualLust: His fangirl following fits this trope perfectly.
* {{SkeleBot 9000}}: His design is subtly very skeletal - skull-like face, bony fingers, and ribcage-like tubes on his torso.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Although before he was a robot it looks like he had [[GrayEyes gray eyes.]]
* TheyCalledMeMad
-->'''Nefarious:''' To think, they called me 'insane,' Lawrence! We'll see who's insane ''when my mutant armies have exterminated all life on this planet!''\\
'''[[ServileSnarker Lawrence]]:''' [[StealthInsult Yes, sir; that should clear things right up.]]
* UnwillingRoboticisation: His ultimate goal in ''Up Your Arsenal''. [[spoiler:And in fact his origin story if the [[UnreliableNarrator Qwark vidcomics]] are telling the truth: he was a scientist of the same race as Qwark, who was dropped into a pit while fighting him and roboticised.]]

!! Lawrence
Dr. Nefarious' passive-aggressive butler. His main role in the games is to usually make his boss look like an idiot, menial offscreen stuff like washing Nefarious' underwear, and [[PercussiveMaintenance dealing with]] his employer's malfunctions.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: He plays bass in a band when off-duty.
* DeadpanSnarker
* TheDragon: Technically, though he never really deals with the heroes.
* EasterEgg: When you're working on a time puzzle with Clank in ''Crack in Time'', take a moment to check out the windows, particularly the ones in corners. You'll usually find Lawrence hanging out on a windowsill, occasionally looking in to spy on you.
* HatesEveryoneEqually: Everyone's fair game for his snark.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: He seems to do this once per game, only to invariably return to save his boss anyway.
* ServileSnarker
* StealthInsult
* TheUnfought: Never fought directly as a boss, though he does provide backup for Nefarious during his Boss Fights.

!! Courtney Gears
An IdolSinger in ''Up Your Arsenal'' who was aligned with Nefarious.
* EvilDiva: The mind control in her songs only works on robots, though (though not Clank, apparently).
* IdolSinger: A particularly evil one.
* MusicalAssassin
* RobotGirl
* SummonBackupDancers
* UnexplainedRecovery: Made a "miraculous recovery" in Deadlocked.
* VillainSong: ''Death To Squishies'', a [[LyricalDissonance pop song]] about [[CrushKillDestroy organic genocide]].

!! Klunk
An evil robotic duplicate of Clank created by Dr. Nefarious.
* [[spoiler: BeardOfEvil: Bizarrely, in ''Secret Agent Clank'', he sports a metallic goatee.]]
* EvilTwin
* AFateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler: After being defeated in ''Secret Agent Clank'', he is released into Ratchet's custody, who turns Klunk into a vacuum cleaner.]]
-->'''Clank:''' [[BondOneLiner Looks like it sucks to be him.]]
* GoodColorsEvilColors: He has red eyes instead of Clank's green ones.
* TheManBehindTheMan: [[spoiler: He is revealed to be the BigBad of ''Secret Agent Clank' after having used a fake identity known as "The Kingpin" throughout the game]].
* TheMole

!! Gleeman Vox
The villain of ''Deadlocked'', Gleeman Vox is a sadistic, money-grabbing billionaire owner of an underground media empire in the lawless Shadow Sector. He operates [=DreadZone=], a HV program where heroes are forced to fight each other to the death.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive
* EverythingsEvenWorseWithSharks: He looks rather like a human/shark hybrid.
* KarmicDeath
* LargeHam: He gets hammy at some points, especially when he's annoyed or is shooting a commercial.
-->'''Vox:''' Then it's time to turn that dial to something ''a little more dangerous... time for some real action...'' *jumps up on a table* '''It's time to BLOW [[SoundEffectBleep $#!%]] UP!!!'''
* NoKillLikeOverKill: At the end of ''Deadlocked'',[[spoiler: he sets the arena to explode using '''''six gigatons of nitroglycerin''''']].
* RedRightHand: A golden cybernetic hand he uses to display holograms.

