Formed by King Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII fifteen years before the game's story, the Kingsglaive is an elite guard corps that can use some of Regis's powers. here]].

* AllForNothing: Ten years of fighting in the war between Niflheim and Lucis eventually became this to the glaives when the peace treaty signing is announced. In the end, only Niflheim came ahead. It's even said word-for-word by Crowe.
* AnyoneCanDie: And everyone but [[SoleSurvivor Libertus]] ''does'' die by the film's end.
* BadassArmy: They fight against Niflheim as Regis's guard corps.
* BadassCrew: The glaives can take down both Magitek troopers and Behemoths.
* TheCameo: Aside from a couple of offhand mentions and a small character specific cameo (see below), the Kingsglaive don't appear in ''XV'' at all. However, Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto trade in their Crownsguard fatigues for Kingsglaive uniforms [[spoiler:post TimeSkip]].
* DoomedByCanon: Given their absence from the main game, it's made likely that the Kingsglaive won't survive the destruction of Insomnia. Sure enough, they don't, except for Libertus.
* DwindlingParty: Everyone starts dying one by one after Crowe's death and the attack on Insomnia. After Nyx's HeroicSacrifice, Libertus is the SoleSurvivor.
* FaceHeelTurn: Most of the glaives turn on Regis ''en masse'' once the attack of Insomnia begins.
* KillEmAll: With the exception of Libertus, they're all dead before the film ends.
* MeaningfulName: Kingsglaive means "King's Sword". "Glaive" is a French word that derives from either the Latin word for sword (''gladius'') or the Gaelic word for claymore (''cladivos''). The Kingsglaive is an elite fighting unit who operate directly under the King’s command and wield his powers, making them the King's weapon.
* TeleportSpam: The members of the Kingsglaive are only able to utilize this in conjunction with their weapons because King Regis lets them borrow his magic.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: The glaives didn't survive their introduction film, and Libertus is not seen in ''XV'' even though he made it out alive.

[[folder:Nyx Ulric]]
!! Nyx Ulric
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nyx_3.jpg]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Go Ayano (Japanese), Creator/AaronPaul (English)
->'''Appears in:''' ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXV'' | ''Anime/KingsglaiveFinalFantasyXV''

-->''"Your Majesty, please, give the order to deploy the Glaive."''

A member of the Kingsglaive, the elite military force of Lucis, and also one of the main protagonists of ''[[CharacterTitle Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV]]''. Nyx hails from Galahd, one of the Lucian territories conquered by Nifhleim, and is grateful to Regis for taking him in as a refugee. Somewhat of a maverick and self-assured, as well with the talent to back it up, he makes a name for himself among his fellow Glaives, who jokingly call him "Hero".

