** It's revealed that she's a pony who learns by ''doing'' something, and that learning from a book is difficult for her. She compares learning spells by book to learning to dance by book: you might know all the steps, but unless you get up and do them, you won't know what you're doing.

** When impersonating Lyra during "Helping... Hands?", she dubs herself the Majestic and Lovely Lyra, and gets very confused at the odd looks this gets her, thinking that musical performers act like magicians.

Added DiffLines:

* PaperThinDisguise: While pretending to be Lyra. Appearance-wise, she's brilliant. Personality wise... no. Not remotely. And nerves make her act especially Trixie-ish, forcing Lyra to jab her more than once.

Added DiffLines:

* BalefulPolymorph: During "Helping... Hands?" a badly mistranslated zebra spell winds up with her being turned into a human. Naked. In the middle of winter. And no idea where the counterspell is. [[FromBadToWorse With Lyra due to perform for Luna's academy later that day.]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She has no problem with potentially ruining the careers of three translators by making them look like idiots, during "Helping... Hands?" Admittedly, they're responsible for her having had a ''very'' bad day, and one of them has just revealed themselves to be tribalist towards earth ponies (such as Bon Bon). * AdaptationalBadass: Lifted from background and minor characters into heroes.
* AuthorityInNameOnly: Their distinction as the Elements of Harmony doesn't give them much political clout.
** Slightly changed as of the end of ''At the Grand Galloping Gala''. They have what's known as the '''Right of Approach''', which means that if they want to see Luna, only she can turn them away - they can't be stymied by secretaries, guards, or whatever. Previously only Equestria's viceroys have had this power.
** Averted entirely on Trixie's part, even before that, since she's Luna's representative in Ponyville.
* BadassNormal: Compared to the Mane Six ([[ChildProdigy Twilight]] [[SuperPowerLottery Sparkle]], [[LightningBruiser Rainbow Dash]] and [[ToonPhysics Pinkie Pie]] most of all), most of the Luna Six are relatively normal ponies who are the Elements of Harmony.
* TheDeterminator: None of them, not even the languid Trixie, are quitters.
* FireForgedFriends: While most of them were at least familiar with each other beforehand, it was the shared adventure against Corona that truly brought them together.
* [[FiveManBand Five Mare Band]]: Although the divide isn't clean and there is significant overlap depending upon the situation.
** Trixie is TheLancer. Oddly for a lancer, she's also TheHero.
** Lyra is a variation on both [[TheSmartGuy The Smart Mare]] (she's "the bard" and knows a lot about magical theory) and [[TheBigGuy The Big Mare]] (when spellcasting)
** Raindrops is [[TheBigGuy The Big Mare]] (physically).
** Ditzy Doo is TheChick, as well as TeamMom.
** Carrot Top is TheChick while doing some time as [[TheSmartGuy The Smart Mare]].
** Cheerilee is TheLeader, though she also doubles as [[TheSmartGuy The Smart Mare]].
* ProtocolPeril: They have a particularly bad habit of mouthing off to ponies and authority figures they ''really'' shouldn't (like the paranoid and controlling vicerein, or the paranoid king of a paranoid kingdom). Except, funnily enough, Trixie (the only one trained in statespony-ship), who in these instances desperately tries to get the others to ''stop talking'' before they have someone else out for them.
* TheoryTunnelvision: Prior to ''The Return of Tambelon'', they were all completely incapable of seeing Corona as anything other than a scheming, malicious monster who needs to be put back in the sun. It's most pronounced with Ditzy, though she does at least have a [[MamaBear reason]].
** And, admittedly, their only real experience with Corona up until that point involved Corona [[WouldHurtAChild threatening to slaughter captive children]], attempting to murder them all, and boasting about how it is all "for their own good." Them having a ''tiny'' bit of ill will towards her is understandable.
* TrueCompanions
* VagueAge: All of them are somewhere in or around the young adult area. Cheerilee is the oldest, and Raindrops is slightly younger than all the others, but beyond that it's a toss-up.

!!Trixie Lulamoon
!!![[http://i42.tinypic.com/35ktk02.png Profile]]

[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lunaverse_busts__trixie_by_pyr0cat-d7kotnj_9458.png]]
[[caption-width-right:300:Watch in awe!]]

The Element of Magic, the personal student of Princess Luna an the representative of her Night Court to Ponyville. Trixie is extroverted, but abrasive; outgoing, yet insecure. She is talented and knows it, and she wants everypony else to know it as well. She can be difficult to get along with at the best of times, but now that she has true friends, she is determined to keep them.