!! Ace Hardlight
Vox's right hand man and the leader of the Exterminators, [=DreadZone=]'s elite warriors.
* BloodKnight: Enjoys fighting and killing, with little regard as to who the target is.
* CreatorsPet: An in-universe example, as Vox tries to promote him as a hot-shot who the fans should love, despite the fact the audience clearly prefers Ratchet.
-->'''Vernon ''[when asked by Vox if he'd like an Ace Hardlight action figure]'':''' Nah, that guy's a tool.
* TheDragon: To Gleeman Vox.
* FallenHero: Like most [=DreadZone=] contestants, Ace was once a great hero, before the fame and thrill of [=DreadZone=].
* JacobMarleyWarning: [[spoiler:After Ratchet defeats him, Ace urges Ratchet not to follow the same dark path he did.]]
* [[spoiler: NotQuiteDead: He's briefly mentioned in Tools of Destruction over the PA of Zordoom Prison.]]
* NotSoDifferent: Hinted at; Vox mentions that Ratchet reminds him of a young Ace.
* ShoutOut: "Ace" and "Hard-light" are both terms that are sometimes used to describe another [[Series/RedDwarf particularly unpleasant character who think's he's braver and more popular than he is.]]

!! Emperor Percival Tachyon
The BigBad of ''Tools of Destruction'', Tachyon is the last of the Cragmites, an AlwaysChaoticEvil race defeated by the Lombaxes years ago. As a result, he has a grudge against Ratchet's race...
* DisneyVillainDeath: [[spoiler:Until the comic revealed Tachyon survived, now stuck in a planet fragment in another dimension along with Artemis Zogg.]]
* DontYouDarePityMe: One of Tachyon's major grudges against the Lombaxes.
-->'''Tachyon:''' Those... ''creatures'' had the ''gall'' to pity ''me!''
* EmbarrassingFirstName: "Your name is ''Percival''?!"
* TheEmperor: "See the crown? See the scepter? The giant walking throne and the legion of loyal robotic commandos? EMPEROR!"
* TheFarmerAndTheViper: Upon discovering his heritage as a [[AlwaysChaoticEvil Cragmite]], he immediately gets to work on banishing almost the entire Lombax race (the ones who ''raised him from a hatchling'', in spite of what he was) and coercing the Drophyds into helping him take over the galaxy and bring about the return of said Cragmites.
* GalacticConqueror: By the time Ratchet and Clank arrive, Tachyon's taken over most of the Polaris Galaxy.
* TheNapoleon: Making fun of Tachyon's stature warrants the death penalty.

!! Captain Romulus Slag
The scourge of Polaris, the grog-drinking captain of large crew of space pirates and a thorn in Ratchet and Clank's side in ''Tools of Destruction''. In ''Quest for Booty'', [[spoiler: Rusty Pete managed to salvage his head and revive him by attatching it to Captain Darkwater's body.]]
* BigBadDuumvirate: With [[spoiler:Captain Darkwater]] in ''Quest for Booty''.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: He and Rusty Pete, debatably(?).
* LosingYourHead: He is reduced to this after he is defeated, and again after his second defeat in ''Quest for Booty''.
* SpacePirate

!! Rusty Pete
Captain Slag's first mate and best friend.
* AmbiguouslyGay
* [[spoiler:BatmanGambit: He successfully manages to dupe Ratchet into leading him to Captain Darkwater's body, so he can use it to revive Captain Slag.]]
* CloudCuckoolander
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: [[spoiler: In ''Quest for Booty'', he manages to trick Ratchet into helping him resurrect Captain Slag.]]
** If you listen to Pirate Radio in A Crack in Time, you might have heard this gem, to back the theory up: "And you're projecting your anger on me to cover an unconscious but deep-seated resentment toward a patriarch who never hugged you. [[AlcoholHic Hic.]]"
* [[DontExplainTheJoke Don't Explain The Joke]]: That's a good one, captain! You made a rhyme! Ha ha ha!
* TheDragon: To Slag
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor
* TheImp
* MinionWithAnFInEvil
* SpacePirate

!! Captain Angstrom Darkwater
Former captain of the Space Pirates of Merdegraw, until he was overthrown by his first mate, Romulus Slag. He bound his soul to his body so he could defend his treasure even in death.
* BigBad: Of ''Quest for Booty''.
* BigBadDuumvirate: With Captain Slag in ''Quest for Booty''.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: More like Zombie Robot Pirate.
* SharingABody: With Captain Slag.
* SpacePirate

!! Flint Vorselon
A former Terraklon assassin and mercenary, Vorselon now works under Dr. Nefarious in ''A Crack in Time'' in order to keep his new robotic body.
* BonusBoss
* EarlyBirdCameo
* LargeHam
* LosingYourHead: He was reduced to this after a fight with Drophyds.
* LukeIAmYourFather: Played for laughs
* TheDragon: To Nefarious.