----
* TheAce: If one shotting a Behemoth didn't tip you off, this guy is the top of the cream in handling Regis's borrowed magic. Not only does he fend off traitorous glaives with relative ease, he even goes toe to toe with the mighty [[ImplacableMan General Glauca]] and eventually defeats him.
* AwesomeMcCoolName: "Nyx Ulric" sounds like the kind of name 80s action heroes would have in a fantasy world. Bonus points for the ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming.
* BadassBoast: Several times in the movie.
--> ''(To the past Kings of Lucis demanding his life in exchange for using the Power of the Kings)'' "You guys drive a hard bargain. ''({{Beat}})'' Where do I sign?"
-->"I don't know if you've heard it, but I'm the hero around here."
* BodyHorror: Towards the end of the film, his body starts to get riddled with VolcanicVeins as a sign of the Lucii's power eating away at him. By the end of the fight, most of his body is burnt and he has lived through two spontaneous combustions, only to die anyway due to the pact with the Lucii.
* BroughtDownToBadass: As soon as King Regis dies, all members of the Kingsglaive lose their connection to his magic. Nyx doesn't let that hinder his mission to protect Luna, fending off several attacks as they make their way through the city. It takes getting shot by Lazarus, as well as Glauca trying to strike him and Luna as he's injured, for him to cross the GodzillaThreshold and use the Ring of the Lucii to regain his power.
* TheCameo: Nyx makes a particularly grizzly cameo appearance before the FinalBoss of ''XV'' as detailed below in CreepySouvenir.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Hence his InSeriesNickname. It seems Nyx constantly feels like he has to save others, which he shows from the start by saving Pelna and Libertus despite receiving orders to withdraw. Nyx claims he does this because he failed to save his mother and sister in the past, and it clearly still haunts him.
* CreepySouvenir: In a twisted take on the trope, his ultimate fate is ''becoming'' the creepy souvenir. [[spoiler:After initiating the Starscourge, Ardyn Izunia chained his corpse above the throne in Insomnia, alongside Lunafreya, King Regis and Emperor Aldercapt.]]
* DarkIsNotEvil: He is named after a night goddess, yet is as loyal and honorable as they come.
* DeadpanSnarker: While not an overt case, Nyx regardless tends to have at least one clever quip for any given situation.
* {{Determinator}}: His primary character trait. From rescuing injured comrades to protecting Luna, once Nyx focuses his mind on a task, nothing will stop him from carrying it out. He doesn't even mind giving up his own life, so long as Luna escapes and the royal bloodline survives.
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: He outright mocks the past kings of Lucis sealed within the Ring of the Lucii for their inaction towards the sacking of Insomnia. Interestingly, his defiance and belief in carving a future impress them enough to grant Nyx their power until dawn.
-->"To hell with your power. I'm not here for it. I only came to tell you: you are ''no'' kings."
* DoomedByCanon: He is notably absent from ''Final Fantasy XV'', which takes place during/after the events of ''Kingsglaive''. It is evident that [[TheHeroDies he won't survive]], thanks to him using the Ring of the Lucii to battle Glauca; the Power of Kings lasts only until dawn, killing him afterwards. [[spoiler: In a rather twisted, well, twist, Nyx does, in fact, appear in the game, though as an illusory corpse and one of Ardyn's sick "trophies" chained up above the throne.]]
* DyingMomentOfAwesome: A more prolonged death than most, but Nyx goes out like a hero during the movie's final act; he makes a pact with the past kings of Lucis at the cost of his life to stall off Glauca and Niflheim's forces. He then spends the rest of his screentime engaging the general in a fierce duel to the death, all while summoning the statues of the Old Wall to deal with the Diamond Weapons, before finally defeating Glauca right before dawn arrives, fulfilling his contract. He dies with the knowledge that he has allowed Lucis to send out a glimmer of hope that will eventually defeat Niflheim and restore the kingdom.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: The Ring of the Lucii rejects Ravus and Lazarus violently, but temporarily bestows Nyx with its power until dawn.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: During the opening battle in ''Kingsglaive'', Nyx makes his first appearance killing a monster to rescue his allies and orders them to regroup with the other soldiers.
* EtTuBrute: His reaction when he learns of Drautos's intentions to reclaim his hometown even if it means betraying Lucis.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: After spending the last of his strength using the Ring of the Lucii, he waits for the sunrise and is content about his death.
* FacingTheBulletsOneLiner: Before Nyx delivers the final attack to Glauca, he quips:
-->'''Nyx''': "Looks like I'm gonna owe him big."
* FamousLastWords: His last words were expressing how [[FaceDeathWithDignity he was content with his death]] and his hope that Noctis would be a magnanimous and noble sovereign:
-->'''Nyx''': "Not the worst way to go. Rule well, young King."
* ForcedToWatch: Nyx is forced to watch Regis getting ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice at the hands of Glauca.
* GenderBlenderName: Nyx is a name of a goddess and [[MrFanservice Ulric isn't very feminine]].
* AGoodWayToDie: At the end of ''Kingsglaive'', after Nyx holds off Glauca long enough for Luna to escape with the Ring of the Lucii, he dies content, knowing he has paved the way for a safer future that his mother and sister would have wanted.
* GodzillaThreshold: With the Weapons tearing Insomnia apart, the traitorous Glaives killing the loyalists, and himself on the brink of death, Nyx wields the Ring of the Lucii. While the kings believe that a commoner such as him is unworthy, the newest king, Regis vouches for him, calling him an outstanding warrior. It isn't until Nyx openly laughs at the kings and calls them out that they grant him the power of kings. Of course, the price of the pact is a heavy one...
* HearingVoices: Hears his dead sister's voice calling out to him in the past several times in battle, causing him to lose his focus.
* TheHeroDies: He's unquestionably the main protagonist of the film. And he dies at the end due to his use of the Ring of the Lucii to hold off Glauca.
* HeroicBSOD: He's clearly devastated when Crowe is killed.
* HeroicRROD: At the end of ''Kingsglaive'', Nyx uses the Ring of the Lucii's powers to fight Glauca. It greatly shortens his lifespan to the point that he eventually dies from the effort after defeating Glauca.
* HeroicSacrifice: Gives up his life in order to allow Luna to escape with the Ring of the Lucii.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Specifically, of ''Kingsglaive''[='=]s, since he is unheard of in the game [[spoiler:aside from a brief cameo as a corpse]].
* HumbleHero: One look at his flat is all that's needed to spell out "below the poverty line." Yet as a member of the Kingsglaive, an elite unit handpicked by King Regis himself to receive his power, he most likely ''has'' the means to live if not an affluent lifestyle, at least one in the comfortable middle-class, yet he chooses not to.
* InSeriesNickname: A relatively understated one, but Nyx is constantly called "Hero" by the other Kingsglaive members.
* InkSuitActor: His likeness is based off French model Johan Akan.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Nyx may have an arrogant personality, but he is a good person.
* KnifeNut: Nyx's weapons of choice are a [[DualWielding pair]] of [[KukrisAreKool kukris]], used in conjunction with his warping. These same knives can be obtained in ''Final Fantasy XV'' as weapons for Noctis or Ignis.
* TheLastDance: At the end of ''Kingsglaive'', he uses the Ring of the Lucii's powers to launch a FinalBattle with Glauca.
* ManOnFire: Towards the end of the film, he combusts twice as a result due to the Ring of the Lucii's powers greatly shortening his lifespan.
* MeaningfulName: Nyx was the goddess of the night. When the night goes away, [[TheHeroDies so does he]]. Ulric is a variant of the German names Ulrich ("heritage ruler") and Wulfric ("wolf ruler").
* MissingMom: His mother died when his hometown was invaded.
* MrFanservice: Much like Gladio before him, his {{Hunk}} status is shown off through promotional pinups showing off his bod.
* MyGreatestFailure: Failing to protect his mother and sister from the imperial army when they invaded his hometown.
* OhCrap: He is utterly shocked when he realizes that Pelna is going to fall into a trap by the imperials while the latter rescues Luna and when he sees Regis being ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice at Glauca's hands.
* PraetorianGuard: Like Gladio and Cor, that's his job.
* PowerAtAPrice: After making a contract with the previous kings of Lucis to stop Glauca despite not being of the royal bloodline, Nyx is only granted until dawn to use the ring's power. When dawn does arrive, his body slowly starts to disintegrate.
* ReassignedToAntarctica: For disobeying orders to retreat during the opening battle, he temporarily gets assigned to gatekeeping, with the other gatekeepers mocking him for being an immigrant. Following the news that Regis agreed to Niflheim's unilateral peace treaty, however, Drautos personally assigns him to the Crownsguard.
* ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming: Nyx was the Greek primordial goddess of the night.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Unlike the other glaives, he attaches a blue scarf to his uniform.
* ShutUpHannibal: During the finale of ''Kingsglaive'':
-->'''Glauca:''' A man's past is his pride.
-->'''Nyx:''' No. My pride is shaping the future.
%%* TallDarkAndHandsome
* TokenGoodTeammate: One of the few members of the Kingsglaive unit who ''isn't'' a traitor.
* UndyingLoyalty: To King Regis, to whom he owes a LifeDebt.
* YouShallNotPass: He launches a final assault on Glauca to allow Libertus and Luna to escape.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Libertus Ostium]]
!! Libertus Ostium
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/libertus_ostium.jpg]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Mitsuaki Kanuka (Japanese), Liam Mulvey (English)