* AccentRelapse: Returns to a French Creole accent (she was raised in Neigh Orleans) when she gets drunk or annoyed.
* AllergicToRoutine: In "Up and Automaton", she reveals that she's become so used to the chaos Ponyville goes through on a regular basis that she's actually engaging in a game of ''stealth hug'' with Pinkie to keep from going mad with boredom during a surprisingly uneventful week.
* AwesomeButImpractical: Her flying carpet, which in addition to not being all that fast, is also difficult to use and power.
* BadBoss: She has a habit of being unintentionally inconsiderate, abusive, and condescending to those under her employ. After her encounter with Zizanie, she sought to subvert this trope with Pokey to incredibly mixed success.
* TheBigEasy: Is originally from [[UsefulNotes/NewOrleans Neigh Orleans]].
* BigEgoHiddenDepths
* BizarreTasteInFood: Big time.
* {{Blackmail}}: Early on, she attempts to use this frequently. She's just not good at it, at all. On one occasion, Octavia's attempt to claim she's being blackmailed by Trixie falls flat on its face because of this.
-->'''Octavia:''' She lacks the political acuity to blackmail a tree-stump.
* BookDumb: Mild example. She's rather well-read in politics and history as a Luna's student, but not so much in magical theory.
** It's revealed that she's a pony who learns by ''doing'' something, and that learning from a book is difficult for her. She compares learning spells by book to learning to dance by book: you might know all the steps, but unless you get up and do them, you won't know what you're doing.
* BrilliantButLazy: A capable sorceress, but entirely unwilling to learn new spells unless she absolutely has to. However, she ''does'' practice the spells she already knows constantly, giving her extremely fine control over them.
* ButtMonkey: Horrible things happen to her on a regular basis. In fairness, some of it is deserved.
* BystanderSyndrome: Suffers from this during the first few episodes by virtue of not being all that heroic.
* CargoShip: Has shades of this In-Universe with Monsieur Bourbon.
* CarnivoreConfusion: She has eaten meat in the past, but never from anything sapient. Her friends sometimes have trouble comprehending this distinction.
* CelibateHero: By way of {{asexuality}}. WordOfGod states that she's not adverse to forming close platonic relationships, but anything physical is right out. There are multiple instances where she's uncomfortable even talking about sex:
** In ''The Night After,'' she is disturbed when she (and most of the neighbors, in all likelihood) hears Bon Bon and Lyra going at it; a few weeks later, in ''Helping...Hands?'', she is still embarrassed by the experience.
** In ''A Hard Bargain,'' Cheerilee's off-hand comments about the "fun" her parents used to have make Trixie squirm.
** This gets actually discussed in ''Tales of Ponyville'', where Cheerilee mistakes Trixie's celibate tendencies for being a ChasteHero and [[HilarityEnsues decides to give her]] TheTalk. At which point Trixie rants that she finds sex to be gross.
* CharacterDevelopment: Before the events of ''Longest Night, Longest Day'', and for a good chunk of that story as well, Trixie really ''wanted'' to be a corrupt, scheming manipulator in the Night Court. She just wasn't very good at it. Her friendship with the other Elements of Harmony has changed her dramatically for the better over the course of several months, though ''At the Grand Galloping Gala'' reminds us that there are many nobles in Canterlot who still vividly remember her as an egotistical, politically clumsy {{Jerkass}}.
* ConspiracyTheorist: For Trixie, unless it's one of the other Elements, there is no gesture that cannot be construed as the product of the machinations of members of the Night Court in a bid to gain control of one or more of the Elements. Fortunately or unfortunately, [[ProperlyParanoid she is frequently right]].
** Also unfortunately, for all her paranoia she doesn't realize [[spoiler:just ''how'' corrupt the Night Court is ''as a whole'']].
* DeadpanSnarker
* DisappearedDad: Her mother died while Trixie was very young, but her father was an utter no-show.
* DreadfulMusician: Oh, yes. Trixie's singing is repeatedly said to be dreadful. She's tone-deaf, has a limited repertoire and even less knowledge of music, and what few songs she does know she can just about hum. But since she can't always remember all of them, she just resorts to humming the same bit over and over.
* DrinkOrder: ''Monsieur Bourbon''. Failing that, or if she's not allowed alcohol, she likes strawberry soy milk. Now if only somepony stopped buying it all before she can...
* [[EmbarrassingMiddleName Embarrassing Second Name]]: she was teased for the name "Lulamoon" as a foal due to the allusions to a song ''Skip to My Lou''.
** FirstNameBasis: ... which is why she prefers Trixie.
* FakeUltimateHero: Examined during "The Hero of Oaton", but ultimately played straight in "Foalish Misadventures" where she (with some lip service to the other Elements of Harmony) takes full credit for curing Ponyville of its enchanted, drunken stupor, failing to mention Dinky or the other foals who made it possible.
* FightsLikeANormal: Never really learned a lot of attack spells, so she in battle she mostly relies on illusions to disorient and distract her enemies while she sneaks in under invisibility to buck them in the ribs. [[spoiler:This is ''highly'' effective, however, as Ispelu Magikoa found out... or Canon Spike, Celestia, and Twilight, when she used her illusions to steal the Elements out from under them.]]
* TheHero: A relatively [[AntiHero flawed]] variant.
* HotForTeacher: Has had a few erotic dreams involving Princess Luna in the past, though she's none too proud of them.
