* AdaptationalUpbringingChange: Originally in the Creator/MarvelComics universe, America Chavez was raised in a Utopian dimension, which her mothers sacrificed themselves to save, and she left Utopia of her own accord when inspired by them to be a hero. In ''Franchise/MarvelRising'', America's mothers tricked her into being teleported to Earth before they made their sacrifice. Consequently, ''Marvel Rising'''s America is a lot more cynical than her comics counterpart, due to her bitter feelings about her parents instead of wanting to follow their example.

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: AdaptationalPersonalityChange: While she still has a temper, she's less overt in showing it off, being more stubborn and less entitled.entitled. She’s also more cynical and was not a superhero across her childhood like her comics counterpart. This may be since her origin in this setting has her sent away by her parents instead of exiling herself, causing her to view their heroics in a more negative light.

* KnifeNut: She battles using energy daggers that seem to drain the life energy from whoever they touch, with one graze nearly incapacitating Ghost-Spider in ''Initiation''. The fact that they don't leave any marks is what led the police to believe Ghost-Spider was responsible for Kevin's death, since Sheath left no evidence.

* AdaptationalBackstoryChange: It's implied that this Gwen was a hero from the day she got her superpowers. When her best friend Kevin turns out to be an Inhuman, she helps train him so they can one day fight crime together. However, he becomes overconfident and goes on a patrol by himself without telling Gwen. By the time Gwen finds out and catches up, Kevin has been murdered by a Kree villain, with Gwen being framed for the crime and now out to avenge him. The comics have Gwen initially use her powers for profit before hearing her father criticize her persona for wasting her talents, which pushes her to begin crime-fighting. Her commitment to do so is only cemented after she fights the Lizard, who turns out to be close friend Peter Parker (in line with the AlternateUniverse WhatIf nature of her comic). [[ILetGwenStacyDie Peter dies from his injuries]] after reverting back to normal, leaving Gwen as a fugitive guilty over her role in her best friend's death and using her desire to never let a similar thing happen again fuel her heroics.