Nyx's best friend, Libertus also hails from Galahd. A feisty individual, he doesn't take kindly to Lucis's peace treaty with Niflheim, thinking it voids everything the Kingsglaive was fighting for.

----
* {{Acrofatic}}: He's noticeably plump, but not in a "couch potato overweight" sort of way - he's got more of a "retired football player" physique. And he's ''just'' as physically capable and nimble as any other Glaive.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Towards Crowe since they were kids.
* BigFun: He has a large physique and is a cheerful individual.
* TheBusCameBack: After a complete absence from the main campaign of ''Final Fantasy XV'', Libertus returns as an occasional mentor and ally to the player character in ''Comrades'', the multiplayer expansion.
* CarFu: In order to confirm his suspicions after overhearing communications from various sides of the conflict, he tries to run Drautos over with Noct's [[ProductPlacement Audi]], forcing Drautos to [[TheReveal reveal]] [[InstantArmor himself]] as Glauca.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Nyx and Crowe.
* FunctionalAddict: He's addicted to painkillers due to his injury, but it's never shown to compromise his faculties. He finally tosses his pills away near the end when he's asked to protect Luna.
* HandicappedBadass: His left leg is crushed by a rock during the opening battle, and he spends the entirety of the movie in a cast. Doesn't stop him from being able to drive Lunafreya through the chaos of Insomnia's invasion, and even try to run over [[ImplacableMan Glauca]] twice.
* HeroicBSOD: Libertus has a major one when Crowe is killed, which leads to his FaceHeelTurn.
* HeelFaceTurn: Near the end of the film, he realizes that Niflheim was pulling the strings behind his resistance cell and rejoins Nyx's side, helping Luna escape Insomnia while Nyx battles General Glauca.
* HotBlooded: Fairly impulsive and boorish, he reacts angrily to Lucis's decision to make peace with Niflheim, and is just as pissed when Luche flat out tells him Lucis is screwed whether or not they agree to it.
* InkSuitActor: His likeness is based on his English voice actor, Liam Mulvey.
* IWillWaitForYou: Platonically to Nyx at the end of the movie, saying he will wait for Nyx to come back to their hometown. Tragically, Nyx dies not long after.
* LastOfHisKind: By the end of the film, Libertus is the sole remaining Glaive.
* MeaningfulName: His name is derived from ''Libertas'' (Latin for "liberty"), the Roman goddess and embodiment of liberty. He is a member of the Kingsglaive that fights and protects Lucis and its people from tyranny.
* OohMeAccentsSlipping: His actor's natural Welsh accent tends to slip through every now and again, sometimes to a downright distracting degree.
* SoleSurvivor: He is the only glaive to survive Niflheim's assault on Insomnia.
* {{Turncoat}}: Upon learning that Crowe died and convinced that Lucis's stance towards the peace treaty is responsible for it, Libertus decides to abandon the Kingsglaive and joins a civilian resistance cell composed of similarly-minded, anti-treaty militants.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: A key player during the events of the movie, yet he's nowhere to be seen or even heard of in the game. Considering he made it out alive, one would think he would've at least tried to make contact with some of the folks who ''did'' get out, like Cor.
** Answered in ''Comrades''. He's been working with Cor behind the scenes and serves as a party member during the tutorial.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Luche Lazarus]]
!! Luche Lazarus
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/luche_lazarus.jpg]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TomokazuSeki (Japanese), Creator/ToddHaberkorn (English)

The self-proclaimed leader of Nyx's group, Luche is a collected man who rationalizes the peace treaty between Nifhleim and Lucis, however pessimistic it might sound. This makes him at odds with Libertus, who would rather fight until the bitter end.

----
* AlliterativeName: '''L'''uche '''L'''azarus.
* BigDamnHeroes: Subverted during the recovery of Lunafreya, who had been kidnapped by Glauca; he arrives on board of a hijacked Niflheim gunship, ready to extract Nyx and Luna. Instead, he gets pushed off by one of Ultros's tentacles, leaving the pair to commandeer the ship themselves.
* LesCollaborateurs: He and a good portion of the Kingsglaive accept a deal with Niflheim to betray King Regis, in exchange for being able to return to their hometowns.
* DisneyVillainDeath: He is [[ManOnFire burnt alive]] when he is rejected by the Ring of the Lucii, and ultimately falls off the building he and Luna are on.
* FatalFlaw: His treacherous and power-hungry ambitions leads to his death.
* InkSuitActor: His likeness is based on actor Greg Blackford.
* ManOnFire: He gets tricked into wearing the Ring of the Lucii by Luna, and is predictably rejected like Ravus before him, only this time his entire body is set aflame.
* MissionControl: He oversees the opening battle against Niflheim by relaying orders to the Kingsglaive, and directly reports to Drautos once the commander steps on the field.
* NotQuiteDead: Last seen by Nyx and Luna being pushed off a ship by Ultros, Luche reappears much later alive and well. Except he shows his true colours by shooting Nyx and attempting to take the Ring.
* SchmuckBait: Luna all but taunts him with the fact that he isn't powerful enough to wear the ring, with [[ManOnFire the desired effect]].
* {{Turncoat}}: He is the leader of the rebel glaives who defect to Niflheim.
* VillainBall: [[WhyDontYouJustShootHim He has Nyx at gunpoint and all he has to do is pull the trigger and recover the Ring from Luna.]] Instead, he decides ''not'' to kill Nyx and actually [[TooDumbToLive opts to put on the Ring, even after Luna tells him that it's too powerful for him to wield.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: Much of his characterization and importance to the plot comes after he's revealed to be among the Glaives who betray Regis, the moment the latter agrees to the peace treaty.
* WouldYouLikeToHearHowTheyDied: He gleefully describes Crowe's murder to Nyx, telling how one hollow bullet was all it took to make her die painfully while Nyx took two and still has the strength to move.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Crowe Altius]]
!! Crowe Altius
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/crowe_altius.jpg]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AyumiFujimura (Japanese), Alexa Kahn (English)

A close friend of Nyx and Libertus.