!! The Valkyries
A trio of ruthless mercenaries, Cassiopeia, Carina, and Libra lead the Valkyrie army to wreak havoc in the Polaris Galaxy, and help Nefarious in his quest for the Great Clock.
* AmazonBrigade: They are leaders of this.
* BrawnHilda
* JustAStupidAccent: Carina
* KickTheDog: [[spoiler: During the boss battle against Cassiopeia, she constantly mocks Ratchet's attempts to save Clank and even his dead parents.]]
** Well she was pretty upset about him killing her sisters.
* SpacePirate: A rival, all-female faction, despite the name.
* UnholyMatrimony: Cassiopeia and Nefarious.
* VocalDissonance: Libra

!! Artemis Zogg
A ruthless tyrant, Artemis Zogg uses his technology to "steal" planets and relocate them to his own "Artemis Galaxy".
* BigBad: In the comics.
* GalacticConqueror
* StartOfDarkness: The third issue is this for him.
* WellIntentionedExtremist
* YouAreWhatYouHate

* GenreSavvy: Increasingly so, as evidenced by All 4 One.
* GreenEyes
* {{The Hero}}
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:When he thinks Talwyn is dead in the comics.]]
--> [[spoiler:'''Clank:''' He has not spoken since it happened.]]
* HeroWithBadPublicity: For most of Deadlocked.
* HyperspaceArsenal
-->'''Annihilation Nation Commentator:''' Where is he ''keeping'' all of these guns?! I mean, come on!
* ImprobableWeaponUser: [[WrenchWhack The Omniwrench]]
* MachineEmpathy
* [[OneManArmy One Lombax Army]]

* BadassAdorable
* ChickMagnet
* TheChosenOne
* CuteMachines
* SignatureLaugh: A Scooby-Doo-like "Eehehehehehe"
* EnsembleDarkhorse: In-universe he's a famous movie star as Secret Agent Clank. Ratchet is his chaffeur.
* GreenEyes
* HelicopterPack
* InsufferableGenius
* NotSoStoic: In teh first game, he becomes almost tearful when reuinted with his "MOM" and completely loses it when learnign of Drek's true intentions.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Ratchet's red.
* RobotBuddy
* SpockSpeak

* {{Big Bad}}: Of Going Commando.
* {{Big Good}}
* BrokenPedestal: For Stuart Zurgo, the fanboy in Going Commando who goes on to become the BigBad of Full Frontal Assault out of hatred for Qwark.
** Also for Ratchet in the first game, which Ratchet is quick to remind him of in Up Your Arsenal.
* [[BroughtToYouByTheLetterS Brought To You By the Letter 'Q']]: Just look at his shirt.
* CaptainSpaceDefenderOfEarth
* EmbarrassingMiddleName: "Leslie"
* FakeUltimateHero
* HeelFaceTurn: Although he gets dumber, he also becomes less evil and more of an ally to Ratchet.
* LanternJawOfJustice
* MilesGloriosus
* NoodleIncident:
* [[RaisedByWolves Raised By Monkeys]]
* ReverseMole: In ''Tools of Destruction'', to Tachyon.
* SycophanticServant: Again, in ''Tools of Destruction'', to Tachyon.
* SmallNameBigEgo
* TooDumbToLive
* TreacherousAdvisor
* VillainWithGoodPublicity

!! Big Al
A mechanic and inventor who occasionaly assists Ratchet and Clank in their adventures.
* GadgeteerGenius
* [[spoiler:HollywoodCyborg: After being blasted by Ace in ''Deadlocked'']]

!! Helga
Qwark's fitness trainer, known for her "sensual powers of seduction".
* {{Jerkass}}
* JustAStupidAccent