** [[spoiler:''To Cheerilee, With Love'' ends with her thinking that she might have a crush on Luna, although ultimately this is not the case.]]
* INeedAFreakingDrink: Frequently deals with stress by spending quality time with Monsieur Bourbon. Since this is [[CityOfAdventure Ponyville,]] this tends to happen a lot.
* IToldYouSo: Commissioned a song about this trope that incorporates several languages and is composed of over a dozen verses with the last one purely consisting of haughty laughter.
* InVinoVeritas: When drunk, Trixie becomes more laid-back and sociable, starts speaking in Neigh Orleans accent and [[EmbarrassingMiddleName prefers to be called Lulamoon]]. She tends to treat "Lulamoon" as a separate personality altogether, and isn't fond of the fact that her drunk self is far more likable than she is.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Towards Lyra, in thinking that she's a StarvingArtist.
* {{Invisibility}}: Trixie possesses several ways of doing this with magic and she is ''very'' good at it. A second spell will cancel out the sound her hooves make when trotting. By the Grand Galloping Gala, she's managed to perfect invisibility to get around the audio problems this creates.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Especially around foals; Trixie seems to make a special effort to be nice to them, especially Dinky Doo.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Much to the consternation of her much nicer and humbler peers.
* LargeHamTitle: The Great and Powerful Trixie, though mostly only during stage shows or when otherwise trying to be overly impressive.
** During ''The Hero of Oaton'' she comes up with several more.
* LickedByTheDog: Trixie's fans and friends will argue against attacks toward her character... to a point.
* MagicalAccessory: Trixie is quite adept at making these, though it's not an instant process, frequently taking several hours.
* MagicHat: Used for traditional sleight of hand magic and acts as a magic portal to send her letters directly to Princess Luna's study, taking the role that Spike did for Twilight in canon.
* ManipulativeBitch: And not always too subtle in it.
* MasterOfIllusion: While she ''can'' learn just about any spell, she tends to favor illusion magic. This might have to do with her cutie mark talent being at least as much stage magic as "real" magic.
** ''Helping... Hands?'' makes clear just how good she is: Most illusion spells can be easily seen through, if somepony knows what they're doing or what to look for. Trixie is able to cast enough illusions in her duplication of Lyra to make it nigh-perfect, so much so that Lyra can't find any actual flaws outside of the feel of her fur (Trixie's is smoother than Lyra's).
* TheMentor: Has been teaching Dinky unicorn magic, sleight-of-hoof, and showmareship.
** EvilMentor: Dinky's picked up a few of Trixie's personality flaws as well.
* MissingStepsPlan: There are only two real concrete parts to most of Trixie's plans. The outcome where she will be handsomely rewarded for her brilliance and a beginning so elaborate and daring that it fools both her friends and herself that they won't be winging it all the way to the end.
* NoHeroToHisValet: Dinky and Pokey are her usual assistants, but even though they like her well enough, the two know better than to take what she says at face value. The same can be said for Trixie's other friends.
* NotAMorningPerson: She's not as bad as Lyra, since she has to get up for her job, but several years living in Canterlot as Luna's student mean she's not at her best in the morning.
* OtherMeAnnoysMe: "Crisis in Two Equestrias" has Trixie meet her alternate dimensional counterpart. Bickering (and a few [[YouAreFat weight-based insults]] from M!Trixie) ensue.
** She also doesn't much like "Lulamoon", the quasi-alternate personality that emerges when she gets sufficiently drunk.
* PoisonousFriend: Played with due to her less than altruistic mindset tempering the StupidGood tendencies of her friends and coming in handy against the more devious villains of the Lunaverse.
* PowerCopying: Trixie learns spells "by ear"; that is, she learns how to cast spells by watching other ponies casting spells. The downside to this is that she's not very good at learning spells from spellbooks, the normal way.
* PragmaticHero: What she eventually becomes.
* ProperlyParanoid: She lives in Ponyville, which is frequently attacked by monsters, is the subject of political schemeing from the Night Court, and has to occasionally tangle with an insane sun goddess. Needless to say, she takes steps to be this.
* ShipTease: As season 2 goes on, there are increasing hints that Trixie has some interest in Raindrops.
* ShockAndAwe: Her only major combat spell is the ability to summon lightning.
* SociopathicHero: On her worse days.
* StageMagician: Following in her grandfather's hoofsteps, though it's more of a hobby.
* {{Teleportation}}: Gives it a try at the beginning of ''Crisis on Two Equestrias''. Disaster promptly ensues, and no fic following has shown Trixie trying to teleport again.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Occasionally, though not as often as her Maneverse counterpart, and mostly only when she's deliberately trying to be dramatic.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Compared to her teammates, a little, but usually she's just a little on the abrasive side and more willing to pull underhanded stunts.
* WeakButSkilled: Not overly powerful for having a special talent in magic, but she's creative and fluent caster and fast learner.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: In contrast to canon!Twilight, who can perform a very wide variety of spells, but not very well, Lunaverse!Trixie has a few select spells she can cast very effectively.
* YouNeedToGetLaid: What others say of her. She's squicked out by the prospect.