----
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: [[AvertedTrope Averted]]; she's already started to slightly decompose by the time her body is returned to Insomnia.
* DiesWideOpen: When Libertus and Nyx hurry to the morgue to see her recovered corpse, her eyes are still open.
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: The mages among the Kingsglaive are all women, Crowe being the most prominent one.
* InkSuitActor: Or in her case, "Ink-Suit Actress." Her appearance is based on actress Andrea Tivadar.
* KilledOffscreen: In one scene, she is waiting for Luna to arrive. In the next scene, she is discovered dead.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: With Libertus. Crowe is tired of hearing that she is like a little sister to him, but after the opening battle, she is right next to him as he is carried away on a stretcher, clearly worried about him.
* MilitaryMage: She stays back and provides support with the other mages.
* NothingIsScarier: Her murder is not shown, though according to Lazarus she was shot to death.
* SacrificialLamb: Just in case you didn't realize [[AnyoneCanDie what kind of film this is]], she's the first named character to die, with her death causing the fracture between the Kingsglaive.
* TheSquadette: Crowe is the only prominent female Kingsglaive and indeed the only one voiced, save for another who groans after collapsing.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Crowe is the sole prominent female Kingsglaive seen in the film.
* StuffedIntoTheFridge: She's murdered by Luche, seemingly under Drautos's orders, in order to exacerbate the dissent between the Glaives regarding Lucis's peace treaty with Niflheim; with Libertus's fiery temper taken into account, his public fallout with Nyx only helped encourage the conflict.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: She is killed off early in ''Kingsglaive'' without being given much characterization.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Pelna Khara]]
!! Pelna Khara
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/WataruTakagi (Japanese), Creator/BenDiskin (English)

Another member of the Kingsglaive and a friend of Nyx's group.

----
* InkSuitActor: His likeness is based on actor Tausif Patel.
* IOweYouMyLife: A good of part of his characterization lies on the fact that he feels heavily indebted to Nyx for saving his ass multiple times, and really wouldn't want the latter to go on dying without Pelna repaying his debt. For this, he is one of Nyx's most reliable allies within the Kingsglaive.
* KilledMidSentence: He reports to Nyx that he secured Luna, but at the same time ignores the former's warnings of an imminent trap. An Ultros immediately kills him for his trouble.
-->"One Tenebrae princess, safe and soun--"
* TokenGoodTeammate: One of the few Glaives who doesn't betray Lucis during the peace treaty, though he dies shortly before the rest turn ''en masse''.

[[folder:Tredd Furia]]
!! Tredd Furia
->'''Voiced by:''' Fuminori Komatsu (Japanese), Creator/MaxMittelman (English)

A member of the Kingsglaive who strongly opposes King Regis's agreement to Niflheim's unilateral peace treaty. He's said to be a weapons specialist and trains constantly to make sure his skills are top-notch.

----
* FieryRedhead: He has red hair and a hot-tempered personality.
* InkSuitActor: His likeness is based on actor Mehran Armando.
* {{Jerkass}}: He openly discredits Lucis's decision to make a peace treaty with Niflheim, claiming that the ruling body doesn't really care for the lands beyond Insomnia and only handpicks the Kingsglaive for their affinity with Regis's magic. Then he moves on to belittle Nyx for his continued support towards the king, prompting the usually calm Nyx to get at his throat.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Unfortunately for Lucis, his grand speech is a sentiment held deeply by the majority of the Glaives, which is hinted at when Petra makes snide remarks at Nyx for being an immigrant.
* KilledOffscreen: Libertus comes across his and his teammates' bodies when trying to regroup with the other civilian resistance members.
* {{Turncoat}}: He is among the glaives who betray Regis.

->'''Appears in:''' ''Anime/KingsglaiveFinalFantasyXV'' | ''Anime/BrotherhoodFinalFantasyXV'' | ''VideoGame/AKingsTaleFinalFantasyXV''

The father of Gladiolus and Iris Amicitia, and a childhood friend of Regis. Clarus is a member of the High Council of Lucis.