* TheDitz
* LeeroyJenkins
* LovableCoward
* MilesGloriosus
* ScreamsLikeALittleGirl
* SurferDude
* TotallyRadical

!! Skrunch
Qwark's one-eyed Floranian monkey.
* EverythingIsBetterWithMonkeys
* HypercompetentSidekick: Certainly more competent than Qwark, anyway...
* TeamPet

!! Angela Cross
A Lombax who aids Ratchet in the second game.
* BrotherChuck
* CatFolk
* DarthVaderClone: As the Thief.
* GirlOfTheWeek
* HeelFaceTurn
* SamusIsAGirl

* TheCaptain
* FauxActionGirl
* GirlOfTheWeek
* [[OnlySaneMan Only Sane Woman]]
* ThePresidentsDaughter

* ThoseTwoGuys

!! General Alister Azimuth
The only Lombax other than Ratchet remaining in the current universe.
* {{Badass}}
* CatFolk
* CoolOldGuy [[spoiler:until his FaceHeelTurn]]
* [[spoiler:HeroicSacrifice: RedemptionEqualsDeath]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist
* WrenchWhack: Has a double-ended wrench as his primary weapon.
* [[spoiler:WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds]]

* CloudCuckooLander
* FourthWallObserver
-->'''Plumber:''' Almost didn't recognise you in high-def!
* PhraseCatcher
-->'''Ratchet:''' Look, the plumber's back!

* BlackMarket
* ConspiracyPlacement: Has his own commercials.
* FellOffTheBackOfATruck: Slim's stock in trade.
* TheUnseen

* LovableCoward: Green.
* ItHasBeenAnHonour: Late in the game, Green mentions that, if he deosn't make it out alive, it has been an honour working with you.
* TriggerHappy: Merc.

* CorruptCorporateExecutive
* HoistByHisOwnPetard
* ManOfWealthAndTaste
* PlanetLooters
* SmugSnake

Not so much a villain, hes only in it
pages for the bolts.
* AffablyEvil: Looks out for all the men in the Thugs ensuring they are well cared for (offering pizza parties to the squad that bags Ratchet) and his prison even caters for vegetarians.
* BenevolentBoss
* DumbMuscle
* EvenEvilHasStandards

* LargeHam
* LaughablyEvil
* MadScientist
* NoIndoorVoice
* NotQuiteDead: WordOfGod says Lawrence went back to save him at the last minute.
** Which isn't as much of an AssPull [[FridgeBrilliance as it looks]]: remember when Lawrence pulled a similar "prank" in ''Up Your Arsenal''?
* PercussiveMaintenance
* TheyCalledMeMad

* DeadpanSnarker
* HatesEveryoneEqually: Everyone's fair

series.

* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: He seems to do this once per game, only to invariably return to save his boss anyway.
[[Characters/RatchetAndClankHeroes Heroes]]
* ServileSnarker
[[Characters/RatchetAndClankVillains Villains]]
* StealthInsult

* MusicalAssassin
* RobotGirl
* SummonBackupDancers

* EvilTwin
* TheMole

!! Gleeman Vox
The villain of ''Deadlocked'', Gleeman Vox is a sadistic, money-grabbing billionaire owner of an underground media empire in the lawless Shadow Sector. He operates [=DreadZone=], a HV program where heroes are forced to fight each other to the death.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive
* EverythingsEvenWorseWithSharks: He looks rather like a human/shark hybrid.
* KarmicDeath

* TheDragon: To Gleeman Vox.

* SpacePirate

!! Rusty Pete
Captain Slag's first mate and best friend.
* AmbiguouslyGay
* [[spoiler:BatmanGambit: He successfully manages to dupe Ratchet into leading him to Captain Darkwater's body, so he can use it to revive Captain Slag.]]
* CloudCuckoolander
Ha ha ha!
* TheDragon: To Slag
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor
* TheImp
* MinionWithAnFInEvil
* SpacePirate

!! Captain Angstrom Darkwater
Former captain of the Space Pirates of Merdegraw, until he was overthrown by his first mate, Romulus Slag. He bound his soul to his body so he could defend his treasure even in death.

* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: More like Zombie Robot Pirate.

* AmazonBrigade: They are leaders of this.
* BrawnHilda
* JustAStupidAccent: Carina