!!Carrot Top

[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lunaverse_busts__carrot_top_by_pyr0cat-d7lakcw_2175.png]]
[[caption-width-right:300:Just a simple carrot farmer.]]

The Element of Generosity and a carrot farmer. While hard-working and compassionate friend, her selfless and introvert nature make her a bit too generous in a business sense. As a rather struggling low-scale farmer, she's envious of the Apple clan and their success.

* AccidentalHero: Unintentionally prevents [[spoiler:Zizanie]] from escaping in ''The Grand Galloping Gala'' by opening a door.
* AlchemyIsMagic: Carrot Top knows how to make a wide variety of potions and elixirs using her knowledge of plants, everything from sticky bombs to smoke gas to even minor healing poultices.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: She envied the success of Sweet Apple Acres, but is deeply conflicted when [[spoiler:the town turns against the Apples]] during Carrot Top Season.
* TheChick: Easily the most feminine and slowest to anger out of her friends.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: During ''Scootalong to the Cheer'', she comes to the conclusion Cheerilee and Heavy Roller are dating.
* DeathGlare: Wishes she had this sometimes, up to and including having actual EyeBeams. Not only can she not really pull it off, however, but in fact most ponies don't even realize that they're being glared at by her.
** [[spoiler:Averted once (well, sans EyeBeams) - in a staring match with ''Tirek'', no less.]]
* {{Envy}}: A little, mainly towards the Apple Family's success and general ease in life. It can lead her to take stupid risks she might otherwise be too savvy to avoid.
* ExtremeDoormat
* [[FertileFeet Fertile Hooves]]: All earth ponies possess this, but it's most pronounced in Carrot Top and other ponies with farming marks.
* TheGenericGuy: Some fics, those written by [=GrassAndClouds2=] more than most, tend to emphasize how little she stands out compared to the others.
** Averted in [[spoiler:''The Return of Tambelon'' and ''Contest of Champions'', particularly the latter where her knowledge of plants and mixing alchemical recipes make her an incredibly useful pony as TheMedic, as well as something like the team's artillery.]]
* [[GreenThumb Green Hoof]]: She knows a lot of stuff concerning plants, both tame and wild and even those of the Everfree Forest.
* ICantDance: Admits to not being a great dancer during ''Contest of Champions''.
* ItsPersonal: In ''Elements of Insanity'', she takes the fact that it's Twilight's choice for Generosity who's on a rampage personally.
* OnlySaneMan: During ''The Return of Tambelon'', she's the only one of the Element Bearers to not assume Corona is automatically a monster, and doesn't go out of her way to insult and / or antagonise her like the others.
* PerpetualPoverty: For much of the first season, due to a combination of trying to compete against the titanically powerful Apple Trust and her lack of business savvy.
* SeriousBusiness: Her one vice is taking care of her mane. So she is appalled at the idea of Trixie using a simple "all-in-one" shampoo for her own mane.
* ShrinkingViolet: Not on Canon Fluttershy-levels (Lunaverse Fluttershy takes this trope UpToEleven), but is somewhat a doormat.
* TakingAdvantageOfGenerosity: She tends to be the victim of this...
** AFriendInNeed: ... but on the other hoof, she's still always there to help anyone who's in trouble, no matter what it takes from her. And most are more than willing to [[AndroclesLion return the favor]].
* TheTeamNormal: The most "average" of the six, at least in the first season. She's not anypony's student, she doesn't have any connections to anyone important, she's no stronger than anyone else or particularly special skills, and has no chequered past. She's just a carrot farmer.
* UnknownRival: She's not even a blip on the Apple Trust's radar... Until ''Carrot Top Season'', after which Applejack acknowledges her as a WorthyOpponent. She was even given a chance to [[WeCanRuleTogether join the Trust]].
* {{Workaholic}}: Not to the same extent as Ditzy Doo, but Carrot Top has a difficult time just sitting still and doing nothing.