----
* ArtShift: His initial character design was ''very'' different. He wore a stylish suit and had a scraggly beard and his hair was longer and slicked back.
* BaldOfAwesome: He has a receding hairline due to his old age.
* BloodBrothers: With Regis.
* ChildhoodFriends: He's been friends with Regis ever since they were young.
* DemotedToExtra: Clarus was the one character changed even ''more'' when the game transitioned from ''Versus XIII'' to ''XV'' than when Stella was changed to Luna. In the original concept, he was planned to be the treacherous [[EvilTwin brother]] of King Regis who allied himself with Niflheim during the sacking of Insomnia. In the final product, he was instead changed to Gladio's father and Regis's most loyal friend, with his role being relegated entirely to ''Kingsglaive.''
* ForgottenFallenFriend: In a very weird way. He's only mentioned once in the game, but never by name, after his untimely demise in ''Kingsglaive.''
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: He valiantly fights one last time alongside his King despite being offered the chance to leave. [[OhCrap To Regis's horror]], Glauca literally nails Clarus to the wall with his own sword, killing him painfully.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: The relationship between Clarus and Regis seems to mirror the friendship his son Gladiolus has with Regis's son, Noctis.
* NumberTwo: The novel makes it clear that he also serves as this to Regis.
* RedBaron: As the personal bodyguard of the king, he is known as "the King's Shield".
* UndyingLoyalty: Regis offers him the chance to flee as Glauca prepares to attack them. However, Clarus insists on staying, stating that if Regis falls, so will Lucis.

A security officer tasked with gatekeeping and various overwatch duties, he taunts Nyx when the latter is temporarily re-assigned to one of the city's gates.

----

* BadassNormal: Doesn't have any of the Kingsglaive's magical powers, yet he manages to hold off a Niflheim gunship armed with just an armored truck and a machine gun.
* IGotYouCovered: Arrives just in time to provide cover fire to Nyx and Luna against a Niflheim gunship, giving the two some respite. It's implied he dies holding off Tredd's group, as Libertus happens upon the wreckage of his truck.
* InkSuitActor: The likeness of actor Ryan Oliva is used for Petra's 3D model.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Belittles Nyx for being an immigrant and questions the Kingsglaive's purpose in Lucis (given Insomnia already has the Crystal's impenetrable protection), but he's very keen on safekeeping the peace the city has enjoyed for over a hundred years.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: Judging by Tredd's corpse and the surrounding wreckage, it's implied he somehow managed to shoot down a gunship with just a machine gun.

A mysterious armored knight who leads the Imperial Magitek automatons into battle, Glauca is the supreme commander of Niflheim's military and one of the main antagonists of the film. An imposing man of few words who lets his prowess in battle speak for itself.

Twelve years prior to the movie's events, he led the attack on Tenebrae to try and assassinate king Regis and his son, Noctis. He failed but still murdered Queen Sylva, ensuring Tenebrae's annexation to Niflheim.

During the film's climax, it is revealed that Glauca is but a front for the treacherous commander of the Kingsglaive, Titus Drautos; ready to serve anyone for reclaiming the freedom of his homeland.

----

* {{BFS}}: The only weapon he wields is a massive broadsword, and it's enough for him to rack up a large bodycount in the movie.
* BrokenFaceplate: Half his helmet gets destroyed during his fight with Nyx, indicating that his armor's regnerative abilities have reached their limit.
* BrokenPedestal: All of the respect Nyx Ulric has for Drautos is shattered once the latter's true identity is revealed. When asked why he would still serve Niflheim even after the atrocities they committed, Drautos answers that he'd do anything to regain freedom for his hometown, even if it meant betraying Lucis. It's from this moment that Nyx realizes that Drautos is the short-sighted one, not him.
* CoDragons: To Aldercapt, alongside Ardyn; he heads Niflheim's military side, while Ardyn deals with the political side.
* DarthVaderClone: Big, powerful, menacing, deep voice, position of high authority, wields a reddish sword, and is covered from head to toe in heavy armor? Check times 7. Over the course of the movie, he kills several older heroes directly (Regis and Clarus), turns out to be a traitor to his homeland, and is a former mentor to the hero Nyx, even attempting to convince the latter to the Empire's side. Check times [[UpToEleven 11]]!
* DemotedToExtra: Or more specifically, Moved To A Movie. Shortly after ''XV'' was revealed in 2013, Glauca was planned to be a major antagonist in the game. Instead, his role while major, was entirely relegated to ''Kingsglaive'' and he's nowhere to be seen in ''XV'' except for flashbacks. There is absolutely no mention of Glauca in the game proper, and since Ravus has taken the rank of High Commander, it is assumed Drautos perished during his final battle with Nyx.
* DueToTheDead: Stands in silence after he kills Regis, incidentally allowing Nyx and Luna to escape the Citadel.
* EvilSoundsDeep: A side-effect of donning his helmet. Once it's broken, his voice returns to normal.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He keeps an austere, honor-bound attitude with a sleight of politeness, something that contrasts with the atrocities he remorselessly pulls over the course of the story.
* FightingForAHomeland: Even after he's revealed to be Drautos, he still insists to Nyx that his main motivation for fighting is for his hometown; Lucis and Niflheim can burn for all he cares, staying true to his own CatchPhrase.
-->"Lucis. Niflheim. It isn't who we fight for that matters, only what. We fight for our homes. That is where our allegiance lies."
* FightsLikeANormal: While undercover as a member of the Kingsglaive, it stands to reason that Drautos fought without using his PowerArmor. The fact that he managed to be promoted to [[MoleInCharge Commander]] in spite of this speaks volumes of his combat prowess.
* FourStarBadass: He's not the supreme commander of the Imperial army for nothing; he's significantly stronger than every opponent he comes across, and none of them ever last long enough to inflict significant damage on him.
* GoldMakesEverythingShiny: In the E3 2013 trailer he [[http://img5.fotos-hochladen.net/uploads/vlcsnap201407f4lqx93gy2.png wears a golden suit of armor]], though this is ultimately scrapped altogether for the version we know in ''Kingsglaive''.
* TheHeavy: Of ''Kingsglaive''. Aldercapt and Ardyn drive the conflict, but Glauca poses the greatest physical threat to the heroes.
* HeroKiller: Regis makes a point of telling Clarus that there's literally no escape once the former senses Glauca's arrival into the fray. Glauca slays both of them not long after and indirectly causes Nyx's demise at the end of the movie.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Drautos holds a grudge against King Regis for betraying the Kingsglaive and their hometowns, all while fighting on behalf of the same empire that conquered his home in the first place.
** It becomes even more hypocritical when you consider that he betrays the Kingsglaive members loyal to the king. It seems that betrayal is only bad when Drautos doesn't benefit from it.
* ImplacableMan: Seriously, the amount of punishment he takes throughout the movie is ''absurd''[[note]]He gets blasted silly several times by Regis and Nyx, gets run over by a car twice, falls from a great height without his jet boots, and even takes a stories-tall sword swing head on[[/note]], and he's been thwarted several times in his attempts to complete his objectives. Yet through all this, not ''once'' does he falter.
* InstantArmor: He can cover himself with his PowerArmor when he's in a pinch, which is exactly what he does when Libertus tries to run him over while he's still posing as the Kingsglaive commander everyone knew up until TheReveal. This is implied to be one of the suit's many abilities.
* InTheBack: As a MythologyGag to Sephiroth murdering Aerith in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'', Glauca knocks Regis into facing away from him, then brutally runs the king through from the back, with Glauca still facing the opposite way.
* TheKingslayer: He attempts to kill Regis and Noctis during the prologue as part of Niflheim's surprise attack on Tenebrae, and murders Queen Sylva along the way. Twelve years later, he comes back to try and slay Regis once again. This time, he succeeds.
* KnightOfCerebus: Aldercapt and Ardyn are a serious threat to Lucis, but are hammy enough to bring some levity to their scenes. Glauca is an entirely different beast; not only is he devoid of any quirky traits but once he shows up and starts fighting, the body count rises exponentially.
* LargeAndInCharge: He is the supreme commander of Niflheim's military and is a large muscular figure.
* LightningBruiser: Due to how his armor functions, he's ''insanely'' fast, hits hard and takes extreme punishment while still being able to recover quickly.
* LongGame: Given he's infiltrated Lucis and was the commander of the Kingsglaive since some time after the assassination attempt on Tenebrae, he had about twelve years to prepare for the weakening of Lucis's defenses, instead of immediately trying to kill Regis, still at his prime.
* MeaningfulName: Glauca is derived from ''Glaucus'', a Greek name meaning "grayish-blue" or "bluish-green", and "[[LightIsNotGood glimmering]]".
* MoleInCharge: Successfully infiltrates and is promoted to Commander of Lucis's elite Kingsglaive, masterminding the weakening of the kingdom's defenses along the way.
* OneHitPolykill: Swiftly takes out four members of the Lucian High Council in one strike, while lunging at Regis and Clarus.
* PedestrianCrushesCar: Libertus tries to run him over while Drautos is unarmoured, but the general activates his armor and predictably flips the car with ease. Later, Glauca attempts to intercept Libertus and Luna by ''standing in front of them and stopping their Audi right in its tracks''; this is less successful, as they drag him along for quite a distance before the statue of the Mystic knocks him away from the car.
* PowerArmor: His armor suit bolsters his physical abilities beyond what is humanly possible, allowing him to leap across great distances and lunge quickly at his opponents. It also has built-in jet boots that cushion his landings following a long-distance jump. Because it's forged with Niflheim's state-of-the-art liquid metal technology, not only it's incredibly resilient, but also capable of regenerating itself, as demonstrated when Regis unsuccessfully tries to fry Glauca with lightning.
* RageHelm: His helmet is shaped to resemble a snarling demon, adding to his intimidating stature.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: He gives a poignant one to Regis during their battle before killing him:
-->"Behold the king of Lucis, who hoarded tranquility within his precious walls. Where is your tranquility now, King? [[PreMortemOneLiner Here is your peace, by steel's swift descent!]]"
* SecretIdentity: Of Drautos, commander of the Kingsglaive.
* SomethingOnlyTheyWouldSay: Glauca's recitation of the Kingsglaive's FactionMotto "For hearth and home" over the radio clues Libertus in to the fact that the treacherous glaives are being led by a familiar face.
* TinTyrant: Square Enix definitely went ballistic with this one; Glauca dons a heavy suit of magitek armor, one that's very detailed and ornate.
* TronLines: Parts of the joints between his armor plating glow magenta whenever he uses his PowerArmor's abilities.
* UncertainDoom: The last we see of him is being defeated by a stab to the chest, courtesy of Nyx, though he was still breathing by the time the scene pans out. Within the game, Ravus is promoted to Supreme Commander, meaning Glauca either died or is left unaccounted for following Insomnia's sacking.
* VillainHasAPoint: As Drautos, he points out to Nyx that his strength relies on the king and that he is nothing without him. He is proven right when Regis is killed later on; Nyx is unable to defeat Glauca without relying on the Ring of the Lucii, which [[PowerAtAPrice ultimately kills him]].
* VillainRespect: He bows and raises his sword in salute to Regis before fighting him.
* WouldHitAGirl: Queen Sylva is a victim of this, tragically.
* WouldHurtAChild: He was sent to Tenebrae to assassinate both Regis and his son Noctis, in order to end the Caelum dynasty.