!!Cheerilee

[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lunaverse_busts__cheerilee_by_pyr0cat-d7mosfy_1895.png]]
[[caption-width-right:300:Bringing in joy and laughter, both in classroom and life.]]

The optimistic, knowledgeable and responsible school teacher for Ponyville and the Element of Laughter. Needs to get out more. Foalhood friend of Lyra; sister of Berry Punch.

* AntiHero: On occasion, Cheerilee is more than willing to bend, break, or just flat-out ignore rules she doesn't like, causing conflict between her, the other Elements, and their allies.
* BerserkButton:
** Messing with education, for one. She's the first of the Bearers to take a dislike for Vicereine Puissance because the mare had been manipulating things in her province to make standardised testing easier. During their visit to Naqah, she's immediately furious when she hears Grev objected to the sultan's attempts to reform education.
** Don't harm foals, or their chances for the future. When Ditzy lies about Manehattan to stop Dinky applying for a prestigious school, Cheerilee has to be restrained by Trixie from verbally tearing her friend a new one.
** Insulting her sister, Berry.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Slow to anger, but when she does, even [[TheBigGuy Raindrops]] is afraid of getting in her way.
* BiTheWay: Was once accidentally married to a female roommate, and cheated on her with a stallion, so she's most likely bisexual. She's also been in relationships with both Big Mac and Rarity. [[spoiler:As well as a one-time with Notary (they were drunk, and it was ''before'' she became Greengrass's secretary).]]
** Not to mention a threesome in her past, according to ''Hero of Oaton'' and ''Tales of Ponyville''.
* TheChewToy: "Scootalong to the Cheer" has Cheer go through the proverbial wringer in the space of a day - she gets a concussion before the school day even starts, an art project in her mane, followed by a good chunk of her mane getting ripped out, one of her forehooves covered in rainbow, and a paper airplane to the eye. Then, after school lets out, she gets soaked with mud. All thanks to Scootaloo.
* CoolTeacher
** BadassTeacher
* [[CrazyCatLady Crazy Fish Lady]]: According to the ''Hero of Oaton'', Cheerilee has so many fish that she's long since run out of names and had to switch over to an alpha-numeric system of identification.
** [[KindheartedCatLover Kindhearted Fish Lover]]: She's not really obsessed with her fish to the point total social isolation, but she does seem to be worried about being perceived as such by others.
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: Earns the Element of Laughter by making sex jokes about Corona.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Heavily vandalizes her own school due to the establishment mandating more inservice days. In her defense, she was magically intoxicated, as were the faculty and PTA members that were cheering her on.
* TheDreaded: During ''Nightmares Yet to Come'', Trixie spends some time afraid of how Cheerilee's going to react to her not putting Thesis in school (even with the caveat that Trixie isn't her legal guardian, something Trixie doesn't dare thing of trying to explain). But when Cheerilee actually comes a'calling, she's pretty calm. She even seems disappointed Trixie would think that of her... and then she admits that if it ''weren't'' leading up to Hearth's Warming, then yeah, she would be ''much'' angrier.
* FormerTeenRebel: ''Tales of Ponyville'' reveals that when she had a ''very'' interesting youth, until her parents caught on and put their hooves down.
** [[HiddenDepths And she picked up lots of useful skills and met many interesting persons]] back in those days.
--> '''Trixie:''' Like lock-picking?
--> '''Cheerilee:''' [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking And embroidery.]]
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter:
** ''Oaton'' makes a point of noting she's not very good at reading ponies. Later on, in ''Up and Automaton'', she supports an old friend who is a complete ''moron''.
** During ''Tales of Ponyville'', she mistakenly takes a snarky comment of [=BonBon=]'s at face value, and believes Trixie doesn't know about sex. When she gets to Trixie's residence, she hears her talking about something with Raindrops, and comes to the conclusion Raindrops was trying to take advantage of her. Much embarrassment follows.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: Says this repeatedly after forcing Yangin into helping the Bearers in ''Chasing Smoke''. Ditzy and Raindrops don't particularly agree.
* TheLeader: Tended to take this role, usually being the one to come up with plans of action.
* LiesToChildren: Not usually, but during ''Tales of Ponyville'', when she gives the "that's how everypony looked" explanation on her (''very'') 80s-esque appearance in an old photo, she leaves out the fact that "everypony" actually means a very select few.
* MarriedToTheJob: But wouldn't mind a life outside it.
* NoIndoorVoice: When at the end of her rag in ''Scootalong to the Cheer''. Heavy Roller asks her to stop because she's apparently pretty bad at it.
* NonGivingUpSchoolGuy: Do not try to skip school. Scootaloo tried it once, and Cheerilee found out. According to Scoots, she chased the filly "halfway to Cloudsdale" before catching her.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: ''Scootalong to the Cheer'' not only revealed her relation to Berry Punch, but also what her own full name is: Black''cherry Lee'' Punch.
* SanitySlippage: ''Sergeant-at-Hooves'' has Cheerilee going more than a little overboard trying to prepare the others for the "inevitable" final showndown with Corona. It starts with ambushing each of them and trying to give them "pop quizzes" on how to deal with threats. When that doesn't work, she starts getting more and more drastic, refusing to listen to anyone's attempts to get her to stop. And then she goes and hits Ditzy's MamaBear switch on a particular rant...
* [[TheSmartGuy The Smart Mare]]
* {{Troll}}: Flirts with Corona to mess with her. It's surprisingly effective.
* UseYourHead: She manages to get rid of the Army of Smoke and Fire by smashing its bound item with her head.
* YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry: Seriously, she's ''terrifying''.