Lucis eventually became this to the glaives when the peace treaty signing is announced. In the end, only Niflheim came ahead. It's even said word-for-word by Crowe.

!! Nyx Ulric
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nyx_3.jpg]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Go Ayano (Japanese), Creator/AaronPaul (English)
->'''Appears in:''' ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXV'' | ''Anime/KingsglaiveFinalFantasyXV''

-->'''Glauca:''' A man's past is his pride.

The self-proclaimed leader of Nyx's group, Luche is a collected man who rationalizes the peace treaty between Nifhleim and Lucis, however pessimistic it might sound. This makes him at odds with Libertus, who would rather fight until the bitter end.

----
* AlliterativeName: '''L'''uche '''L'''azarus.

For this, he is one of Nyx's most reliable allies within the Kingsglaive.

----
* FieryRedhead: He has red hair and a hot-tempered personality.

* BaldOfAwesome: He has a receding hairline due to his old age.
* BloodBrothers: With Regis.

-->''"You are far too clever to have ever believed in this 'peace'."''

* CoDragons: To
'''Characters/FinalFantasyXVEmpireOfNiflheim''': Iedolas Aldercapt, alongside Ardyn; he heads Niflheim's military side, while '''General Glauca''', Ardyn deals with the political side.
* DarthVaderClone: Big, powerful, menacing, deep voice, position of high authority, wields a reddish sword, and is covered from head to toe in heavy armor? Check times 7. There is absolutely no mention of Glauca in the game proper, and since
Izunia, Ravus has taken the rank of High Commander, it is assumed Drautos perished during his final battle with Nyx.
Nox Fleuret.
* DueToTheDead: Stands in silence after he kills Regis, incidentally allowing Nyx and Luna to escape the Citadel.
'''Characters/FinalFantasyXVOtherAllies''': '''Lunafreya Nox Fleuret''', Sylva Nox Fleuret
* TheKingslayer: He attempts to kill Regis and
'''Characters/FinalFantasyXVPartyMembers''': Noctis during the prologue as part of Niflheim's surprise attack on Tenebrae, and murders Queen Sylva along the way.
* LongGame: Given he's infiltrated
Lucis and was the commander of the Kingsglaive since some time after the assassination attempt on Tenebrae, he had about twelve years to prepare for the weakening of Lucis's defenses, instead of immediately trying to kill Regis, still at his prime.