[[caption-width-right:300:Our most popular background pony, now a main character.]]

The Element of Kindness and a ever hard-working mail mare in Ponyville's post office, who knows everypony and wants everypony to get along. Single mother and would fly to the end of the universe for her dear daughter, Dinky Doo.

* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: She's often mistaken for being Dinky's older sister, and several ponies express surprise that she's a mom.
* AlmightyJanitor: Isn't a post master, but knows every detail in the job well enough to claim the office her own "Castle Doo".
* {{Claustrophobia}}: Not known to do well in enclosed spaces; this causes problems when having to rescue Trixie in ''Through the Fire and Flames''.
* {{Determinator}}: For better or worse, once she sets her mind on something, she is not deterred, as Princess Luna learns during "An Early Reunion". The Princess's attempt to lie and duck an issue go out the window when Ditzy makes ''damn sure'' she keeps her word.
* DoesntKnowHerOwnStrength: According to "Boast Busted", Ditzy is strong for a Pegasus (though obviously not as strong as Raindrops), and occasionally more than she realises, strong enough Trixie is legitimately concerned she could break the boards of Trixie's stage without even meaning to.
* EducationMama: The idea of Dinky getting hurt is one thing; the idea of Dinky settling for less because Mommy is a dimwit worried about nothing gets to be quite another.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Whether it's her Element or just her general niceness, normal animals can't bring themselves to harm Ditzy.
* GoodIsNotSoft: She's the Element of Kindness, but push her too hard and you'll find out that Kindness is ''not'' the same thing as weakness.
* [[GoodParents Good Parent]]: "Fact: Dinky Doo has the best mother in the world, and Dinky Doo is fully aware of this."
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Was reluctant to accept the Element of Kindness at first [[spoiler:because of her [[MyGreatestFailure teenage affair]] with Sparkler's (and Dinky's) father, which led to a pregnancy and the divorce of Sparkler's parents.]]
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Sometimes she can be a bit too trusting. During the Contest of Champions, a griffon tries slashing at her with a knife covered in a substance that would have done some ''very'' nasty things if it had made contact, while aiming for her eyes. Ditzy just assumes there was a misunderstanding.
* TheKlutz: suffers from [[FishEyes strabismus]], which makes her coordinating and flying difficult.
* MamaBear: Don't even think of hurting her daughter. Otherwise you might just end up being dropped from the sky.
* MyBelovedSmother: In "Exam Jitters", she shows signs of becoming overly protective when an accident she couldn't possibly have foreseen [[AdultFear leaves her so worried about protecting Dinky]] that she lies her ass off about how horrible Manehattan is when Dinky gets the chance to attend an elite school. Cheerilee is not ecstatic.
* NotSoDifferent: The real reason she finds it difficult to forgive Corona for kidnapping Dinky. It took her [[SelectiveObliviousness the longest time to admit it]] but what scares her most about Celestia is that an alicorn with a MamaBear complex who sees all ponies as her children has [[KnightTemplarParent more ability to run riot]] than a mere letter carrier.
* PerpetualPoverty: Between the relatively low salary from her postal work, the various expenses associated with being a single parent, and her desire to build up some savings for Dinky, Ditzy has to be pretty careful with her money.
* PhotographicMemory: Not quite, but Ditzy almost never forgets anything.
* ShipTease: Some minor ones with Big Mac. Gets more prominent in ''For a Few Bits More''.
* TeamMom
* TookALevelInBadass: Undertakes some combat training in ''Contest Of Champions'', emphasizing her special talent of sensing wind currents.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Muffins.
* TurnTheOtherCheek: She rarely gets angry even if somepony acts like they'd deserve it, instead treating such occasions with motherly patience. Push her hard enough, though...
* {{Workaholic}}: She works long, somewhat stressful days, capable and willing to do most tasks in the office... due to the low salary and family to support.

!!Lyra Heartstrings
!!! [[http://i42.tinypic.com/33p8sq9.png Profile]]

[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lunaverse_busts__lyra_by_pyr0cat-d7n8b0f_3452.png]]
[[caption-width-right:300:A musical prodigy...]]

The Element of Loyalty, Lyra is a laid-back, easygoing musician and (suitably) utterly devoted friend. In the beginning of the story, she returned to her home town Ponyville with Trixie after studying three years in Canterlot, [[LongDistanceRelationship reuniting with her longtime marefriend Bon Bon]].

* BrilliantButLazy: While patient and thorough in what she does, she can be also carefree and has some problems with deadlines. She also seems to be stronger than Trixie in terms of raw magic power.
* CasualKink: It's mentioned several times that she and Bon Bon have occasionally done things to "spice up" their love life.
* CatapultNightmare: ''Helping... Hands?'' mentions it happens a lot with her, usually ending with her falling out of bed, often on her horn (unicorn horns being pretty sensitive).
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: With Bon Bon.
* GenkiGirl: She is frequently excited and energetic. That her diet is so sugary probably has a hand in the matter.
* GoodPeopleHaveGoodSex: Unfortunately for anyone who lives near them, Lyra and Bon Bon are ''very'' loud, and ''very'' enthusiastic.
* [[HasTwoMommies Has Two Daddies]]: As shown in ''Dinner with the Folks''.
* LethalChef: The reason why Bon Bon cooks for both of them.
* LightEmUp: Manages to let off a blast of light in ''The Glass Kingdom'' bright enough to blind an entire room of secret police. Cue grumbling from Trixie on how Lyra managed to be brighter than her.
* MagicMusic:
** She's a professional musician, and has studied magic in Luna's school for Gifted Unicorns.
** ''Secret of Andalantis'' also mentions spellsongs, aka. ''literal magic music'', as her specialty in spellcasting.
* MakeMeWannaShout: She can use magic to amplify her shouts, as she demonstrates in ''The Glass Kingdom''.
* [[ManChild Mare Child]]: She can act incredibly childish for her age, refusing to eat anything other than candy, or going along with Bon Bon's plan to drop a bucket of water on an already rain-soaked Cheerille on threat of not getting brownies.
* NoSell: Lyra proves immune to the sirens' singing, on account of realising one of them is off-key.
* NotAMorningPerson: She tends to sleep through the mornings, so she's not so good with them. HilarityEnsues on more than one occasion where she's forced to get up out of her comfort zone.
* PowerOfTrust: she inspires Octavia to overpower Blueblood's mercenaries, even though she's a mile away. Octavia knows that Lyra would have faith in her, and that's all she needs.
* TheReliableOne: As the element suggests, she's more or less everypony's friend.
* SweetTooth: ''Ice Hearts'' claims she tends to eat mostly ice cream.
* TakingTheBullet: She takes one for Cheerilee in ''Longest Night, Longest Day''. Luckily, it proves her to be the Element of Loyalty, and she's fine.
* WaitingForABreak: Implied, when Trixie tends to think her as a StarvingArtist (especially in earlier stories) and invokes this trope to get her to do favors. Eventually subverted as Lyra ''does'' make a living with her music.

!!Raindrops
!!![[http://i44.tinypic.com/1ibno9.png Profile]]

[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lunaverse_busts__raindrops_by_pyr0cat-d7qq4cp_334.png]]
[[caption-width-right:300:You do '''not''' want to make her angry.]]

The Element of Honesty, Raindrops can come across as stable and slightly dull. However, underneath the surface she's got a great deal of anger issues just ready to explode. She's a member of Ponyville's weather patrol, and takes her job very seriously, though she also enjoys it thoroughly.
* BeYourself: How her Element most often shows itself with her. Raindrops isn't incapable of lying, though she's not good at it. Rather, Honesty to her means not hiding who and what you really are (note that this is different from not "controlling" it), and always doing what you know is right, ''because'' it's right.
* BerserkButton: {{Inverted}}. Rain is pretty much the only thing that lets her ''stop'' being angry.
* [[TheBigGuy The Big Mare]]
* BigSisterInstinct: Threatening Snails is a good way to get her truly pissed off at you.
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: She is a closet romantic, big time.
** She also doesn't exactly ''like'' her anger issues and wishes that she could live without them.
* BrutalHonesty: How her nature as the Element of Honesty often presents itself.
* DeadpanSnarker: Easily the equal of Trixie in this regard.
* {{Determinator}}
* TheFirstCutIsTheDeepest: [[spoiler:Kindle's quasi-betrayal hurt her worse than just about anything else we've seen.]]
* HairTriggerTemper: Pretty much anything gets her angry, including her parents' various quirks, or even her little brother's fondness for bugs. She constantly has to try and repress it as best she can. The non-canon story ''In the Heat of the Moment'' revealed that she has a clearing in Whitetail Wood where she sometimes goes to just vent all her frustration by running laps and breaking stones (also useful when her heat comes up); this was adapted into canon by the story ''Hero of Oaton''.
* HappyRain: She loves playing in the rain, to the point of singing about it while splashing around in puddles and mud.
* HiddenDepths: On the surface, Raindrops seems to be a dour or angry pony all the time who mostly wants to just do her job and occasionally yell at things - or break them. However, ''Tales of Ponyville'', ''Of Hearts and Hooves'', and various other stories have greatly expanded her character. She cares deeply about her family, especially her brother; hates her anger issues and is always looking for ways to control them; loves rain and trashy romance stories; and has a surprisingly fragile psyche.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: During "Voice of the Sun", she declares how she wishes she'd never become an Element Bearer, or that she was so strong and angry.
* MightyGlacier: Slow and clumsy for a pegasus, but stronger than many earth ponies - she can break rocks with her bare hooves.
* NeverLiveItDown: In-universe. The one time she really lost it and assaulted somepony - a classmate at Summer Flight Camp - led to broken bones and hospitalization. The foal she assaulted still walks with a limp and still has a restraining order on her. She had to live with the reputation until her family moved away from Cloudsdale, but she still regrets it.
* SerialKillerKiller: Sorely tempted to become this in ''Just Us Little Ponies''. [[spoiler:Fortunately, Cheerilee, Max, and Duty talk her down.]]
* ShipperOnDeck: When she sees Pinkie Pie and Blueblood together, she ''instantly'' comes up with a trashy romance plot involving the two of them and basically orders them to go to a certain spot where [[BlatantLies the clouds will be extra romantic, purely by coincidence]]. When they kiss, a squeal can be heard from said clouds.
* SuppressedRage: Due to what happened in the past, she does her best to control her temper.
* TheStoic: But she [[NotSoStoic has]] [[SuppressedRage her]] [[RageBreakingPoint limits]].
